⚫The whole gang that forms from book two, Scarlet.
What I didn't like:
⚫ Apart from Cinder, the first book, every other book also felt like Cinder's.
⚫ Follow Up Point The covers are pretty but they seem a little deceiving: Yes, the books have the other Disney princesses, but they feel like side characters in their own books. Because there was Cinder everywhere. I don't have any hate towards her. But, if you are marketing a book with a new character, give that character the main attention.
Even as someone who normally isn’t into fantasy, dystopia, fairy tale retellings, or popular mainstream series, this was a pretty great series. The best book for me was Cress, given the climatic and plot-turning scenes at the end. Two in particular. One of which, without giving anything away, was a very revealing scene where a character finds out some information about her family and background and where she comes from. The other of which is a fight/battle scene that takes place on top of a roof. My favorite characters in this series are Cinder, Cress, and Thorne. All of the characters work well in the story though, and each has his or her own important role. I mostly prefer the characters from books 1-3, as I thought they were a little more well-developed. The writing in these books makes the story flow very smoothly. They are easy reads, even with how thick they are. I really enjoyed the clever spin Marissa Meyer put on fairy tale personas combined with futuristic elements.
I had high expectations when I started reading The Lunar Chronicles. I was intrigued by the idea that they were both science fiction and fairy tale retelling. Plus, I was captivated by the beautiful covers. So going in I was expecting a lot; and, I admit, I wasn’t disappointed. This series was fantastic, and quickly became one of my top favorites. The world, the characters, and the plot made these books impossible to put down.
The writing is enticing and engaging and draws you in right from the start. Every sentence advances the plot and adds to the story so that there wasn’t a single dull moment. The original ideas and detailed storyline prevented these books from becoming boring and cliché. In fact, the combination of a fairy tale retelling and science fiction was genius. It made the story unique and highly entertaining. I absolutely adored the wide variety of genres they contained: action, adventure, romance, science fiction, coming-of-age, etc…. It allows room for anyone to enjoy these books, regardless of what genre you usually go for.
What I appreciate most about this series is the diverse cast of characters. Each character is uniquely different in both personality and appearance. Anyone reading these books can find a character—or multiple—that they can relate to on some level. The author does a fantastic job at letting you see into the characters lives. You get a crystal-clear image of what it’s like to be them, allowing you to put yourself in their place and connect with them on an emotional level, so that even if you can’t relate to their personality, you can understand their perspective. The many characters in this series are lovable and easy to get attached to. If you read these, I guarantee you will instantly fall in love with the heroes of this story.
Throughout the series, the reader is shown and taught many things. The books reveal the importance of true friendship and acceptance, and how important it is to try to understand someone else and what they’ve been through before judging them. It also demonstrates a lot about being heroic, bravery, and never giving up, no matter how frustrating or difficult the task may be. It encourages the reader to stand up for themselves, for others, and to stand up for what’s right, even if they’re the only one doing so. The characters all have their own insecurities and learn how to overcome them along the way. They learn to believe in and accept themselves for who they are. That even though they might feel inadequate, they can be a hero too. Other than this, the series dwells on how beauty comes from within. The Lunar people are obsessed with being the most beautiful, but in the end, their outward appearance isn’t what truly mattered. It’s the things you are on the inside that make you beautiful. Overall, The Lunar Chronicles do a remarkable job at teaching the readers to believe in themselves, and in showing them they can be beautiful and heroic too, no matter who they are.
I highly recommend this series to all readers. Even if you’re not into reading, I encourage you to give these a try. The characters are lovable and relatable, and the storyline is unique and engaging. You will be inspired and entertaining all the way through. I think this series would be great for both teens and adults. If you read The Lunar Chronicles, I assure you that you won’t regret it.
