I will quickly summarize The Way He Looks at Me, which was the first book in this series. PLEASE read this book first because if not, nothing will make sense! The main girl is Annie. She is really just a normal girl that happened to fall in love. With lots of boys. All the boys are dreamy and it was made even better because they were all in bands! Who doesn't love that! When I jumped into Patton Pending I wasn't sure what to expect. There were so many guys to choose from but I knew the man that was for me, and for Annie of course (lets not forget her)! Everything about him was perfect. His love and devotion to Annie were the best.

Since the very beginning Patton Pending left me in utter shock. I was shocked. There is no other way to explain it. Annie choose her man right away without even thinking. I thought this was not going to happen until later, but no she just jumped right on him, literally. I really don't want to give anything away so I will not use names. This guy was great but I had my heart set on another different boy! So this is the reason I was shocked. Usually it takes forever for the girl to choose, but not Annie! She choose right then and there when the guy told her he liked her. Later on, it gets complicated. She is still dating two other boys. She lets go of one fairly easy but the other one, man the other boy, that one was not easy. It was a struggle of the mind and her heart!

Annie cannot seem to let the second guy go. And I completely understand because he was MY man! This guy was just perfection. He had patience and love and he wouldn't give up on Annie for anything. He is what a man should be like. He stood by her even when she didn't know what to do. He believed in their love so much that he was willing to wait for her other relationship to end. He knew she was the one and he was not letting her go. How sweet is that?! This book continues with this struggle. She thinks one boy would be better for her (thinking with her head) but the other boy was her soulmate but she didn't want to follow her heart!

Patton Pending was a sweet, young love that has you gripping your heart! It makes you want to shout at the main character to open her eyes and see what is right in front of her. The perfect guy was always there lurking in her mind, waiting, just waiting for Annie to finally SEE that he really was the one for her. This love is unique and full of mistakes. The character makes a lot of mistakes with the guy she is meant to be with, but soon enough love takes her in the write direction! Juliana Mae created two beautiful books that make you want to find true love!

There will be spoilers throughout this review.

There are few book series that I give every book 5/5 stars to, and this is one of them. I read the first book in the series, The Way He Looks at Me, around this time last year and I loved it so much, so I was very happy when Juliana Mae reached out to me about the sequel. I was not disappointed with this book.

Favorite parts about this book:
how realistic Annie is
The situation Annie is wouldn't be something that would typically happen, but Annie's emotions are so real that anyone can still relate to her. She's just a normal girl in a crazy situation.

how Annie wasn't always right
This ties into how realistic Annie is as a character. She wasn't always right about everything, but she was able to go back and change her mistakes. In YA it's very common for characters to just make the correct decision right off the bat, but that doesn't really happen in real life. This story shows that you will make wrong decisions, all that matters is how you correct them.

Aunt Vicky
Aunt Vicky as a whole was just an amazing character. In The Way He Looks at Me she wasn't a huge character, but in Patton Pending she became a strong supporting character. I loved how she was a big part in Hayden and Annie's relationship. I would love to read a spin-off book from her POV.

the title
I didn't realize this at first, but the title was beautifully crafted. I loved how Juliana Mae mixed Hayden's last name (Patton) into the title.

Hayden and Annie
I loved that Annie chose Hayden. He was my favorite of all the boys since the first book and their relationship is just so, so perfect. I would have been so upset if she let him slip away.

The only thing that I didn't really like was how Dathan handled not wanting Annie to have her heart broken. I just feel like it was really cruel for him to lead her on for that long. I understand how it was necessary for the plot, but I just thought Annie shouldn't have been that forgiving towards him.

All in all, I loved Patton Pending. I can't wait to read Juliana Mae's next book. I'm very excited for After Midnight and Deeper Water.

It is SO SO SO important that you read the first book in this series known as "The way he looks at me" if you do not read the first one then all of this will be pretty confusing and you will be missing out on some good back story. The first book leaves off with wondering what her decision is, but thankfully the first book immediately reveals who she decides upon. Although I don't completely agree with the choice she makes, you see her struggle with it the entire second book. She does not truly know where her heart lays. As with other books, true love will eventually prevail. Until then enjoy the loops and twists that love provides.

*I voluntarily reviewed this book*

Patton Pending is the sequel to The Way He Looks At Me.

The sequel picks up right where the first book left off. Annie is continuing to experience problems in her love life.

This time, Annie is stuck in a triangle with high-profile musician Hayden and Dathan, Annie’s best friend. To make matters worse, Annie’s ex-boyfriend shows up in California and immediately causes trouble for her.

As chaos continues to follow her, Annie finds herself in a difficult predicament as she tries to find out if Hayden or Dathan has her heart.

Overall, the story’s good. Much like the first book, Patton Pending tends to go by too quickly, plus there’s a lot going on that it’s hard to keep track. As for Annie, at times I felt for her plight with the guys, but at other times she came across as selfish with not wanting to make a decision.

Aside from that, I thought it was a good story.
