***STANDALONE NOVEL***

Dane Prescott spends his days staring at perfect holes, and knows how to use his stiff shaft to get there. He’s as hot as he is good at the sport he loves more than breathing.

Dane has one goal and one goal only, to be on the professional golf tour. It’s who he is and what he lives for. Women, although fun, aren't in his long-term plans.

Beverly Whitfield didn’t start off as the confident woman she is today. Teased mercilessly as a child and always feeling second-best, she set out to change her future and is finally putting herself first. Never in her wildest imagination did she think she’d fall for a man with stunning good looks and sex seeping from his pores. And, oh yeah, he plays golf.

To those who say golf is complicated and frustrating, Dane says, “No, that’s love.”

Golf isn’t exactly what one would call an exciting sport. It definitely isn’t one you’d call sexy. Right?

Well, helloooo Dane Prescott – the bad boy of golf and the man who made golf sexy.

Dane is a manwhore. He hardly remembers your name after a night of shenanigans and all he really cares about is making it into the golf pros. That is, until he meets Beverly at a charity dinner and immediately recognizes that she is not like all the other rich girls who flock around him. But Beverly wants nothing to do with him and if he has any hopes in getting her to go out with him he’ll have to work as hard at it as he does at golf. And also try not putting his foot in his mouth every time they’re together.

This was such a fun and sexy read. Dane was utterly adorable in trying to get Beverly over on his side but Beverly worked hard to build a life for herself away from all the toxic people at her parent’s country club and wasn’t about to let one guy drag her back in. Their banter and interactions were hilarious and the sexual tension between them had my toes curling. The sexy times were HOT and made even hotter by Dane and his dirty mouth.

A really enjoyable read that is relatively low on angst but high on hotness and humour.

Dane Prescott is exactly what I want in a hero between the pages when I'm reading and Joanne Schwehm got him just right! I was initially taken in by that cover *swoon* but soon found Gripped to be a sexy romance with plenty of tension to keep me turning pages. I also love that it's part of a family saga and there are other books in this series. 5 Gripping STARS!

The family we r looking for, a good n lovely parent, siblings alway support each other n everyone has their own dream, career to build, now some of them found another half.

It's all my dream when I was young, now? No anymore, I have seen enough, heard enough, there were too many ugly things out there, that's we need some fairy tales to make us believe tomorrow is better.

Dane n Beverly are that kind of story, but do we really need Katie? Her appearance only makes the story totally fall into the kind of unbelievable Cinderella story.

Gripped (Prescott #2) by Joanne Schwehm
4 stars!!

“Never have I given my heart to anyone, but it’s yours if you want it.”

Oh Joanne Schwehm delivers another fine male specimen in the shape of Dane Prescott in Gripped. If you thought his brother was swoony in Incumbent, then be prepared to melt again as another Prescott man meets his match.

“Take it from me, don’t ever put this sport before love. Golf will always be there; love might not be.”

This was the book that initially made me seek out this series, I have worked in the golf industry more or less all my working life and it is one sport that doesn’t really make it that often into books. While this is definitely a romance I was hoping for a little more golf tour action but once again their careers are more a back drop with the relationship taking centre stage.

Dane Prescott was definitely a ladies’ man and he loves a “birdie” or two (pardon the pun). His “eagle” eyes quickly found those of Beverly and if Dane was a sailor she would have been his “Albatross”…keep reading I’m throwing them all in… Dane needed to make his “pitch” good to win Beverly over. Beverly made her friends “green” with envy when she caught the attention of Dane at a charity “ball,” especially as she didn’t need to wave a “flag” either, but would Dane be able to make this a “hole in one” or would he only make “nearest the pin?” Would this be a “drive” into the unknown for both of them or do they both still have a “fairway” to go? Will Dane still have his “balls” by the end or will Beverly chew him up like a “pro?” Would Dane be up to “par” or would he need a “mulligan” or two? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. However, while this was all new to both of them Joanne Schwehm really captured the romantic fall of Dane and Beverly and once again I was championing her characters from the beginning.

“…but stretching in golf is like foreplay before sex. You can’t just thrust right into it and not expect a bit of pain. If you’re relaxed and ready to go, it will be much more enjoyable. Trust me…I’m an expert.”

