this was an ok book. It was definately intsant love and attraction. It had a decent plot. I just felt there was something missing for me and I am not sure what.

The sex was hot, but the main characters felt flat to me. They just didn't have that spark of I can't wait to have them together.

It wasn't great yet it wasn't bad.

Well. He wasn't really a bad boy.

I haven't read a lot about Gypsies nor have I read a lot of books where one of the main characters was a Gypsy. So, it was interesting in that aspect.

Nice plot. I enjoyed the book; totally started blind though and thought it really was a "bad boy romance" but really just read like a sort-of modern day contemp romance ... Just with a rare Gypsy dude who's NOT really a bad boy instead.

Typing on my iPhone so ignore the mistakes, lol.

Everything jut happened to fast. It was all "love" before I was able to connect. The story lost me. I ended up skimming. This did not work for me, but you may love it.

It could have been so good, but in my opinion, the execution was weak.

I wish the author would have written the story in one POV. The switch became too much and it was very distracting.

I am not sure why it was called "A Bad Boy Romance" when the hero was not a bad boy at all.

This is a good mystery/suspense/romance story that will draw you in from the first page and keep you there until the very end.

Kennick and his family have come to town to avenge what was done to his family member years before and to clear his name. They are Romni and they take the slight to his name and their family very seriously so they are here now, ready to clear their family’s honor and name.
Kim is the mayor’s right hand girl , also known as the mayor's PA who does a lot of the work. The mayor is pretty much a drunk so she works a lot. She meets Kennick and his family when she has stayed late to do work for the mayor. They have come to see about where they can get paperwork to get a business opened up. Everything in her melts when she sees Kennick and she just wants to submit to him. She ends up running into them later on in the bar in town where the mayor and his cronies are horrible to Kennick and his family. Kim has to calm the mayor down . Then she goes to see Kennick later on Sunday to apologize for the mayor’s actions at their place they are staying at, which is Caravan Park that has been cleaned up. She extends her apologies and the chemistry between Kim and Kennick is so electric.
There is a lot going in on this story- someone is trying to run Kennick and his family out of town thru foul means and Kim is in the middle with the mayor and he is acting off/odd as well. Both MC feel this intense attraction that defies the odds and keeps them coming back to each other. The twists and turns keeps coming up until the very end. Love the story and cant wait for book two in this series for it looks like there is a villain from within the clan.

A sexy, romantic mystery/thriller involving an old unsolved murder, a corrupt little town and a family of travelers...gypsies! Kennick is the leader of this group and he returns to "the scene of the crime" so to speak, to clear up his late father's name and reputation after the fact, since he was accused of murdering a teenage girl years before.
It was an on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller, with a whole lot of steamy romance in the form of these gypsy brothers and especially Kennick, as he falls for the town Mayor's assistant and ruffles the feathers of more than a few law enforcement officials, as he searches for the truth.
A really good and fast moving story and it's on sale right now for only 99 cents.

**** 4 **** "a travelling man with staying power" stars

I hate "bad boy romances" and all their friends. I try to stay away from books with these words in the title but I give it a chance every few books. Who thinks this shit up? Oh wait, people like Meg Jackson.

SO...Kimberly is so stupid and weak that she needs a "bad boy" to tell her to run for mayor to save the town from an inept, drunk bigot? She's the kind of woman character who didn't have a life, barely existed, before the male character comes along. What's worse, Kimberly is your run of mill, plain, privileged white girl, who is obsessed with Kennick because he's "exotic". And because she views him as an "exotic" sexual object that doesn't belong in her world.

Gypsies are American now, according to Kennick. So... American gypsy man = American white girl's fetish/commodity.

Gypsy or not, I don't believe people who come off as super carefree. Because real people, underneath those carefree attitudes, are either brainless, careless, or actually not as "Don't worry, be happy" as they want you to believe. This is to say Kennick got annoying after a while. He just seems rude and thoughtless. Shooting ranges, smoking and growing weed, drinking, tattoos, bars--total cliches and fodder for white bread. White woman's fantasies are so predictable and utterly tiring I'm not even sure I can finish reading this book so I went ahead and wrote this.

This is a supposed romance with a small-minded bigoted white heroine who is totally objectifying a Romani man in a small white town full of/run by white bigots. SMH. Somehow I don't find that romantic at all.

