“True love and sweet whispers,
Till death do us part;
Send someone to love
My Appalachian heart.”

At the age of thirteen, Angelina Clark followed in the footsteps of her ancestors by casting an Appalachian love spell, which promised she would find her true love. A young Angelina had been thrilled to participate in the ritual, but through the years, her father’s untimely death and her mother’s illness have shaken Angelina’s magical faith to its core. Now, as her twenty-first birthday approaches, she refuses to practice her supernatural gifts and no longer believes in the love charm.

That is, until Dylan Thomas arrives on her front porch.

Dylan, a Nashville writer, travels to the mountain town of Maple Ridge to unearth the family’s supernatural secrets. While her clairvoyant mother is convinced that Dylan is her daughter’s soul mate, Angelina refuses to see the nosy reporter as anything more than a nuisance.

The two grow closer just as her mother’s health takes a turn for the worse. Faced with mounting medical bills, Angelina is faced with selling the family’s music shop to make ends meet. Desperate to help the woman he loves, Dylan explores his own family tree and finds support from an unlikely source.

Can Dylan prove his love is real—spell or no spell?

4 Magical Stars! A captivating, bewitching story that reads like a modern day fairytale!

Set in the mystical Smokey Mountains, this story starts with 13 year old Angelina partaking in her right of passage, by lighting a candle, and chanting the magical words that will someday bring her true love.

At the heart of this story is the underlying theme of finding your soul-mate, your other half, the one that will hold your heart forever, but it’s also about family and lasting friendships. There is a little bit of magic at hand here, but you truly have to believe in love to find the one you’ll love, and even though Angelina and Dylan have a rocky start, they finally come to realize that they are each other’s destiny.

While others around them, particularly Angelina’s mother Celia, and her best friend Maddie, believe in the legend, Angelina and Dylan needed to venture down a path of self-discovery together, and oh how I enjoyed their journey. Building on friendship first, leaning on each other during difficult times, drawing on one another’s strengths, accepting each other’s faults, was all necessary and refreshing, to form a real and lasting relationship, one that would eventually lead to love.

There is an amusing scene in the book where Dylan and Angelina play a game of basketball and when one or the other makes a basket they have to reveal something about themselves that no one else knows. It’s in this moment that I feel the two of them connect and the spark of love ignites. The banter between them is entertaining and incredibly sweet. The author’s writing shines, especially in the dialogue between the characters.

There are a few mild to moderate moments of intimacy, not overly descriptive, but enough that you feel that sexual connection, very tender and sweet. It was appropriate for the read and in my opinion added to the ‘charm’ of the book. If I had one complaint it would be that at times the shift from scene to scene was somewhat abrupt, and I would have liked to see the author execute a smoother transition.

Other than that, I found this to be a heartwarming, enchanting read, with wonderful characters, a beautiful setting, and lessons in the meaning of family. Believing is a part of the magic that make your dreams come true!

Mountain Charm is the perfect read for a day at the beach or a cozy afternoon on the couch!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Sydney Logan charmed me in this magical story about love in the Appalachian Mountains. When a sacred ritual brings a 13yr old girls love spell for prince charming to fruition on her 21st birthday.

 photo louiseglover1_zps5cce0619.jpg

Angelina Clark comes from a long line of mountain witches. In tradition on every young females 13th birthday a spell is cast to bring the girl her one true love on her 21st birthday. As a child Angelina anticipated this day. She had faith in magic and then that faith was suddenly taken away with the death of her father.

His death brought fear and uncertainty into her life causing her faith in magic to crumble. She no longer practices in her supernatural gifts. She no longer believes.

Or does she? Because for a brief second she seems to when she pulls up to her home and spots a handsome man waiting on her porch, petting her dog.

‘There are moments in a person’s life that absolutely shake them to their core. Moments that make them re-evaluate their every thought, their every decision.
This was Angelina’s moment.’

A writer by the name of Dylan Thomas, from the news paper in the city comes to Maple Ridge in hopes to reveal the family secret of the mountain witches. The second he meets Angelina he is captivated by her beauty and taken aback by her furious attitude. Angelina wants him gone, away from her, her mother and her dog.

And when she finally sends him running to his car..And I do mean running in the literal sense to his car. Then and only then is she satisfied.

“What if it’s not real?” ~Angelina

As Dylan begins to feel the inexplicable pool towards Angelina, she does too. But she fights it with every fiber in her being thinking it can’t be real. Magic has failed her in the past so why would it do right by her now.

Angelina fights magic while her mother fights cancer. The stress takes its toll on both of them as their mother daughter bond is pulled even closer over their impending fates.

Love is definitely in the air and even though everyone around her can see it, Angelina needs to know it’s real and not just a spell cast from a legend passed from her ancestors.

My Thoughts
Mountain Charm will leave a smile spread wide across your face once you finish. This was a fun quick read about love, family and tradition that is sure to warm the hearts of anyone who reads it. The writing is solid causing you to automatically embrace the characters. The steam is low and pretty much kept on the pg-13 level as all the love scenes are tastefully done.
Make no mistake this is a sweet love story meant to charm readers and it does exactly that. I highly recommend it!

My Ratings
Characters- Sweet and lovable
Writing Style- Solid with witty character dialogue
Plot/Storyline- Romance with a supernatural twist
Steam Factor- Low/Light simmer the love scenes are pg-13
Overall- I loved it! READ IT!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

I was so delighted to get my hands on Sydney Logan's latest book. She's quickly becoming my favorite romance novelist. Her stories are heartfelt and sweet, framed around the redeeming power of love. So, when I learned Mountain Charm would be released soon, I pleaded for an ARC. I hoped it would captivate me (dare I say charm) me as her other stories have done.

Mountain Charm certainly didn't disappoint. The story started with a tender little scene of a mother and daughter casting a blessing spell, asking that the daughter grow up to be a beautiful, strong woman, who would find her true love at age twenty-one. It's a ritual that has long been performed in Angelina's Gifted family, and from all appearances, it seems to work; her lovely mother found true love with Angelina's father on her the very day she turned twenty-one.

Next, we find Angelina on her own birthday, but something has changed. Angelina is prickly and skeptical. She's had far too much pain and loss in her short life. Angelina essentially rolls her eyes at her friend, Maddie's excitement and belief that Angelina is about to meet her destiny. Angelina decides to go home from work early and says she supposes she'll miss out on meeting her true love today unless he's on her front porch.

There's a man waiting on her front porch.

He's Dylan Thomas, a reporter who has come to town seeking information for a story he's doing on the region's magical folklore. He's a sweet, charming man, kind enough to forgive the hostile Angelina when she chases him from the porch at the end of a shotgun barrel. "This is a Remington," she declares in one of my favorite lines, "... Also known as a Appalachian magic wand. Just watch. It's going to make you disappear."

