Ballsy businesswoman Kay Hennessy wasn’t sure she’d ever set foot back in Chicago after her ex cheated on her and broke her heart. When she finally revives her courage, she returns to the city only to be courted by the man who once devastated her. Lily Cahill is back and they have cranked up the heat for those cold winter nights! First up in their new Alpha Bear Princes series is Prince Hudson and yes, he is hot, alpha and very, very rich and powerful. He also is tired of being someone’s meal ticket or man candy, but when Kay walked into the room, he knew he had scented his mate and he was going to let her know just how perfect he was for her in every way. Little did Hudson know, Kay was carrying a lot of heavy heartbreak baggage and had quite a pedigree herself. Then again, Kay had no idea Hudson got all big, growly and furry, either. Surprise number three, Kay was applying for an executive position at the corporation he owned.

Let’s just say the impromptu interview seemed to be a roaring success or was it? These two seem to have the he said/she said/he did/she did game down pat…if you are into mass miscommunication. Their combustible chemistry scorches both sheets and tempers, and not always their own. Follow along as both the clothes and the fur flies when one bigger announcement is let out of the bag!

It seems Lily Cahill is changing tracks and is taking readers on an even more adventurous ride of romance, in a world filled with bears, beauty, attitude and that Lily Cahill style of humor! Prince Hudson is a quick, fun read with great pacing, a cast of characters to both love and hate, and oh the dialogue, gotta love it!

I received this copy from Lily Cahill in exchange for my honest review and it was the perfect escape from reality for me!

Curvy girl meets billionaire bear shifter royalty!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙💜💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️😋😘🥰

The heroine: Kay - she is a curvy girl whose boyfriend Chase had cheated on her with many women and had taken the promotion to CEO of her fathers company that she had been working for, then had dumped her six months ago, telling her she just “doesn’t look like a CEO’s wife”. Now that she is back in Chicago, she still wants him and is hoping that he regrets breaking up with her. When he called her right after she landed, she agreed to see him and is out at a hotel bar, dressed to the nines, to meet him. Kay was successful in her own right, she had an MBA from Princeton and has nearly a dozen interviews scheduled in the next few weeks, she also had just produced a movie as a favor to a friend.

The Hero: Hudson - he is a bear shifter and one of four sons of the Queen. His mother sent all four sons away when they were young to keep them safe from a rival clan called the Zoltags that were determined to kill them. They were raised separately, and Hudson grew up with an aunt and uncle, never knowing he had three brothers or much at all about his parents, he thought they died in a car accident. Hudson has since become a billionaire CEO of his own company and is known as the most eligible bachelor in Chicago.

The story: When Hudson sees Kay across the bar, he immediately suspects that she is his mate. He thinks she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, and she is curvy in all the right places. He introduced himself and asked her to have a drink, and since her ex was late, Kay agreed. Chase never did show up and Hudson and Kay ended up going up to a suite and hooking up. Though Kay assumed she was just one in a long line of women for Hudson and left in the morning while he slept.

I liked the fact that there was a terrible ex-boyfriend wanting Kay back, and there were some other shifters after Hudson, and he was unaware of much of his back history. It made for a more exciting story. This was a pretty short read, at only 185 pages, but long enough to have a decent storyline and some steamy sex scenes. Overall, a good bear shifter story, though I kinda hate the whole curvy girl storyline, I just don’t like when a woman is not confident in her appearance. I am definitely that way, but don’t like to read about people like me. I like to read about the beautiful people.

2 1/2. Ok for free. A bit cheesy but entertaining for a quick read. The sex was hot.
All 4 books in the series are available on KU as a box set.
The h is rubenesque which I don't mind but it bugs me when the author makes a big deal about how all other men don't like her being BBW but the H does. Why can't she just BE plus-size?

This was honestly more interesting than I thought it would be when I started. You don't actually get much shifter activity in the book, but I liked the back story a lot.
It was insta-love but very sweet because the moment Hudson saw Kay, he only had eyes for her and told her how much she meant to him.
Kay definitely needed a confidence boost throughout the story, but she found her place a little towards the end.
Overall sweet book.

Cliche

Boy meet girl and after speaking for 1 hour they have sex and of course she has never done anything like that before. And of course, after knowing and sleeping with him after an hour she thought she could trust him. And of course after speaking for the second time they declare their love.