The story-line for "Kennick" was well written, it was very visual and captured my mind and heart. Meg did a fantastic job on her plot; I thought I knew what it was but I didn't and around I went again. I loved the way the story-line grew and the plot thickened as I read on. This is my first book by Meg Jackson, I was very impressed and I won't be my last.
Hot August night 1981; Pieter and Rhonda were in love. Pieter had bought a ring and wanted to marry Rhonda but before he had a chance to ask her she told him she was pregnant. Pieter was so excited that he ran back to the truck to get the ring to propose. While he was gone someone snuck up on Rhonda and shot her in the head.
30 years later - Kennick, son of Pieter was now the "Rom Baro" the leader of the Kupania Gypsies. He had made a promise to his father to return to Kingdom and clear his name for the death of his beloved Rhonda. Even though Pieter was cleared for the murder for lack of evidence.
Kim was just leaving work when 3 men she had never seen before came up to her with a handful of papers. Kim told them that the office was closed. The tall one in the middle his eyes were twinkling, he was hot and so good looking that Kim asked him what they needed. Kennick stepped up the stairs and handed her the stack of papers and told her that they would like to open 7 new businesses. Kim was shocked and delighted their little town of Kingdom was on the brink of going under.
During the short conversation she found out that they were a band of Gypsies. Kim had remembered of hearing that about 30 years a go there was a band of Gypsies lived in the town of Kingdom. Kim took the papers and the men left. Later that night Kim had a meeting with the Mayor and some others. She was excited to tell "the boys" what she knew. The boys were already at Sammy's and about drunk. Kim started to tell them but before she could speak they were already talking about the no good murdering gypsies being in town. They continued to rant a rave about them and when they stopped for a breath Kim jumped in and said that they came and turned in all of the applications and documents to open 7 new businesses in town and how much that would help the town with its financial problems.
Not too long later the 3 men came into Sammy's by the side door and sat at the bar. They were celebrating with shot's and beers, laughing and having a good time talking with the bartender. When the Mayor found out who had come into the bar his already seething anger went rabid and he headed towards the men. He was threatening them left and right and told them to get out of town. Two of the Mayors buddies came and pulled him back to the table. As Kennick was about to leave he looked at Kim a tipped his shot glass towards her and while the men weren't watching she lifted her beer bottle and gave the slightest tip back to him.
Ricky, Kim's little sister called her early the next morning and wanted to know all of the scoop about the Gypsies. But Kim didn't know much and what she did she told Ricky. But Ricky being a journalist for the local paper had given her quite a bit of information about the Gypsies from 30 yrs ago. At the time, however neither of them knew the two were connected.
Kennick called and invited Kim over for dinner. After dinner, came dessert of the ultimately passionate kind. Kim could not explain her immediate attraction to Kennick when they met at the court house that first night. As the weeks passed Kennick and Kim spent every minute together except when working.
One afternoon Kim was having lunch with her mother, Cordelia, at the only small local diner. It was never a good thing when they were together. As Kennick was passing by he saw Kim's car and stopped. He went in and saw her with another lady and recognized her as most likely Kim's mom. Kennick sat down and gave her a kiss on the head. Oh, this opened up a can of worms with her mom. It was interrogation time and Cordelia wasn't happy at all, so she left.
During lunch Kim noticed that Jessica was acting strangely. Not her normally happy go lucky attitude. As Kim was leaving she stopped to ask Jessica if everything was okay and if there was anything she could do. Jessica became angry and told her to mind her own business. Kim left but first told her to call if she needed anything.
Jessica just kept thinking about the man who was following her and the car which kept parking at the end of the block and the shadows that showed on the wall in her room. Jessica was scared but wouldn't tell anyone.
The next day Little Pieter's dog ran off into the woods. Cristov, Kennik's baby brother, went to find the hound. Cristov followed the water and suds until he heard the hound whining. As Cristov reached the hound he saw red, shiny red, shiny red nails on fingers, with a hand and an arm and oh God a girl, a girl he knew. Cristov turned, threw up and took off running home.
Pick up a copy soon. The plot gets even thicker and I have left so much out. You won't be dissappointed.
I was given a copy for an honest review.

This was a great book to get me out of my slump I swear. It was quick and easy to read. Plus it was incredibly sexy. I loved how I was able to just enjoy it and not think too much which is exactly what I needed. The writing of the book is easy enough and simple. The dialogue was funny, witty, and sexy. When the moments got tense or sad I really felt it. I loved these characters and really felt their emotions. Kennick was sexy and super caring. He was truly amazing as a leader. Kim was another amazing person. I loved how outspoken she was. She was also caring and truly loved her town.