Dylan isn't sure he believes in magic, himself, but it breaks his heart Angelina doesn't.

"This is the bud of a balsam fir tree. Mom says they have magical qualities and supposedly mend a broken heart. I’ve carried it since the day my father passed.”

Dylan gazed at the blossom in her palm. “Do you believe in magic, Angelina?”

She wrapped her fingers around the tiny bud and tossed it into the pond. They watched as the dead flower crumbled and scattered in the water. “Not anymore,” she said.

Dylan is intrigued by the beautiful, fiery, woman and gently coaxes her into letting him in. In this, he's assisted by her mother, who clearly likes him, and Angelina's traitorous dog, Cash. He starts to court her, but the course of true love in the making doesn't run smoothly. Dylan has to carefully work his way through Angelina's thorns and navigate some bumps in the road. And I laughed out loud when one of them involved bail money!

Aside from the magical elements, Angelina has a problem many women can identify with: trust that the feelings between Dylan and she are real, and being able to give a wounded heart into the keeping of another.

This is a novel which will make you sigh, laugh, and maybe just make you believe in magic again.

I loved this book so much.

At the age of thirteen, Angelina Clark followed in the footsteps of her ancestors by casting an Appalachian love spell, which promised she would blossom into a beautiful and gifted woman who would find her true love.
A young Angelina had been thrilled to participate in the sacred ritual, but through the years, her father’s untimely death and her mother’s failing health have shaken Angelina’s magical faith to its core.
As her twenty-first birthday approaches, she refuses to practice her supernatural gifts and no longer believes in the love charm.

Despite their constant bickering, sparks fly.

Angelina and Dylan belong together, they have such a strong connection from their very first meeting, omg that meeting had me laughing out loud and I bet Dylan will forever remind Angelina about it :) To the days she would come home from work and find him sitting with her sick mother keeping her company :(

Angelina may be a stubborn girl but you soon realise she is only like that because she tries to protect the people she loves.
She has such a big heart, she gives so much of herself and never expects anything back. She made me cry a few times with the way she cares and looks after her ill mother, my heart hurt for her :(

I really felt for Angelina, she tried hard to fight her growing attraction to Dylan but their chemistry is so strong she can't help but fall for him. Even though she feels this way about him can she trust that he feels the same or is it the spell she cast that has him so drawn to her?

This is where Dylan wins my heart, he knows he has to convince Angelina that he may have been brought to her via the spell but he truly loves her and will do anything for her.
With the help of her mum and Maddie her closest friend Angelina see's that Dylan truly is her soulmate and he won't be going away, she can trust him with her heart.

Dylan has moved into my top 5 hotties, he is every girl's dream man. Cannot tell you how much I love him *swoon*

This story it ticked all the boxes that makes it a must read.
If you are looking for a beautiful romance with a little witchcraft thrown in then you will love Mountain Charm.

Sydney Logan has been one of my fav authors for a while now and she once again proved why.

Thank you to NetGalley and The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Mountain Charm by Sydney Logan is a story that keeps you wanting more. Angelina is a 21-year old woman who has had to deal with the death of her father and her mother’s breast cancer treatments. In addition to all of this, she is supposed to be a witch with a special gift of healing. Angelina’s ancestors conjured a spell for girls when they turn 13 that is supposed to bring them their true love at age 21. Angelina is frustrated with witchcraft all together because she was unable to cure her parents. The story begins on Angelina’s 21st birthday. Her best friend expects that the spell will work and bring Angelina’s true love to her. Instead, she is met by a reporter from Nashville who is on assignment to do a story about Angelina’s family and their history of witchcraft. Angelina is very cold toward Dylan, but she eventually thaws and helps him with his article. Dylan falls head over heels for Angelina, but she worries that it is the spell that is causing it, not his true feelings for her. After many arguments and mistakes, Angelina finds her faith in love, her gifts, and the man of her dreams.

This story is the 2nd novel from Sydney Logan. I enjoyed this story because it really examines how these characters feel about themselves, their family traditions and beginnings, and each other. It is not predictable or cliche. It gives light to some of the history and traditions in the Appalachian culture, which many are not familiar with. Sydney Logan paints a beautiful picture and you feel like you are part of the story. I am grateful that I was given the ARC of this book to read. I plan to read it again and again when I need something to lift my spirits and believe in the goodness of others. I rate this book a 5 out of 5.

Review to come July 3rd on THESUBCLUBBOOKS blog

Two things right off the bat~
(1) I love the cover and after reading it I absolutely loved it more and
(2) I’m keeping this short, not because I didn’t like it but the complete opposite. I really don’t want to ruin this amazing story on you. This is a must read!

“Send someone to love my Appalachian heart.”
Mountain Charm captivated me from the first chapter, right through to the very last page. I read it in one afternoon, compulsively drawn to finish it. Right away, I was taken in by the characters, Angelina and Celia her mother and Maddie her best friend. The focus around the importance of family and unity really shines through with the interaction between them. The relationship between Angelina and Maddie gave some great comedic and heart-warming moments. I really liked the strength in Angelina’s character, despite great sadness in her life she pushes on with things, with a determination to make her way in life.

Then there’s Dylan, he really stole the show. He was definitive gentleman, honourable, honest, loving, caring and understanding. He and Angelina seem destined to be at each other’s throats but when they realise the animosity between them is really just chemistry, things really heat up. They are not without their troubles though, just as the good times come so can the bad. Dealing with relationships, careers, family and for Angelina the added stress of the childhood spell she cast, it won’t be plain sailing.

I loved the magical take on witchcraft and love in the Smokey Mountains. It’s not the mainstream “wands and cauldron” magic we’ve come to know, but more a naturalistic magic. I felt it was so easy to get swept up in the story; to feel the touch of the grass underfoot, see the ripples in the pond, taste the food at the fair and feel the genuine love between the characters and their emotions, especially those of Angelina. It was nice getting to read the little bits of the Appalachian folklore throughout the book and seeing how they influenced the characters. Sydney Logan has done an amazing job of enchanting the reader with her imagery, believable, endearing well developed characters with a great ending.

When reading Mountain Charm, I felt like it was the perfect book at the perfect time; it truly spoke to a part of me. There really is so much about this book that I loved; the underlying meaning, the love between the characters, sanctity of family, the idea of magic or fate bring two people together and hope. The story was funny, a tear-jerker at times, emotional and heart-warmingly beautiful. Mountain Charm deserves the 5 magical stars that I am giving it.

For me, it really is the one of the ultimate forever love stories.

“Healing isn’t just done with the hands. You can heal with your spirit. You can heal with your heart.”

