**This is not a standalone. This is the FINAL chapter in Penelope's story**
Giving her heart to someone else was never going to be easy. It was going to bleed, but it was worth it for the chance at love.
Finally, she was moving forward and able to envision a brand new future, other than the one she had planned. But when Jay and Penny are torn apart by their worlds, it seems like everyone is out to keep them apart.
Hearts are hurt.
Truths aren't told.
And when both of their pasts keep trying to make them present - trusts are tested.
Is Penny able to find her happiness with a love that conquers all? Or is it not only her cut that is bleeding love?
Kathleen grew up in the south-western suburbs of Sydney, where family holidays by the beach and tormenting her two younger brothers, was how she spent her early years. But at the young age of 11, when she submitted a short story to a talented writing competition through the NSW schools program, not only did she win it, but she quickly found a love for it as well.
Throughout her schooling, writing was a hobby, along with sketching and various sports. But fast forward to her adult years when she moved to Europe to follow her husbands field hockey dream, and her love for writing surged to the surface. Her debut story, Cut, was penned over two years where her hobby seemed to lead to the completion of Pennys' world. The rest of the series came the following year.
Kathleen enjoys writing stories full of self-discovery, emotional journeys and of course, love. Something else she loves is hearing from her readers, so feel free to follow her blog or drop her an email.
I was dying for this book to be completed so I could read more of the Penny/Jay/Evan saga. It did not disappoint me. This is the final book based on these characters and the best one by far. The characters grow and change so much and you cant help but have an attachment to them. I was quite emotional in some of the scenes and also a huge bundle of nerves. Bleeding Love really got to me and I could not put it down. Beautiful conclusion for a must read series. I cannot wait to read more of Kathleen Maree's works in the future.
I had been hanging out for the last instalment of Penny/Jay/Evan’s life and was blessed to be one of the lucky few that got to read it first. I was totally blown away by Kathleen’s third book Bleeding Love. I loved the character development; I loved how drawn into all their lives I had become. I felt a lot reading this book, it made me feel love, anger, excitement all at once. It did a fantastic job of completing the series…..though I do believe that Giselle deserves her own book (hint hint Kat!!) as I feel in love with her character even more in this book. Kathleen’s writing has developed as well from her debut novel Cut to Bleeding love if this is the type of writing only 3 books out the sky is the limit for the future. If you loved Cut, enjoyed following their stories in Battlescars you will absolutely LOVE Bleeding love the conclusion!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Kathleen proves once again that she can keep her readers emotions twisting in the wind with this soul gripping conclusion to Penelope's journey in the “Cut” series. It has been a suspenseful, sexy, violent, gut wrenching ride from beginning to end that had me absorbed emotionally in Penelope, Jay, and Evan's life. Kathleen had me constantly wondering which one of these gorgeous men would keep Penelope's heart in their clutches and what danger lurked around the next corner. Bleeding Love was full of deception, revenge, heart ache, with a small helping of steam that left me in a jumble of emotions with plenty of happy and a little bit of sadness.
After reading Cut and Battlescars I have seen Penelope live through extreme highs and lows, overcome her fears, and endure pain both physically and emotionally. She finishes her journey a much different woman than she started. Penny transformed from a depressed, insecure, scared woman to a vibrant, confident, loving woman. Kathleen created a heroine that was cut deeply, scarred, and healed throughout the story. Upon meeting her, she frustrated me on so many levels but after experiencing her life I am filled with nothing but admiration for the woman that she becomes. She grows by leaps and bounds in Bleeding Love and becomes a formidable opponent to Jay's ex, Tahlia, and refuses to back down.
Hmmm... One of the best reasons for continuing to read this series is getting to experience more of this delicious package of a sexy rock star. Jay never fails to cause my heart to alternate between fluttering and pounding with his searing looks and sweet endearments to Penny. If only the woman who originally stole his heart didn't have to make an appearance ready to fight Penny and be a part of his rock star world. I couldn't help but to continue falling for his smokin' hot good looks and his heart wrenching path taken before and after meeting Penny. I cannot wait to delve deeper into his story in Numb and know every facet of psyche.