Certainly will not bother with anymore books in this series

Not star rating due to not finishing this book. It's unfair to do that. However, I am posting a review for my book insight.
The title and cover were both appealing to me. As was the blurb.
The downfall came to the writing itself. The premise and plot were interesting. It was the execution that was lacking. When you write a book it's important to hire a good editor regardless if you're a magician with words or not. In this book, in just the first 15%, too many sentences started with He or She. That's not including the multiple he and she's, her or him's used inside the sentences as well. For this very reason I could not carry on. It was too distracting.
Example:
She felt his hand reach under her skirt and her eyes whipped to meet his.
"That's right, baby. I want you to look at me when you come," he said, pressing his forehead against hers.
His hand slid between her thighs as his foot nudged her legs apart.
She gasped.
"I want you to remember this moment," he said, curling the other hand into her hair.

Using people's names or removing so many basic he's, she's etc... will help with the flow.
My example of how things should look to keep it from becoming a problem... (I'm not adding this to be mean... this is my observations.)

Feeling a hand reach beneath her skirt, Kay's eyes whipped to meet Hudson's.
"That's right, baby. I want you to look at me when you come," he said, pressing their foreheads together as his palm slid between her thighs, his foot nudging her legs apart.
Kay gasped.
"I want you to remember this moment," he added, curling the other hand into her hair.

I wish the author the best.
Congrats on publishing a book, that is a feat in itself.

Okay I was able to get through most of the book without saying screw it, but the insta-love...yeah that just through the book out the door for me....don't get me wrong I am okay with a little love notion at an early stage of a relationship, but the guy who is supposed to be all alpha is not so alpha to me....I feel like I jumped in the middle of the story when I started reading this book. If things were laid out better and the relationship between the two had built I think that it would have been a really good book but unfortunately it just didn't do anything for me.....

CW: some talk of abuse, and general taking-this-way-more-seriously-than-is-demanded

If you’re going to read this, know right off the bat that a) I didn’t finish the book and b) the part I did read was actually read to me by my bemused and increasingly frustrated boyfriend—bemused because “bear what, now?” and frustrated because of my angry interjections—from my couch while I worked. I went back to check remembrances before writing this, but it’s possible some of my impressions are misshapen.

Two factors prevented me from enjoying this book (which, by the by, I got for free on a daily-email-ebook-thing. “Bear shifters?! That’s going to be awesome!” I thought. How wrong I was). The first is a lack of stylistic consideration/editing. Sentence structures repeat within paragraphs. Adjectives repeat within paragraphs. The theoretically bombshell statement that the romantic lead can turn into a literal giant bear is thrown in almost as an aside and then quickly followed up with some hilarious and, I fear, apparently unintentional, double entendre (his bear is so much bigger than his uncle’s bear, just the hugest bear ever, etc. Immature, sure, but it was pretty funny). Obviously it’s not like this was ever going to come as a surprise to the reader, who downloaded a book because it did in fact promise hot bear shifter action. Still, there can be some buildup. Some tension. Some…something. And that’s sort of how things seemed to go. The language existed to relate facts rather than feelings or tone (sexy, sexy facts!), and it did that fairly poorly.

The larger and more pressing issue is that this book made me so incredibly sad––sad––that I stopped at a little over halfway through, and then googled the author. I found out that she was in fact a collective of women––multiple women okayed this––and got even sadder. I understand the need to sketch characters in broad strokes when writing a short piece of lighthearted erotic fiction, but this one went and saddled our heroine with some serious baggage and then exploited the heck out of it.

I’ve read other novels starring a chubby girl and a studly boy and they haven’t made me want to cry because the women in them have stood up for themselves when they needed to, and managed to be wounded characters undergoing a romantic shift while also not setting off every abuse-related alarm bell my brain has. Heck, it would be a hoot to read about this exact same scenario if the heroine had more of a backbone. His certainty, her confusion, the mutual attraction, the conflict therein…it could be good. As it stands, though, as of halfway through this book it is a story about a woman with baggage and a man unknowingly exploiting that baggage and it made me really sad for Kay and for the women who end up being so exploited and I stopped reading it.

God willing I will someday be able to read a slice of ridiculous bear shifter erotica and not end up writing a freaking manifesto, but today was not that day.

The idea is cute, but the fact that each story in the series is based after a different brother and it's stated they could be read in any order, I expected a more congruent and finished story. I felt that there were way too many plotholes, questions left unanswered, and information left unsaid for this to logically make sense as a couples completed love story but ESPECIALLY if it's stated that the books could very well be read out of order... and based off of the cliffhanger and questions left unanswered in this book, I can only assume that the other books follow similarly (I can only imagine the horror and confusion of it all if this was not the first book read, and similarly with the other books placements).

For all that alone I can't say this was an enjoyable read... just fine and nothing more.

Rated with the bonus chapter as the epilogue.

This is a good starter novella for an interesting shifter series. My only real complaint is that I wish it was longer. I wanted to see the MC together some more before the action started...and no I'm not talking about THAT kind of action ;)

I liked the story, but at times it felt rushed and a little to easy. I'm hoping the next story continues the battle with the bad guys and the main characters don't have that instant love, but actually have to work for it.

