I love this book. A few years ago, I wrote the author a letter of thanks for her wonderful book. I was so surprised when she wrote me back acknowledging, with appreciation, my letter!

The best thing about this book is the phrase "I'll handle it." That phrase, and the first two-thirds of the book, are really useful and inspiring. The last third gets metaphysical and relies upon outdated models of human memory processes, and that's mostly a waste of time.

Well, I am in the self help zone at the moment. I am reading a series of these historical self help books to understand why particular excuses emerge from students - and indeed people more generally.

Fear is a biggy. And this book is so popular and has been so successful because it does provide simple and useful techniques to manage fear. Most importantly it addresses the key challenge: an incapacity to make decisions. So fear is a bubble. Fear is an excuse. Decisions - choices - burst the bubble.

So the book is a strong advocate of personal control. Considering the alternative - that is a solid stance.

Obviously we have the customary life stories that pepper the pages. Women after a divorce. A man who has lost his job. Surviving cancer. There is nothing contextual or structural in this book. The focus remains personal growth rather than social change. But for someone in a bad place in life, it may offer those first steps out of the hole.

Quick, easy read. Builds upon her "Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway" classic. Many exercises that I think would positively help someone put some structure into their life in a way that would make it more rounded and satisfying.

"Feel the Fear and Beyond" is a self help book sequel to the author's best selling book "Feel the Fear and do It Anyway". The author's primary focus is how to deal with those negative thoughts or "chatters" through positive affirmations. This book is so somewhat spiritually based and the author states that the "Grand Scheme" of things, in the realm of the "Higher Self", nothing is really that important and that we are able to handle anything that comes our way. In fact, one of the affirmations is "I will handle it" to be repeated several times a day as well as "all is happening perfectly". This book really did not resonate with me, appeared somewhat "Pollyanna" and probably is not much better than the numerous other books on the market concerning this subject. If you are able, I would recommend getting it through your local library

If you liked the original book, you'll enjoy this workbook. I only did a couple of the exercises, but I'm giving it four stars because I've done similar exercises before and found them quite helpful. I wanted to get a sense of the bigger picture because I prefer to dig deep if I like an entire "system." But in this case even a few of the exercises (for example around gratitude and what matters most to you) can help with focus.

I love this book as much as the first. Maybe I read the first at just the right time for me but I really connected with it and it gave me the push I needed to really feel the fear and do it anyway. Brilliant books if you truly want to change and be a better person and stop letting fear rule your life

Not as good as the first book in my opinion. Interesting with some things to think about and exercises to continue self-development but was left a little disappointed.

Practical, accessible, enlightening. This is a book that stands the test of time. Some things I’m already doing, some things I’m not and am left to sit and think (uncomfortably) about. My favourite chapter is “Pollyanna Rides Again” because being positive does create positivity no matter what is happening around you. Such a good reminder.
