It took me about a month to read this hundred-page book. The only reason I kept going is that I had a hard time finding other books on Basque mythology. The book does cover some Basque legends but they have all been converted to ultra-religious, Christian moralizing tales. The language is heavily embellished with metaphors and flourishes like a rococo cabinet, rendering the short stories quite tedious. The mythological aspect is incomplete. There is no mention of the Basajuan, the Iratxoak, the Tartalo, or any such creature unique to Basque legend. I am really hoping to find a better book on the subject.

مقدمة الكتاب لغتها كانت رائعة جدا، من حيث الكتابة غير أنها مليئة بالنفاق عن دور ا ع م في تجميع الشعوب و غيرها من الأكاذيب و الأباطيل.
لقد أحببت الكتاب لأنه عن الخرافات و الحكايات التي تتناقلها الأجيال، لأنه ذكرني بجدتي الحبيبة التي كانت تقص علي الحكايا و كنت أنبهر بها عندما كنت صغيرة و لم أمل منها حتى عندما كبرت

This makes me want to learn more about the Basque people. Think with a little more background I could really enjoy it. Fabulous introduction. That alone makes it worth the read.