AAAAHHH!!! Soooo amazing and fun! I love the main plot and how they go so well with the side plots and the romance stories just tie it all together in a perfect little bow! Like this, but purple:🎀 Idk if that makes sense but I feel like purple is the right color for this series 😁
THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK SERIES EVER. It is so cute. If you are putting it off because you aren't really interested, Read It!! I'm not joking it will change your life! I am completely obsessed 😁 I swear I feel like I could cry and squeal and throw the book at the same time. It is amazing 😍 it has the best ship that you grow to be obsessed with (CRESSWELL 4 EVA) All of the books in the series have a five star rating in my opinion. To be honest it messes up other books. I always base my ratings off The Lunar Chronicles. The series deserves way more than five stars.
Honestly, one of the BEST book series. Humour, representation, female-lead characters, and SO well-written. I could go on and on about this series for hours. It is such a unique concept, which Marissa Meyer materialized in a very smooth and appealing manner. Not to mention, the little easter eggs from the original fairytales. An excellent read. A MUST-read!
Each individual book is okay. They definitely can’t be read alone without noticing some plot holes or missing details, but bingeing all of these books is probably one of the best decisions I’ve made this week. If you’re going to read this series you have to read them together. After reading Cinder I was impressed but not completely invested in the story but by the fourth book I started having dream about the books. I finished all four in less than 3 days, they’re a pretty easy read. Meyers wrote a great twist to classic fairy tales. I hope they make them into movies too!
I LOVE the overall story of the Lunar Chronicles, but tbh I thought the book was too slow. I still think this series is amazing and has the best plot twists.
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) - 4 Stars Cinder, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen - and a dangerous temptation. Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future.
This story was an imaginative take on the classic Cinderella story. I like how the author was also able to weave in some other aspects of different fairy tales. I felt so bad for Cinder. There were definitely some heart wrenching parts.
Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) - 4.5 Stars Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.
I absolutely loved Scarlet and Wolf's story!! I was not as interested in the Cinder parts but I did like all the action.
Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) - 3.5 Stars Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they're plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army. Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she's just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice. When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
With as much as I actually liked cress this book took me a while to get through.
Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) - 3 Stars Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mark her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana. Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won't approve of her feelings for her childhood friend--the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn't as weak as Levana believes her to be and she's been undermining her stepmother's wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that's been raging for far too long.
Wow, for some reason it took me quite a while to get through this one. This last book did not keep my attention; while I was interested to see the outcome and what happened to the characters, this book dragged on a lot.
I know that this isn’t much of a review and I am no professional but I don’t care. I’ll start if off in a review like way though. I really recommend this book for people with at least the slightest bit of imagination. Which is pretty much everyone. You will love this book because I have nothing to say to you that will make you not like it nor is there anything in the book that is not good. It is fantastic. So read it. Now. What are you waiting for. Sit down and read. Well you can fishing my review if you want. But. You should read it. I might be annoying to some people but I’m sorry that my opinion is true. There are so many negative opinions out there. Which I don’t get. You try and write a great book series and let’s see how well you do. No offense. But just saying. Please do not take this in a bad way. I’m just stating my opinion(facts).
