I'm a beautiful woman and I like carefree, no commitment sex. I'm a single man's dream. So when I set my sights on the new bouncer for Forbidden Desires and he doesn't share my enthusiasm for a wild night together, I'm dumbfounded as to why.
Night after night, Levi ignores me–making me want him even more. I flirt and practically throw myself at him, but he's a complete gentleman. His indifference only makes him more desirable. I've made him my next target. He'll be my lover, as soon as I figure out how to wear him down.
My raw sex appeal isn't working with him and maybe there's a reason. He's hiding something underneath his large muscles and adorable dimples. Levi's keeping secrets from me and one night he reveals one of his secrets–he's vowed to be abstinent.
What the hell am I going to do now?
*Recommended for 18+ due to subject matter and sexual content. **HEA, no cliffhanger, interconnected stand-alone novel.
3,8. Gostei muito da história, bem desenvolvida, bem narrada. Achei algumas pontas soltas, mas no fim fiquei admirada!!!!! Gostei muito dos personagens principais!! Vale a leitura.
Okay so at first I was like what’s up with the sports commentary in the prologue but then I understood it led to who the hero Levi becomes in present day. Then I was like the heroine Kendall is a little too cocky and how will I continue reading. But somehow I pushed through. And I’m so glad I did. The dynamic of Levi and Kendall was so cute and real that I truly enjoyed reading this book. Not to mention Brody the hero’s son which essentially sculpted the story. I also admired Kendall’s confidence and strength and how she knew who she was and had no shame.

~ 5 Living the Dream Stars ~
What happens when life throws you a curveball?? Read Levi to find out how Kendall and Levi handle things.
I feel like I have been waiting for Levi by Justine Elvira for a very long time, but let me tell you…..it was well worth the wait!!! This book is exactly why I love reading Justine’s books.
Levi is the second novel in Justine’s Forbidden Desires Series. It is a standalone, but I would recommend reading Noah first. Just because you will meet both Kendall and Levi in Noah. The storylines are completely standalone and separate, but I will say that you will see quite a bit of Skye and Noah in this book as well. So some things could be a spoiler for Noah if you read Levi first.
I have to be honest and say that I loved Levi even more than I loved Noah. This book had everything I have come to expect in my romance stories. There was humor, sex, heartache, but above all there was love. This story just proves love can come in all forms and when you least expect it. I found the characters and storyline to be engaging and full of life. I was sucked into this story right from the start. This is a fairly quick read, but I found myself putting it down so that I could make it last longer. I didn’t want this story to end. This book truly lacked for nothing. The flow and pace were great and the character development was spot on.
I fell in love with Kendall when we met her in Noah and I was so excited to read about her in Levi. I loved getting to know more about Levi in his story. I don’t want to say to much because this is a story you want to unfold for yourself. Just know this is a story you won’t want to miss.
This is a story that was told in Dual POV and isn’t loaded down with a lot of excess drama, but it will melt you heart and your panties ;) and leave you with a HUGE smile on your face. If you are a fan of Justine’s books, don’t miss this GEM!!!
LEVI is a stand-alone novel in the Forbidden Desires series (Book 2). I loved how it gives glimpses about NOAH (Book 1 in the series), although it can be read separately. I am definitely a fan of Justine Elvira witty writing: she manages to write simple stories in the most emotional and steamy way and I don't know how she does it. LEVI is a truly touching book about hopes and dreams. Both main characters are perfect. Kendall is determined and full of girl power, she acts like most readers would expect from a guy but she never denies her feminine side. As for Levi, he's this mysterious, brooding kind of guy but there's a damn good reason for it. It felt realistic and the secondary characters are awesome as well. One tiny flaw: the book is too short! I wanted more even if it all wraps up nicely. Grab your copy!
I almost put the book down, never to read it again, but I persevered. Kendall is a self absorbed brat in the beginning, but as she becomes more emotionally involved in her relationship with Levi, we can see her trying to change and show she cares about others, like Levi. Sure she has a setback or too, falling into "it's all about me" thinking, but overall she becomes more mature by the end of the novel. Levi, of course, is an awesome book boyfriend, even with his actions later in the book. Nice read.
I absolutely loved this story. Couldn't believe it was finally here and then getting to read it was just simply put amazing! This is definitely one that will stay with me for awhile and will be one I recommend people read just like Noah and Mr. Tucker! I don't think it's possible Justin can write a story that doesn't grab you and pull you in and make you feel all the emotions that the characters are feeling.
Levi's story was so sad to start with, right away I noticed that he didn't have a clue how to balance his life between work, girlfriend and son. But after a while he got it.
I read this for one of my July tasks in the SBTB Quarterly Challenge because I needed a book that features baseball. Since I have zero interest in baseball or baseball romance, and this was free on Amazon and a new-to-me author, it seemed like a good choice. The baseball is thankfully minimal—in the prologue, Levi, our titular hero, is drafted to play for the LA Dodgers but abruptly drops out and gives up the chance to go pro for family reasons. Fast forward 8 years later and he is a security guard/baseball coach for his son’s youth team. That’s pretty much the extent of it.
