T.S. Joyce is devoted to bringing hot shifter romances to readers. Hungry alpha males are her calling card, and the wilder the men, the more she'll make them pour their hearts out. She werebear swears there'll be no swooning heroines in her books. It takes tough-as-nails women to handle the shifters of Bear Valley.
She lives in a tiny town, outside of a tiny city, and devotes her life to writing big stories. Foodie, bear whisperer, ninja, thief of tiny bottles of awesome smelling hotel shampoo, nap connoisseur, movie fanatic, and zombie slayer, and most of this bio is true.

I have read several books by T.S. Joyce and enjoyed most of them. Sadly, this one was missing something for me. My biggest complaint is, to me, it just felt like the whole mate connection between Harrison and Audrey was missing. When they first came face to face, I realize she had on perfume to mask her animal, but I still expected a little more oomph at their first meeting. It could be that Harrison was just not alpha enough for me. He was not a rough and dominate alpha. I believe he cared about his crew but I think he put up with way too much from Clinton. He should have knocked him on his ass more than once! It seemed Clinton was alpha, an asshole one, but he seemed to be making all the decisions. Plus, it surprised me Harrison let most of his crew go but kept Clinton around.
So, this is one of those things where I think it was just me...I do want to read the next one. I'm interested to see what happens with Bash.
**NOTE: My GR friend Cyndi, pointed out to me exactly what I was feeling was missing: The whole mate aspect teetered between the bond being a choice and an actual true mate bond. It seemed it could go either way. And with Harrison, I, as a reader, was left feeling unfulfilled. I needed MORE in their relationship and that more would have been a true bond. Thanks Cyndi!!
The Boarlanders get their series now, and this first one is, well, a hoot. You see, Audrey only Thinks she met Harrison Lang, Alpha of the Boarlanders, online. She only Thinks they have a great online relationship. But when she meets Harrison for real, it seems Harrison has no idea who this crazy woman who claims to know him intimately is. Huhh? Bangaboarlander.com is, apparently, a fake site. Really? Oh, the embarrassment!
It is great getting to know the Boarlanders. We know of them because of the previous series introductions, but now we get the down and dirty. This is the C team - thanks mostly to Clinton, the nasty little turd. But at least we get to know a bit more about Clinton in this book, and I look forward to learning more about just what his nasty attitude stems from. And Audrey? I really Love Audrey! She is a shifter herself, but has never been around any other shifters. Watching her come out of her shell is awesome.
More of Damon's Mountain is cool. Joyce's Damon tales are up-and-down, but this one is more 'up' than down. I look forward to more of the Boarlanders - that is, if Clinton doesn't run them off first!
Sorry this one didn't really work for me though I see many other readers enjoyed it so it is probably a case of it just being me. This is the first book I have read by TSJ so all the past character cameos didn't mean anything to me but I felt I was missing pieces of the background. The characters were a little all over the place - and Clinton was the most confusing character. At first I thought he was supposed to be comic elites, but no. I didn't really get the connection between the H and h either.
I was so happy to see this writer had started this spin-off series. I enjoyed it for the most part. Here's my breakdown:
Pros: * Offered as a kindleunlimited * Sweet and simple shifter romance * Loveable characters * Great steam factor
Cons: * I was somewhat disappointed with how this one ended. The epilogue was lacking. I guess that’s to be expected in the first book of a series though * No real conflict - it was almost too easy * It definitely had that insta-love feel to it
Overall, I this made for a fun and quick shifter romance. I'll definitely continue this series.
3.5 stars This was a nice, sweet shifter book and I really liked both of the MC. I wanted to rate this higher but I thought the conflict was kind of ridiculous. However, it's a low-angst book so I would recommend it.
I enjoy T.S. Joyce's writing and her series, and I love Harrison and Audrey. It's interesting to learn more about the different crews and the Boarlanders are the most troubled of all the shifters. Harrison and Audrey each have problems they need to resolve before they can commit to each other and get their HEA.
