The type where someone—may not come out alive in the end. Secrets are revealed and nothing will ever be the same again. He'd do anything to keep Mary and her daughter safe from the danger after them. Allyson is a best-selling author who writes in the romantic suspense, romance, and suspense genres, sometimes a sweet and historical romance creeps up as well.
In her books, readers will find emotionally stirring storylines, as well as a compelling mixture of suspense mixed in. Even in her sweet romances, there's a burn and sizzle. She resides in Indiana with her family, When not spending time with her family, you can find her knitting, and watching perhaps a few way too many suspense, true crime, and reality television shows.
This offering by Allyson Carter is just as good as her first one, Hearts Undone. The story of Jace and Mary is fraught with tension, danger, and sweet romance. I tend to like second chance romances. Often the characters who experience second chances have a deeper understanding of an opportunity regained.
The book starts off with a message from her dead husband and the mystery simply goes on from there, building to a point where at times you had no idea how the story was going to turn out. Jace is a perfect hero, and not because he's perfect but because he's imperfect. Mary is strong and gentle and Faith is a doll.
This book is full of cloak and dagger as Jace Smith struggles to find who is trying to kill Mary Cox. He is thrust back into her life as a dying request from her deceased husband. There is non stop, roller coaster suspense as they race to find the the man trying to kill her. He is forced to face their past as he tries to save her. The characters were well developed and I loved the story line.. We see God's love and protection through out the book. I look forward to reading more by this author. An advance copy was given in exchange for my honest opinion.
I love strong females. With the loss of her husband, another door opens, and the opportunity for second chance romance. Just as Mary is getting involved with Jace, the high school sweetheart who once broke her heart, things twist once more. Someone is after not only Mary, but Jace as well.
The book is fast paced and the characters were great. Some things were repeated lots of times. For a Christian book, I felt that some scenes between Mary and Jase were too "steamy". I was given a copy of the book to read and to provide an honest review.
This was a rough one, although I did manage to finish reading it. The biggest “Buried Secret” is: where is the editor for this project?!? I’m guessing in study hall or detention along side the 7th grade-abled author. There were so many errors in grammar, tense, wrong words, structure, that I just quit counting and did my best to fill in the authors intent and get to the conclusion as swiftly as possible. So why 2 stars? The story itself actually had some potential, even if a total rewrite is desperately needed.
Mary received a DVD from her dead husband, a year later, telling her if he was dead, it wasn’t an accident. That she and baby Faith weren ‘t safe. She never would of thought it was from helping a friend, that a hit had been put on him, and one other. When Jace come saying he got a dvd, also, to watch over them. A good plot, what was behind the hit. For Jave and Mary, the memories they had shared as teens, and with family. She trusted him and his sister Shelby. Good plot, characters, and kept you to the end.
This is a very badly written book. I almost gave up on it. It is almost as though it is just the first draft. Where was the editor? There were so many editing and spelling errors that I found very difficult to get past. The story kept going from one person to another and even back story on the same page; where were the paragraphs? I only continued because I was interested in learning just who was after Mary. I also found it difficult to believe that this was supposed to be a clean, Christian read, the way Jace kept behaving. I did not really like him all that much.
This book had the makings of a good book, but I never knew if it was supposed to be a Christian book or R rated for violence. And it desperately needed some editing. It has so many typos and grammatical mistakes. It was interesting enough that I did read it all.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review ,,, here goes
Firstly let me say that please do not be put off of my rating of this book ,,, this is only MY opinion and remember that everyone has different tastes
The story itself had a potential it was intense and there were times where you were playing a bit of a guessing game as things were happening that would get your mind questioning and then there were other things that happened that you really didn't see coming.
So this story is mostly surrounding the main female character, she had a bad home life as a child, she had a first love but he'd broken her heart. He returned from the military but by this time shed moved forward with her life and married another. BUT her husband died, leaving her once again feeling pain that no one should have to experience. But he left her with a child, her baby girl that always brought her light to her dark days. Mary had friends by her side supporting her including Jace, her sweetheart that broke her heart all those years ago. The story starts with a dvd sent to Mary by her late husband ,,, then the excitement begins ,,,, someone is after Mary ,,,, they are after Mary and her daughter ,,,,,,, and Jace!!!
So much happens in this book ,,,so much ,,, in fact there is a little too much crammed into such a short space of time ,,, there is a lot to take in because of this I was struggling to keep up
This book is written in the third person, something that isn't my preference but in this books case it was hard to keep up with the pace ,,, there is a lot of flicking between the characters, and there are a few characters, I often found myself having to go over parts I'd already read to work out who the author was currently talking about ,,,this could be a fault that lies with me not the author but I just found this to be a difficult read
There are lot of typos in this book too, normally I don't mention this but there were a few
Like I said at the start it has a good story behind it and this is only my opinion
