When Autumn’s life is crushed due to family secrets and the heart wrenching events that follow, she knows she must escape the now lonely life she is being forced to live and so she runs to the little town of Haywater. There, she is still content to live her life but in the defences she has built up around herself. Until Zed comes crashing into his life. He has his own set of Desmond and guilt resting on his shoulders but he can’t stop the need he has to protect her, to be there for her and maybe to even cherish her. Will both Autumn and Zed let their own private demons free and let their defences down enough to give themselves the chance to fall in love?

“It’s time to awaken your beautiful soul, and take one step after another, until one day, you’ll find you’ve travelled a journey you had no idea you were capable of. Even the small steps matter.”

This book was so beautifully written, the characters so heartbreakingly damaged but strong at the same time. The author takes you to a place with her writing that makes you believe you are living the story alongside the characters.

“You’ve accepted your life for what it was for too long a time. Take back what should have been yours all along. Never settle. Fight for what you desire, what you deserve.”

Autumn was our beautiful, broken, sheltered heroine but she was also so determined, strong and one hell of a survivor! Yeah she had a horrible past, awful secrets and had every right to be quiet, meek and trodden down but throughout the story we see that nothing will keep her down and although she isn’t living life to the full, she is determined to live it, to be happy and have some fun. Zed, is our very hot, very determined, caring, playboy (to start of with) hero who is battling his own demons. Yet Zed still wants to protect, look after, and cherish our heroine, which makes him one of my all time favourite book boyfriends!

“You need to stop acting as though you need punishment, Autumn. Not one part of it was your fault. No amount of blame or guilt should be placed on your shoulders. You’ve lost too much already. You are not going to give up on this life without a fight.”

The story itself was beautiful, unique, sad, uplifting, romantic and tense; with passion, love, lies, and secrets, this story really has everything you could want to keep you hooked and to keep you turning the pages one after the other, after the other. We start of not knowing so much; what kind of family Autumn has come from? What secrets and trauma has suffered? And this instantly draws us in. I needed to know what had happened, what had broken this girl? And when Zed makes his appearance even more questions arise and we fall so deeply involved with the characters, we become desperate to delve deeper into their lives.

“I’d f***ing failed her then. I refused to again. Life was cruel, and it was time to teach it a lesson. I needed to hurt someone, to get justice for whatever hurt had been caused, to offer payback.”

Two worlds truly collide in this unique, beautifully told, romance of two people rising up from heart breaking pasts to help each other break down their defences to heal themselves and maybe even find love.

An enjoyable read that follows two souls that have both experienced horrific heartache and loss.

Autumn is a girl that has never really known love from her family. They are cold, heartless and I really disliked them. Her ex also goes into the don’t like category. He is a piece of work.

Autumn moves away from her family and tries to make a new life for herself. In Haywater she has Jack and Bea. I loved Jack. I had mixed feeling about Bea.
And then we get to meet Zed and Reid. Or more Zed in Autumns case.
The two of them have so much hurt, anger, guilt and grief to get through, and they need to do it together.

A wonderful book, and I am looking forward to starting book 2.

I was blown away by this story. It had depth, complex emotional issues and memorable characters - I adored it!

Despite some initial hesitancy at the outset of this book, specifically in the vague way that the story commenced, I found myself quickly emerged within the lives of these endearing characters and their captivating and emotive stories. This is one of those books which slowly reveals its secrets to you with the turn of every page.

From the start, it was unclear why Autumn was leaving her family home and why Brent McCann played a part in her decision. The story then moves on into Auty’s new life living alongside new friends, Jack and Bea, who quickly realise that Auty is holding secrets from her past deep within her. Whilst Auty is happy in her new life, she remains closed off but with the support of those who have come to love her, she is now cherished and protected.

Auty’s life is simple until she sets eyes on mysterious surfer Zed and his friend Reid. Both friends of her boss, the enigmatic duo cause Auty’s protective walls to crumble thus weakening her resolve where men are concerned. Auty sees something in Zed’s eyes that draws her, unexpectedly, to him. He too is broken and is wearing the emotional scars for all to see, if only people took the time to notice, as Auty does. Despite an unfortunate first encounter, it’s not long before they start to see the best in each other.