Well this was a fun, super quick read. I haven’t read any of the preliminary books, so may have missed out on some of the idiosyncrasies of the supporting characters, but it can be read as a standalone and I enjoyed it nonetheless!
Poor Audrey gets catfished and makes her way to the Boarlander Bear trailer park to a very confused Harrison, but insta-love wins out and their spark shines brightly. While there is a bit of drama I thought it was handled well and look forward to reading about the rest of the crew.
With how this one started out I wasn’t sure I would like it. Harrison came off as an ass, something that he never seemed like before. Of course Willa would have her hands in things. I liked that Audrey tried to find out what was going on and how by doing that she got to know the Boarlanders and how Harrison gave her a chance. By the end lots of changes were made, but the best was that Audrey finally found a home and to not be afraid of her animal.
This was my first TS Joyce book and I do NOT recommend starting here. I thought it'd be a standalone but there were so many characters (from earlier series, I'm assuming) that it was really hard to keep track of all the names/types of shifters.
Can I just say here, I was delighted and surprised to find out there was a new bear book out by T. S. Joyce? I bought it immediately and couldn't put it down until I was done. That is the best part of these books, they are engrossing.
No, the best part is the characters. Every one of them is fully rounded, eccentric, flawed, and absolutely wonderful. I have to say that my favorite is probably always going to be Beaston, and it's so good to see him show up and follow his progress, as well as touch base with the other crews here and there. This book is the beginning for the Boarlanders crew, who have been gutted and relatively demoted to C-team since they took in a bear who is so absolutely antisocial he left the most antisocial crew, the Greyback crew, when they started shaping up and finding mates. Clinton is going to be a hard nut to crack, but if Beaston can find his HEA, I'm sure somewhere down the road we'll be seeing one for the cursed bear, too.
But back to Harrison and Audrey, the H/h here. He's a very put-upon Alpha with only the scraps of a crew left, a junked up trailer park, a deficit in his work load, and some obvious PTSD. She is from Texas, and was kind of... well, she was totally fooled into coming to meet him, already starry-eyed about him, because she has been talking to him online for two months. But not really. I won't ruin the plot here, but they do have a rocky start, and even after that, when it's clear they are both invested, things don't automatically fall into place.
Another of my favorite characters in this series isn't a person, but a thing, and that's Trailer 1010, with the saggy floors and the built-in mouse occupant, the magic house that moves from park to park working its mojo not only providing shelter but establishing a center for so many of the living characters. A place called home is always beautiful, and that can be said about the people in these stories, too. They are, as I mentioned before, so well crafted that you feel as if you would recognize them on the street. This is another great installment in the books, and for folks who may be starting with this one, do yourself an enormous favor and start building your library with all of the mountain bear series books while you're waiting for the next Boarlander to find his heart.
What I tend to like most about the majority of Ms. Joyce’s books is that she writes characters with complicated emotional lives, but otherwise keeps the plots relatively streamlined. I read far too many books that feature “alpha male” billionaires as though readers need some kind of Prince Charming to carry female characters away to live happily ever after in a castle. Or books where the female character starts out relatively normal but turns out to be the most specialist of special super-mega-powered para-creature who has ever lived.
This book hit squarely in the sweet spot of what I appreciate about Ms. Joyce’s writing. Audrey works as a waitress. She works hard and is searching for a place to belong. Harrison grew up hard and needs stability in his life. They fit, but not easily because they have histories that get in their own way. Audrey felt alone and struggles to accept herself as she is. Harrison has responsibilities to other people. They have to work to be together.
The only problem with the book is that it’s where my sense of justice/injustice regarding Willa and Easton becomes pathological. Willa catfishes Audrey. Her behavior is malicious and it would be just for either Audrey and/or Harrison to mutilate her the way that she brutalised Easton. Instead Ms. Joyce not only excuses Willa’s decisions to hurt the other crews, but leans into it throughout all of the subsequent series, up to and including, the Daughters of Beasts. Every other female character drops by the wayside from the earlier books except Willa, who is the blueprint for every superficial, insincere female character that Ms. Joyce writes.