Plot:
This story follows the first of the Volanis Brothers & sister, Kennick, and his love interest Kim. Kennick is the Rom Baro or leader of the Romani clan. 30 years prior, Pieter, the Volanis siblings father, was accused of murdering the love of his life in a small town. The people of the town ran him and his people out. Now, Kennick and the Romani people are going back to clear his name. Here Kennick meets Kim, the mayor's assistant. Kim is a small town girl who loves her town and wants to save it from its impending poverty. Kennick is also dealing with a traitor among the clan who think he deserves Kennick's position. Kim and Kennick help each other and grow closer to each other.

Romance:
It was sexy and so fun. I loved them as a couple and how much they cared for one another. I also loved how they cared for each other's things but still stayed true to their own selves and people. Their sensual scenes were incredibly sexy and Kennick was swoon-worthy.

I received this book for free to give my True and Honest Review

This is the first time I've read books and on my god this is amazing it had such emotion where you feel the heartbreak from the story of The Volanis Men Kennick and his Brothers, Cristov, Damon & and Sister Mina's father's first true and really only True Love of her murder, which he was accused of.
The Romni's left the small town after Pieter was found not guilty for 30's years after the death of their so the whole settlers agreed to go back to clear his name and find out who her real killer was.
We meet Kim (Kimmy) the mayor's PA who does most of his work as he's usually drunk, who on her way out for leaving for the day meet these 3 I'll say hunky men, who come in to give overt paper work to open up some new businesses in this downtrodden town, but oh everything melts inside her when her eyes connects with kennick's.
She see's them in the bar afterwards when the mayor and the older men are out on their usual Friday night but this being Kim's after 5 yrs of working for Mayor.
Any way whilst the men are at the bar the mayor goes up to them telling them their not wanted and to get out of his town. Which the others and Kim calms him down.
On the Sunday Kim decides to go to the newly improved caravan park, where she feels like she had to apologise to Kennick for mayor's behaviour and of god you can feel the attraction between Kim and Kennick through the words. Whilst she's there she hears and see the evidence that he didn't murder her as he brought the caravan and put in a marriage license but couldn't proceed her part until he asked her, but there was 1 piece of police official paperwork missing.
We see over the course of the coming weeks the intense the relationship between both of them become and 1 Sunday when Kim's out for a much apprehensive lunch with her opinionated mother, which Kennick sheer seeing her decides to sit and join them and Gawd this is so comical even though stomach wrenching with the way her mother speaks to/at her. Though she notices that the waitress, wasn't at her usual chirpy self which she tries to see if she could help her. She keeps it to her self which heartbreaking becomes the death of her, the person who killed in the first place and wants to put this onto 'The Gypsies' as he WANTS them out of town.
We see Kim Supporting not JUST Kennick and the but the whole of the clan. But after a van with the family STILL in it, they decide they're more than likely will have to leave and this is where we see Kim's own life is in the balance when she goes to work after driving around for hours to try and get kennick out of her Heart after he tells her they'll have to leave and she won't go with them, where it brings tears again to your eyes.
And this is where I'll leave it for you to read this great book to find it how Kim's life is in danger, who the murderer is and will Kennick stay with Kim...... ??

Where should I start?

How about that cover? Mhmmm, admire that gorgeous cover that just catches your attention, no matter how bored you are. Then the blurb! I mean really, a hot gypsy? Sign me up!

And then there's the story. And the characters. How the prologue pulls you in, making you more and more curious, so you just keep on reading and you realize it's 3 AM and you should sort of sleep a little. You know it's a good one when you can't wait to fall asleep, so you can wake up already and continue the story! And nothing makes you happier than knowing it's the weekend and that means time off, and you can finish the book!

Finish it, I have.

A little bit about the story. The heroine's curvy and she lacks confidence, she has problems with self-image. We've all been there. Her beliefs that she's lacking is due to a mother that needs to be bitch-slapped because, woman, you can't treat your daughter that way, no matter how stuck-up you are. And oh, she's so stuck-up! Hated her.

The hero's a tall, dark and hot gypsy, with tattoos and long hair and a devil-may-care attitude. He's the baro of his gypsy family and clan; the ruler, the Big Kahuna, ever since his father passed away. Something happened a few decades back, in a small town and it needed to be cleared up. In said small town, lived our heroine, Kim. Kim meets Kennick, our sexy gypsy and oh, I love that there's no drama, there's hot and heavy sex, there's a connection between them. They're so cute and perfect!