Sydney had me at the yellow flame flickering! Just like Angelina had anticipated her 13th birthday. I too had excitedly anticipated Sydney Logan's second book, Mountain Charm.
Just like Angelina I was not disappointed!
When I read, I like to take time out and immerse myself in a book. A good book is just like watching a movie, I don't want to walk away from the movie till the end, I don't want to put that book down till I finish reading that last chapter. A great book I never want to leave and this is where I found myself in Maple Ridge. I only had to put the story down to giggle at an interaction between Angelina and Dylan or even Maddie or Celia.
Who out there wouldn't want to be blessed with little bit of Appalachian family magic that upon your 21st birthday your true love would appear.

..... " You are blessed, Angelina, no doubt about it," Maddie told her friend. "You are beautiful, smart. You own a successful business, and this year you'll meet the love of your life. No more horrible dates with complete losers. It's the ultimate fairy tale, and I'm a little disappointed you aren't sufficiently excited about this"......

Well maybe Angelina wasn't as excited as I would be, but she did find 'magic' could come in handy upon meeting Dylan for the first time.

......Dylan jumped out of his chair. "What the hell?"
Angelina lifted the riffle and pointed it straight at him. He didn't need to know the safety was on - or that the chamber was empty.
"This is a Remington, passed down from my father and his father, also know as an Appalachian magic wand. Just watch. It's going to make you disappear."......

I had to pause and absorb the emotion and I found myself delaying because I didn't want to finish it. I was so enamoured by all the main characters and with Sydney Logan's writing. The chemistry between the characters jumps out at you, your heart gives a flutter as it's two main characters fall in love, as well as the descriptively beautiful way she writes about Maple Ridge and the Appalachian magic held within a couple of it's residents.

.....Angelina's heart pounded faster when she realized the answer was no. The truth was she hadn't thought twice about dancing with him. Dylan made her feel comfortable and safe, which were two things she hadn't felt in a long time. "No, that's not the only reason." Dylan stroked her cheek, his eyes scorching with need. "I've never wanted to kiss anyone as much as I wanted to kiss you.".......

I was so fortunate (and so grateful) to be given an ARC of this beautiful book. I could quite honestly quote to you a lot of this book in my review. I will point out that I have now re-read Mountain Charm since I first wrote this review back in April in anticipation for it's July publication release day and I will say I was just as enamoured with it as I was the first time I read it.

I am only disappointed that I am past my 13th birthday to cast a spell, and way past my 21st to find Dylan Thomas sitting on my porch
..... Also I wish I had a porch (and a pond for that matter)
I will say Mountain Charm is a must read.
It's a sweet, romantic tale that makes you believe in love (especially at first sight)

Mountain Charm starts off with a hint of magic. On her thirteenth birthday, Angelina and her mother are casting a spell that every female for generations have performed. At the time she had stars in her eyes and a hopeful heart.

As the book starts, Angelina's heart has been broken and her belief in the spells and magic of her family has waned. Her best friend is very excited that today is the day! Surely Angelina's soul mate will appear on this, her 21st birthday! There are some very amusing moments as the door to the music shop opens and males wander through. None of them are the stuff of a young girl's dreams. I think that Maddie is much more disappointed than Angelina that no prince in shining armor appears.

Then she finds a gorgeous man on her front porch, and her traitor of a dog seems to love him.

This story is about learning what is real. Is it real love that the two of them feel? Or is it the by-product of a spell? Does it really matter? This is also about learning to trust one's own heart.

Ms. Logan has a gift for making us feel the emotions that her characters do. And it doesn't feel forced. I love that in a book; I love that in THIS book! She pulls at our heart strings; she makes us cheer for these people; she leaves us satisfied when the last page is turned.

I just hope that there are many more books in Ms. Logan's Appalachian Hearts Series!

FIVE BOOKMARKS!

I've already read portions of this more than once!

Mountain Charm tells the story of Angelina, who comes from a magical family and who cast a spell at age thirteen for her true love to come to her on her twenty-first birthday. When that day arrives and she meets Dylan, she can't believe he could possibly be the one destined to love her, and she is wary of forming a relationship with him. Can he earn her trust and love, and is his love for her real or just the result of a wish a little girl made eight years before?

This is the second published novel of Sydney Logan's I've read, and I knew going into it that I would love the storyline and become engrossed in the lives of the characters. Sydney has a way about her writing which always connects with her readers, and this is evident in both Mountain Charm and her previous novel, Lessons Learned.

I absolutely loved the characters in this story, most specifically the leading man, Dylan. He was the perfect man for Angelina in that he was so kind, compassionate, and devoted, and I loved reading about their romance. The way they met was so fun, and I really enjoyed the 'surprise' she gave to him that had him running for the hills! It was so perfect and funny.

Angelina was a wonderful character as well. With the heartache she had in her life, it was very understandable her reluctance to love Dylan, but he was so persistent and patient in his romancing of her that she really had no choice but to fall in love with him.

Aside from the characters, I loved, too, that there is such vivid imagery in Mountain Charm. I felt as if I was seeing and living the scenes as they played out, which I loved, and which shows the true talent of author Sydney Logan.

I would definitely recommend Mountain Charm to those who love very romantic stories with a hint of magic. With this story and Lessons Learned, Sydney Logan is an author I look forward to seeing more from in the future.

I really loved this charming book. Sydney paints a life in the Appalachian Mountains that may be different, but is welcoming.

The heroine, Angelina, has a difficult background and is dealing with a sick mom. Initially, she shies away from her talents and from making an emotional commitment to Dylan. The nice thing is, she isn’t wishy-washy or weak. There’s a feisty quality to her that’s endearing when she banters with Dylan, who’s a swoon-worthy guy determined to win her over. In fact, one of the things I most enjoyed about this book is the back-and-forth between them. And I liked their values and morals. The mothers in this book are great, too. One can see the influence of good upbringing and strong family ties on their offspring.

A big ‘thank you’ to NetGalley, The Writers’ Coffee Shop, and Sydney Logan for allowing me to have an Advanced Reading Copy of this book. Five stars.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this a little while ago. I really, really loved this story. It was fun and sweet and just.... magical. (hehehe) Yet again I am impressed with Sydney's writing talents.

I'm not one to go into the synopsis (chances are, if you're reading this, you already know it.) and I hate reviews that tell you the whole story so I won't be doing that. What I can say is that this story was everything I was hoping it would be. It just proves that some wishes really do come true. Even if it doesn't come in the package you expect.

I very much recommend it. It's the perfect summer romance.

Sydney Logan returns with another heartfelt and sweet romance, set in the hills of Easter Tennessee.

The book opens with a magical candle and a young girl on her 13th birthday casting an Appalachian spell to find true love when she turns 21, a tradition that the women in Angelina Clark's talented family have long practiced.

