Getting His Wolf

Rate this book
Gay Werewolf Alpha/Omega Romance

Never in Nathan’s wildest nightmares had he ever imagined that he’d be here, tied to a pole, about to watch two werewolves fight to the death….

Alpha werewolf Max Hudson has always used his strength and speed to serve the needs of his pack – no matter what they are. But after refusing an order from his sadistic packmaster to kill a young pup who strayed into their territory, Max has no choice but to go on the run, or be killed for his disobedience. But he never expected that his escape would lead him headlong into an encounter with the mate he never thought he’d find – or that his mate would take the form of clean-cut Mountie Nathan Sutherland. Raised from birth to distrust cops, Max finds himself unwillingly disarmed by Nathan’s kindness and honesty, and allows himself to spend the night with him – only to realize that by doing so, he’s also put Nathan in deadly danger.

After finding a troubled and devastatingly handsome stranger injured and alone, Nathan’s first instinct is to help. Despite the fact he realizes that he and Max sit on opposite sides of the law, he can’t deny the powerful attraction between the two of them. Though sleeping with Max goes against all his better judgment, neither does he seem capable of resisting it. What he doesn’t know is that by doing so, he’s taking his first step into the dangerous world of wolf packs and shifters – a world he never thought could possibly exist, and a world he can’t help but be drawn to.

With the brutal packmaster closing in, Nathan and Max don't have much time to decide what’s important to them – or Max to figure out just how far he’ll go to protect what’s his.

Getting His Wolf is a 58,000-word standalone novel with alpha/omega romance, werewolf shifters, HEA and no cliffhangers. It contains steamy m/m scenes and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

This is a hot wolfy romance with a twist. The pack alpha has lost his mind and is haunting down Max, who dared to defy him.

Max has been trained to distrust cops, but when he meets Nathan, he falls and he falls hard. Nathan is human, a Mountie, and a really nice guy.

This was an easy, fairly enjoyable read. Even though this book is self-published, I noticed only a couple minor typos.

Unfortunately, the MCs aren't well developed. All they do is fuck, which is all well and good, but I wanted them to talk, maybe go out to a restaurant or watch a movie. Is that too much to ask? I never felt the mating bond between them.

The suspense/bad guy aspect was OTT and the ending rushed.

2.5 stars, rounded up because knotting.

The story is very well written and interesting. You are swept into the dramatic events occuring in the lives of Nathan, a law officer and Max, an alpha wolf now being hunted by his own rogue pack mates.

Loved the alpha/omega dynamics and the action scenes. Would love to read more stories from this world.

The beginning started out okay, but by the end... it just was boring. I thought it was going to be a decently written book, at least, but I found a fair few mistakes. On top of that, I really didn't feel the connection between the characters. There was too much explanation going on and not enough actual connecting of the two.

You could skip this book and be okay.

IF YOU SEE THIS, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR FEEDBACK ON MY NEW RATING AND REVIEW SYSTEM. IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD ADD, CHANGE OR REMOVE TO IMPROVE IT? PLEASE AND THANK YOU, LOVELY READERS.

**Level of Smut is referring to how to tame vs explicit it is, which is why I went with this rating system. THIS IS NOT A RATING ON HOW MUCH I LIKED THE SMUT. Kissing and/or making out does not count as smut. Also, when I say ‘sex scene’, if someone has an orgasm, I’m considering it a sex scene; no matter how they get there. G (Score of 1) - No smut PG (2) - 1 sex scene books PG- 13 (3) - 2 sex scene books
R (4)- Your standard 3 sex scene book. These generally aren’t as long of sex scenes or as descriptive.
X-Rated (5) - all the good stuff is in here, baby, and a hell of a lot of it. This would also mean that the story is extremely descriptive, as well.

*** Quality of Smut is referring to how well the smut is written, according to my tastes. I have certain words and kinks, etc, that I am not a fan of and will automatically drop it down if I see it. That may not be the same case for you. I’ll try to include my reasoning if there’s anything specific. (A+ = 5 - E = 1)

**** Did it Make Me Sweat ;) ? Tbh, did it turn me on? Did I want to read more and more sex scenes (The answer is almost always yes)? This is different from quality because of the simple fact that the smut doesn’t ALWAYS have to be A+ quality to make me sweat… or does it??? I guess we’ll see.

The story was ok. It just felt a little flat. I think because there wasn't much interaction overall between the characters. I just didn't feel the love, chemistry, yes, love, no.

Arden's best work yet! This was a HOT, exciting book with lots of steamy sex, tons of heart-stopping action, and some cool shifter attributes. Making use of the one of the standard devices of fated mates, the story still manages to make it fresh and captivating. The sex is not just about slotting parts together; there are a TON of scorching kisses and feverish embraces that manage to be just as erotic as the other stuff. I loved the chemistry between the MC's and liked the complications of the moral divide that the author has worked in. The danger, suspense, and action give the the story a taut quality. I felt good about where the story ended and where the characters would be heading in the future. A great read that I couldn't put down and that will surely be a reread in the future.

The Mounty and the werewolf

You couldn't make it up. Well we have quiet Nathan living and working in remote area of Canada who comes across a wounded man in ill fitting clothes hiding in a cabin. Naturally suspicious of Max, Nathan is also drawn to him. Max explains it's because they are fated mates and by the way he's werewolf.
Sounds like a comedy, well no. Instead we have cross border activities and law enforcement agencies.
In order for Nathan and Max to get together there is some pack in fighting and crime busting to be sorted out. As well as a poor human trying to make sense of the world of weres.
This a well written novella for this genre, with a good story line as well as some steamy sex.