Zed may possibly have been the finest looking man my eyes had eyes had the pleasure of resting on, but he was the most abrupt, pompous twat my ears have ever had the displeasure of listening too.

Zed turns out to be Bea’s cousin and through their mutual connection, Zed and Auty start to be a frequent, but pleasant, presence in each other's lives. Despite Auty’s resistance, and firm no dating rule, Zed is not dissuaded by her rebuttals and slowly but surely lets her into his heart and in doing so places himself firmly in hers.

As the story progresses, more secrets from both Auty and Zed are revealed. There are challenges along the way especially when friends misplace their intentions towards Zed and Auty but with time, and patience, Zed and Auty start to find comfort in each other’s company.

Despite a slow and steady start to this book, once Zed and Reid arrive on the scene and the layers of both Auty and Zed are peeled away, and their mutual pain is revealed, this story held me with an unrelenting grip. The secrets uncovered are hard to digest but cathartic to Zed and Auty as they start open up to one another. The writing style by RG Corr is strong and her storytelling skills have definitely won me over. I can’t wait to read on and to get my hands on Reid’s story.

*****Kim's Review!*****

I received an ARC for my honest review.

In this book we meet Autumn Chamberlain a girl with so much hurt and sorrow in her life. Autumn has only one true friend, her parents house keeper Mary. Autumn packs up her life and moves away with the help of Mary and in just one short year she dramatically changes her life for the better. She now has true friends. Bea, Jack and Dex are absolutely the best people this broken girl could have come across. She meets Zed who also has a hidden sadness. Their paths collide but can a broken woman and a self confessed player really ever work? You'll have to read to find out! Zed's best friend Reid is the comedian there's plenty of laughs to be had from this man! There's definitely some secrets still to be uncovered where Reid and Bea are concerned.

I loved Autumns Rise, and reading it I would never have guessed that this is a debut. The writing is superb and I was totally sucked into the story. I just wanted to give both Autumn and Zed a huge hug. It's a heartbreaking story but also a story of hope. This book brought so many emotions out of me and I was fairly gutted when it ended. I can't wait for Reid's story hopefully we will finally find more about him and Bea. Five stars from me!

‘Autumn’s Rise is a rise from the ashes contemporary romance that finds hope in the aftermath of darkness and strength in love. A sensational début written with heart, honesty and soul. Yes, its official, this princess has been hit with the ‘Zed Effect.’ ~ Kelly, Perusing Princesses Blog

Wow, what can I say about this book except that it captivated me from start to finish. This début is not only beautifully written but it held a real sense of compassion as the characters were well nurtured and gradually came to life before my very eyes.

R.G Corr gave us a sheltered and broken heroine in the early chapters, and gave her a voice, and that voice had one hell of a story to tell. Her past has been inflicted with painful wounds wrapped around a façade of wealth and high social standing. Autumn Chamberlain wanted for nothing to the outside world but within those confines of a beautiful mansion held many dark secrets.

Taking flight and attending college was her get out of jail free card and a one way ticket to freedom, the thought is liberating as much as it is terrifying. Her only regret is leaving her housekeeper and surrogate mother, Mary – the only person who tended to Autumn throughout her life with a caring hand.

Haywater is a new start, and her saving grace comes in two very special people, Bea and Jack; one very outspoken carefree date addicted party girl and one very illuminating gay man who loves clothes shopping more than the average socialite – these two make for one perfect distraction.

Even with new-found friendship, Autumn has sworn to never let another into her heart, not when it has been shattered so fiercely. Her promise is tested when the new beautiful surfer and Bea’s cousin, Zed enters the scene along with his crazy Brother-in-arms, Reid.

A womanising playboy is the last thing Autumn needs, but with being a close relative to her best friend, Bea, it is inevitable that their paths should cross more than once. It soon becomes apparent that Zed is harbouring some troubling demons of his own, and it is through this that they find a quiet understanding, and what starts as an inconvenient distraction becomes something to be treasured.

Autumn and Zed’s story of love, hope and redemption is a journey that really spoke to me and I'm so pleased that I agreed to take a gamble and read an ARC because this book is a real gem, and I highly recommend you add it to your TBR.

