Messy, messy, and more messy! One thing about Desiree .. she’s going to write a book with some good mess in it. Because I haven’t read Hooligans and Hoodlums, I had no idea what I was getting myself in, but once I started to read Not Another Thug Story, I figured it out. MESS!
Montana, the Shooter: Bruh. Montana was something else! Of all the men that I’ve read about so far in Desiree’s catalog, Montana is my least favorite. Everything about him is low down and dirty. From the way he treated Hazel and down to his secrets *stares at Koda*, I couldn’t stand his ass. I hope Lauryn finds out the truths and lights his ass up!
Hazel Carter, the naive “girlfriend”: Was babygirl naive? Absolutely! Because why are you wanting to be with a man that’s stated he doesn’t love you on several occasion? I will say that once Koda started to open his mouth and Hazel did her own research, she finally opened her eyes and figured out who Montana was. I can’t wait to see what happens with her in the next books because I know we aren’t done seeing her.
Koda, the white boy: KODA KODA KODA! Mr. Don’t Poke the Bear. One thing about Desiree, she gon’ write a white boy that says n*gga and loves Black women. LOL! I actually did enjoy Koda because you could see that there were so many layers to him once he started opening up to Hazel. The secret we find out about Montana and how it relates to him is crazy though. Who would’ve thought? I’m curious to see what happens between him and Camilla though.
Lauryn, the Neighbor: She’s definitely my favorite character! How we were first introduced to her is crazy and I’m curious to see how that plays out because once Lauryn finds out the truths .. I hope she does what needs to be done.
Cashmere, the Player: Cashmere reminded me so much of Sexxy Red. Cashmere is pure hood, all about her bag, and wants to get close to the Carter’s so she can secure her future. In the beginning she was on my last nerve, but I started to like her more once we dive deeper into her story. I wonder what will happen with her and ..?
Morgan, Holier than thou: Church girl acting naughty! I loved Morgan because although she was all about the Lord, she still wasn’t afraid to let her other side come out. I don’t know how she just up and allowed Demarco Carter to be in her life for as long as he has been, but I guess. They are oil and water and I definitely couldn’t be with a man that made fun of my vitiligo.
DeAngelo Carter, Mr. Wal-Mart: I really couldn’t stand his stuck up ass! He definitely was your typical retail boss that takes his job a little too seriously. Who knew that we’d find out that he’s related to the Carters AND has a little crazy to him. I also was not expecting what happened between him and Cashmere to happen. But it didn’t surprise me. Men like him love talking down on women like her while secretly wanting to taste them. Loser ass!
Junie B, that’s that Nigga: I don’t know how I feel about Junie, but I will say when Tuesday took his food and ran outta Waffle House, I hollered. He reminds me like a lot of the characters this book: Haters of the Carters, which is understandable. The Carters are disgusting! Junie just seems like a street dude trying to get a come up while being shady.
Now .. with the bombshell that happened at the end of this story, I’m eager to see what happens next. Will Montana’s lies come to the light? Will Morgan and DeMarco still be messing around? What’s going on with Hazel now? And most of all .. do we find out more about Tuesday Carter? 👀🤯

Omg Montana has some explaining to do...He is a fraud, Levii isn't his real sister and they've slept together also he is telling Kodas life and hasn't been through none of the things his self...I'm glad Hazel finally came to her senses, I truly thought that Hazel and Koda were going to end up together...I can only imagine when the truth really come out...Whew beyond hyped about part 2!

Not Another Thug Story
So I read out of order, but this book lets me know about Tuesday, Demarco, and that damn Montana. He got some explaining to do. Tellin Kodas life story as if it was his. Him and Levi not being real brothers and sisters. The fact that I said I read out of order, I know the Freeman's and wasn't expecting Montana to be one. Can't wait to see what happens in the next story. Oh them CARTERS are EVERYWHERE in ATLANTA...lol

Liar
Ok Montana is the definition of a liar!!! Montana story mentions some new characters and a glimpse of old ones resurfaced. Never thought I’d see the lies being and lifestyle Montana truly is. Very surprised and joked out lol but I finally met Tuesday! It’s more Carters and more drama and can’t wait to dive in

I can't with Montana! This book started off like the other books with 50 million characters (some of which I could care less about), but overall it was a good read. Hazel impressed me. Montana still has me shaking my head. Demarco was too much to handle (but I low key loved him). Levi needs her behind kicked. I even got a quick glance at Trent, Azura, and Ontrell. Although I HATE cliffhangers, I cannot wait for the next book.