There's nothing really wrong with the book; it just didn't really wow me. I liked Harrison and Audrey fine, but their relationship was just kind of boring. So much of the focus of this book is dealing with Clinton and his aversion to having women around, that there really isn't much time for the romance and relationship building between the two MCs.
And I'm seriously starting to hate Willa the farther along I go in this series. Why does she get away with just being freaking horrible to everyone? Tricking Audrey into thinking she's been communicating with Harrison for two months! Ugh. What an unbelievable violation, and it's brushed off. I really didn't like that.
Contains some spoilers! OMG....you surprised us T.S. Joyce! I was so excited I got an email from Amazon that you had a new release! I so wanted to read about the Boarlanders. I knew you were considering it but what a pleasant surprise!
Ok...so I laughed really really hard and loud at bangaboarlander.com...oh Willa! Only you! When he mentioned worms I KNEW it was her. Ha. Harrison...man he really was a sweet one. I liked him a lot! He's dealt with a lot lately. Clinton and his crazy butt constantly pushing the crew out and leaving them with 3 members! I kinda didnt like him before but in this one...he just pissed me off! Hold that thought! We meet Audrey who is beyond sweet and lovely and dude...tiger shifter and a white tiger no less! She's been sorta isolated her whole life. She only met a fellow shifter when we went to meet Harrison! Her mother abandoned her to be raised by a human father who was awesome and did his best. She just felt she didnt fit anywhere. Always fighting her shift and it was hard for her to adjust to her tiger. :( So...what Willa did was kinda bad BUT her gamble worked out luckily! Harrison wasn't a total douche and although he thought her crazy at first...once things were revealed he was actually really great. Hot on top of everything else...so yeah. Bash...oh he is great and I cant wait to read him. Mason is back and so is Kirk. Clinton...ok so we understand why he is the way he is. I am sad for him and he did start to come around after all the heartache he caused everyone. I have high hopes for him later. I read this book fast and I absolutely loved it! Eagerly waiting for Bash's story which is next. :)
I love T. S. Joyce. To the point that I signed up for her newsletter and will immediately buy every new book that comes out. *Even if I stop reading other books to start her new one.*
I was beyond excited that we were going back to the Bears in Trailers stories because these were the first books I'd read of hers that made me become the stalker I am. The last few books, though...don't get me wrong, I loved them, but I wasn't as invested in them as I was in the Trailer Bears. Alaska is cool and all but...nah, not for me take me to Damon's Mountains!
Anyway, I felt that this book was AWESOME. It was back to the original recipe that I loved and was soooooo into this story. I loved the heroine, I loved watching her come out of her shell and become this feisty, funny and fantastic woman...I loved the hero. He was a good guy and seriously...hot as hell. LOL. BUT I TOOK A STAR AWAY...because of Clinton. I didn't understand his motivation, if he had what they had...wouldn't he be more willing to help them rather than hurt them? I didn't understand it all the way back in the beginning when he was first introduced 15 books ago and I really disliked him in this book. The other reason I took a star away is because it ended too quickly. Clinton's change of mind about the big heart-wrenching situation that I hated to read about drove me INSANE. Therefore, star is gone. Buh-bye.
Regardless, I loved this book and I read it in one sitting. I will read the next book and the next book and the next book...you get the picture. Can't wait till February!!
Boarlander Boss Bear by T.S Joyce was a quick and sweet read.
Audrey has never fit in. Being the only shifter in her home town made it that way. With the encouragement from her family she joined a website to meet other shifters. Which lead her to Damon's mountains and the boarlander crew. Harrison is alpha and trying to keep the remaining numbers of his crew together. His life gets turned upside when Audrey comes in claiming to be his mate.
Will she finally feel like she belongs somewhere? Or will Clinton ruin it for her?
Her stories just keep getting better and better, it's a great start to this series. It was good to catch up with some of her previous characters too, especially Beaston & Willa. I can't wait for the next instalment.