A story of survival and a second chance at life this is one debut you do not want to miss out on. Full of love, loss, hope, heartbreak, hidden secrets with a bit humour in between, Ruth sure know how to get your emotions going.

With characters that you instantly fall in love with and a plot that pulls you in Ruth has delivered one magnificent debut.

Zed and Autumn were two broken people trying to move on with their lives after running from their families. Autumn swore she wouldn't love again as all it resulted in was heartbreak, until Zed walked into her life and refused to give up. He saw her. He saw through her mask to the broken, sad person underneath just as she truly seen him. And together, the healed each other and learned to love.

The secondary characters; Reid, Bea, Jack, Dex and Mary....although secondary they played just as an important part as the main.

Reid was the hilarious best friend and brother (from another mother) of Zed. I loved him. You could feel the loyalty and love he had for Zed, and even though he was the joker of the bunch, he could be serious and insightful when needed.

Bea and Jack were Autumn's protective and loyal best friends. They wrapped her in a protective bubble while she kept them at arms length. They knew she had secrets, but they loved her nonetheless and knew she would come to them when she was ready.

The way Ruth brought it together and connected everything was done clearly and left me without any questions.
I was left happy and content at the ending and it has me very excited for the next book in the series; Reid's story. I just know it's going to be one hell of a book when it's released and pack a punch. I can't wait.

Congratulations Ruth and Thankyou for giving us such an amazing story and amazing and lovable characters.

In this story we are introduced to Autumn Chamberlain, a broken young woman who leaves town to escape her painful past. Being new to the town of Haywater, she’s a bit reclusive and only makes friends with a couple of people. Her friends try to help her open up about her life and enjoy the little moments yet Autumn desperately struggles with her emotions from her past and feels she cannot confide in anyone, until she meets Zed Maddison.

Zed comes off a bit rude to Autumn during their first encounter and as they become more acquainted with one another, she tries to keep him at arm’s length. Zed on the other hand is intrigued by her and wants to know everything about her, including her past. Underneath the rudeness however Zed is a kind soul, who is also suffering with his past.

I was instantly pulled into this debut novel. I was constantly wondering if knowing each other’s past would tear Autumn and Zed apart or bring them closer. R.G Corr did a fanfic job at brining forth honest emotions. The words flowed beautifully and each character added their own individual uniqueness to the story. I highly recommend that you give this new author a try. I hope to read more of the Haywater Series in the near future.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Autumn arrives in Haywater to start a new life away from her family , ex boyfriend and what ever happened to her back at Greyston Manor. Fast forward a year, we find out how she is doing and meet her new best friends, Bea and Jack . Autumn is still fighting her demons and the pain of her past but trying so hard to move forward. Then Zed and his best friend Reid enter her life and the sparks fly. Zed has his own problems as he is laden down with guilt and grief and like Autumn struggling to fully enjoy life. They both feel they don't deserve love and happiness so their relationship is full of angst and them both trying to deal with their feelings for each other. Their journey is well written , develops slowly so everything is covered and we get to hear all about their pasts. I was so happy that they had found each other and were really trying to make it work. I loved all the other characters and how much they all enriched the story - Mary is so sweet, Jack is funny and supportive, Bea is like a busy bee always pushing Auty out of her comfort zone and Reid cracked me up with all his nicknames and bravado that I can't wait to read his story now.

I really enjoyed this book. I shed a few tears, there were a few surprises and the story was well written. I loved the main characters Autumn and Zed who each brought heartache into their relationship but I believe that made them who they are today and brought them together in the end. Can't wait for Reid's story!

WOW!! Was recommended this book by so many people so finally thought I'd give it a chance. I didn't expect to completely fall in love with it but I did. The characters are so well written, I felt as if I was there with them. There were so many twists and turns about both of their pasts, I got so seriously invested in their lives and was desperate for them to get together. I found myself in tears at one point. One of those books where you just feel so happy and contented by the end. I really can't recommend it enough!

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Autumn and Zed both have had their fair share of misery and heartache and you can tell from the start that there is an instant attraction between them. In order to be together they both must face the demons from their past. Great supporting characters that were easy to connect with and a storyline that kept you guessing. Looking forward to book 3.