Slow start
This did not keep me fully interested lime the Carter books or For the Love of ATL. I am definitely going to finish reading Montana's story because I want to know why he did what he did. I'm glad this author gives us a list of her books in order to read. Makes it easier when I'm searching for a new series.

Can’t get enough
Oooweee! It just got interesting I can’t wait to see how Ms. Desiree spins this Montana is on something and only time and another book will telling 🤷🏽♀️. Loving the ATL hood life. Oh and Demarco craziness is book bae worthy 🤦🏾♀️

Good story, but a bunch of errors as usual.
The story itself was good, but there were a bunch of errors just like there were in the Carter series.
The commas are always sooooo misused. You have sentences that end in question marks that should have ended with periods, run-on sentences, etc.
I also noticed (in the Carter series, actually) that the author is practically obsessed with hazel eyes and green eyes. 😂 I was like, “If she tells us one more time that Koda has green eyes. Like, we get it! Sheesh.”
She also says, “wide eyes” and “eyes grew wide” A LOT. Like, okay. PLEASE come up with something else. It’s starting to become like reading the same book all over again. As a writer, I would really expect her vocabulary to be more extensive than it is. I get that this is supposed to be a “hood book,” but her storytelling has shown no real progression.
Another thing I don’t care for is when she describes an item as a thing. IE: “I grabbed a thing of soda.” “He gave me a thing of flowers.” You mean a BOUQUET of flowers?!
Idk, maybe she should read more books to give herself better descriptive words to use in her own books. Because, at this point, she’s written way too many to still be writing like this.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens between Montana and Lauryn and finding out if he catches on that Hazel and Koda kept in contact. I just want the actual WRITING to get better.

wild ride
These have to be the most unexpected group of couples I ever read about. I really enjoyed book one of the series. Yes, it’s the middle of the night and yes, I’m starting book two right now.
I hated how Montana was with Hazel but love how he is with Lauryn. I was all for Koda in the beginning but then he started telling his boy’s business and I don’t like that. DeMorgan is my favorite couple period. Complete opposites but for some reason I just feel like they are going to be the most solid. Happy reading!!

Great Writing
Nothing to say but a great story. Detailed and draws you into the scenes like you're actually there watching them play out. Desiree's skills are superb. Can't wait to finish this series and go onto Bambino which I'm thinking will give me Tuesday's story. I've read everything up until now and although I'm behind and a year or two late, I'm a fan of Desiree for life.

Ummm
I love this author books.. but it was such a struggle to get threw the book 😩😩😩 it wasn’t bad but it took me 2 weeks and 2 days to get threw it .. i read 2 other books in between .. maybe because i don’t like Montana like that so my views maybe a little bias but .. i just couldn’t get into it until the very last end of the book .. i hope the next one is better .. i missed the Hollywood carters 😩😫 but i like demarco

I know better than to fall for her characters
Having purposely started in the middle of Desiree’s catalog, I’ve learned not to fall in love with any of these characters. But Junie Boy and Tuesday were in this one, so it gets an automatic five stars.
I’m still mad that Trent gets to live happily ever after, but I guess I can’t always get what I want.

Ok so mind you I’m reading these books out of order so when the reveal that Montana is a Freeman!!!! That blew my minddddd because these families is really connected connected throughout this entire grouping of works! Desiree you the Goat like fr fr lawddddddd let me keep reading because now I’m confused with Junie and Yayo being opps of the Carters when they is Carters

Montana is so lame and I’m shocked that he was able to get under shiloh without anybody noticing he is a fraud. Im dying to know if shiloh and levii had something going on. I want Hazel and koda to lock in the next book. I don’t really care for cashmere. I like Morgan, but I feel like she can do better than Demarco

It’s a really good book, I’m not with Koda saying the n word so casually all the time especially considering his racist past, but other than that it was really good. I knew something was up between Montana and Levii

loved this
l ate this book up from beginning to end l will say it was hard getting into the new characters but that’s because l knew l would miss the ones from the Carter Girls . but i’m excited for this series l know l need to put my seatbelt on for this one .