The mystery revolves around that thing that happened a few decades back, and there's a culprit that needs to be caught. Again, not much drama, it wasn't dragged out unnecessarily. Kudos, Ms. Jackson, for that! I hate when something is dragged out, just for the sake of it. Nope, it's all solved, rather quickly. I also loved how the author touched on the subject of gypsies, both in old and modern society. Unfortunately, gypsies don't have the best of reputations. I know that, I see it around me, because there are a lot of gypsies living in my country. Some bad, some good, but that's something that applies to every ethnicity. One rotten apple doesn't mean they're all the same, and the author portrayed that without sugar-coating it.

I'm kind of left with some questions, though and the ending was a tiny cliffhanger - don't worry, the HEA is there, but this is an insight of what's to come. And I can't wait for that book to be written!

One thing that, well, I can't say bothered me but there's a preview at the end of the story, one from the author's other books. I'm not against authors putting previews and teasers at the end of a book, but this was a rather long one, so don't be disappointed when you see the story ends at around 75%. It's still pretty long.

But, needless to say, I loved it, I shall be rereading it and there will hopefully be a paperback version of it, because I'll gladly buy it. 4.5 - 5 stars.

Kennick grew up with a father, he was the leader of their clan, but a horrible thing happened years ago, and he was chased out of town, so with his dying wish he wanted his son who took over for him to go back and clear his name, so his whole clan packed up and moved. Kim loves her town, but it is broke and not getting any better. One night these guys show up and have tons of business licenses to open new stores, she is all for it in the name of saving her town, but others in her town are Leary of the the gypsies who have returned.
What I enjoyed most about Kennick the Volanis brothers book 1 is when Kim and Kennick meet that first time when the licenses are dropped off at her office, and she is instantly attracted to him, then they happen to see each other again that night, and from there they meet up to talk about helping Kennick to solve and clear his dads name, from there their romance builds, and they feel like they were made for each other, fitting together in every way. Through out the whole story you have no clue who did these bad things to two woman, and in the end I was so shocked.
This book is great, a very fast read, I couldnt put it down. This book had me from the first page. If you enjoy books, of gypsies and those that dont belong but will do anything for their family and trying to solve a 30 year mystery, who are loving and caring. a love story, and great intimate moments between Kinnick and Kim.. with some scary things added to the mix, if you enjoy books like this, then Kennick: The Volanis Brothers book 1 is a must!!

I received this for an honest review from author through Hidden Gems.

I think this is the first book I have read concerning gypsies. It was pretty interesting. I thought how the story started with Pieter finding out that his love Rhonda was with child and then for her to be brutal murder was heart breaking.

Kimmy worked for Mayor Gunderson. She was his assistant. She had her hands full. The Mayor loved to drink. All in all he was not a good Mayor. The more I read about him the more I did not like him. Kimmy on the other hand I loved. She was open minded and found the gypsies very interesting.

I loved the fact that the Volans boys were out to prove their father’s innocents. Kennick was the leader of the gypsies. There was something about Kimmy that called to him. His grandmother had predicted that he would find a love and the more he got to know Kimmy the more he felt like she was the one.

There is a lot of surprises in this book. I think reading this book I went through every town person on killing Rhonda. I was truly surprised who the actual killer was. I loved the tension that built up between Kennick and Kimmy. This was a great book and I can not wait to read other books this series. I think it is going to be interesting to see what upcoming books have for Cristov and Damon.

Kim is the Assistant to the Mayor in the small rundown town of Kingdom, Delaware, which is in desperate need of some new life. Kennick is the leader of a group of gypsies that have come back to Kingdom after being run out of town 30 years earlier. They've returned to clear the name of one of their own...Kennick's father. Some of the older residents, including Kim's boss and his friends, are angry the gypsies are back and want them gone. They remember the crime from 30 years earlier.

From the moment Kim and Kennick meet, they have a connection, but they come from such different worlds. Can they make something work, especially while Kennick is trying to clear his father's name? What happens with the gypsies move on?

This is a great book. The romance is sweet and sexy. The investigation keeps you guessing about who was responsible 30 years earlier. The interaction between Kennick and his brothers made me laugh.

While this book is not a cliffhanger, it leaves you impatient and waiting for the next book in the series!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for and honest and unbiased review.

l was drawn to this book purely because it stood out as something different, I've read loads of MC club books and stories about alpha millionaires but never Roma Gypsies and that intrigued me enough to want to read it.