Wow!

I am not gonna bore you by recapping the story or by posting spoilers because that's not my style but I will however tell you just how much I bloody loved this story!!!

This is my first foray into the R.G Corr's world, filled with love and heartbreak and she has left a lasting impression on me that is likely to last a long time. She is a truly talented writer and I am ashamed to say it has taken me this long to read her work.
She has this way with her words that captivates the mind and heart of the reader, as she pulls you deeper and deeper into this powerful story. Autumn's Rise is seamlessly written, it flowed beautifully and smoothly, making this sweet story easy to read and even easier to love. She had me enthralled from beginning to end and I was absolutely captivated by lovable characters that you instantly fall in love with and was completely swept away by the words.

This was a fantastic debut from R.G Corr that gave me all of the feels - no emotion was left untouched and at one point had me reaching for the tissues. I can not wait to read more!!!

There are debut novels and then there is a statement of intent and with this RG Corr’s first foray, it is very clear that this author is marking her territory because there is no going back from this, this author was born to write of that I have no doubt.
There was no emotion left untouched by the time I have finished the book and it wasn’t just a read it was an experience.
So what brought all this about, well from the mind of an exceptional individual came the strength that was Autumn, she had been through more in her short life than many would experience in twenty but she had weathered it all and was still standing tall and every time I thought she had turned a corner, I soon learnt that the author wasn’t quite finished illuminating her plight. I honestly thought that there couldn’t have been anything left for her to endure but clearly I was mistaken.
But this woman’s spirit knows no limits, or at least it appears not anyway because not matter how much is heaped upon her she keeps her head held high, no it is not easy but she seems to have a demeanour that refuses to be beaten.
She was more upbeat and alive through it all than I think I would have ever been able to manage and for that alone I think she truly won her place in my heart. She was a fighter and I had my fingers crossed that her fight was about to come to an end.
So day to day life is what it is for Autumn, she isn’t about to set the world alight so to speak but when she meets Zed, her mundane, her normality is blown out of the water. This guy is everything that she doesn’t actually want but so desperately needs, he is a force of nature that she is ill equipped to handle but can she find her feet and welcome this handsome man into her life?
Zed, adds a whole new dynamic to not only the story but to Autumn life, he sizzles off the page and as much as I was dubious about whether he was going to be a positive in Autumns life, I soon learnt that when it comes to wants and needs, I had no need to worry, R G Corr had it well and truly covered.

Zed had issues of his own to overcome but his connection with Autumn was fantastic, the verbal sparring was both light-hearted and enchanting. I actually liked the way the author was able to infuse an element of humour through much of the story and by introducing a series of secondary characters that provided a balance to the seriousness that had previously shrouded the main characters.
There were a number of secrets layered deep within the characters that the author took her time to reveal and while the good old “bad boy meets good girl” scenario may have initially sprung to mind, it couldn’t actually have been further from the truth. This was about meeting the person that is on the earth to complete your story, of knowing that there are times when you have no say in what life holds in store for you and learning to accept that where you are and where you need to be may not always been in your own hands to decide.
This was an honest book, it laid its story out for all to see and the author seems to have stayed completely true to the characters, they drove this story and while it would have been easy to take them in a completely different path, I admire the fact that the author listened to their voices and to the fact that they refused to be contained.
An all too often complement is that a book was beautifully written and at times it can be stated as almost an off the cuff platitude but with this, it I say it with absolute reverence…this book was beautifully written.
I finished the book, refreshed, delighted that I now have a new exciting author to add to my reading list and one that I can recommend with absolute abandon.
I also finished the book very much looking forward to what might just come next…. surely there has to be more, please!!!

This was my second read by this author and it yet again drew me in and didnt want me to stop until the very last words.
Different story.. great characters.. and boy what an amount of emotions all thrown into one fab book!
Autumn leaves home after going through some heartbreak and never wants to live that side of her life again.... shes lost but with the help of 2 friends she is starting to live again.
Zed is roaming around with friend Reid after suffering from his own heartbreak.. he blames himself for a traumatic loss when he bumps into Autumn one night and feels things he thinks he shouldnt.
This was not an easy journey for these characters... there was loss sadness and alot of truths that they had to overcome.
Cant wait to jump into Reids story next.