In the first novella of the Alpha Bear Princes series, a rival clan of bears have murdered the emperor of the bear shifter community, so the empress has no other choice but to send their four sons away to live in secret without any knowledge of who they truly are. The young princes can only return and claim their birthright once they have made a successful life for themselves, and they must have found their mate.
Thirty years later…
Kay Hennessey awaits Chase, her ex-boyfriend, at a hotel bar. Even though she’s an intelligent, career-driven woman, she believes she’s lacking in the beauty department, and her fragile self-esteem falls even lower when she realizes Chase stood her up. Then she sees Hudson Royce, a gorgeous and successful real estate CEO, across the bar. But a short, chunky woman like her couldn’t hope to attract a man like him. Or so she thinks.
At first sight, Hudson knows the woman is his mate. As a bear shifter, he can sense it, and he’s completely enamored with her. After a wonderful night together, a misunderstanding drives her away, but Hudson always get what he wants—and he won’t let Kay avoid him for long.
I really enjoyed this book. Both characters seem to be genuinely good people with flaws like everyone else. Kay’s confidence grows, and Hudson learns he can be loved for who he is, not what’s in his bank account.
The story flowed smoothly, but I wish it had been longer to better tie up some plot points (such as, Kay’s relationship with her parents). There were some typos, which were a little distracting, and I found it odd that Hudson referred to his adoptive parents as “stepparents.”
Anyway, it’s a great story, and I’d love to learn more about his brothers in the later books.

Kay's at a restaurant to meet with her ex when she sees HIM. When they make eye contact, she literally can't move.
Hudson sees her and knows right then, MATE. Perfection. As they talk, they both realize that she has an upcoming interview at his firm and he assures her that he won't influence it in any way. When he offers her a night of passion it's something she's never done before and she thinks, why not? She thinks it's a one time thing and soon finds out the difference between a caring and unselfish lover and sex. (her ex was the latter)
The next morning when she enters his bathroom , she's looking for soap when she finds, well, everything a bachelor needs for fun. After all the things he said to her last night? She leaves without a word.
Hudson wakes to an empty bed and news that one of his homes has been broken onto. He's upset but it's just about her. Did she think it was just sex? When he remembers she has an interview coming up, he's determined to earn her trust and her love.
There are secrets that neither one of them are aware of and they're all about to come to light! Kidnapping, intrigue and family secrets are a big part of this shifter tale

Dissatisfied and disappointed.
This felt rushed right from the start.
This book gets right into it from the start which to me made it feel like I’d missed a few chapters.
The main characters did seem to have instant chemistry, though some character development was rather lacking, I feel.
It ended much too abruptly, as well leaving too many loose ends, I’m not a fan of cliffhanger endings so wasn’t impressed.
I haven't read the next book and not sure I will as that will possibly end in another cliffhanger for all I know it could be 6, 10 or more books to get an ending, hence why I don’t buy cliffhanger reads and this definitely did not say ends in cliffhanger!!
I also don’t like reads that want you to click links to get bonus chapters, why not include it all in the book???
Isn’t that what we pay for? It’s a pet hate as I expect a full book when purchasing. Maybe that’s silly of me but if I buy a pair of socks I expect 2 individual socks not one and click a link for the other.lol
( sorry that’s just my sarcasm hehe )
Very quick read and actually enjoyable but just a shame it didn’t end without lots of unknowns.
Would have been 4 stars if it was complete.

I picked this book up through Bookbub on a freebie Amazon deal.

I had a little time between ARC's and Books I'm editing to read for fun, and really have been stuck in a paranormal shifter genre. This book grabbed my attention in the Prologue!
I love this idea that there are four Bear Shifter Princes who have no clue they are princes, and can't find out the truth until they find their true mate.
This book is Hudson who meets his mate at a hotel bar. She's there looking hot s hell to piss off her ex, but grabs the attention of Hudson. She's been verbally beat down so much that she can't believe this hot man wants a night with her!
This book is fast paced, with steamy chemistry between our shifter and his mate. I loved every second of this read. It was so well written that before I knew it the book was done and I was wanting the next one in the series! I hope Hudson and his mate make an appearance in the other books .

Secrets

Kay Hennessey was supposed to meet her ex at a bar but he was late. Looking around she notices Hudson Royce, the young billionaire, she has an interview scheduled at his company. Several other women keep parading past his table trying to catch his attention but he's on his phone. Now there's a prime example of a "real" man, not like her ex.
Hudson finally looks up from his phone n looks around the bar spotting the most georgous woman he ever saw. His bear is going nuts inside him as he makes his way towards her table.
He doesn't know how to tell her about himself without freaking her out but it's really okay because he doesn't know about his true heritage. His adoptive parents, also shifters, live by a strong moral code . Belief in the sanctity of life, a bond of secrecy, the sacredness of love, n the duty of perpetuation.
His life will drastically change as an enemy from the past raises its ugly head to kill him n his brothers.