This book is quite a short book so everything happen at a really fast pace and is easy to read, it has all the ingredients you expext of a romance novel, instant attraction, hot guy and girl, and a little bit of drama. The charactors were likeable and the story running along side the love story itself was also enjoyable, if not a little predictable. I found all the gipsey terminologies and laws fascinating, it made a nice change to read something a little different and the is a major selling point for me. This book does have a little cliffhanger and I'll be interested to know what happens next with that.

For the most part I liked this book and if you're looking for something different from the normal romance books then this might be the book for you.

I love gypsies. I've always been fascinated with them. So, needless to say, this book had my attention from the beginning. I like the take on modern day gypsies and the real struggles different cultures face with mainstream societies. This book does a great job balancing that with a love/suspense story. Kinnick and Kim's (really with the 2 K names?) relationship is passionate from the start. I like that Kim seems to be confident and put together, but still needs the support and affection Kinnick offers. The sex is hot and the love is real, you see that when Kinnick can still smell her everywhere. With most romances, you want to scream at the characters at some point to stop being stupid, but that's part of the fun of reading and getting emotionally invested in the characters. I wasn't halfway through with this book before I bought the other 2 in the series. I think I'm going to enjoy reading about the other 2 gypsy men we meet in this book.

Being a gypsy is a kinda rough life especially if your the Rom Baro- the man in charge. Coming back to the town of his fathers past to right a wrong might be easier than he thinks, when he meets her....Kimmy.
Kimmy is the Mayor Gunderson's right hand secretary girl. Always on the job ready to get what needs to be done. As long as she supposedly doesn't step on people toes like Pastor Hendrix. Who believes she should be at home married, cooking and cleaning. So when Kennick comes in with papers and a answer he wants to find, she jumps at the chance to help. the quiet little town. Will they find out what happened all those years ago? Or will someone make them another statistic in another crime gone cold?

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. This was the first book I've read from this author. This was also my second book about gypsies. She had a good balance of characters, intrigue and there were some nice steamy moments between Kennick and Kim. Kennick is the leader of the gypsy clan and they have come to Kingdom, Delaware to clear Pieter Volanis' name because he was accused of murdering a woman 30 years prior and run out of town. I can't wait to find out what comes next for the other Volanis brothers. My only complaint is that it moved a bit slower than I would have liked

Great start to the new Volans Brothers Series!! Kennick and Kim’s story. I enjoyed the murder mystery in the love story, a few twists and turns made the book a compelling read. The gypsy culture will be interesting to learn more about as the series unfolds. The secondary story is intriguing as well. Looking forward to the siblings story. Nice start Meg.

Great book, I would gladly recommend it to others. Will be looking forward to other books in this series, and by this author.

You are now the leader of the Gypsies and you must clear your father's name , on a murder that happen 30 yrs ago. This was a very interesting, suspenseful, deep book. Kim is wonderful heroine, and Kennick ....* deep breath* is great. Sexy, sweet, bad boy. I loved how this was a story 30yrs in the making. How a small town can hide your secret or let them all out. Very well written and wonderful developed characters.

Intriguing

This is very unique that we don't see a lot of gypsy stories. I also liked the fact it wasn't paranormal just history. Kennick lost his father and his grandmother in the span of a year. He is going to Kingdom because of his father's last wish. There he meets Kim who is ambitious and intriguing. The chemistry is off the charts and I just loved the relationship. Overall I love the story and can't wait to see what happens next

Sexy Gypsy Brothers

I really enjoyed this book maybe because I'm so intrigued by the Gypsy culture. Oh yeah and maybe because the book centers around three sexy Gypsy brothers......yeah, that could be it too......
Four stars for a unique and interesting storyline, cultural accuracy, sexy brothers, sexy scenes, suspense and character development.

I enjoyed the characters in this book. And bringing the gypsy culture into the story was fun. The story lines were good and kept me reading. The graphic sex scenes were too much and too many for me, but I easily skipped over those. I liked the HEA ending though loose threads were left to lead into the next book.

Great book. A first for me in the gypsy bad boy books but I really enjoyed it. Small town politics and set in their ways. I loved the suspense too. I Will be reading about the other 2 brothers for sure.

Book finished at 75% on Kindle. Ends with a cliffhanger. Not much of a bad boy book or really much of a gypsy book. It does have a mystery to solve along with some steamy bedroom scenes. Hopefully we will get a book two to finish the story!
