A great resource for trails and hikes around the Tahoe and Reno/Carson City areas. The trails are broken up by region, making it easy to find a trail if you are interested in a particular area. Towards the back of the book is a list of trails grouped by certain characteristics (waterfalls, fall color) if you're interested in a particular type of hike.

Lots of information is included for each hike including detailed directions on how to get there (although Google maps or your phone is probably even handier), directions for how to follow the trail (particularly handy in case the trail is out of cell service range or you can't find a GPX track to download), and details about the trail including length, elevation gain, and a general description of what to expect so you can know if you need plenty of water, trekking poles, etc.... It doesn't include everything, but it includes a lot, which makes it a valuable resource.

I have several books on the Tahoe Rim Trail, the PCT, and hikes on the California side of Tahoe, but nothing for the Reno area. This book is exactly what I wanted. It starts off with a very nice introduction to the area, explaining the formation of the mountains and plains, as well as a discussion of the rivers and lakes. The book has a good number of both well-known and lesser-known places, and gives a nice summary of all of them. Looking forward to new adventures!

This book has almost 200 great hikes throughout the sierra-nevada mountains. Info is detailed, but not as much as some other series but I guess you get quantity over depth. This book is laid out by region, which makes it easy to find hikes in the area you're in. I've been on a couple of the hikes in this book and they were as described. I can't wait to try some more.
