The Henderson Sisters #3

The Brazilian's Forgotten Lover

Rate this book
A secret child. A romance in tatters. And a thousand reasons Cristiano and Ava can never be together.

After the death of her mother and the heartbreak of leaving Cristiano, Ava Henderson finally has her life on track. She's running the family vineyards and raising her beautiful daughter single-handedly. But a chance reunion with the love of her life makes her doubt everything she's worked to build.

Cristiano had been right to leave when Ava asked him to. What choice did he have? She had always wanted a completely different life to what he could offer. And that life was more important to her than anything else. But three years later, he's back in the sleepy wine-growing district of Western Australia, and the same electrifying connection sparks between them as though no time has passed.

Just as he's starting to wonder if maybe lightning does strike twice, he discovers something about Ava that will change his feelings forever. How can he forgive a woman who lied to him? Who kept his own child away from him? And how can he move forward, sharing a child with a woman he's now starting to despise ...

For all things Clare Connelly, please see www.clareconnelly.co.uk, the official home of Clare Connelly on the web.

Clare Connelly grew up in a small country town in Australia. Surrounded by rainforests, and rickety old timber houses, magic was thick in the air, and stories and storytelling were a huge part of her childhood.

From early on in life, Clare realised her favourite books were romance stories, and read voraciously. Anything from Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, to Mills & Boon and (more recently) 50 Shades, Clare is a romance devotee. She first turned her hand to penning a novel at fifteen (if memory serves, it was something about a glamorous fashion model who fell foul of a high-end designer. Sparks flew, clothes flew faster, and love was born.)

Clare has a small family and a bungalow near the sea. When she isn't chasing after energetic little toddlers, or wiping fingerprints off furniture, she's writing, thinking about writing, or wishing she were writing.

This was my least favorite of the series. I skimmed over a lot of this book because I didn't like the fact that the h kept her child a secret from the H. She tried to tell him but gave up pretty quickly and convinced herself and was keeping her a secret for his own good. She was only 21 at the time, but that's old enough to know better and she was stupid and in denial. The H loved her but never fought for their love. He knew she was young, inexperienced, and still grieving of her mother who'd recently died. He left when she told him to go because he was proud and had never been denied anything.

There is tons of angst, anger, lust. They fall into bed too soon after meeting again (only a few hours). They forgive and move on too quickly after making all sorts of hateful statements. I couldn't keep up. Just lots of bad and stupid decisions all around.

The epilogue was sweet and had a nice surprise twist.

The H got on my nerves!! She seem like she was the weak link of the sisters.. no backbone at all! The saving grace for the book was the linking of this book to the Casacelli trilogy.

I thought Ava was the strongest one out of the triplets? She gave birth to a premature Milly at 21 and Cris 28. He was a wanderlust and she broke up things with him and marries Edward her bestfriend. She did tried to tell him about her pregnancy when she went to Rio but he didn’t want to see her no more. So 3 years later, he came back to the vine for his friend’s wedding. They slept together and he found out he has a daughter. He was in shocked and started blaming Ava for keeping the secret. Meek Ava accepted all his accusations afraid he will take Milly from her life. He said he hated her. His heart soften wactching the album of Milly. Ava broke her ankle doing the xmas tree decorations. She told him about her hysterectomy and he was willing to be with her despite her condition. All her sisters came back with their husband and Ava finally accepted to marry Cris with her sisters around. An Elizabeth told them about their father who was pussy enought not to fight for their mom because of scandal and his 3 sons.

Not impressed

I have now read all three books following the Henderson sisters, sorry to say but I thought all of them were silly far fetched nonsense. Poorly written and in some places inaccurate with names mixed up. Three supposedly close sisters who just go off and do stupid things and don't bother to tell one another. All three make characters just as bad, lying threatening bullying just what you want in your ideal man!!

Christiano was rich handsome and sexy and Ava was the heartless bitch who broke his heart by sending him away three years ago and married someone else. Christiano is back at her family business for a friends wedding and he is still angry at Ava but there are secrets and lies to deal with. This story had my emotions all over the place. I wished Ava had more of a backbone. I loved the Christiano had a potty mouth when he’s angry, like most of us when angry - he dropped the F-bomb. It just made this story more real. I really liked that.

Great Story and Characters

Actually the title is misleading. I understood his anger in a sense, although he was the one that refused to see her when she flew across the country to tell him. So he was wrong to blame her and treat her the way he did. The truth is he never forgot her. Did he truly think she would turn her life upside down for someone she had just met? Knowing his attitude of never settling down. That's a lot to ask.

1st it was wonderful to read the stories on all 3 sisters.
Ava appeared to be the strongest sister, but she wasn't. All 3 were strong in their own way. Ava Was responsible and caring, but had her secrets that no one knew about.
I do recommend this book.

Secrets

Are women always quicker to mature than men? Are they intended to suffer pain and grief for caring too much? Ava has led a difficult life, but can Cris make up for lost time ?

Great Storyline

Although this is the tale of Ava and Cristiano and their love for each other, many mysteries are still yet to be uncovered. An excellent character development, well written, with just the right amount of entanglement. Loved It.

Cute but I feel like the h didn’t really have a good enough reason for keeping the secret. I also feel like the H let her off a little too easy in the end.

Great read,

It is really nice the way that the authors ties her books together. This book had family, love, sadness, forgiveness and togetherness. I really enjoy all her books.

I’m really getting fed up with these heroines who behave badly but blame the hero. I thought Ava was the weakest of the sisters. I could not engage with her and I thought marrying the poor best friend and then not having sex with him made her a total user.

Cristiano was not perfect but I felt for him so much more. At the end when he is telling her he loves her as she is but she continues to push the ‘oh no you’ll fall out of love and want more children of your own’ line - I wanted him to walk away.

I also disliked the way the girls said their mother was right for never letting on who their father was. The connection with the Cassacellis was smart but really stretched credulity. Meredith, the mother was bribed by her lover’s wife so knew it wasn’t her lover and yet she bad-mouthed him alone?

I didn't know that there were two books before this one when I first started this book. Didn't matter. A a is one of triplet sisters. Her story revolved around Cristiano and the time they were together several years ago. Yes they have a history. And it ended badly. Now he is back for one of his friends wedding at her boutique vineyard. This story is the last of the sisters and all past secrets are revealed. Even though I have read it first it hasn't stopped me from reading the other two books. Clare Connelly is still an author that I will keep reading.

Good book

This was a good book to read. I loved the characters and their story line. I hope that there is another book that can combine the Casacelli brothers and the Henderson sister's. Great author.

Ok

I like the other two books better this one was a little boring and took to long to get to the point.

Really enjoyed this trilogy but recommend you read the Casacelli series first due to some crossover of the two series.