I'm reading these all our if order, it was nice seeing the start of the series. I wish Willa acted different when confronted to what she's done. Audrey (and everyone else) is way way way more forgiving than me Needed a comfort read
Harrison may be stressed from being the Alpha of the most unruly, trouble-making, messed up crew around but he’s pretty sure he’d remember an online romance with a mating at the ending of the deal. So what in the world was this crazy, admittedly lovely, woman talking about. He had no clue who she was or what she thought she knew about him – he’d never heard of her before this unreal moment in time. Audrey is stunned at meeting Harrison face to face. How can he not know who she is? They’ve been in contact for so long and everything was falling together perfectly. She’d left home just to be with him. What in the world is happening?
Ah, someone among the crews of Damon’s Mountains has some serious explaining to do… and with a dating site called bangaboarlander – well, which mischief maker comes to your mind first? Maybe an Almost Alpha with a love for worms perhaps?
As we get set to dive into the next crew in Damon’s Mountains to get their stories told, Boarlander Boss Bear starts us off with quite an amazing story. By this time in this overarching connecting set of series we’ve run across, in one way or another, most of this crew. I’m glad that they all will get their own stories told finally. Clinton will finally have his story laid out for us to understand his very strange actions and attitudes. He is a man in pain and I’m looking forward to that story.
Audrey and Harrison’s romance is full of the type of drama that only these crews can produce. While she might have come to the mountains under an illusion of reality, it won’t take long before the obvious magic of 1010 and her mate come into play. I liked Audrey. She is so much stronger than she gives herself credit for, and when it comes to doing what’s right she will harm herself before others. Together she and Harrison can head up, and help, this ragtag crew of theirs.
It’s always enjoyable when characters from previous stories make appearances once again. These series really are like a huge family, and you never know who is going to drop in. Yet if I had to make a choice of who my favorite over all characters are, hands down that would be Willa and Beaston. While they are not mates, their connection is perhaps just as strong in a different way. Willa is a crazy character who never does the expected but she is as loyal to her own as anyone ever could be. Beaston is such a softy now, yes, he wasn’t always that way. He’s powerful, a bit mystic and there is something so loyal and true about this gentle giant.
I would highly recommend Boarlander Boss Bear and this entire overall series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. You will always find interesting stories, likable characters, sexy times and a sense of community that is rarely found to this extent. They are all quite addicting.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription
What Is It About: Audrey is a shifter that was raised by a very understanding human Dad. After having an uncontrollable shift in public, he suggests that she find other shifters. She joins a dating site and hits it off with Harrison, the Alpha of the Boarlander Crew. Unfortunately, when she goes to meet him for the first time he has no clue who she is. He feels bad that she's been duped and, luckily, he feels drawn to her. But he has to re-build his crew before he focuses on his love life.
What I Liked and Didn't: I don't know what it was about Audrey and Harrison but I just couldn't connect with them. On paper I should like them, Audrey's a bad-ass tiger and Harrison is a sweetheart from previous books. I couldn't bring myself to be invested in their future as a couple. I also lost interest in the members of Harrison's crew. It might be consistently reading books about the same characters over and over again but I think it's just the same plot with each crew considered a "c-team" until each of the men finds a mate and suddenly they become the best crew on the mountain. Plot-wise, I did like it. The whole matchmaking-trickery was certainly interesting but it just seemed so out of character for Willa, a bit too mean and manipulative.
Final Thoughts: I think that while each of the female characters are unique, the male characters just become so same-y. Yes, they live together, are masculine woodcutters, and are all bears but that doesn't mean that everything about them is the same except for their individual tragic pasts. Would I recommend it? The series, sure, but maybe not this individual book. Will I be carrying on the series? No thank you, I'll leave it here before I have to force myself to finish any more of the books.