I have to completely disagree with all of the reviews saying that this book is not good. Because TRUTHFULLY. This is the best series I have ever read. I had never liked reading much, but since I read this series, I have read a LOT of books. I’d like to say thank you Marissa Meyer. I really loved the whole theme of the series. How every book tied together in some unthinkable way. I mean. To write books that good requires serious talent. You are the best writer EVER. So creative and you understand how to write true feelings and how people react. And the humor in this book. LOVED IT. Like my favorite character is Thorne. He is hilarious. I love all of the characters. Cinder’s knowledge. Kai’s sympathy. Iko’s wit. And EVERYONE ELSE. OMGosh I love everyone. And Winter. I thought I was crazy myself when Winter went a little more crazy than normal. But that’s good. It made me feel like I was a part of the story. Which made me sad when I realized that I wasn’t. And that I had to return to reality. Maybe someday though. I might find out that I am special like Cinder. ( I’ll use Special so that I don’t spoil anything, but u know what I mean)oooh. I can’t describe how in love I am. If I could marry a book then id get married right now. I nearly died when I finished the series but you know, if you love something you got to learn to let it go. But I didn’t even let it go. I will read this series every year if I can. People might say it is a waste of my time. But no. I really recommend reading this series. If you don’t. Your loss. But it was definitely not a waste of my time. I do t know how the others think this series is not good. But everyone has their own opinions. Seriously though. This is amazing. You are truly talented. And you have inspired me. ME. To think about being an author one day. You have given me a bigger imagination and made me think in ways I didn’t even know I could. You even helped me with my writing abilities. I am so much better than before. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. For being so brilliant. And inspiring me. I love you and your books so much. Your amazing and awesome. I know I haven’t met you but I love you. #cressandthorne🤣. Ok. Bye
For a change, I am going to be reviewing a series in its entirety in just one blog post. I can remember seeing the covers for this series of books and always wondering about what secrets were hidden beneath them. A Glass shoe, a red cape… what did these things represent? After some time, I read the synopsis and realized that they were one of my favorite types of stories: fairy-tale re-tellings. I have always loved these types of stories because they have predictable points, but can also completely surprise you, which is exactly what these books did. Warning: Spoilers are included. You can read the first book review and then you’ll probably want to stop since there are spoilers for the rest of the series.
Series: The Lunar Chronicles
Titles: Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Winter
Author: Marissa Meyer
Age Group: Teens
Cinder is a cyborg. Scarlet is a farm girl. Cress has been imprisoned on a lonesome satellite for too long. Winter is the Lunar Princess. Each girl takes turns to tell their story of bringing peace between their two planets.
Cinder, based off Cinderella, tells of a cyborg girl who fixes the prince’s robot. Then, when Cinder’s stepsister Peony gets the plague, Cinder is put into a testing program to help find a cure. Prince Kai begins to fall for her and she must fight the feelings she also feels. Meanwhile, tensions between Earth and Luna are growing.
Scarlet is based off Little Red Riding Hood. This girl meets Wolf, a street fighter, who tries to help her find her grandmother who is missing. Wolf’s loyalties are constantly tested between helping her and working for his lunar gang. Soon, Scarlet teams up with Cinder and her small group of rebels.
Next there is a retelling of Rapunzel: Cress. When Cress finally escapes her satellite with the aid of Carswell Thorne, she becomes entwined in Cinder’s plans to thwart the Lunar Queen. The Queen is trying to force a marriage alliance on Prince Kai, something that they cannot let happen.
The final book, Winter, is a twist on Snow White. Winter is the beautiful Princess of Luna. She loves her guard Jacin, something of which the Queen would never approve. When the others arrive to overthrow Levania, Winter takes lots of risks to help them succeed. To complicate the plot further, Winter’s mental health declines throughout the book. All Lunars can use glamour to make them appear prettier to others. However, Winter has always refused to use it, which causes Lunars to have issues. Throughout the book, Winter starts to almost go insane, hallucinating at some points. Although she may have some mental issues, they weren’t the focus of the book. The book was a wonderful ending to the series.
I would recommend this series because it was quite fun to read. The plot was simple, but also complicated in a hard to explain way. Some parts were easy to predict, but others were quite surprising.
Happy Reading!

This contains a bit of spoilers from the whole series. Wow. This whole series was so incredible and unique and an amazing idea! Futuristic fractured fairy tail. A Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White story but in billions of years, and there’s people on the moon! I absolutely love how in each book Marisa Meyers added small little details of the og fairy tail into the story but made it more complicated and not all picture perfect. Cinderella losing her shoe at the ball, Cinderella being treated like a servant by her evil step mom and sisters, Cinderella being chosen by the prince, etc Little red riding hood living on a farm outside of town, her gramma goes missing, gramma is killed by the wolf, etc. Rapunzel saved from her tower by the guy, guy goes blind, Rapunzel cries into his eyes and he can see again, guy cutting rapuzel’s long hair short, etc. Snow White’s evil step mom is jealous of her because she’s more beautiful than her, Snow White is driven away from her home/ step mom, Snow White is unconscious because she’s poisoned by a candy apple by her step mom, the prince saves her with a kiss, etc.