Meet Autumn.

Autumn is a young woman trying to find her way in the world. When she came to Haywater she just wanted to leave her past behind & to start again, so for so good. She has a couple of good friends but when they try to get her to open up about her past, she shuts them down. Unsure of how to deal with the emotions her past makes her feel, she chooses to bury them & not deal with them.

Enter Zed.

Zed is intrigued by Autumn, he is drawn to her & wants to know everything about her. Autumn upon melting Zed thinks he is rude & she tries to keep him at arms length. It would appear that Zed underneath that rude exterior is a kind soul who also has a hidden past.

Will their pasts catch up with them?

This is R.G. Corr's debut novel and I feel that it is a great way to start. The characters are well thoughtout, realistic, they integrate together, compliment each other & the story immensely. The storyline shows a believable level of everyday life, it depicts a romance that people can relate to. It shows friendships that are tested and strengthened.

I think that R.G. Corr has written a great story that captures the reader's attention & holds it until the bitter end. It makes you feel included & part of everything that happens. The characters & their emotions takeover your heart & mind, they draw you further into their world until you can no longer distinguish between fiction & reality.

This was a wonderfully emotional story, that captured my mind & my heart. I was sad to see the story end but happy knowing that I had Monday's Promise (Book 2) to continue with straight after.

I feel that R.G. Corr 's debut novel has shown that she has potential to be an amazingly talented author. I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress in the next book. I give Autumn's Rise a 4.5* rating

R.G. Corr is a new author to me and I have to question why I haven't heard of her before, this story is one that gains pace as you go along and is full of emotion and heartbreak at what the characters go through and still come out the other side such an amazing read that certainly had my emotions twisted. Autumn is a young woman who has been through so much pain, hurt and sadness in her life thank god she had her parents house keeper Mary a real treasure. She makes a life changing decision to leave her privileged but cruel life and make it on her own. Autumn finds two friends who envelope her in their protection but when she meets Zed who seems to have even more baggage than her there is something deep between them. I love both Zed and Autumn but with any great read there are parts where you get so frustrated with them and that is what makes this such a great read you are pulled along with them feeling all the emotions they feel and I will admit I had a lump in my throat throughout. You are taken on their roller coaster ride that you really don't expect and I can't wait to read the next one. I received this for my honest and unbiased review and my only regret is I can't give it more than 5 stars.

Where to start with the abundance of emotions this book threw at me?

I’ll start with Autumn, she is one hell of a survivor. This girl has been through so much in her life and just when you think you’ve learned the worst of it there’s something else. It would be very easy for Autumn to be moody and all ‘woe is me’ given her circumstances but its refreshing to see a hard done by heroine who is actually a lot of fun. Yes she has her moments and it’s clear from the outset she doesn’t really live her life but she is still a loveable and relatable character.

Then we meet Zed, *fans oneself* he certainly turns the heat up, and on a scale of one to swoon worthy he’s off the scale! He has a huge weight on his shoulders and his own issues to overcome and although he’s been a bit of a player in the past it’s nothing more than usual. This may seem like a typical player meets good girl story but it’s so much more than that. This is a story of fate and of putting others before yourself, a story of redemption and of life’s happenings not defining us, what’s meant to be will be. It’s a story of hope as well as one of sadness.

Despite the deep twists and secrets within this book we get lots of funny moments usually from Reid (Zed’s best friend) I think I actually fell in love with him! There is light relief within the banter between Autumn and Zed and the friendship Autumn, Bea and Jack share. As much as I wiped at my eyes to hold back the tears I also had to stifle the laughs- just wait until Reid mentions his ‘bald headed yoghurt slinger’.

This was a beautifully written book, the attention to detail was perfect it really made me feel like I was living the story rather than just reading it. I became totally invested in Autumn’s well being so much so that I didn’t want the story to end. The only plus point to finishing this book is that I’m ready for book two! R.G. Corr did an excellent job of leaving me with a desire to delve into Bea and Reid’s world, the way she weaved them into our hearts left me eager to discover their story.

