What a great follow up to Forged In Stone. Forged In Ice picks up right where the last book left off. James and Ainsley are getting used to the idea of being kindred and are trying to discover just what this means/how this is possible. Unfortunately for James, his worst possible nightmare is about to come true. You see, somehow beyond the grave, James' father has found a way to contact him. At first he feel as though he's loosing his mind, but when Ainsley ends up getting poisoned, he quickly realizes that is not the case. James isn't sure how to fix what is going on, but he does know one thing for sure; he will do anything to keep Ainsley safe......Ainsley is still struggling to come to terms with the way her life has changed. There is so much that she doesn't know or understand. But, she does know this; the connection she feels with James is undeniable.....
I have to say, I loved Forged In Ice. I was so excited to be back with James and Ainsely. I absolutely love this world that Alyssa Rose Ivy has created. I am beyond intrigued by the Essense and Guardians and dying to find out more answers.
Forged In Ice was a quick and easy read for me. I devoured this book in just one sitting. I loved that this book had a little something for everyone. There was mystery, suspense, danger, and romance. I also loved the way that Alyssa Rose Ivy has once again, incorporated characters from her other stories. I love that I will never really have to say goodbye to my old friends, because I know that I will be seeing them once again!
Forged In Ice is an exciting addition to The Forged Chronicles. It is super easy to get lost in this story and the characters. You will be holding your breath waiting to see how everything will play out. I loved everything about this book. And that ending......Oh, my goodness!!! I have to know what will happen next!!
*I was provided with an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
I am very pleased with this series. The plot seems familiar, like the mortal instruments series, but it's still good. I don't feel like I'm reading the same old thing.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way compensated for this review.
We finally return to James and Ainsley's story in Forged in Ice by Alyssa Rose Ivy! I am pretty much a hardcore fan of Alyssa these days! I ADORE here Paranormal New Adult reads! There are so few in the NA genre, but I eat hers up every time because they are all so extraordinarily awesome! And what's even cooler, is that pretty much all her series encompass one another in some way. Meaning...we're going to see some familiar faces in this one!
Ainsley is now James' kindred, but there's a lot more to it than he's telling her. Mainly, that she's been poisoned by his dead father and that Ainsley basically craves James. While it may seem romantic in part, it pretty much means she literally cannot live without him. And if you know Ainsley at all from the first book, she's a pretty independent young woman. Though, she doesn't really understand what's happening between her and James, she just knows that she's in love, and that part is totally true.
James is trying to figure out what his dead dad did to Ainsley and this involves a lot of traveling through the worlds. They come back to Ainsley's world at one point with Talon and Henry in tow in order to track down a certain group of wolves who may be able to help shine some light onto their current dilemma. Yes, wolves!!! DIRE WOLVES!!! I was pretty much bouncing in my seat when Talon mentioned needing to see someone from Ainsley's world!
I just love seeing all these characters make cameo appearances. And it's almost more than just a cameo as the Dires are going to help James and everyone out! I won't get into the technicalities of what all that encompasses, but just know that familiar faces will be seen!!
Another predicament that comes about is Ainsley's friend Grace suddenly goes missing. And it's in a really weird roundabout way. It's one of the more confounding mysteries of the story, and sadly, it doesn't get resolved this go around. Nor do we do much investigating as it kinda pops up during their search for answers regarding problem #1! So I suspect this will get resolved in the next book, but it leaves me itching to wonder what happened to Grace! A ton of theories are going through my brain because Alyssa has totally taken me by surprise before...so any one of them could be correct!
And as far as romance goes, I think it's safe to say Ainsley and James are happily in love! They really click with one another and I think Ainsley is adjust well to James' world. It's been a little too long since I last read their first book, but memory vaguely recalls Ainsley being a little skittish over things. But I love that they're in love now! I love watching the slow burn romance and I love seeing their relationships get more and more serious as well!
The ending here leaves you with a few too many questions, but all we can hope for is that the next book won't be too far behind Daisy and Owen's next book! Alyssa Rose Ivy is the best Paranormal New Adult author I've ever read! If you're looking for that paranormal element in your NA reads, then pick up any of her series!! But I highly suggest starting at the beginning with Flight! ;)
Overall Rating 4.90/5 stars--yes another awkward rating...my poor memory left me staggering in the first few chapters as I couldn't recall much of what had happened, but I quickly overlooked that and dove into the story at large!
Forged in Ice is Alyssa Rose Ivy’s second book in the Forged Chronicles and the continuations of the epic love story of James and Ainsley. There were so many twists, turns, and jaw dropping moments to this book! In true Rose Ivy form, she gives us yet another amazing paranormal read that leaves us begging for more.