We meet Angelina again on her 21st birthday. The hopeful teenager who cast the spell is gone, replaced with a sad and scared young woman who no longer believes in magic after losing her father to cancer and dealing with her mother's breast cancer treatments.

Dylan Thomas has been sent to the small mountain town of Maple Ridge to write a feature about magic and witches that the town is supposed to have. When he meets Angelina, his interest in her is immediate and deep.

Of course, Angelina thinks he's only compelled by the charm she cast so many years ago and doesn't trust that his feelings are real. Considering that he's also there to write about the magic Angelina no longer believes in doesn't endear him to her either. The relationship is off to a rocky start, when she chases him off her property after he shows up announced.

As the story unfolds, we get to meet Maddie, Angelina's best friend, who's supportive yet pushes Angelina to give Dylan a chance. We also meet Celia, Angelina's mother, who has a talent of her own. Quietly, and with much inner strength, possibly from knowing the outcome, Celia deals with her cancer and arranges for her daughter to continue to meet with Dylan, while watching, much like the reader, how quickly and sweetly the relationship develops.

Of course, there are some setbacks, most of which have to due with Angelina's hesitancy to trust in Dylan's feelings. Dylan has some issues of his own, mostly related to his absentee father.

The characters are rather well fleshed out, and multi-dimensional. I loved Dylan's strength of conviction, though he did seem almost too perfect a few times. He's a bit of a hothead, which is the one flaw I detected, but that made him only more likable in my eyes. He is honest and open about his feelings, which served to show that he's willing to fight for what he wants.

Angelina is also well developed, and shows some real growth throughout the book. She is not perfect, but she's willing to own up to her mistakes. I would have liked to shake her once or twice for being a bit dense, but thankfully that didn't last long.

There are some characters who were a bit one-dimensional but since their purpose was in that one dimension, I didn't need to find out more about them. They were plot points, more or less, and once they'd served their purpose, they really weren't missed.

The writing is sweetly descriptive without being too purple. Great care seem to have been taken to edit and proof-read this novel. Sydney Logan writes the kind of romance novels you curl up with on a rainy day with a hot cup of cocoa to lose yourself in another world for a few hours.

Please give this a try.

I must disclose that I was one of the pre-readers prior to the manuscript going to the publisher for further editing. This did not influence my opinion of the book. If I hadn't liked it as a manuscript, I wouldn't have asked for the ARC. The ARC was kindly provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

“True love and sweet whispers, till death do us part;
Send someone to love my Appalachian heart.”

At the age of thirteen, Angelina Clark lights a candle and whispers the same love spell her ancestors did at the same age. As the years go on, Angelina grows jaded and looks at magic and being a witch as more of a burden than a blessing. She doesn't believe in that old love spell or that her true love will appear when she turns twenty-one.

Dylan Thomas shows up in Maple Ridge to write a story on Appalachian Magic. When Angelina finds him waiting on her porch on her twenty-first birthday, she's less than thrilled and less than friendly—pointing her “Appalachian Magic Wand” at him and kicking him off her property.

What commences is a slow thaw. Dylan circles around Angelina, looking for ways to penetrate her armor, while Angelina fights with everything she has not to let the charming reporter in. Soon it becomes about much more than getting a story, but there are still Angelina's doubts and fears to surpass.

I adore Sydney Logan's writing. It's crisp and descriptive—I always find myself right there—without bogging down the flow of the story. There are no wasted words or unnecessary scenes that drag on and on. Her characters are well drawn and intriguing. Angelina's dog, Cash, was a character all on his own. I'm a sucker for animals in stories, especially when they play their part in the plot. The witch angle was interesting, though I wish there had been more magic in the story or an explanation of how Angelina's family practiced as witches.

The chemistry between Dylan and Angelina was intense and the fade-to-black love scenes well written. There was nothing explicit, but the reader is given hints of what went on behind closed doors.

I found this book to be well edited, something that's extremely important to me when reading published works.

While I appreciate leaving out extraneous scenes that aren't critical to the plot, at times it felt as if there was some “meat” missing, and the transition from one scene to the next was somewhat abrupt. Although I'm not sure of the final word count, the thought crossed my mind that with the brevity of many of the scenes this might have been better suited to a novella than novel.

I would have preferred more drama. There was an intriguing situation regarding one of Angelina's ex-boyfriends that had so many delicious possibilities, and I was a bit disappointed it wasn't explored.

Sydney Logan knows how to spin a tale of sweet romance—low angst, great descriptive writing, intriguing characters, beautiful backdrop. If this is the kind of story you like to read, this one's definitely for you!

*I was provided a copy of Mountain Charm by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

Do Appalachian Mountain witches really exist? That’s exactly what Dylan Thomas sets out to find out in the sweet love story, Mountain Charm. Sydney Logan has created another engaging plot, and you’ll be convinced that love charms and healers are real.

Angelina Clark casts a spell on her thirteenth birthday, just like her female ancestors before her have, to find her true love when she turns twenty-one. Unfortunately, by the time of her twenty-first birthday life has dealt her a sour hand and she no longer wants any part of the spell. She believes the attraction she feels to journalist Dylan Thomas isn’t real, and neither is his devotion to her.

But with Dylan’s persistence and her mother’s love, Angelina begins to realize that even if the charm played a part in bringing her love to her, it has no part in keeping them together. Dylan’s not perfect, and he has issues of his own to resolve, so they’ll need to work together like any other couple to make their relationship successful.

If you’re looking for a charming love story, look no further than Mountain Charm. This is another well-written tale with just enough family issues and outside interference to balance the sweetness. I loved that the hero wasn’t the run of the mill alpha male. He had flaws to overcome, making him more believable. And although the story was mostly focused on Angelina, Dylan also had family issues to resolve, adding depth to his character and the plot.

Ms. Logan is a master at happily ever afters, and this book did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more by her in the future.

I have been a fan of Sydney Logan`s words for a long time and i was very lucky and blessed to get an ARC of this book. Needless to say i read it inmediately, i was so excited and by reading the summary i was waiting it to be a charming one. And believe me, it was that and even more.

I am happy to say that Mountain charm totally exceded my expectations and that just with every one of her stories, i fell in love with her characters from the beginning and i couldn`t wait to see what was going to happen with Angelina, her mother, Dylan and everyone else involved in this beautiful story.

Angelina is a smart, beautiful young woman whose faith has been shaken, she is now refusing to practice and believe in anything supernatural even when is part of her gifts. When she was thirteen she conjured an spell, but not just a spell, it was a love one. One that said that she would blossom into a beautiful woman and would find her true love at the age of 21. She doesn`t want to believe in it anymore but by the arriving of Dylan to her small home town eveything seems to start changing.

Of course not everything is rainbows and sunshine, it has a little drama but that only makes it a real story, where characters have struggles like every one of us but they fight to overcome them.

