Another cute volume! I like how Misaka always defends Yukimura, this time making sure no one joked about him taking the race seriously. She continues to be the rock the girls and underdogs at school can depend upon, and I love that. Usui is also getting better; I swear I like him more and more every volume, especially when he’s unintentionally pestering Misaka. The way the author draws Usui during scenes where he’s bickering or exasperated (with spiky hair and pupils as slits) is so cute and funny to me. I ship him and Mikasa so hard!!

Another great installment to the manga series Maid-Sama, I love this manga so much and I love the anime just as much. They are so alike, I am glad that I chose to read this manga! I haven't been able to read lately because of homework. I didn't touch this for almost a month. I have a business assignment due on Monday but here I am writing this review. I wanted to write this review so I can start reading the 4th volume after I am done everything.

"Although you look cute when you are trying your best, now when things gone bad, I can’t just stand and watch. From now on, just leave everything to me."

If you haven't head about this series, it is about a girl named Misaki who is the president of the school. But she is secretly working as a maid in order to help her family repay the debt that they owe to others. This secret wasn't kept for long because Usui, the most popular boy in school, finds out that Misaki is a maid. Both of them go through crazy events and open up to each other. This fun read won't let you stop reading until you finish.

"Consider it an honor, because I don’t easily acknowledge anyone as being cuter than myself! Aoi Hyoudou."

This was such a cute volume, I loved the hypnotizing chapter so much, I found it hilarious. I remember when I watched this scene in the anime and they did a great job with Usui's reactions to Misaki. This was awesome and I can't wait to read more scenes that are just as funny as this one.

The scene with this was so cute:

I loved the character development with all of the characters. Misaki just gets stronger and is trying to get used to the idea of opening up to others. Usui is getting used to being there for his friends and helping out with others, (he always does that though..) And I loved the new character Aoi. The character development for this character hasn't been shown yet but I know we will see more of this character, (since I watched the anime) and I know the character development will be awesome.

"Rather than getting kissed, I’m more of the type who kisses others."

The pacing was fast and fun, when it comes to this manga. I find that I can read a volume in about 15 minutes because they are fast reads. It is so much fun to read a different type of style, manga is so different compared to graphic novels and comics because you read it differently. I remember when I first started reading manga, my friend helped me figure out how to read and which way to follow the different boxes.

I highly recommend this manga to anyone who hasn't read or seen the anime. If you have seen the anime, I highly recommend you read this, it is so much fun! And if you are bored and want a fast read that is hilarious, this is the perfect thing to read! Okay, now I have to finish my business assignment so I'll be off!

As always, adorable AF. This is what I live for in the Shoujo section of Manga.

Misa-chan is still kicking ass and taking names, while the stupid teenage boys try to tear her down, and Usui is still being handsome and effective. As usual.

Love it. Give me more. Keep it comin’.

I think my favourite part of this entire volume is just getting to see more of Yukimura. He's just an absolute sweetheart that always tries his best and he's clearly very shy and just... I love himmmm ;u; <33

And really, taking advantage of poor Yukimura's shyness. Shame on you Usui! Hilarious though ;D

Side note: cliffhanger endinggggg with this new guy (who seems to be the opposite of Misa in that he hates females ;D).... onto the next volume!

Chapter notes below for reference: (spoiler heavy)

Oh. OH, I'm enjoying this.

My unhinged and chaotic thoughts:

1. Every time Misaki takes Usui by surprise it makes me see stars.

2. The moment Misaki realizes Usui is talking about himself for once. But even as he says he'll answer anything Misaki asks, he diverts her attention to something inappropriate. I just...

3. Also, Usui adoring Misaki from far away.

4. Also also, Usui already sees right through Misaki. Not that it's hard, mind you. The girl is an open book. But him knowing you have to be subtle about helping her otherwise she becomes even more stubborn and pushes herself harder is just...

5. Another thing! Misaki saying that she would even help Usui when it comes to it and Usui being, once again, taken by surprise because he's been neglected his entire life?? I...

6. Oh, my GOD! The depth of expressions!!

7. And the whole "Misaki is the only one capable of holding her own against this perfect prince." ??? END ME.

8. Honoka calling Misaki a spoiled brat is just... hitting a nerve honestly. She's the single least spoiled person on earth who puts her all into everything. FFS Honoka. Chill.

9. Usui has an older brother and his expression says it all.

10. And the idiot trio is love, the idiot trio is life.

Not necessarily bad, and actually quite a good volume. Just disliked it more than liked it, for mostly personal reasons.
The comedy ain't my style in this series. I can see others liking it but it's not what I go for in rom-com series. I just didn't enjoy the gag scenes at all and they felt like they didn't need to be there and instead were just there to take up space? Also the plot didn't progress at all and instead we just got a few events that were pointless with no character development throughout them. It was hard to follow as well, and I'd have to predict what was happening because I had no clue what was going on.

I've got the 3rd and 4th volume omnibus for Maid-sama! so might as well read the 4th volume. Not sure if I'll continue the series, I love the chemistry and the romance so mostly likely will continue just for that aspect but we'll see.

*Review of Volumes 1-3*
Very fun! At times the jokes feel wildly inappropriate, but I'm willing to look past that. At first, my impressions of Usui just from the front cover was that he was gonna be super sleazy. But he seems pretty mild except for comments towards Misaki, which is different cuz they're gonna be a couple. He's super aggressive, which, again, somewhat uncomfortable at times, but I'm willing to look past that. He does have his dumb adorable moments too, which lightens up the mood. Misaki on the other hand is a force to be reckoned with. I really admire her for what she's done, although she is definitely stricter than my liking. She's so much like a guy in a girl's body that it scares me.
Have I gotten caught up in Usui's rizz? Maybe. Am I overlooking one too many inappropriate comments? Yes. But I can't help it.

Maid-sama! Vol. 03
by Hiro Fujiwara
4/5 stars

Well, most of the chapters, made me want to know more about Usui's background. I don't think that his family would be just a normal family. Since he is good at everything and has a lot of free time, it's likely possible that there is something that he would like to hide.

Then, the appearance of Soutaru Kanou makes me really curious. What's the reason for him to despise girls that much?

This volume is more enjoyable than before. The chemistry between Misaki and Usui is getting more and close. Love it.

I don't l0ve this. It's hard for me to get a sense of what it's about. It's VERY chaotic and frenetically written. The panels are filled with blurbs of text from 100 characters, which makes it feel like pop-ups coming at me. I can't even tell you what the main characters' names are because no one will shit up long enough.

It shows up on the lists of best Shojo manga ever. Pity. Wish I could understand why.

DNF.

You can definitely tell this was written in the early 2000's.
Basically outing a non-binary/ trans character against their will, making weird homophobic comments towards a characters that's definitely supposed to be gay without the author explicitly saying it... It's a bit much. But I'm gonna continue the series regardless.
Just hope it gets better at handling these topics soon :/