Kathleen makes sure not to leave out the other handsome captor of Penny's heart in this final installment of the series. Without Evan, Penny's story would be missing out on a white knight who has fallen from grace and is trying to get back up and fight for his lady love. Evan is back to stir up turbulent emotions and intrigue in Penny and Jay's relationship as well as the reader's heart.
Kathleen delivers an engrossing love story that is sure to induce heart palpitating suspense and sucker punches to your emotional solar plexus. I highly recommend the Cut series for a story that will slice you open, make you bleed, and mend you in ways that you would never expect. Kathleen continues to surprise and annihilate me with every twist and turn.
Received a copy from author for an honest review. Full Review and more available at http://wp.me/p7bgOg-3w One thing that has happened with this series is the fact that each book gets better and better. I Thought book 1 was okay, and book 2 was good, but book 3 Awesome! We had are love triangle go through up and downs in this book. We honestly at times were confused and stun by Penny, Jay, and Evan’s choices.
I believe in the concept ‘you never know how good you had it till it was gone.’ Well that is true to both men in this store. Each had Penny and lost her at some point. Each trying to win her back. Jay is stuck touring through the United States for 2 months till his contract is up. Penny refuses to follow him around and get stuck in the same situation she was in with Evan. Evan is determined to win penny back regardless of what is going on and who she is with. One of my favorite lines of Evan’s is,
“Do what you need to. Be with him if that’s what you need to do. But know this… I’m going to be here. Waiting. The day you [realize] I’m who you’re meant to be with, I will be here. Ready. And I promise you. I’ll never let you go. Ever. Again.”
“I know what I want Penny. I never thought I would have it in my life and its all I’ve ever wanted. I meant what I said. I’m not giving up. I ‘m going to fight for us. I can’t… (…)… I won’t.” Jay also had a falling apart with Penny and ends up saying this to her.
What I liked about this story was the internal struggle we get from Jay. Penny and him have problems while he is gone and it breaks him. Makes him become the man he never wanted to be. His sister and friends can’t help him. The only person that can do anything is Penny and she isn’t there. To make matters worse his ex-fiance shows up and has determined to win Jay back.
You think there is multiple outside forces trying to pull Jay away from Penny, but it isn’t. When we discover what is truly going on and who exactly is pulling all the strings it is crazy. It added a great twist to the story.
If Kathleen has only gotten better with each book she writes, I am excited what she has in-store for us next
Bleeding Love is the third and final installment in the Cut series by Kathleen Mare'e. It is the end of Penelope's story and I feel as if I have watched an egg hatch, a tiny bird wobble free, spread its wings and finally leave the nest and take flight.
When the series started with Cut, Penelope was a simpering, pitiful mess. She was weak, dependent on others and emotionally broken. We saw her start to toughen a bit in Battlescars. With the help of Jay and their developing relationship her wounds, both physical and emotional, began to heal and her true personality began to show through. Now in Bleeding Love - the real Penelope is singing like that bird that finally left the nest. Shes tough enough to love Jay and Evan. Tough enough to stand up to Tahlia.
I hate to see this series end but on the same side I am glad to see it concluded. I needed the closure within the story. The author did a wonderful job of developing the story line and Penelope's character so well that I felt I really had a vested interest in what became of it all. It was a beautiful story (all three books) and I will recommend the series to my fellow readers.
I am so pleased that I was asked to be a part of the read/review team of this series. *Thank you Kathleen Mare'e!*
Bleeding Love being the final instalment in The Cut series had me hooked from the very first page obviously because I was left hanging from Battlescars and I needed more but also because I was now so intwined in the relationship of Penny and Jay that I needed them to have that happy ending that they both deserved and I was desperate for answers. Again I was taken on an emotional roller coaster and I just LOVE Jay!! I love it when a book has me consumed that I can't put it down and that's what I got with this one, it is definitely worth the read. This is the fifth book of Kathleen's that I have read and I have to say I am loving her work!! She is definitely now a firm favourite of mine and I look forward to her future works.
