Evan Smith has had his life planned out since the age of twelve. He knew what he wanted and knew how to get it.
It’s only when his sister is kidnapped that he realises that the life he has isn’t the one he really wants.
He wants more.
Evan starts laying down roots and everything seems to be going well until a hot, tiny brunette with round brown eyes turns up at his doorstep. Not only does her beauty knock Evan off his feet, but what she comes to tell him alters his whole life.
Kennedy may have given him news that shook him, but she also gave him the very thing he had wished for.
But when someone threatens to break up the life he's always wanted, how will he handle it? Will he be able to keep them safe or will he be too late?
I received a ARC in exchange for a honest review. 5* read. When I first heard Evan was getting his own book I was excited but dubious as well. I've fell in love with the Carter brothers so I wasn't sure if I'd connect with Evan as he hasn't been around much in other books and in my eyes no one can beat the brothers but I was proved wrong. Evan now has a special place along with the brothers and I'm so glad we got his story. This novella was the perfect length for me and even though he's not a Carter brother his story still fit in well with whole series. Evan and Kennedy are a unlikely couple but had so much chemistry and spark. I don't want to give to much away about how they meet and what happens but there is a lot of drama and they go on a journey that had me gripped. I devoured this whole book in one go and enjoyed every last page. This is one of my favourite series out and I can't wait for Maxs story.
This is book 3.5 in the Carter Brothers series and should be read in order.
Evan Smith knew what he wanted out of life, then his sister’s kidnapping changed everything for him. Now he wants more out of life than what he had, so he sets about making the changes to get to where he wants to be. Just as he starts to settle down he is hit with a surprise he never saw coming.
Evan had his life turn up-side-down when he found out that the woman he thought was his mother not only wasn’t but she had murdered his real mother and kidnapped his sister. This change Evan's whole look on life, he wanted what his sister Denny has, a family of her own. Knowing that being an undercover police officer really didn’t help him to achieve his goal, he decided to make a career change.
Kennedy Wright hasn’t had an easy life but she makes the most of what she has. Taking care of her niece Imogen is her first priority. Knowing that if she doesn’t find Imogen father she could lose her niece, sends Kennedy knocking on Evan’s door giving him the biggest surprise of his life. She not out to take him for what he has but she just needs his help to protect her niece.
Evan may only be a Carter through his sister Denny but is just a fiercely protective as them. We first met Evan in Denny and Mason story. He was a character you didn’t get to know as much but his own story gives readers an inside look at what kind of man he is. Evan never really understood what his sister went through until it was too late. Not wanting to let life pass him by Evan changed so he could settle down and start a family. Then a petite brown eyed brunette showed up at his door shaking up his world again with shocking news and setting his desire on fire. Kennedy may have gone to Evan for help but she definitely got more than she bargain for. The moment these two first met their lust and desire for one another ignites. Kennedy was very open with her reasons for landing on Evan’s door steps but the attention he gives her only made her shy and flustered around him. Kennedy hasn’t ever really encountered what it’s like for a man to want to be there for her and the protectiveness they can have, and with Evan she gets to experience it not just towards herself but her niece Imogen too. Lisa delivers another amazing story in the Carter Brothers series. Evan and Kennedy are two characters you can help but root for. You want them together, to see them become a family. Both the lives that Evan and Kennedy’s sister have lived prove things don’t always run smoothly. The twists in this story draws you in and leave you wanting more. Of course with this being a part of the Carter Brother series, the readers also get to catch up with of the Carter family. I was given this book for review by the author and I do have to say that Lisa’s writing and storytelling just keeps getting better with every book she writes. I can’t wait for that last two books in the series!
The story has laughs, lies, secrets, pain, abuse, grief, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Malik (Carter Brothers #1) Mason (Carter Brothers #2) Myles (Carter Brothers #3)
This is Kennedy and Evan’s story. Kennedy shows up on Evan’s doorstep with some news. He a first wants nothing to do with her but comes to find out she is not what he first thinks. She is sweet and so very protective. When she is attacked he takes her in to protect her. He finds he likes everything about her. Can he talk her into staying with him even after she thinks she no longer needs to be protected? Can he believe he will be able to protect her after he feels that he let his sister down when she needed him the most? Or will one day everything fall apart and find her fighting for her life with no protection?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
When we got offered the chance to review Malik, book one in this series, I was unsure of how it would be because high school kids are not my thing typically but I gave it a try. And I am so glad I did because I ended up loving that book.
This author has a way of pulling you in from the first page, playing with your emotions, tearing you apart, then slowly piecing you back together. I am so glad I took a chance and found her, because she is has been added as a go-to for sure in this series.
I loved this book. Oh Evan, yeah get ready to swoon and fall completely, totally in love wth this sweet man who is looking for the one. This book is a shorter novella in this series and gives us a glimpse at Denny's older brother.
This book has it all.. steam, love, passion, intense moments, and one alpha male who will do anything to keep the girl who has blasted into his life unexpectedly. This author also threw in a few twists and turns to keep us on the edge of our seats.
This is Evan and Kennedy's story. When they meet, their connection is instant. Evan is ready to settle down his life and find the one... have a family and all. And when he meets Kennedy, he finds he can have all of that if he can just keep her safe.
Kennedy is on her last leg... just trying to make it. When Evan blows into her life, it is forever going to change. She is going to fall fast and hard. And when danger presents itself, she finds a much safer place in Evan's arms. Can she find they happy ending?
Evan (Carter Brothers #2.5 This story about Denny's brother Evan and best to read this story when you finished Myles's story, I made a mistake started to read Max's story. And then there is a scene in Max's book where you need to read Evan's book first. Overall interesting, baby, drama, kidnap, and love. Love it Danny and Evan nan she is hilarious. Thank you!