If this is what R.G. Corr produces as a debut I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us…No pressure!

I was gifted a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever read a book that was so emotional and amazing that you know it will be one that stays with you for years to come? Well for me this book is one of them.

The two main characters Zed and Autumn have both experienced loss, grief and heartache. I felt for Autumn from the very beginning, i found myself not wanting to put the book down until i heard her story. Everytime i read another chapter i had more questions i needed answers to.

What had happened to this girl to make her so closed off? Why did she feel unworthy and carry such guilt?

Nothing could have prepared me for the answers. Just when i thought id learned all there was to know and shed every tear i had to shed R.G threw more curveballs in that had me reaching for the tissues once again.

Not only was Autumn dealing with her own loss and guilt but so was Zed, this stories leading man. Battling guilt from the death of his sister Zed closed himself off from his family and instead focused on work, girls and surfing. I love Zed, i love how despite his own pain he helped Autumn feel again, to be alive again and to learn to let people in again. I admit there was a part of the story i really wanted to reach in strangle him and shake some sense into him, but he quickly redeemed himself. Both Autumn and Zed had me feeling all kinds of emotions from sorrow to laughter, there was never a part of this book i wasnt fully immersed in. Not only did Zed and Autumn have my complete attention but so did all the supporting characters too.

Its hard to believe that this story is a debut book for R.G Corr. Autumn rise is a beautifully written story of loss love and finding your way. I cant wait to read Reids story and anything else written from this author.

** ARC received in exchange for an honest review **

So, I have a fellow book lover/best friend who always has phenomenal reading gems. When she finds them she does not stop until I cave and have that reading gem in my reading list. When she found Autumn’s Rise by RG Corr she would not leave me alone. I am freaking happy she didn’t stop. Autumn’s Rise is an amazing journey and a hell of a reading gem that I found myself sending shouty capital texts of TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS.

From the moment, I met Autumn in the prologue of the book I just started praying that she would find that person that would change her world. The prologue simply set the stage for me to be swept away with the thunderous ebb and flow of the crashing waves in the form of Zed. Like Auty’s tortured soul, Zed is just as tortured by the heavy misplaced guilt he harbors. When they collide, I was seriously delirious that it wasn’t an insta-love. Nope, they both had to work and find the love that stared them in the face. I will say this their chemistry though was sizzling and engaging. Autumn’s strength and unfiltered wit pitted against Zed’s brooding and sexy swagger totally made the plot strength undeniable, especially when my heart bled for Auty’s plight at the hands of the evil, Brent.

The beauty of Autumn and Zed’s story is not what either of them experienced and the strength they found as they made their way through the pitfalls of loving. No, the beauty of their story lies in the secondary characters that never sat back like wall flowers. Reid, Bea, Jack, both Maddison parents, and sweet Mary made their presence felt and it was such a show of what family support means.

Between tears and anger and absolute happiness for Autumn and Zed, Autumn’s Rise rose to the top of my 2016 top 10 list of must reads. When you read this book, you will find you can’t help but love their story.

R.G. Corr is a new author to me and I have to say that I fell in love with “Autumn’s Rise” right after reading the prologue. I knew that this story would get me emotional and I certainly was.

Autumn Chamberlain is a young woman who’s gone through so much pain and sorrow in her life that she only has one true friend, her parents house keeper Mary. Through all her pain she packs up what she needs with Mary’s help and starts a new life. In a short year Autumn has done a 180 in changing her life and has a fierce group of friends.

Autumn is still working through her sorrow’s when she meeds Zed a man that has even more baggage than she does. This man has closed himself from the outside world by putting all his focus on work, surfing and occasionally girls.

Can these two damage souls be able to heal one another or are the wound too deep?

Wow! This story is emotionally gripping that I felt like curling into my covers and having a good ugly cry. Autumn and Zed have a lot of deep wounds that I wasn’t entirely sure these two would be able to heal one another, but because of their wounds I think they were able to get some baggage off their chest without feeling judged.

I love both Zed and Autumn, but during certain parts in the story I really wanted to just slap Zed silly to knock some sense into him, but have no fear because he quickly shaped up.