That's with a cute book I enjoyed it. Hudson was sitting in a bar when she walked in the first time and he couldn't take his eyes off of her.. as soon as their Eyes Meet he knew she was his make. Kay had come to the bar to meet her ex because he said that he was going to apologize to her. She never met the XT never really showed up but Hudson did.. he invited her for a drink upstairs to the room that he get there to try to make her understand that she with his. The only trouble was with the room that he used to bring other women to and she found all of his toys and everything else and ran. We had to get a hold of her to tell her that it was all a misunderstanding. The book with you this is the first in the series and at the end if you go to her website you get a second book that gives you a little bit more on this book it's not much just a few pages.

This is the story of Hudson, a bear shifter, and Kay, a human woman. When they meet, Hudson realises that Kay is his mate, but she knows nothing about shifters.

Kay is a bit of a stereotype of the curvy woman who lacks confidence because her ex treated her badly. Hudson seems more like a teddy bear than a bear shifter, and I would have liked to see more alpha tendencies in him.

It was a short read, but reasonably entertaining. For me, the characters were a little flat and the story was a bit too rushed. Also, there was no real ending and it read more like an outline than a full story. It was an okay read, but not great.

I have never been a fan of insta love and instant pregnancies and being okay with it after knowing each other for 2 weeks. the entire series is like that. the base story was kinda nice, but its basically meet girl, automatically mated, have sex, she also feels something, then after two days I love you's are being exchanged and then he has to save her from danger and good to go, they are now committed/ married and pregnant. three of the books end with pregnancies. after knowing eaching other for 2 weeks!! the hell.
why are these people having sex without protection with people they just met at the bar? what nonsense is this?

Excellent shifter romance

Lili Cahill has written the first of the Alpha Bear Princes books. If you are a fan of shifter books, this one will entertain you well. Prince Hudson was raised by his Aunt and Uncle (step) and knows he is a shifter. He believes his parents were killed when he was young, but does not remember them. He meets a successful woman that is still recovering from a breakup with the wrong guy and falls for her. Together they face kidnapping, break-ins, and adventure. Enjoy this great read.

This was a good read. I enjoyed the characters and the banter. Great imagination and creativity, good characters, interesting plot, strength, courage, a little suspense, a little craziness and a good HEA. I enjoyed reading this and getting to know the characters. There were some tense and fun moments and the book kept rolling. I would really like to read more in this series and get to know the others. I'd also like to see how they come together. Good for passing time or cuddling in for the night. Enjoy

Hudson is a bear shifter who has made a life for himself, even though he’s never known his parents, but when his eyes connect with Kay it’s like he’s finally home. Will Kay realise that Hudsons affections are real, and accept him for what he is?
Will Hudson be able to keep her safe when his own life is threatened?
Good story and plot, I literally read this in one sitting and went straight into the second in the series. Nice characters. Love scenes are steamy, sone angst and a good back story for this series. Overall I enjoyed it.

Prince Hudson is part of a tetralogy; but can be read as a stand alone. This short story also contains a deeper socio-political note.

Kay struggles with body shaming and discrimination based on gender stereotypes.
And Hudson himself... - "The most eligible bachelor of Chicago" suddenly finds his mate here and also learns some previously unknown family secrets. He is dominant, knows what he wants and acts accordingly towards Kay.

I would say: Dominant alpha male lovers can't go wrong with this book.

Steamy, steamy, steamy!

I loved this book! It was well written. I did find a few graphic errors, but The Author makes you feel it’s you therein the arms of Hudson & feeling every inch of him. He’s a God by description & a shifter added to the mix. Who could ask for more? He’s also a billionaire & a very successful businessman. But wait, then you learn he’s a shifter-and a BEAR at that! Perfect is an understatement!

Gets off to a slow start

Hudson is rather creepy in the beginning. I cringed at the constant repetition of the “Baby” endearment. Without the explanation of his bear’s recognition of Kay as mate, Hudson’s intensity come off as odd rather than appealing. I found the suggestion that a woman as smart and accomplished as Kay would be taken with a controlling, bossy man disappointing. Apparently the soul deep appeal of a shifter mate turns off a woman’s brain.

A prince of a bear

This is a delightful and sexy shifter romance. We have a rich bear shifter meet a beautiful woman who just happens to be his mate. In an unexpected twist the bear shifter is a prince and someone does not want him to be able to take over the throne. In the end Hudson and Kay are safe together, married and pregnant. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