Every single one of these details is used in the story but changed a little bit and I love it!
Cinder loses her foot at the ball, Cinder is treated like she’s just a robot, a lowly cyborg, by her step mom and one of her step sisters, the other sister dies, Cinder was chosen by the Emperor over everyone else, over countless other girls that loved him, etc Scarlet lived in a farmhouse outside of town and made deliveries of drag produce to the town, her gramma went missing, her gramma was killed by a pack of wolf hybrid things that were the queen’s special operatives, etc Cress is a damsel in distress saved by a guy from her satélite, the guy went blind because he hit his head as the satélite fell, Cress puts a special eye drop in his eyes that heals him eventually, when the satélite fell, the guy cut Cress’s hair because they were tangled up in it, etc. Winter’s step mom is jealous of Winter because she’s is more beautiful, even without glamour, Winter escapes because her mom wants her killed, Winter gets poisoned with a deadly futuristic disease by her mom with a candy apple, the guy saves her with the cure, etc.
This is by far my favorite thing that the author did to make this book so unique and fun and AMAZING!! I love the characters and the way their portrayed, I love the world building and the setting and the amount of thought she put into the WHERE and the WHEN, I love the plot, I love the fairy tail Easter eggs, I love the couples, I love the ending, I love the dialogue, I love her style of writing, I love the thoughts, I love the connections between each character, I love this series!
I highly recommend to anyone who likes romance, YA, adventure, futuristic, broken fairy tail, female protagonists, fantasy stuff cuz let me just say, this series has it all and does it PERFECTLY!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This series is AMAZING!!!!! Definitely some of the best books I’ve ever read. The characters are super likable, as are the friendships and relationships that develop among them over the course of the series. Each book has its own central storyline that incorporates new characters and plot elements while building on the events of the previous book (this is definitely the kind of series that needs to be read in order). The genre is a perfect balance of science fiction, action, adventure, and romance, with a decent amount of humor written into the narration. Each book is loosely based off of a classic fairytale, with just enough similarities to be familiar while also being original and suspenseful.
The combination of characters, plot, and setting are what really drive this story. Throughout the series, you meet a variety of characters from different backgrounds, who all have wildly different personalities, but come together to form a great team. The chapters are written from many different third-person perspectives, which keeps the action and suspense going. There are usually several different subplots going on at once, with some characters dealing with one problem while others are facing something else, and then everything comes together in the end. The world-building is excellent; the society in which everything takes place is different enough from our own to feel futuristic, but still similar enough to be relatable. All of the characters act realistically given their personalities and situations, and many experience a great deal of development.
Content advisory (all 4 books): No issues in regard to language (very mild), drug references (nonexistent) or sex (several sweet kisses and a few subtle innuendos but nothing more). However, there is a bit of violence/graphicness in the first three books and a LOT in the last one. There are some scenes sprinkled throughout the series that sensitive readers may find disturbing. Just be aware!
Overall, I LOVED all the books, was highly entertained throughout the entire series, and was always eager to find out what was going to happen next! When I reached the end of the last one, I was both happy and sad. Happy because it had been an extremely enjoyable series with a satisfying ending. Sad because it was over! I highly recommend these books to teenagers and young adults looking for an exciting story with the kind of characters you wish you could meet in real life.