R.G. Corr is a brilliant author because this story took me on a rollercoaster I wasn’t prepared for. Every kind of emotion imaginable was expressed through this story and I loved it. I have been through the ringer and I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store!

Highly Recommend if you want an ugly cry with redeeming and love quality.

Really enjoyed this heartbreakingly beautiful read that was peppered with laughs, tears, secrets, warm fuzzy moments & characters that had oodles of personality!

I couldn’t help but be a cheerleader for Autumn & Zed. The struggles they went through in the recent past & the guilt they experienced throughout the story tugged on my heartstrings big time. I was so thankful that they had each other, as well as a stellar group of family & friends, to help them work through everything. (Mary… you take the cake woman! And Jack, you’re no sliced jalapeno either! Love you both… hard!!)

Autumn was such a strong & courageous woman. Her demons were scary but when she faced them, it was AWESOME. Her excitement at placing new items in her memory box, her drunken ramblings & the gumption she showed at the gala were just a few of the reasons why I liked her so much. Loved it when Zed called her Wildcat.

Zed was all sorts of swoon-worthy & sweet, with a sexy dash of bad boy. I adored his private surf lessons, the introduction of Brent’s face to his fist & his confessions of love to Autumn. Loved that he was able to find his “Moirai” in her.

Bea drove me bonkers with her “I know what’s best for Autumn & it’s not you, Zed” bit & I would’ve LOVED more racy scenes involving Zed’s smokin’ hot surfer body but overall, this was a really good read.

Looking forward to more books in this series! I know Reid’s book is next but I’m hoping there are HEAs planned for Bea, Jack, Dex & possibly Noah in the future too!!

Autumn's Rise by R G Corr

This is an excellent debut book by R G Corrr. The story has great depth, with Autumn, the lead character attempting to rise from the ashes of a heartrending life up to this point.

Having been neglected by her rich, socially accepted parents and then betrayed by a past love, she has fled to another town to train as a nurse and become the person she really wants to be. Her strength of character is so admired by her new friends who know nothing about her past but accept her into their circle. They all realise that Autumn is hiding some great devastating secret and so pull together to show how much they care for her.

This is a story of strength, bravery and deep, loyal friendships as well as an incredible love story that will have your heart melting. Zed, is a tough individual who speaks more with his fists than his mouth but is totally bowled over by August from their first meeting.

All secondary characters are well fleshed out making it easy to like this group of friends as if they were your own.

On the slightly negative side, hence one star subtracted, I did find the writer's style a little too 'wordy' which dragged out some scenes and lost my attention a little. Overall I did enjoy the book and as a first in a series, although a complete stand alone story, it is a great start for the writer to develop the other characters lives and relationships.

*I received this book for an honest review*

It's my first read from this author. The story took off a bit slowly for me. I really liked the chemistry between Zed and Autumn. Both of them have gone through a lot in their lives.
Autumn is very heldback in the beginning, trying to make a fresh start in a new town but still feeling all the emotions from what she went through. She meets Zed, who lost his sister and is broody, but they have an instant connection.

Will Zed push through the walls Autumn has built around her? Will she finally let people into her heart? Or will secrets break everything apart...?

This review is from: Autumn's Rise (Haywater Book 1) (Kindle Edition)

Beautiful, heartwarming and hopeful

Gosh, I really enjoyed this book! It was like a breath of fresh air. I utterly adored Zed, he is definitely a book boyfriend you need in your life!!

Autumn is kind of living a half life....stuck in the past, living with hurt, fear and sorrow....until she meets Zed that is. Zed has had his fair share of heartache too but there's something about Autumn, he can't and won't move on without her. Zed is a bit of a player vowing to never have a relationship, Autumn made the same vow but for so many different reasons to Zed.
But this isn't your average player meets a good girl read it's so much more than that.

Autumn and Zed are beautifully broken characters yet so unbelievably strong at the same time. It's a good thing Zed likes to help put people back together oh and did I mention he's a paramedic?

Not only do we have Autumn and Zed we also get Bea, Jack and Reid. These are some fab characters but Reid is my favourite, he is so funny and I actually think a little pee came out with laughing when he mentioned his bald headed yoghurt slinger!!