Dane was a young man sowing his wild oats, he was a player on and off the course until he met Beverly at a function. Dane was a man that had always said love wouldn’t happen to him and had constantly made fun of his brother who was well and truly whipped. He was always told that he would know when he had found “the one” and he constantly disregarded it as rubbish…that was before he clapped eyes on Beverly. Golf always had and would come first for Dane. He was on the cusp of getting his tour card and the big times were firmly within his sights. He had his eyes set on success, fame and fortune but sometimes life throws you a curve ball.

“To me, a golf course was like a woman – there were curves, plateaus and holes, each needing the proper navigation. Being unprepared could lead to a dreadful day.”

Beverly made this book for me. She had worked hard to get where she was today. Having been victim to bullies for most of her childhood with the nickname Heavy Beverly she had shed the weight, she eats well, trains hard and has a figure to die for, much to the chagrin of the bullies. Beverly was all woman and while she still had her insecurities underneath she knew when she wanted to she could compete with the best of them. Beverly resented golf, the sport had taken her parents away from her as she was left to fend for herself while they lorded it up on the fairways. Money in this instance could not buy happiness and all Beverly really wanted was some attention. Her parents loved her though and while sometimes you felt that their priorities were wrong, they would have done anything for her.

“The man was a walking orgasm waiting to happen, and since I was overdue for one…”

This book was a fun, flirty read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved that Beverly didn’t fall at Dane’s feet, she makes him work for it. From the very beginning I loved both these characters and was with them all the way as love hits them when they least expected it. I cannot wait to read more from the Prescott family.

Dane Prescott is a man whore. Simply put. He meets woman, has sex with them, and moves on to the next woman. He’s also all about the game of golf- teaching and hoping to become pro. He’s self-confident and has no trouble getting woman at all. Beverly Whitfield is a teacher who also volunteers for underprivileged children. She’s beautiful but insecure stemming from her childhood and has issues around that. To say she doesn’t like golf is an understatement. Her parents always put her second to it as a child.

Dane and Beverly meet at a charity event and they are instantly attracted to each other. Will Dane put his ways behind him and be faithful to Beverly? Can he put Beverly before golf? Can Beverly overcome her own insecurities and trust Dane? Can they make it work when distance separates them?

Let me just say I loved both of these characters, individually and as a couple. Gripped is written in dual point of view and Joanne does a great job with both. Dane is hot. Hot. Hot. Hot. He’s sexy as hell with a dirty mouth. He goes after what he wants and despite his ways as a man whore he’s really a decent guy. Beverly is a great, relatable female character. Like a lot of us, she’s insecure and has to let some of that go. She’s sweet but also has an attitude and a sharp tongue at times but I think that’s just her defenses coming out. Together they are a great couple- they just have to work through some things to realize that and make it work.

I really enjoyed Gripped. The dual point of view is great, the characters are fun, it’s well written and it’s perfectly paced. Seeing characters from Book 1, Incumbent, was also fun. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and more about the Prescotts! Go pick up Gripped- I promise you will be gripped from the beginning!

Beverly Whitfield hates golf. Without thought, her parents always put her second to the sport.

Her social standing only matters when she's home and forced to face the self absorbed elite snobs at the country club. She would rather be volunteering at a homeless shelter than be around these people.

Dane Prescott puts family first and golf a close second. Relationships aren't on his radar. He prefers nameless encounters until he meets Beverly.

This story will stick with me. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships between all of the characters and found myself hoping that some of the secondary characters get their own stories. You know you've found a good author when you finish the book and immediately check kindle for other works.

This book is highly recommended.

Come to mama you sexy golfer Dane!! What a sweet story. I loved the relationship development and although I wanted to slap both Beverly and Dane and times, I was happy with the ending. There are a few twist but they fit perfectly into the story. Loved it!

And thank you Joanne Schwehm, just the mention of Bentley reminded me how much I loved him!

Dane Prescott can give me a golf lesson anytime;)

Gripped was my first read by Joanne Schwehm, and I definitely enjoyed her writing and characters. My preferred perspective when I read is dual first person point of view, which is exactly what readers get in Dane and Beverly's story. With both characters' viewpoint, we get a complete look at why both Dane and Beverly don't do relationships and how the attraction they feel for one another is unlike anything they've ever felt.

There are quite a few missteps along the way, which makes sense due to Beverly's insecurities and Dane's lifestyle. Golf is Dane's life; his dream to be a pro is almost realized when he meets Beverly, so any type of relationship they have is going to be a long distance one, and because Dane has never really had a girlfriend, he mishandles some situations, which causes Beverly to doubt his feelings and question if she'll ever come first in anyone's life.

