Cozy Mystery
Sandy Pepper owns “Hot Stuff”, a small town bakery that specializes in unexpected gastric creations. Her shop is known worldwide for daring desserts that pair sweet and spicy ingredients much to the delight of her loyal customers. Then the host of Culinary Hype shows up and suddenly Sandy’s little shop becomes known for a lot more than cupcakes that set mouths on fire. Hot Stuff becomes synonymous with murder when the hotshot host ends up dead after tasting one of Sandy’s well-known treats.

Determined to prove the stubborn detective assigned to her case wrong, Sandy sets out investigating on her own enlisting the assistance of her young-at-heart grandmother and her perpetually absent father in the process. Tracking down a killer though soon proves to be too much for Sandy to handle and she finds herself tangled in a web of lies and jealousy as the truth about the dead celebrity host comes to light.

This pretty much sucked. A short short story masquerading as a book. Dreck. Too short and too little detail to offer any chance of reasonably determining a conclusion except for the author giving it to you. Inappropriate word usage. It would be nice if the author know what the words she used actually meant or what the correct tense of a verb was. Please do not subject readers to more of this stuff without first getting a publisher who knows a thing or two about writing. I'd give this one negative stars if possible.

This isn't a novel, it's a short story. Then, to add a little more heft to the so-called book, they added another short story. This short story was in another of the author's so-called books -- to add heft to that book.

The main short story was "meh". I felt cheated after reading it. I won't be reading anymore by this author.

Short stories

This book consists of short stories. Two of which I couldn't read (couldn't get into them) but the others were good quick reads. I like short stories as they cut to the chase.

OMG! Awful

A murder mystery? Really. 2/3 of the book is about her perfect stupid life with her perfect boyfriend.
Then a guy does and she feels guilt.
Then her perfect boyfriend dies and there is his brother, to be perfect for her stupid life.
Way too sunny Suzy for me.

Novella - 4 Chapters to create characters, commit a murder and solve it .. quite a clever format .. but they are all the same format & some almost the same story with names & locations changed .. read one, read 'em all ..

What happens when a noted food critic comes to your small town bakery and dies? Well if you are Sandy Pepper, owner of Hot Stuff, decides that she is going to solve the murder herself. She knows that it wasn’t her food that poisoned the poor man like the police detective. She needs to solve this and solve it quit before she loses her precious bakery. Using her wits and the help of both her grandma and her dad, Sandy does solve the mystery. Again, I didn’t figure out who the killer was right away which is a huge plus for me!! If you love quick, cozy mysteries, I definitely suggest you check out S.Y. Robins books

this book has a lot of potential. it started out great. but the story lacks details. i got this book had had it on my kindle. the book ending at only 21%. that is extremely short. the entire murder was solved up in a half page. it needed to be more indepth.

21-39% you get a bonus story of hers called Gone Missing. which is also extremely short( maybe 30 pages) and undetailed.

the other 60% of this book is just previews for 4 other books.

personally i would rather read a book that more than 50% of the pages are for that book instead of the less than a quarter like this one was. Hopefully the next book will keep this in mind.

I really didn't enjoy this, the start of the story was set up to be great, but with so little to it the story seemed to rush at the end, leaving you all ??? I would have never guessed the killer, even with reason giving I don't understand why they'd turn on to someone else.

The ending disappointed me a bit, it felt a bit deus ex machina when they revealed the killer. And as far as the handling of the gun at the end, that was just silly, dangerous and irresponsible.

Otherwise okay in its genre.

Okay for short stories

Most of the stories are fine for a quick read....
Perfect for a day at the beach, camping, or traveling.
