This is a great bible for people in any 12 Step program. Overeaters Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, etc.

All throughout the pages of this bible, it relates scriptures back to the 12 steps in detailed side notes with complete insights. Inside of these insights, there are more scriptures that relate to the theme or step being discussed. For example, scriptures about dangerous self deception are used to broaden the meaning of Step 1 or scriptures about forgiveness and judgement might have side notes about Step 10.

Aside from "12 Step", it has recovery themes througout that apply to grief and loss, life's challenges, all manner of life events. It shows how recovery requires action not just ideology, how that obstacles are a part of life, rebuilding life after major life events, etc.

I would recommend this bible to anyone in recovery from any addiction or major life event. It is insightful and easy to read and relate to.

This book has saved my life for the last 28 years. It has brought clarity to life's questions and challenges. It makes life for real for me that Jesus Christ is God's son and my savior. The only way to get to God is through his son who died on the cross, was put in a tomb and rose up 3 days later.

Excellent!

Outstanding Bible for anyone in recovery and really, pretty good for those who aren't.

Commentary and reflection on the steps brings out the Spiritual prinicipals of recovery in a way that is clear and brings the Bible to life.

The character studies of Principal Bible characters is great in that it lets you see that people like David, Samuel, Elijah etc were normal people with addictions, dysfunctional families etc., but they still were able to find purpose and accomplish much with their lives. Whenever I am tempted to be discouraged, I find reading through one of these vignettes lists my spirits and gives me hope.

I was tempted to give it a 4, only because my copy has a missing page with a double printed page, but really, if that is all I have to complain about then I've done pretty well.

Use this Bible primarily for personal devotions and reading. Not the best for use at your Church as you'll easily be distracted by all the material present and not pay attention like you should! ;)

This is a Tool That was awesome and still is today I used THis TOol This Life REcovery Bible when I was in full time Drug/alcohol/Firearm Intake counselor. I would give these as gifts to many whom pulled through the fire without the smell of smoke also I would use it as a tool as I counseled them as well as I reccogmended this bible to everyone that needed recovery in every area of their lives.

The Life Recovery Bible ties together the Twelve Steps to Recovery of Alcoholics Anonymous with biblcial references and examples throughout. The Twelve Steps are steps to spiritual growth that are biblical and powerful when followed. You don't have to have an addiction problem to benefit from this resource. All you need is to be a sinner wanting to grow your faith in Christ Jesus.

I love this Bible... i can understand it better than just about any other edition... i am a recovering alcoholic so it makes it so much more special when they bring in the 12 step program and break it down with God's Word./.. Simply love it.... Celebrate Recovery:)

My DISCOVERY to RECOVERY

Wonderful, Bible the only version I will use now over the past 7years of my life I have been to rehab where I discovered the '12 step's program' around the time of my Mother's passing plus, job problem's and just generally feeling lost feeling what felt like the weight of the world on my shoulders. I went on to eventually move to the country where I joined an 'Elim Church' where I was baptized and gave my life 'back' to GOD and joined an forces with what I felt to be an adoptive family whilst leaving my Dad & brothers in London so I could work on my own 'identity' in that time I had a couple of suicide attempts one mainly due to feeling afraid of my new way of life and the persecution often be in my own CHURCH rather then society outside if the 4 walls . For a season STRIFE WAS RIFE and I felt caught between 2 world's I had nowhere to run and some of the people I TRUSTED & sought safe harbour from abused their POSITION.
So on one occasion, I drank 'brakefluid' yet no sooner as I had done it, I regretted it and prayed for a miracle I had come to as the ambulance men arrived & other then a short stay on hospital no real damage., Which in itself sought me to investigate further the healing aspect of pentecostal CHURCHES, as I do had scalp problem, gluten problems & lump on my breast a large mole all cleared up when various people/elders prayed for me by it placing their hands over the area so I went to pray for others and tell the m about Church and this Bible that as/is helping me to address my addiction/bad habits currently overcoming the obstacles relating to leaving the childrens s father after what felt like a whirlwind romance blesses us with many babies. NOW Thankyou for this wonderful resource I pray it goes on to help the many I have blessed in giving or recommending and works to REUNITE my family across the board'. In particular my children who had been caught up in the adoption' system to come home. 🤗

From the minute you lift the buttery leather-like book out of the box, you know it is something special.

I am familiar with Life Bibles and this one is certainly special. It brings the problems or issues currently present in a person together with Bible verses and lessons that apply. When experiencing hardships, it is so often difficult to know where to find help in the vast amount of scripture. I especially liked that the reader could choose which path to pursue. You can go straight to the Twelve Step Devotional Reading Plan, The Recovery Principle Devotional Reading Plan or the Serenity Prayer Devotional Reading Plan. When looking for a particular term or phrase, choices can include The Index to Recovery Profiles, The Index to Recovery Reflections, The Topical Verse Finder and more. The pages are filled with helpful commentary and wise explanations regarding how the verses can be applied to today’s life.

The Bible is recommended to AA participants who believe in the Christian God. The Life Recovery Bible is highly recommended to assist those involved in the AA process. However, it is also recommended to anyone fighting what the book calls process addictions, such as eating disorders, gambling or spending habits. I found it to be not only helpful, but exciting.

My personal testimony…

I struggled with severe pain, insomnia, and PTSD.
Alcohol became my friend. Even when the shakes would come on and my health suffered, I only turned to my “friend” more.
One day, an elderly church goer gave me this. I didn’t really know her. When I ran into her again a month later, I told her everything through tears.

I had been taken to the hospital, with a blood alcohol level that could kill an elephant. The doctors told my family that if I would wake up, I would have brain damage.
At the hospital, there were moments I briefly came to, and I remember a dark skinned nurse praying over me a beautiful healing prayer.

I am now going on my 4th year sober. My new name is “Ian” which means, “God is gracious” and He has been so, so kind to me.

Thank you, church lady, you don’t know how much this gift helped me. I read it every morning and every night to this day.

Thank you, Jesus, for your grace and mercy to a wretch like me. A true friend. My savior and redeemer.

I love this version of the Bible. This is my go to bible when I find myself drifting. When I need to get my car together, here is where I go. David Stoop and Stephen Arterburn put together sound biblical knowledge with recovery methods that has been proven to work for millions of people. As a Gideon, I do carry a trunk full of books to give away and this book is on the top of the stack. I carry this book to recovery meetings and to church and bible studies. I believe that this book can be instrumental in any Christians recovery from substance abuse to behavior addictions. It also contains everything you need to moderate or follow a 12 step program. Many devotionals, reflections and goodies, like introductions and themes for each book. This book is a priceless treasure that cost me a paltry fifteen bucks.

I finished reading the Bible in 90 days!! Wasn’t sure it was possible before I started, but I used a Bible app with a plan that had it all laid out for me. I was supposed to finish it tomorrow, but I was happy to read just a few more chapters in Revelation and finish!

Highly recommend!! A year with The Bible Recap (it goes through chronologically) is preferable to just reading straight through like I did this time, but it was nice to shake things up.

I love this bible and it has been pivotal in my life recovery from various issues. Hard-hitting in parts but very insightful. It reinforces "anyone who is in christ is a new creation, the old life has gone and a new life has begun!"