Dane Prescott may be a manwhore who can’t even remember the names of the girls he’s had a one night stand with, but with one look at Beverly, he wants to catalog everything about her, which puts him in a difficult situation because no one is going to stand in his way of achieving his goals, but his desire for Beverly and his determination to prove that he’s more than his reputation makes him question exactly what he wants.

Beverly Whitfield has worked hard to become a confident woman after everything she dealt with in high school. She’s an amazing person who gives her time to underprivileged kids, and Dane recognizes how smart, stunning, and giving she is, which is why he fights with her to spend time with him and give him a chance to show her what they can be.

Dane and Beverly’s story is heart warming, steamy, and a bit angsty, and Dane is one hell of a filthy talker who has so much more than just a good set of hands;)

Gripped gives great insight into what determination and hard work can accomplish, both in reaching goals and having a good relationship. It also shows how one’s past may complicate the present, but fighting through those obstacles makes it all worth the pain and heartache.

I've had the absolute pleasure to beta read for Joanne Schwehm. Reading The Prescott Series has made me very possessive toward the Prescott men. First came Drake, the sexiest politician you'll ever meet. Coming into an election year, you can't help but wish he were real and were around to beat the idiots who are in the running to be our next President. But then, came Dane. As much as I loved Drake, I love Dane even more. The sexy golfer will have you immediately falling in love with him. He speaks his mind, which is often deliciously dirty. He is honest to a fault. And once he opens his heart, he loves as hard as he plays. Through Dane Prescott, Joanne brilliantly took the reader on a journey of self discovery and growth. Gripped is compelling, sexy as hell, and honest...a must read.

Holy crap this was an excellent book
Those Prescott men are amazing. Dane Prescott is a 4F man. Names are not required because he doesn't need to know it. He just one thing and one thing only. Get laid and leave, his typical MO. That is until he had to go to a benefit at a country club on long Island. He meets the beautiful Beverly She is full of confidence and Dane REALLY likes that.
They are an amazing couple. Who have their problems but in the end they are perfect together.

I adored Incumbent (although I have yet to review it, you know how it is *sigh*) so I couldn't wait to unearth all of Dane's secrets from the small glimpse we have previously had of him.

Dane's life literally revolves around golf, he eats, breathes and sleeps the sport. Desperate to fulfill his dreams of becoming a professional golfer he dedicates all his time to being the best he can be. Dane is incredibly self-aware, realising he doesn't have the time to devote to another person he takes his intimacy where he can find it and never progressing to anything more than one night. While I didn't particularly like his attitude to his encounters, not even bothering to know his conquests names, I couldn't fault him for his reasoning. His relationship with his family shows the emotional depth Dane is capable of, if only he were able to take another persons feelings into consideration. Can anything come before golf in Dane's heart???

Beverley has spent her entire life coming in second to golf, her parents social life and status revolves around the sport, so it isn't any wonder Beverley has a few issues with the sport. Having survived the teenage years of eating her feelings, a sense of abandonment to a sport and the ubiquitous bullying; Beverley has matured into a beautiful person both inside and out. However, her emotional damage runs deep and translates into a lot of insecurity about her body image, understandable and heart breaking. Unfortunately, mean people exist at any age as clearly shown by the ugliness within the narrative.

When Dane and Beverley meet at a golf charity gala, sparks fly but more than that a connection they hadn't planned on or felt before takes them both by surprise. Dane is brutally honest about his expectations and previous 'relationships'. Although Beverley really isn't the casual sort of girl, her attraction to Dane obliterates her sense of self-preservation, although she does try to maintain emotional distance to protect her heart.

Things between Beverley and Dane progress quickly and at a deep, intense level neither is willing to acknowledge, fueling the angst and tension within the narrative. There are a number of sub-plots that not only add to the overall drama within the story but also to the character development and connection the reader feels to both the story and the characters. I want to tell you more I really, really do - but NO it's best you discover just how compassionate and giving Beverley and Dane are. Sometimes the life you have planned for yourself isn't the only thing to matter, fate/destiny provides the what and more importantly the who to complete your life and yourself ♥

I adored being able to witness the progression of Drake and Lucy's relationship from Incumbent to Gripped alongside the foundation for Gretchen's story in the next book in the series (Title Unknown at present).

Gripped contains it's fair share of angst and drame but the character development and outside events turn it into a heart warming, fires burning romance ;)

description

This is not my first novel by this author and will not be last. Ms. Schwehm has a finesse about her writing style that makes it easy to get involved with the characters and story.