Kendall works as the secretary for the owner of a place called Forbidden Desires, an umbrella organization of sorts for escorting services, nightclubs, etc. But since escorting is illegal, Kendall repeatedly clarifies to confused callers that the women are paid to provide companionship to events, etc. and sex is their own choice. This felt kind of like “oh we don’t provide THOSE services” when there’s really nothing wrong with sex work, but whatever. She got the job through her best friend, Skye, who is married to the owner, Noah. Presumably you learn more about Forbidden Desires in the previous book (Noah) because not much is explained here. The book works as a standalone, but I couldn’t help feeling like part of the worldbuilding for this fictional successful enterprise in NYC was missing.
Kendall has some qualities I liked—she’s confident and she embraces casual sex. Her backstory is a little bit “poor little rich girl”; there was potential for this to be better developed, but it just wasn’t. She openly pursues and propositions Levi, but finally gives up after one too many rejections, which are only made harder by his admission that he’s attracted to her.
Levi is the more “mysterious” one, I guess. He’s been abstinent for years, and Kendall soon learns that his entire life revolves around being a single dad. His son, Brody, is deaf, so there are some nice scenes of them interacting using ASL and Kendall also picking it up. I’m not deaf so I can’t comment on the rep here.
I guess why the low rating? Partly because of what I mentioned above—there’s potential that’s never developed. I’m also not really sure why this is marketed as “erotic romance” because the frequency and heat level of the sex scenes wasn’t higher than a lot of other contemporaries that are published these days but YMMV. And something that really bothered me was how unprofessional they were at work once they start sleeping together. They have sex repeatedly at the workplace not only in her office (that is also her boss’s office, not that he’s ever there), but also in other locations where there are cameras. Noah finally calls them on it after they have sex right in front of a camera in her office (which the security guys can see happening in its entirety), and while Levi apologizes, Kendall’s extremely mature response is to flip off the camera. I don’t have an issue with exhibitionism, but they were AT WORK, ON THE CLOCK. And basically fucked in Noah’s desk chair??? Kendall was terrible at her job and only seemed to get away with things because of her friendship with Skye (Noah literally says this at one point), which also bothered me and made me want to pull her aside and tell her to grow up a little. It felt like the opposite of competence porn, which I love in romance.
Now, it wasn’t all bad—I enjoyed seeing Kendall’s relationship with Levi’s son, Brody, develop. She comes to love Brody as her own, even though she’s never wanted children. And—this may be a spoiler but I don’t really care—even after they are together and she becomes a maternal figure for Brody, she doesn’t suddenly change her mind and want more children. I’m so tired of protagonists who say they don’t want children suddenly getting like 10 kids in the epilogue of books so I appreciate that the author never went down this route.
Also, I’m knocking the rating a bit because of something admittedly kind of petty—but WHY WERE ALL THE NAMES OF COMPANIES THAT EXIST IRL ITALICIZED? Who is her editor that thought this was a good stylistic choice? Everything from Uber to Snapchat to IHOP is italicized and made me want to throw my Kindle at something. So distracting as well.
What is so much better is to leave SOMETHING to ones imagination. Not everyone appreciates this bull with "Do you want to F..." Its just do crass! Leave it at the word sex. I will day it again. ..50 Shades wad so hot because it DID leave ones imagination to create the scenes! They didnt use the F word or have to describe tastes and clearly define where they came from, as if one doesnt already know !! The whole book was ruined for me when Kendal acted so desperate she started making out with a woman to make Levi jealous! Can you say DESPERATE! MANIPULATION!! Its an insult .
This story has a lot of promise. But it doesn't really deliver. I liked the overall storyline, but the characters were not well written and not really believable. Levi comes off as a one-word grunt for the first half of the book, who suddenly turns into a charming single dad? And Kendall? Not a likable kinda girl. She comes off as selfish and irresponsible, who suddenly becomes motherly and caring - didn't seem realistic. And the love scenes were crude (c**nt? really?? that is an insult in my book) and lacking any chemistry.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What the actual fuck? I can not for the life of my believe that I once wanted to read this book. It's not only awful but it's also extra cringy. You'll read over and over again about our h who's so in love with herself that she can't waste one minute without complementing her figure and how much of a catch she is. She's so very tired of those desperate men who ask for escorts late at night, while she's exactly the same. She's desperately running after Levi.
I've not even read two chapters before I decided to stop reading.
“I’ve wanted him ever since he smiled over at me with those gorgeous dimples of his.”
Kendall has lusted after Levi since the first time she laid eyes on him. She’s not interested in commitment, but she’s definitely interested in having one sexy night with the gorgeous guy who works security at her friend’s nightclub. She’s a stunning woman, who knows her place in the world, and how men look at her. She can’t understand why Levi doesn’t seem interested in her. The more he rebuffs her, the more she wants him – to the point that she decides that she needs to be completely direct with him.
Levi Bryant has responsibilities. He gave up a burgeoning career and turned his own life upside down out of love and duty. He can’t afford to have any kind of relationship to rock the careful balance of his life. However, Kendall is well under his skin and, after a year of her sending out signals and practically throwing herself at him, he finds his resolve crumbling.