I won`t keep talking about the story because i could tell you everything about it ans spoil it but just let me tell you this: you will fall in love with the story and will finish it with a huge smile in your face...Just like i did.

Enjoy the book!

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book.

Angelina is a witch but she hates her powers because she feels like they've failed her. When she turns 21, everyone around her is waiting for her true love to come that she wished for on her thirteenth birthday. Enter Dylan Thomas, reporter from Nashville. He's there to do a story on the Clark family and their magic. Angelina's mom takes an instant liking to Dylan and tells him he can write the article.

While Dylan is drawn to Angelina, she has an instant dislike. Every conversation they have ends in an argument. She doesn't like all the digging he's doing, the questions he's asking, or the feelings he's causing her to feel. When she starts giving in to his flirting she can't help but think that if he's enamored with her its because of the love spell she cast and its not real.

Watching Angelina deal with her life and the intrusion of Dylan was like watching a movie in my head. I felt like I was right there in Maple Ridge, going to the festival or to the music shop with Maddie. Sitting down by the pond with Cash, Angelina's dog or on the porch with Celia. I was so happy when Angelina started to embrace her destiny, when she realized that she may of cast a spell but love kept him there. Such a beautiful journey and I'm so glad I got to take it.

I will start out by saying that author Sydney Logan is one outstanding, amazingly, captivating writer. When I start to read a book and it not only grabs by cover, title, not to mention the author, but the first chapter draws me in and absolutely places me.. within the pages of the story then I know that more than ever I will not lay that book down. Well let me begin by just that! I wholeheartedly could not put Mountain Charm Down!!!

From beginning to end this book takes you through:

I will admit at first I was skeptical. However, as Sydney does, she had me hooked early on.

I loved it.

I love Celia and how she always managed to stay positive despite everything.

Obviously, I can't give too much away, but this book is worth it...I never got tired of it (it was hard to read it before work and know that I couldn't pick it up until lunch!)

I was honored when Sydney Logan contacted me to ask if I would be interested in reading an ARC of her new book, Mountain Charm. This novel was released just two days ago and is the second book in her Appalachian Heart Collection series. If you haven’t read the first book (entitled Lessons Learned) don’t let this stop you from picking up Mountain Charm. Although the two stories share a similar geographic setting, they are completely unrelated tales and can be read as stand-alone books.

Just a few hours before I sat down to write this review, I was discussing books with a friend of mine. We were speaking in general terms, trying to learn what types of books we each prefer to read. I ended up telling her I’ll read a variety of genres. As long as there is a good plot and engaging characters, I’m almost always willing to go along for the ride.

Mountain Charm is one of those stories that doesn’t fit a typical mold. It is primarily a romance set within the Appalachia region, but it also includes an element of the supernatural. Although this supernatural element is a component of the plot, the story itself doesn’t focus entirely on it.

Logan’s novel begins in the small mountain town of Maple Ridge where Angelina Clark has just turned twenty-one years old. She is shadowed by the prospect that a love spell cast on her thirteenth birthday is due to take full effect. In the seven years since she made her wish to find her true love in her twenty-first year, Angelina has experienced the double blows of the devastating loss of her father and the serious illness of her mother. Discouraged by the lack of magic in her life to keep her parents alive and well, Angelina has lost faith in her family’s legendary legacy.

Yet, when a handsome Nashville based reporter named Dylan Thomas shows up on her doorstep to research her family’s ties to Appalachian witchcraft, Angelina can’t help but wonder about the timing of his appearance. Feeling uncertain about her belief in magic, she attempts to keep her distance from Dylan and initially refuses to cooperate with his requests to research her and her family.

However, there is no denying that from the moment Angelina and Dylan first meet he experiences an intense attraction toward her.

“They didn’t say a word throughout most of the meal, but more than once, he caught himself watching her. Everything about her fascinated him, and it had nothing to do with the fact that she was supposedly a witch. It was the subtle things. Like the passion in her eyes when she was angry, or the shape of her ass in those jeans.

“You look a little dazed,” Angelina muttered.
I am.

“And you’re staring.”

Dylan cleared his throat. “Sorry.”

As Angelina’s feelings grow stronger for Dylan, she begins to fear that his obvious attraction to her isn’t all that it appears to be. In the back of her mind, she is concerned that his interest is merely a result of the love spell and not truly because of her.

Trying to determine if you’re falling in the love for the first time is difficult enough, but Angelina’s situation is complicated by the frightening reality of her mother’s battle with cancer.

“Rest didn’t come easy. Angelina lay in bed for hours, tossing and turning. Her thoughts were jumbled and scared as she contemplated the possibility of a life without her mom. It was in her nature to be a cynic. Humans were imperfect, religion was complicated, and magic was complex, so the concept of faith was a tough one for Angelina. While she had inherited most of her mother’s traits, Celia’s unwavering sense of calm was the one quality her daughter failed to possess.
Angelina would gladly trade her big blue eyes and mystical wisdom for an ounce of her mom’s serenity.”

Dylan’s work is cut out for him. He has fallen in love with a young woman who has endured more than her fair share of hardship. She is unsure in her faith and she is uncertain if his love is genuine. A quick-tempered individual himself, Dylan must learn to exercise more patience in order to gain Angelina’s trust.

“I love you,” he whispered, letting his lips linger against her cheek.
Angelina wanted to say it back, but the words hung in her throat, suffocating her. Dylan placed his hands on each side of her face, forcing her to look into his eyes.

“Don’t say it, Angelina. Not tonight.”

Her eyes flashed with confusion. “You don’t want me to say it?”

“Oh, I want you to say it. I just want you to mean it. I want you to be sure. I don’t want there to be an ounce of fear or doubt in your heart when you say those words to me.”

I’m afraid I can’t say much more about Mountain Charm than this, but I hope I’ve enticed you enough to give it a read. If you’ve read Sydney Logan’s first book, Lessons Learned, you know she writes with a great deal of heart. Where Lessons Learned is a dramatic story that deals with complex contemporary issues, Mountain Charm is more light-hearted in nature. While there are some serious moments that occur, I would define this as one of those good summertime reads – a story that is romantic and magical and one that I found more emotionally compelling the further along it went.

I’ll read any and everything Sydney Logan writes, so when I heard that she was releasing her second novel, I knew that it would rise to the top of my 2013 faves. Logan has a penchant for writing wonderfully sweet stories with complex, likable characters, and swoony leading men. I’m happy to say that Mountain Charm hits these marks and fulfills all of my expectations. This story deals with family relationships, friendship, loss, and small-town dynamics, all couched in a paranormal yet contemporary setting. I enjoy every moment,, and gladly give Mountain Charm 4.5 stars!