Dane is the golfer trying to go pro who has no time in his life for anything more than one night. He doesn't remember names because he does need to, nor have the desire to want to. He wants to make it to the pros and nothing is going to stand in his way. To him relationships are messy and unnecessary. He is happy the way things are is planning on keeping things that way.

Beverly is a kind heart who grew up in a privileged home but never quite fit in. She spent most of her life feeling insecure and she is just getting to a place where she feels comfortable in her own skin. But having to attend a gala with those who put her down is not high on her to-do list. The best thing to come of this night is mischievous golfer who gets seated next to her.

Dane and Beverly are literally on two different planets. They have different paths, different goals and different desires. Dane is playboy and Beverly is a school teacher who volunteers her time to those in need. But despite all that, they have chemistry in spades and just work out well together as friends. Their budding relationship is fun and sweet to watch develop; but it isn't all smooth sailing. When past insecurities and current lifestyle rear their ugly heads who knows how things will turn out.

I have quick become a fan of this series, I look forward to the moments that are spent learning about the other siblings' life and of course gearing me up for what is to come next. This was another solid installment, it was sweet and fun, with a little bit of suspense, a lot of heart and of course some heat.

Hot Golfer with a hidden weapon called Jeeves...Strong and Compassionate Heroine...Instant connection...smoking HOT chemistry....Cover Porn (that back).... Gripped has all this and more. It a book that keeps pulling you in the more you read. It has you thinking everything is going to be Happily Ever After and then something else happens pulling you even more into the store and having you fall just a little bit more in love with the characters.

I loved Dane, then I wanted to tell him to put his foot in his mouth, and then I loved him again a whole lot more. He surprised me and I loved to see his character grow. I loved getting into his head and experiencing him caring for someone else for the first time. Beverly is a female character you are going to love. Yes she has some insecurities but it made her more real and relate able. She she a heart of gold and you can't help but going through her emotions right along with her. I loved the two together. They had both emotional and physical chemistry. I loved their story from beginning to end and ever road bump in between.

I did not read book one in the Prescott Series and I didn't fell lost at all. If anything it had me wanting to read Drake and Lucy's story after getting more of them in Gripped. Plus we get lots of the rest of the Prescott Clan in this book. I especially can't wait to get Josh's story, tattoos and piercings....yes please. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for more of the Prescotts.

After reading the Incumbent, which I loved, I was super excited for Gripped. The Prescott family is full of sexy men and a hot to trot sister. This family has become one of my favorite families that I’ve read so far. I can’t wait for each and every one of their books. Dane’s especially.
Dane is an up and coming golf hot shot. He breathes the game. His goal in life is to make the PGA tour and nothing and no one will get in his way. Dane is such a lovable character. He’s a whole lot of manwhore but the relationship he has with his family makes him beyond endearing. And the way he fell in love was so fun to watch.
Beverly came into Dane’s life and shook it up. They fell hard and fast. Beverly was so real to me. Her fears, her insecurities and her hesitations of being with Dane were all very relatable making the book that much better.
Joanne Schewhn knocked Gripped out of the park. Her writing just gets better and better. This sexy golfer stole my heart and may even make me tune into the PGA tour from now on if golf produces men like him! I can’t make for the next Prescott Family book.
Gripped can be read as a standalone but since I loved Incumbent too, you should read that as well, you won’t be sorry with this series

Well they all fall in time. Dane Prescott only loved two things that is His FAMILY & Golf. He was on his way to the top at getting his Pro Card. Never wanting a relationship, just someone to warm his bed from time to time. That was until he saw her at a banquet one night. Beverly grew up around stuffy rich people and Golf. She has a love / hate relationship with the sport from childhood. Not wanting to disappoint her Mother she went to the Banquet. What she didn't expect was to be seated next to a Sexy as Sin guy. The chemistry was thick but She wasn't a one night stand type but she just might make an exception with Dane. Join the Journey of Dane and Beverly. Can Dane show Beverly that she is worth exploring what this is between them and take a chance with her heart. Has Dane found The One like his Brother Drake did. Is he ready to go all in for more then a One Night Stand. I for one don't watch Golf but the way the author wrote this story Golf is Sexy. I recommend this book. Grab your copy.

My father played golf, I played when I was younger (not very good); I have since lost the desire to be out on the course but I loved all of the memories this book brought back.
