Full of inspiration, practical ideas and expert advice, this fun and uplifting book will get you thinking differently, give you the confidence to engage your creativity and get things done. Featured alongside the best-loved prints as well as new work from renowned graphic artist Anthony Burrill.
This is a blend. It's a showcase for Burrill's work. It is an auto-biography. It is something about he "gets things done". And something about how he runs his business. With smart remarks that could serve as a Tweets:
> If I’ve made a decision about something that I feel is valid and it’s questioned, I’ll fight for it as much as I can.
What does it mean "as much as I can"? Does it imply a butcher knife? Is it limited to throwing a tantrum? It is my observation that people do not question your decisions, but rather don't understand them. And the whole book radiates this sort of cheap bravado, reminding me of melodramatic stock artists that are simply a-holes.
I’m a writer, not a visual artist, but this book was still really helpful for thinking through some of my creative blocks. I’m inspired to do more to develop my skills and passions and curiosities. Aside from that, the book is just stunning to look at and the page designs make for a delightfully easy read.
Packed with simple graphics, this book has interviews and one page thought blurbs on art, life, making & creating, and finding inspiration. An interesting (and fast because there's little text) read for the visual media creative.
I was surprised how much I liked this book. It was very simple, but effective (just like Anthony Burrell’s work), making it easy to feel the advice could be used in my own projects.