Into fairytales? This is the one for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Lunar Chronicles consists of four books, and each book is the retelling of a fairytale. If you decide to read one book please bear in mind, you’ll have to read the other three too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Marissa Meyer is a genius. The four books are retellings of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White respectively, set in the future. There is only one antagonist in all the books; The Evil Queen of Luna. The way Marissa Meyer connected all the dots in the four books and brought all the characters together for this beautiful plot, is awe-inspiring. The writing is clean, and the way her words paint pictures in our head so easily, is comforting. The story has everything a fairytale should have; evil villains and their henchmen, charming princes, beloved princesses, sarcastic sidekicks, and the most important of all, happily-ever-after’s. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are no damsel-in-distress’s in this book. Sure, all of them have their weaknesses and moments where they falter, but they don’t let those moments pull them down. That’s what makes these books so good. These are fairytales, with strong female leads. The male leads are nothing less. All four of them, are super charming, super smart, super funny and super supportive (running out of super adjectives). But gone are the days when princesses need princes to save them. There are a hundred more reasons why you’ll love this series, but I’d rather you guys discover them yourselves and discuss them with me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ TL;DR: Four retellings of fairytales; Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Snow White, all interconnected. Captivating story line. Romantic. Inspiring. Funny. Strong women and men leads. The best fairytale retelling series I’ve read. Come fall in looove.
I loved this book series, (I was going to give this a 4.5 but decided no actually it deserves a 5 for being such an enjoyable cohesive series that makes you feel you are reading an actual STORY). I recommend you read it all in one go because each story is connected at the same time you may find you like other characters further on in the books!
Also this 5/5 is in consideration to the type of books this series is, and what in my humble opinion would consider the audience of any age really especially YA and NA readers.
Picture this dystopian future cyborg, royalty, fantasy, romance, twists and adventure! As always there are a few things that would have built up more depth within the storyline and relationships but the amazing writing passes that far from my mind. It really isn't boring, which i hate! There is always something going on and it does not follow the exact storyline of fairy tales which keeps you guessing and excited. I especially love some of the side characters too and the cute relationship! - Like are you kidding me! <3
The cons
There are a few things I want to add to this review once I go back through the books. Although it is not boring, some might not like the pacing but the world building picks up and is great! Furthermore the chemistry between the characters.
I really loved this series and even though the concept is not "new" to rehash fairytale's the way it was done is just magnifique and honestly probably one of the best retellings in space.
“The screw through Cinder’s ankle had rusted, the engraved cross marks worn to a mangled circle.”
Luckily, Cinder is a top notch mechanic, an absolute necessity when you are a hodgepodge cyborg. One day, Prince Kai comes to her stepfamily’s market stall, looking for a skilled technician to repair his droid. He needs answers the droid contains about a mysterious plague killing the population and endangering the emperor.
Cinder discovers critical information about the plague and her complete immunity to it, becoming Earth’s most-wanted fugitive in a matter of days. Joined by a renegade captain, a loyal granddaughter, a genetically modified soldier, an imprisoned computer whiz, and a powerless princess, Cinder sets off to find the long lost heir who will reclaim the Lunar throne, cure the plague, and save Earth from Levana, the usurper queen of Luna.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ MUST READ for lovers of sci-fi and fairytale retellings 🌶 mostly sweet with little spicy, stops at kissing
This is a really fun series! The plot is fast moving, full of political intrigue and sweet romances. I was impressed with the seamless weaving of four fairytales. Especially because they were also transformed to fit into a world of science fiction. I really like when authors recreate less told fairytales, so Scarlett and Cress were my particular favorite books in this series.
Judging from the fun of reading them, this series of books definitely deserves these five stars. This series has a big cast of main characters without confusing the reader due to them being gradually introduced, a few at a time, and all of them, protagonists and love interests alike are interesting and, what is especially important, very different characters. Obviously that means you don't relate to all of them alike but they are still very interesting and have some kind of relationship or other which makes us care about all of them, at least in connection to our personal favourites. The way the fairytales are incorporated, closely, more loosely or even subverted, is one of my favourite tropes very well-done. My only critique is that it is very heteronormative. With such a big cast you'd expect at least one person to not be hetero, but even the female representing android is into men and men only.
Holy moly, you guys! These books are spectacular! I liked them more than Harry Potter! I LIKED THEM MORE THAN HUNGER GAMES!!!! I'm convinced they're the very best books ever.