We begin with Angelina Clark, descendant from a line of mountain witches. On her 13th birthday, just as her ancestors before her, Angelina casts a spell that will bring her true love when she turns 21. Fast-forward 8 years...Angelina is living in her hometown, taking care of her mother and the family business. Unfortunately, after a series of difficult events, she’s lost faith in Appalachian magic. But even though Angelina is a skeptic, the universe still has a few surprises in store for her. This surprise shows up on the day of Angelina’s 21st birthday in the form of Dylan Thomas. Dylan is a journalist from Nashville who’s come to Maple Ridge to research witchcraft and Angelina’s family. From their first meeting, sparks fly...there’s anger and passion, heat and fireworks. Dylan can’t help but to be drawn to Angelina, and while she feels the same pull, Angelina isn't convinced that their feelings are real. Will Dylan be able to convince her that what’s growing between them transcends an 8 year old spell?

I really like Angelina! She’s witty, loyal, family-oriented, and incredibly responsible. Angelina is also stubborn, and this is especially evident when she’s trying to escape her family’s supernatural legacy. Angelina’s stubbornness also comes through when dealing with Dylan. She tries to resist him, but knows that there’s no fighting the attraction.
To be honest, it’s not like Dylan makes things easy! He is so charming and caring! Dylan is actually dealing with abandonment issues, but in the face of this, he’s willing to leave Nashville to build a life with Angelina. I love how he becomes so protective of Angelina and her mom. And even though he may not understand the witchcraft, Dylan totally embraces his feelings for Angelina. More than that, he works very hard to show her that he’s genuine, irrespective of magic.

A few fave parts:

1. I may/may not be in the market for an Appalachian magic wand, BWAHAHAHAHAHA, Angelina sure knows how to make a first impression!

2. The chemistry between Angelina and Dylan is palpable! I love seeing how their initial dislike morphs into love:
Their first kiss...
“Dylan tenderly brushed his lips against hers, and for the first time in her life, she felt it--that unmistakable rush of excitement that was supposed to encompass a first kiss. It was like a jolf of energy, crackling and electric as it flowed through her veins...”
D: “That was just as perfect as I imagined it would be.”
A: “You’ve imagined it?”
D: “Since the moment we met.” *SWOOOOOOOOOON*

Their first sexy times:
“Every breathless whisper, every frantic touch. and every quiet breath vibrated through im, and when Angelina cried out his name, he felt a feral sense of pride, knowing he was the only man who would ever touch her this way, and his would be the only name she ever screamed.” MERCYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

It’s amazing to watch this bond between them grow...how it even manifests physically...like how Dylan feels when Angelina is in distress and he drops everything to be by her side! :)))))

3. This story has great supporting characters! In particular I LOVE Angelina’s Mom...Celia is such an amazing source of optimism, hope, strength, and patience:
“...magic can only do so much. It’s love, Angelina. It’s love that keeps him here. Never doubt that.” :))))))))

I also like Maddie! I don’t typically like the best friends in novels, but Maddie is an exception. She’s really supportive, and I like how Maddie encourages Angelina to let go of her fears and give in to Dylan’s pursuit.

4. I like that we get to learn about Angelina and Dylan’s pasts. Though the subject matter isn't pleasant, it’s interesting to learn about Angelina’s history with an abusive/aggressive boyfriend. This definitely shapes how she responds to Dylan’s instinct to protect her reputation, especially when that leads him to use his fists.

I also like learning about Dylan’s family history, and then seeing him confront his MIA father. Watching Dylan deal with his dad also provides a vehicle for the reader to see the extent of Dylan’s love for Angelina...almost like a foil.

The ending is straightforward and delivers a beautiful full circle moment. Even thinking about it now, I can’t help but smile. There’s so much love...romance, love between mother and daughter, forgiveness between father and son, letting go of past losses and hurts and embracing who you are.

I wholeheartedly recommend Mountain Charm to those who are looking for an engaging contemporary romance with a paranormal twist.

Many thanks to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read this book!

*Minor spoiler alert* So, I have a confession to make. I was a little nervous to read Mountain Charm by author Sydney Logan. You know that experience of hearing a song by a new artist and being completely captivated by it, only to have their second single be a major let down? Well, that’s what I was afraid could happen in this situation. I was completely enthralled by Mrs. Logan’s first major book release, Lessons Learned, and was afraid that maybe Mountain Charm wouldn’t live up to the expectations I had now associated with this author. Well, I am relieved to say, that all of my worrying was for naught. Mountain Charm is just as sweet and romantic as I hoped it would be, with characters that simultaneously make you feel the whimsy and awe of magic and love along with compassion and reverence for the human spirit and prevailing through adversity.

We are introduced to our leading lady, Angelina, on her thirteenth birthday - an age at which it seems as if everything is possible and life can truly be a fairytale. But for Angelina, this is especially believable because of her ancestry of witches and a spell that will make her entrance into true adulthood at age 21 that much more special with the promise of beauty and true love.

Eight years later we see that Angelina’s life has not been without its trials and tribulations, and that her faith in magic has been shaken to the core as a result. At age 21 she is still reeling from the death of her father to cancer and caring for her mother, Celia, who is currently fighting a similar battle. Angelina remains living in the small Appalachian town of her upbringing and manages a music shop with the help of her best friend, Maddie. At this point, the last thing Angelina wants to hear about is a spell she cast when she was 13 and how her true love should come knocking at any moment. Unfortunately for her, she is surrounded by a mother who, despite all of life’s ups and downs, remains steadfast in her belief in magic and a best friend who wants nothing more than to live vicariously through Angelina when it comes to all things related to witchcraft and romance. It is especially difficult for Angelina to avoid her magical makeup when she receives word that a reporter from Nashville is coming to town to write a story on her family’s history with Appalachian witchcraft.

That reporter just so happens to be the charming, kind, and gentlemanly Dylan, who arrives in town with very little interest in writing the story – that is until he gets a glimpse of the subject matter. Dylan and Angelina’s meeting is by no means your stereotypical love-at-first sight affair, but sparks sure do fly! Dylan is soon taken by the beautiful, fiery, and strong Angelina and becomes entranced by her family’s history and the honor with which they are regarded in town. When sparks turn to love, it is with reservation that Angelina gives her heart over to Dylan. After all, what if the spell she cast at age 13 really worked? What if the only thing keeping him interested is the very thing she has tried to escape for so long? However, soon it is clear that there is a stronger force at play than magic when it comes to Dylan and Angelina’s feelings for one another; it is soul searching love and all encompassing dedication that fortify their union, especially when they are both faced with obstacles in their personal and professional lives that they didn’t foresee.