To say i was impatiently excited for this book was understatement. Since finishing Battlescars book two, i counted down the days until i could rejoin Penny and Jay's story. I was not disappointed, Bleeding Love book three and the final in the Cut series by Kathleen Mare'e i believe was the best one by far!
We pick up with the love triangle cliffhanger from Battlescars. Penny realises by the end of the book that she can love both men but she knows that Jay owns her heart and Evan will always have a place in it. Jay and Penny's relationship is tested in Bleeding Love with the return of Tahlia Jay's Ex and her secret motives. All the craziness of the book starts when Jay heads back to the U.S for The Cray's month long tour of the country. A few of Penny's relationship insecurities start to return with a few incidences which Jay hides from her ( he has his reasons i promise <3 ).
I think Penny is finally more independent and stronger in herself as a character and i loved it. Remembering how much she relied on others and her low self esteem in the first book to what she is now is AMAZING. Going through all that emotional and physical pain has made her a whole new Penny, one who can stick up for herself, learn to trust and just have fun again without all the worries. Kathleen done a fantastic job building Penny up from what she was. All the characters like Jay, Evan and Giselle all grew as characters. Jay with his relationship with Amy his sister, Evan and realising that Penny has given her heart to someone else and all he can do is be her friend and be there for her. Giselle believing in herself with her working career and pushing herself. Also Penny and Jake form some type of awkward brotherly friendship (i secretly think he likes her :)). Lets just say Bleeding Scars has it all jealousy, lies, deceit, betrayal, backstabbing, insecurities and just good old DRAMA!!! It will have you laughing, crying, salivating for more sexy rocker JAY RYKER and longing for the series to continue. You will though get the closure you'll need to end the series because the ending is perfection. Kathleen Mare'e you yourself has blossomed as a writer since Cut. Your writing is just so stunning. You have a fan for life right here! Thank you for emailing me all those months ago asking me to review your new series, I'm so incredibly grateful i could be apart of this journey of yours. Last thing ill say is #TEAMJAY
So this is the final book in the Cut series and it picks up where the last book left us – on a massive cliffhanger.
Jay leaves to go back to the US to go on tour with his band for a month, leaving Penelope in Sydney. Like always with this couple there is Drama, in the form of the exes. Tahlia is causing trouble for Jay and Evan seems to always show up where Penelope is and is always willing to be a shoulder to cry on.
There is Jealously, Backstabbing, Betrayal and just a whole lot of Drama.
This was the perfect book to leave the series on, everything might not have gone my way (I don’t want to give too much away) but I was happy with the ending and I loved the characters even more – I even found an appreciation for Tahlia which I did not think was possible at the beginning of the book.
I wish the series could keep continuing, I don’t think I would ever get tired of Jay and Penelope. The ending is wrapped up in a nice little now though which I can accept and there is a hint of a spin off story based on Greer which I’ll be keeping my eyes open for.
This series has been a great read and recommend you pick it up of you haven’t already.
Think Rockstar romance but less fluffy and more emotion.
Look out for Bleeding Love when it releases on the 7th of April!
My Rating : 4 Stars
Check out my Reviews for Parts One & Two Cut & Battlescars & My Interview with the author Kathleen Maree’
I had forgotten about the last book in this series . Once I found it I remembered the first two books without reading backwards! That is amazing considering how much I read. It is a testament to how good the previous books are. I could not read fast enough. The books have a lot of angst ,mystery, love, and love ! LOVED IT!!,!
ok this is Book 3 in the Cut series and it's a must to read this series in order (Cut, Battle Scars and Bleeding Love ), each title is so perfect cause as I read these I felt just like the titles. In Bleeding Love we get the final of Penelope, Jay and Evan although I'm happy but I'm sad as well. One thing is we actually get to see a growth in these characters. Penelope has grown alot , now standing up for herself and what she wants, no its not be easy but she's not been alone, Jay has always been there even when the world kept them apart. This was an emotional read and end to amazing characters. loved this whole series.