Tal vez después de leer los anteriores esperaba otra cosa. Fue el libro que menos me gustó, demasiado drama para algo tan corto. No entendí que quiso hacer la autora.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Evan is book 3.5 in the Carter Brothers series. Evan is Denny's brother and their relationship is a little rocky after the whole Denny situation. I really struggled how to rate Evan. I was stuck with rating it a 3.5 or 4 stars. I liked the story and Evan himself was another alpha to fall in love with so I rated it 3.5 stars.
Evan seems to want it all after Kennedy and Imogen show up at his door. I liked Evan I think he was caring, protective and another great character written by the author.
The story was fast paced and well written. I wanted a little more twist to the story but it was pretty straight forward. In the beginning,Evan reminded me of Better Left Forgotten, Book 1 in the Forgotten Series which was written by Lisa. The whole sister thing with Kennedy and Imogen was similar. I wish Kennedy would have used curse words inside of saying things like"Sugar" and "Fiddle Sticks". It made her seem younger than she really was and I didn't find it cute. Overall, it was a good story and I am happy he got what he always wanted.
I received a copy of Evan by Lisa Helen Gray in exchange for an honest review. I adored this book. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Evan after how he behaved in Mason. However, Evan is 100% Alpha male. I was completely won over by his charm and how he really stepped up and became a man in this book. I don't think anyone could actually compare to a Carter Brother but Evan sure does give them a good run for their money. I stayed up all night reading this book as I just couldn't rest until I found out how Kennedy and Evan's story resolved. The writing is beautiful as usual by Lisa Helen Gray with the perfect combination of Romance and Action. I also loved the little cameos by the Carter brothers along with some other much loved characters from previous books. (In other words I really love any seen with Nan in it) Max is up next in this amazing series and I just can't wait to see what happens and how this bad boy will fall like his brothers have.
I have enjoyed the previous books in this series, featuring the Carter brothers. Knowing that this one featured a character we met earlier in the series, and who wasn't one of the brothers, I was a bit dubious. But in all honesty it adds so much to the series I needn't have been worried.
Evan is brother to Denny, who I have loved in the previous books. I wasn't expecting to like him quite as much. But he blew me away with just how quickly he took on the duties forced on him, and went above and beyond what he needed to do.
Being a novella I can't honestly say too much without spoiling the story. I did enjoy it, I loved seeing the other characters throughout, and I love the epilogue which gives us a little teaser from the next story. I can't wait to read more about Max.
so glad lisa is my best friend get all these books early :-) but omg what a boo we havnt heard much from evan in other books but new their was a story behind him and I wasn't disappointed loved it from start to finish and cudnt slp till I finished it I wont go into to much detail as will give away the story but wow this is a must read and cant ait to read more from this series
I was unsure whether I was going to enjoy this book because it did not really focus on any of the main characters. However, I really enjoyed it, it was actually one of the better ones. The writing in this addition was SO MUCH BETTER! I am not sure why but this book read more smoothly and there were very few grammar errors.
just read it, if you haven't jumped not on the Carter brothers band wagon by now you need a serious talking to :) evan is an extra little gift that we so needed and wanted, loved it so much and now I have new found respect for Evan, now that we know him and the man he is
What can I say, like the rest of this series it just great funny at times but also sad but it is definitely a must read like the others, it downy really have the brothers in but it is just as good so please read right to the end and you won't be disappointed.
I have read all of the carter books so far, and this book will not disappoint. This book is about Ethan which is Denny's brother I really recommend this series as when I start reading them I can't put them down. Can't wait to read Max's story.
It's shorter then the other books but it was still a very good read. Even though Evan was a supporting character in the series I was glad he got his own book. His character just stood out from all the other supporting characters and he needed his own HEA. Rated very good
I have read the Carter brothers series and for some reason I missed this one the first time around I know that it is a novella and a lot happens in the story but it is fast paced for me but i still love the characters
just when I thought this series wont get any worse, DNF-ed at 96 pages i just couldnt keep reading, this is more a one shot smut fanfic made into a book

This novella was a surprise and a little gem. If you've read the series, you know that Evan is not "part" of the Carter family, except, his sister Denny is engaged to Mason, so he is by extension. I certainly wasn't expecting him to have his own story, but it was an incredibly sweet story to read. I'm thrilled she thought of him and let him have his own story.
One major difference between this story and the others is that the two main characters really aren't "broken" as compared to the others. So, their story, isn't near as dark or torturous as the others. That was a welcome change as I had just finished Myles' story - which has plenty of soul shattering moments. It allowed my heart a break and let me read a sweet story.
As this is a novella, it's a much quicker read. It was written very well and it flowed perfectly while still sticking with the guidelines to keep it novella length. Don't fret, you still get some Carter family action, but this story kind of gives you some insight into Evan's life and what he has been up to since we got Denny's story. It took a direction I wasn't really expecting or even thought about - but it was perfect! It was so sweet and he has a pretty sexy protective side!
Definitely grab your copy today of this story. It's perfect, sweet, and lovey dovey! Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian I Dig Good Books
*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review*
This was such a good Novella. I absolutely loved Evan and Kennedy. Even though this is a Novella, it did not read like one. I find with Novella’s that they are usually fast paced and they skip time lots but not this book. This book reads like a regular size book, I don’t know how Lisa did this but I’m so glad she wrote it the way she did. I felt like I was reading a full length novel which was amazing. This Novella was a good pace, it had suspense, and such a cute ending. Of course one of my favourite characters was in her which is Evan’s Grandmother (she has the quote I love), I swear she is the best character ever. Every time she enters the book I know I’m going to laugh my head off. I definitely recommend this Novella but I do recommend reading book 1 Malik and book 2 Mason first as this series is on a continuous storyline.