Mountain Charm is such a fantastic story because it shows the evolution of love and life in so many different forms and through the interactions of all of the characters. Not only are you enchanted by Dylan and Angelina’s relationship, but also with Angelina’s relationship with her mother, Celia, as they both cope with illness and loss while trying to remain strong and present for the other. Although Angelina and Celia have very real magical powers of their own, those gifts are more so reflected in their personalities – Angelina with her strong and protective natural and Celia with her steadfast calm and sense of peace. You are also touched by Dylan’s quick devotion to both Celia and Angelina and laugh at the sassy and amusing yet substantial interactions between Maddie and Angelina as they grow into adults and find their lives leading them down different paths. It is in the interactions and the growth that all of these characters achieve as a result that you see the true magic and the importance of family and friendship when it comes to fortifying one’s faith in anything – whether it be love or magic. All of this occurs amongst the detailed backdrop of a quaint and charming town in the Appalachian Mountains that truly gives this story a down-home and comforting feel. No matter where you live or how you live your life, you can relate to these people and yearn for a hometown that is as invested in your success and progress as Maple Ridge proves to be when it comes to the people that live there.

It was a pleasure to discover these characters and to discover new love and renewed faith through their journey. Sydney Logan does not disappoint and leaves her readers feeling quite charmed.

Angelina Clark was born into a gifted family. Spells, and charms, and supernatural gifts have been passed down for generations, though Angelina isn’t much of a believer anymore. But when Dylan Thomas shows up on her front porch the very day the love spell she cast when she was thirteen years old is expected to be fulfilled, Angelina is forced to consider that there may be something to magic after all.

Initially, she wants nothing to do with Dylan, a reporter who rolled into town (against his will) to interview Angelina about her family’s supernatural secrets. She’s angry, and skeptical, and fiercely protective of her family’s privacy. She’s also maybe a little afraid of how attractive he is, and the possibility that magic still exists—so she does her best to chase him off.

Only Dylan isn’t so easily scared, and—magic or no magic—the pull between Dylan and Angelina is strong. It doesn't take long before the two are forced to admit their attraction and the deeper feelings that lie beneath it. The challenge, at the root of their relationship, is accepting that love is love—regardless of how it came to be—and learning to trust each other enough to believe in the magic between them.

The title of this book is not false advertising, it is completely charming. At its core, it's a story about finding your soulmate and learning to trust that your life is going to work out exactly the way it's supposed to. It's sweet and hopeful, laced with heat, and wrapped in this delicately woven air of magic. I loved Dylan and Angelina together—once they let each other in, they were so easy together. I loved how layered they were; it wasn't just a physical attraction, and it wasn't just about falling in love. They became best friends, and those bits were some of the sweetest for me.

Mountain Charm is a quick, easy read, and it left my heart so very happy. It's impossible to walk away without feeling like your heart's been warmed by this sweet, romantic, charming story. ~ Shelly, 4.5 stars

See my face? No, this is a review. You can't see it, so let me tell you what it's doing. It's smiling. BIG. Why? Because Mountain Charm lives up to its name. It's charming. To the nth degree.

Sigh.

This super fast (I read it in one sitting), adorable book was such a good read. Seriously, I pretty much enjoyed the entire thing. It was super quirky—I mean, mountain witches and love spells? That's not the norm, and yet, I had no trouble believing. Sure, it was instalove (I still don't get why that makes people so crazy), but because of the 'curse', it was easy to just love the ride. To watch Dylan—who, BTW, I'm crushing on so hard—be drawn to Angelina like a magnet? Gah, be still my romantic heart!!

God, this book was a ton of fun. There were some moments that made me ache a little. Frown a bit. But that just added to the experience. Because outside of those tension-bringing spots, it was just a blast to see Angelina and Dylan banter, fight and fall in love—spell or no spell. Now do see why I'm smiling so big? ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

Ya’all, this book struck a cord with me because it is set in the mountains of Tennessee. Living in Nashville myself, I have visited this area many times and there are few places on earth as beautiful as the Smoky Mountains. Angelina is a mountain witch in a long line of witches from her family tree. I was not aware that mountain witches were in a category of their own. Magic and spells plays only a minor role in the telling of this story. The spell Angelina casts on her thirteenth birthday is done to draw her true love to her. This is pretty much where the magic begins and ends for this witch. There is another talent or two that pops up here and there throughout the story but again, it is just not a big part of the story. Now that did not disappoint me in the least. Though I do like a good witchy book every now and then – the setting being my own backyard does not lend itself to the mystical notions of witches and such. For some reason I always want to place a good witch story either in a quaint coastal New England setting or an Ivy League university. Maybe them thar hills is crawlin’ with witches and such. Better keep my eye open the next time I do some hiking in the woods.

The rest of the story is endearing enough. It is a typical boy meets girl romance. Dylan Thomas travels from Nashville to the small mountain town of Maple Ridge on an assignment to write an article for a magazine. The article is about mountain witches of course. I did like the way Angelina met Dylan for the first time. Not a typical meeting to say the least.

Angelina is at first skeptical about the possibility that the spell from her 13th birthday would really work. Then when she sees it working in action she becomes concerned that this man who has entered her life is only there because of the spell. Dylan’s setting her mind at ease was perfect.

Now there are some romances novels I could recommend to my own mother with a clear conscience – not Fifty Shades of Grey, for example. And this book might be one I could recommend to her. There were some decent love scenes but nothing that caused me to get all hot and bothered. I would have liked a little more tempting and teasing and more drawn out southern lovin’. However, that might just not be where this author wanted to take her story. I wonder though, because she did not leave the hot and steamy out completely. I felt like the build up could have been better developed. You know what they say about bringing the reader right to the edge and then the delay… and another scene that gets you almost there but not quite all the way… before ahhhhhh FINALLY now that’s what I’m talking about! That is what was missing for me in this novel. It’s all about the build up baby!

The potential story between Angelina’s mother and a gentleman friend referred to a few times throughout the story would be one I’d like to read about. The hinting of a relationship between them and where that relationship could go and the “powers” her mother has would make for a good story indeed ya’all.

I’d give this one a good solid 3 stars.

Thanks to The Writers Coffee Shop for giving me an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Sydney Logan delivers another sweet and romantic tale set in the Smokey Mountains.

The story begins as we meet Angelina on the night of her thirteenth birthday, sitting before a candle and whispering an age old spell to meet her soul mate on her 21st birthday. This tradition is one that has been passed down for generations.

We next meet up with Angelina in the present day, on her twenty-first birthday. Instead of the hopeful and optimistic teen, we see Angelina as the grown woman who's been hurt by love before. She's also angry with the world for her father's untimely demise along with her mother's cancer diagnosis. She's jaded, disheartened and the last thing she thinks she needs is for the silly love spell she cast years before to come true. She's frustrated, thinking if magic couldn't save her father or keep her mother healthy, what was its use?