The Boarlanders are the last crew of bachelor bears on Damon’s Mountain. Harrison is trying to save his crew from falling apart. Half his crew has left and he is struggling to make their quota set by Damon. When his crew falls behind it causes the other crews to fall behind as well. There is a new “C” team on the mountain. Audrey is forced to register her animal and now she is looking for other shifters to get to know. Audrey thinks she has been talking to Harrison online and that he invited her to come out and meet him in person. But, when she arrives he has no idea who she is and what she is talking about. Not to mention Harrison thinks that she is human. Harrison can’t stop thinking about her but his crew is a mess and he doesn’t want to risk a human in the trailer park. What will they do? Audrey is already in love with Harrison or who she thought was Harrison. I can’t get enough of these bears and their stories. This book was funny, emotional, and of course fantastic. Poor Audrey I felt for her she had basically moved her life for what she thought was a future with Harrison. Harrison isn’t in any better situation with his crew. All but one of them wants a mate but that one is holding the rest back. Doing everything in their power to make sure that things stay the way they are and that no one gets a mate. I can’t wait to read the next book and see which bear finds their mate next. T.S. Joyce has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend all her books.

There were so many feels in this story. I loved it even though it made me cry several times. It was entertaining and enjoyable even when my heart was breaking. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Clayton is definitely broken, but I was so angry with him and irritated with Harrison for putting up with his temper tantrums. When Audrey took Clayton down a few notches I was happy temporarily. I was glad that Clayton kind of redeemed himself (finally!). Harrison was the alpha of the Boarlander crew and he had been losing members thanks to Clayton and circumstances. Audrey came to town to meet Harrison in person after chatting online for a couple of months. When Audrey and Harrison meet face to face, Audrey finds out that Harrison has no clue who she is. After deciding to leave, Audrey and Harrison meet to talk and things start happening from there. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book.
I’m not sure I liked this one as much as the others I have read so far. Harrison I liked very much. He is stressed and gruff but once he starts opening to Audrey he seems so different. Happy and smiley. I loved reading his take on his feeling and life. Audrey puts all her hopes and dreams on bangaboarlander dot com. She is so full of happiness until she finds out she was talking to the fake Harrison. I loved how she tried to make friends with Clinton (jerkface).
Bash is a wonderful character. He seems like a giant teddy bear. Clinton is a jerkface (in case you missed it earlier). I can only imagine that will change when we get his story. Kirk and Mason seemed okay.
This was just an ok read for me. It just seemed to be missing the sparkle that the others have.
I hate that Audrey forgave Willa. I saw it coming but kept hoping that she wouldn’t. That absolutely ruined the book. What a fucked up, unfunny scam. Willa is a bitch for playing with peoples lives, her mate is an idiot for not stopping her and her alpha isn’t an alpha. Audrey forgives her because it all worked out in the end??? Are you kidding me?
Whose parent would ever recommend that their kid join a dating site called bangaboarlander.com? Also not funny, just gross.
I also hated that Harrison couldn’t choose between a psycho playing chess with his crew and his own mate.
I hope Clinton finds a mate and then he falls off a cliff and dies. I hope Clinton’s mate realizes she dodged a bullet.
Loved this book. As with all the other books written by this author I was pulled into right into the story of this book, and stayed there until I had finished the last word written, all the while watching story play out in my head like a mini movie. There are surprises waiting for you throughout the story, some are large some are small, but they all aide in making the book the fantastic read that it is. If you love shifter books and have not read any of T.S. Joyce's books, you should really give them a go, I don't think you will regret it, I love shifter books but up until these they have been wolves, I am so pleased I decided to read these books.
"She was bewitching him. He was vulnerable, cracking, breaking, and she was here clawing her way into his head"
Great start to a new crew of shifters! Harrison was strong and tried his best to keep his crew together. His back story was sad and I'm glad he found his happy. Audrey was fantastic and she was perfect for Harrison. When she was in her animal from she was absolutely playful and adorable. Also damn when they have sex, especially the first time it was hot as f*** 🔥🔥
"You haven't seen my animal. She's a bloodletting, rip- roaring, claws-out, bitey she-demon."

Have you ever felt like, or been, an outsider? Afraid someone will discover a secret about you? If so, I believe that you will enjoy this story. It is about a female shifter that doesn't understand what that means, who is duped into coming to the Boarlander Mobile Park to meet her mate, the alpha of the group.
While this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that this story and series be read in order for maximum enjoyment and to prevent spoilers.