“She fills a void I didn’t even know was missing until I opened myself up to her and allowed her to be a part of my life. She’s fun to be around. She makes me feel alive.”
When he starts to let her into his life, he finds that things aren’t so difficult, and that they could make a relationship work. However, a harsh wake-up call has him questioning if a relationship with her is really worth the risk.
“For the first time in my life I’m ready to try and be in a committed relationship and now the guy I’m with has the issues.”
So, I’ve got to be honest and say that I wasn’t particularly fond of Kendall to begin with. I couldn’t connect with her and found her cocky in her confidence of her own beauty – she seemed somewhat shallow and only wanted Levi for one thing. However, I warmed up to her when she realised that she wanted much more with him, and how willing she was to go the extra mile for him. As the story progressed, I loved how much colour, fun and joy she brought to Levi’s life, and I felt really sorry for her when it seemed that he wouldn’t give her a chance.
Overall, a super sexy read with some heartfelt moments.
Justine Elvira's Levi is the book 2 of the Forbidden Desires series. And oh God what a forbidden desire book it is!! It is a really good book with ample of emotion and a helluva lot of drama going on.
This book is about a confident city girl, Kendall, who is frank about anything and everything. She is confident enough to even initiate matters related to sex and hookups. Thats sucha credible ability tho.. wish I had some of her confidence 🙇🏻♀️ But one person she hasn't been able to convice of it is Levi.
Leviticus Byrant was a much sought after young baseball player until some family circumstance happened and he had to leave his career when it was at it's peak. He now works at Forbidden Desires as security. But he has resisted to Kendall's charm and persuasion even if he didnt want to.
Anything more I say will be hit with spoilers so I'll leave it to it. Damn if there aren't enough hot scenes to make you high! It's like a heaven lol. But be warned, this book is really good. I mean really really good.
Justine's way of narration is smoooottthhhe... and I loved reading it. (I finished it in less than 24 hours!) I hope to read more of her books in future, *fingers crossed*
I must say this book was way better then the first one. This book had my attention from the start and I couldn't put it down. Levi and Kendall are two strong characters. Levi had a promising career but stopped it when tragedy struck. He took the road he never thought he'd take. He is doing security for Noah. He has also taken a 5 year break from woman. That all changes when Kendall challenges him. Kendall has had a crush on Levi for a year now. He has done nothing to show interest. She throws him a challenge but gets more in return. I loved how she made changes to her life and learned a new way to communicate. She does what she never thought she'd do and found love. Levi is hard headed and protective. He has everyone reason to and it almost made him lose Kendall. These two are fun in and out of the bedroom, although most of their fun happens out of bed.. These two don't care if people watch their sexy times. My only complaints would be if the author would have added more to their wedding and another kid into the mix. They are minor things I just wanted more of. This book is great and it brings more awareness to deaf community and sign language.
I can say so many things about this book but I want to get personal for a minute. Levi and Kendall story touched me in ways that had me in tears remembering a time when I was Skye, the best friend there when a moment that was extra important. I was Kendall finding my "home" and giving it 100% and not even meaning to. I am Levi daily and am proud of it. My life changed 14 years ago and I have no regrets. Losing friends, family, and social life. It is a great feeling that I would not change for the world.
This is one of Justine finest work. It showcases the growth, strength, understanding, and sexiness of an author. I found myself stuck in a life that someone else was living, intruding on private moments that was not mine to share. Levi, was worth the wait and will forever have a place on my "books to revisit" folder on my device. I can't wait to dream of the events in which touched me so deeply.
Selfless and Devoted Superhero - 5 Fantastic Stars
Sometimes dreams change, and Brody doesn’t regret one minute of the change he made all of those years ago. He put all of his needs aside to focus his attention on his family. So when the vivacious, gorgeous, confident, and passionate Kendall tries to break through his walls, he has a hard time fighting off the feelings he has for her.
This story was absolutely fantastic; each word was beautifully written to create a story full of feelings and emotions. The characters were easy to love and I enjoyed every single minute……I did not want the story to end!!! Justine, I need more!!!!!!!
Levi is the second book in the Forbidden Desires series by the talented Justine Elvira. Don’t worry if you haven’t read Noah the first book; each book in this series is an interconnected stand-alone novel so they do not have to be read in order.

This is a very different approach in storytelling. Levi gives up his dreams for his only priority. He develops a life around that and keeps himself from wanting change. For me it was a bit predictable what the priority was, but it did play out unexpected.
Great message: Change has a way of forcing itself in your life. Whether you want it or not.
Heated scenes and a great story! The ending was also refreshingly different.
I'm once again amazed by how much depth of feeling this author drew out of me while reading this book. This story was special to me in so many ways that is will be one of favorite reads of this year. The characters in this book melted my heart and didn't want to let go. Thank you so much for making it real.
This was my first book from this author and what a wonderful book it was. I think I used a whole box of Kleenex, it was so emotional. This was a wonderful and inspiring book. I was impressed with this author her characters had depth and the story was spot on.
This started a little slow for me, maybe because I’m not into sports. But I hung in there and soooo glad I did! These characters make you feel like their friends! The story is great! It will make you laugh and cry!!