While working in her music shop, a tall dark and handsome stranger walks in. Her friend Maddie has always envied Angelina and her family's magical backgrounds, so when Angelina takes no interest in Dylan Thomas, she can't understand why on her birthday she wouldn't want to see the spell work.

Dylan, the swoony stranger has been sent to Maple Ridge on assignment to write an article about the mythical magic and witches that have been whispered about for years. He immediately takes an interest in Angelina and feels drawn to her inexplicably.

The book goes back and forth through Angelina's belief that Dylan's feelings can't be real but rather a conjuring of the spell 'making him' fall for her. The story is sweetly spun and I really enjoyed the premise and well written prose. My only real negative comment about the story is that Dylan, similar to her hero in Lessons Learned, feel a bit too perfect. Granted Dylan does have a bit of a temper, but aside from that, he was so supportive and loving, even during times when Angelina might not have deserved it. I guess while I appreciate how complex Angelina was and the growth of her character through the story, I would have liked Dylan to have a bit more range as well.

All in all, a satisfying read that was engaging and difficult to put down. Well done.

Proper review to come.

We first meet Angelina when she is a young girl of 13...full of spirit and open to life and magic. In following with the traditions of the women generations before her, she casts a love spell that will bring her true love to her when she turns 21.

But then life happens and over the next 8 years, Angelina's father is diagnosed with cancer. She tries to use her gift of healing to cure him but when she fails and loses him, she turns her back on all things magical and swears she will never believe in magic again.

When Dylan comes to town on her 21st birthday asking questions about her families history, Angelina has had enough. Despite the instant attraction she feels toward him, she still refuses to believe in the power of magic.

When her mothers cancer treatments fail, Angelina feels a terrible sense of déjà vu and is forced to lean on Dylan for support. The more time she spends with him, the more she wants to trust what she is feeling but she can't help questioning...is what he feels for her really real or is it only because she sent for him when she was 13?

This was a sweet love story. Dylan and Angelina are both well developed, likable and very stubborn characters. It was fun to watch them come together.

My thoughts:

Character development: 4
Level of Romance between characters: 4
Passion/Heat level: 2.5(There is some kissing and love scenes are PG at best)
Angst/Heartbreak: 3.5(both characters are dealing with some issues)
Cliffhanger?: No, you get a HEA and a really wonderful epilogue.

Overall, I enjoyed this one. If you are looking for something with a lot of graphic sex, this is not your book. If you want a sweet romantic love story, dive on in. Don't let the "supernatural" aspect put you off this one...it is a very small part of the story line...this is really a book about true love and knowing how to believe in it when you find it.

I got this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Angelina Clark wished on her 13th birthday for a man when she turns 21 because that's what every woman in her family does. In Angelina's family, every girl in her family is always born with black hair and blue eyes but not just that. Every girl is born a with with a special ability and for Angelina; it's the girt to heal. However her faith in her magic fades when her father dies from cancer which leaves her helpless. To make matters worst, her mother now suffers from breast cancer and Angelina has to go through the whole process again. Things change when Dylan Thomas arrives at Maple Ridge to do an article on the witches in Maple Ridge on Angelina's 21st birthday. Angelina and Dylan don't see eye to eye but things change as the spell starts to works its magic. However magic brought them together, it's up to Angelina and Dylan to continue that magic between them.

I haven't gushed while reading in a book. I haven't had time to read much because of classes but I'm glad I made the time for this book! Angelina and Dylan are a match made in heaven! The way they met was hilarious. I really like the character development, especially seeing Dylan and his father. He was going to stick to his guns and never give his father the time of day but love is stronger than hate and he loved Angelina enough to give his father another chance at their relationship.

The epilogue was so cute and I'm glad I got to see their daughter blow out her candle and wish for her prince charming when she turns 21. Dylan was a typical father who dreads for their daughter to grow up and be one step closer to find a man who will have to share his daughter's heart. Good thing Angelina is there to keep his sane and ease his fatherly instincts. I would love a sequal to this story and read into every generation!

This is literally one of the sweetest little love stories I have ever read. It reminds me so much of growing up in my small mountain home town. I love how Sydney can capture all the details in small town living. She really gets it SPOT ON. This story reminded me so much of my family and the stories passed down, it was as if I was reading a family story. I really enjoyed this so much that I'd love to see a second book. No spoilers of course but I want to know more about their family and their gifts.

Angelina Clark is such a confused little soul. She like most gals wants that happily ever after but her emotions are in such turmoil with her heritage and just not knowing.

Dylan Thomas had NO CLUE what he got himself into stepping into that town. At first I just kept thinking he is the clique book boyfriend. By the end of the book he is so much more. He is PERFECT. He is so sweet, caring, understanding, and definitely a dream come true.

I can see why Angelina is so reluctant, when Dylan comes to town, I would be too. I found that their relationship unlike a lot of book relationships actually progressed at a decent pace. It's relatatable. I like that I can actual picture myself in that persons shoes. I love the many ways their relationship develops. It's truly the sweetest of love stories.

Another great thing about this story is it isn't "predictable". I would think oh i know where this is going. NOPE . Sydney would surprise me with a twist or turn. I love that it kept me guessing. Will she? Wont she? What will he do? How will they handle that? etc..

I would like to now take the time to BEG , lol, I'm not too proud for a second book in this series. I am so curious about the rest of Angelina's family and their heritage. Just throwing THAT out there. Thanks Sydney for ANOTHER great read.

This amazing story deserves no less then 5 wonderful stars. This story had it all, it was funny, sweet, sad at times, with strong family values and a little bit of magic. It was so entertaining that I had a difficult time to put it down for very long.

It's about Angelina a young women that when she would turn 21, the love spell that was cast at 13 would go in effect. Her female ancestors and her all have the gift of the Appalachian magic. She's jaded and has stopped believing when she lost a loved one. And now her mother and her are going through some pretty hard times. When Dylan, a journalist shows up to write a paper on her family heritage, he is met with Angelina's shot gun. Lol. Everyone, except her believes he is her fated one. Dylan takes one look at her and it's love at first site for him. Is it the love spell or is it true love?

I really enjoyed these characters, they were funny and quite engaging. They fit well together and sparks will fly. Secondary characters contributed to an important major role in the development of this story.

It's a sweet refreshing story with just the right amount of angst to keep it entertaining and to keep me glued to my kindle for hours. The main focus of this story is not only about a love spell but strong family values and bonding. Beautifully written with a seamless plot. Even if it was short read, I didn't feel like the story was rushed. It was paced just right.

A story with an HEA. I highly recommend this story and some of the authors other books are worth the readers time and money. I anticipate reading more from this wonderful author in the near future.

Special thanks to the author for trusting me and providing me with this amazing story.