So, a little about the Lunar Chronicles: they're YA sci-fi loosely based on fairytales: Cinder = Cinderella, Scarlet = Little Red Riding Hood, Cress = Rapunzel, and Winter = Snow White. While reading Cinder, I liked describing the book as "Cinderella meets Big Hero Six for older audiences". The whole series follows Cinder, but she adds new allies in each book and we follow their stories as well.
Oh my stars, you guys, best books ever! Please read them right now! You'll laugh a lot, you'll weep heartily, you will be forever changed!
Five stars for how Meyer turned the classic princess stories into sci-fi exploits; the way she twisted the stories to fit her world were really clever. (Brownie points for figuring out a way to make Cinderella's actual name Cinder and not Ella.) Definitely worth reading once. That being said, the romance was a bit overdone, especially considering their circumstances (emotional relationships with a teen crush you just met should not be a priority during a war). I kind of wish that Wolf had been an older guy (like Red's long lost uncle) instead of a romantic interest. And Cress was way too young for her "prince."
This series was spectacular. My experience with these books was in the audio book format. The female reader did a fantastic job in this series, sorry I couldn't find her name quickly enough to be included. She created unique audibly distinctive voices for each character.
I enjoyed the characters M Meyer created and matures. The live story aspect of these characters is sweet without being saccharine. My only 'issue' with these books so far, as I include Winter and Fairest in my review, is just how dislikeable the queen is. Compliments to M. Meyer on this achievement but I seriously don't like how evil this character is, especially in her back story solo novel.
I have read all 4, as well as the short stories that accompany the series, and it is truly my favorite. I actually hope it never becomes a movie because I don't want someone else's vision (director or different screenwriter) to change anything about it. It was written with enough detail and description that I could imagine the scenes easily as opposed to THG, for example.
I don't like writing reviews that include recapping the story. I'm pretty much only here to say that it is a unique series worth reading and rereading!
The first time I read this was as it was coming out during my school years, loved it them, and love it even more now! It’s nearly impossible for me to view these books individually, except for each of their marked introductions of new characters. The world building for this story is one of my all time favorites. From global (and Lunar) politics to the day to day life of characters in several city across this futuristic globe! This world is painted out exquisitely! Don’t even get me started on both the interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships with all the characters in the gang! The situations and places we get to see these characters experience works to show us almost every angle of who they are! And they sure as hell turn out to be splendid characters, I can say I would thoroughly enjoy grabbing a beer with every single character within the core group! !
This series is one of my favourites, I love interpretations of fairy tales so this was right up my wheel house. The characters have a very fun and funny dynamic together, and the books have a good balance of serious and easy going scenes. All four female leads are strong, and very different from each other, which I appreciate because sometimes female characters in books are basically just copied and pasted.
Lunar Chronicles is one of my all-time favorites. SO good! World-building is on point, the characters are realistic and lovable, overall great read. I read it on a recommendation from a friend and didn't expect to like the 'fairytale with a twist' thing, but I quickly fell in love with the whole series. One notable thing about this series is that the middle books are exciting and just as good, which can be hard to find in lots of series. Highly recommend!
4.5/5 for Cinder, 4.7/5 for Scarlet, 4 for Cress, and 4.9 for Winter. I feel like the Cress and Winter but especially Winter weren't flushed out as much as the other two. Also, Cress was kind of an idiot which slightly annoyed me, but it's fine since she was isolated since birth. I'm not really a sci-fi reader, but the fairytale and royal elements really made this series for me. Also, ICO! My favorite character who is up there with Cinder.
I wanted to find an attention grabbing and exciting series for my preteen. Indeed I had to screen this series to ensure it was age appropriate and it is (I rate it PG)! I was juggling a few books, of my personal preference, so I had to quickly screen this series by way of audiobook. OMG 😱 I am a fan ALL THINGS NARRATED BY REBECCA SOLER!!! Man, she is such an energetic & invigorating narrator!! The author wrote this entire series beautifully as well but Rebecca gave it a life of it's own. Awesome series!!
