About the author

Mark A. King was born and raised in London and is from Irish descent .
Metropolitan Dreams, his debut novel, was released in January 2017.
He is passionate about short fiction and has been published in several magazines and anthologies.
King is a founder of FlashDogs, a global community of talented flash fiction writers who have donated the proceeds of their anthologies to global children's literacy charities.
King created the increasingly popular #vss365 hashtag on Twitter to encourage daily short fiction writing, this work has now been taken forward by a team of dedicated volunteers.
His work has been described as gritty and realistic, and reviewers have compared his work to Neil Gaiman and Philip K. Dick.
He is working on Metropolitan Fear, a sequel to Metropolitan Dreams which will be based in New York.
King is honoured to be a British Fantasy Society Emerging Horizons author.
He lives with his family in Norfolk, England.

Working with the theme "TIME" broken into three parts--PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE--a diverse group of writers has offered another volume of bite-sized stories. I always enjoy the variations in voice and focus that The FlashDogs present. Though the stories are inspired by only three photo prompts, their range is astonishing. This book may make you pause and think--about voice, technique, and the many methods of telling a story in a small space, or just about the passage of time.

Deft writing from Stephanie Ellis, K.M. Zafari, David Parkland, and Rebekah Postupak made the "Past" section enjoyable. A very clever story from A.J. Walker closed that section with a bang.

Witty Craig Anderson and Rebekah Postupak collaborated on a favorite story for "Present," while Foy S. Iver offered an emotional and heartfelt exploration of childlessness relevant for women of our time. Beth Deitchman's "Loose Ends" was tight, surprising, and memorable.

The "Future" section gave the writers a broad canvas for their imaginations, with strong offerings from Nancy Chenier, Mark A. King, and Amy Wood.

And the best part: All proceeds from The FlashDogs anthologies go to a literacy charity.

Yes, a vested interest in that some of the stories are mine but until the book was published I had no idea what my fellow FlashDogs would come up with. They did not disappoint. All produced perfect microbites of literature on the theme of Time - Past, Present and Future, reflecting a variety of genres that would appeal to any reader. A standout story for me was Enough by Foy S. Iver, a heartbreaking and poignant account of childlessness. Time is flash fiction at its best and all produced in support of The Book Bus charity.