As I have said many times before in my reviews for Rose Ivy’s books, one of my favorite things about her writing is the crossover of paranormal worlds. In Forged in Ice, Rose Ivy doesn’t disappoint as she bridges the storylines between The Afterglow Trilogy and the Dire Wolves. Now, I know what you are thinking… What if I didn’t read those? Don’t fear, she still leaves just enough mystery to navigate you through the trials that James and Ainsley face without ruining the backstory of the other books. But people, let’s face the facts- you need to be reading Rose Ivy’s other paranormal books as well because they are just that freaking awesome.
Without divulging any of the story line, Forged in Ice ends on an amazing high. James and Ainsley have quite the road ahead of them. Although their love for one another is almost indescribable there is a lot of danger ahead. I, for one, am excited to see what tangled spiderweb Rose Ivy has in store for her readers! Until then….
***I was given this ARC in return for an honest review**** Some spoilers
I love how this book picks up exactly from where Forged in Stone leaves off. I love how Alyssa crosses over her stories. I was happy to see Denny (and of course the other Dire wolves) again. I was also happy that there was now missing time to be made up.
James and Ainsley are an awesome couple and I loved how James is still so close to Charlotte and Ainsley was becoming so. It is taking alot for Ainsley to get used to how her life is changing and being James kindred and it is only going to get more confusing. How is she James kindred? How is she connected with Energo? And what does James father want with her?
James has a secret that he doesn't want to believe....his father may not be here in body but he is present in James mind and that could be very dangerous. What Ainsley is in danger James will do the one thing he swore he wouldn't do ask his father for help...... Have we lost James and Ainsley to darkness???
I cannot wait for the next book in the Forged Chronicles to see if Charlotte can help bring them back.
OMG... Let's just say Alyssa is the Einstein, Mozart and Beethoven of PNR. Normally I write really detailed reviews, but decided I'd just get down to it. JAMES, AINSLEY, Sexiness, Fan Favorites, Mystery, Suspense, and DARKNESS. That's how I'd describe this book. Alyssa again delivers a work of art through words and descriptive characters. I've been a fan of her paranormal books for a while and this does not disappoint as it crosses ever so gently into fantasy. I've never read a fantasy novel before, but how ingenious was it for Alyssa to use well known characters from the "Chronicles" to introduce me into a new genre of reading.
James and Ainsley have a lot ahead of them. I was excited to see....oops I can't tell you, but yes they were there too :). I enjoyed how this story crossed into familiar territory while taking the reader on a journey to new worlds and dangers that will affect them both.
I cannot wait for the next chapter. I did not want to provide spoilers, so if you want to know why this review is vague, you'll have to READ THE BOOK!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I am a huge fan of this author and her storytelling skills. I am happy to read more of James and Ainsley’s story. They are an interesting and engaging couple. It is great to visit Belgard once again. This well-devised kingdom is one of my all time favorite fantasy locations. It has been since I read The Afterglow Trilogy, also by author Alyssa Rose Ivy.
I can appreciate her efforts to blend together the world of The Forged Chronicles/Afterglow Trilogy with the worlds of her other Chronicles. I love the idea of the crossover, however I feel like some of the flow of information feels forced.
It is a huge undertaking… the blending of all of Ivy’s many Chronicles. I am sure that it is very difficult to plot the story lines to do so. I know that Ivy’s storytelling skills are excellent, so I am looking forward to a more easy-going flow with the next installment. 3.75 stars
I love Alyssa's books. I don't think there is a book written by her that I have not enjoyed. With every single one that is published I'm squealing like a mad woman. Her books are for me like shoes for some women. Or bags. You get the drift. I simply adore them. And with this one is no different. The story about James and Ainsley is simply captivating. Darker than rest of her chronicles. With darkness it reminds me a bit the Dire chronicles. And I Like it a lot.
In here we follow the adventures of Ainsley in the new to her world of Energo. Different world. Totally different culture. And also different type of danger. But one in all of the madness is sure: her feelings for James which seem to grow with every moment they spent together.
James. Oh that sexy man. Gah. I love him. Almost as much as I love Jared. He is determined to save Ainsley. Even if saving her means he will have to lose himself.
This book is simply AMAZEBALLS and deserves more than 5stars!
I really loved James, “neediness that involves wanting to have sex with me is not a bad thing. In fact it is wonderful.” James is a great man all for making his woman happy and I liked that a lot, “I will be sure to have the plumbing taken care of for you.” I would make it a priority. I wanted to make her feel comfortable in my home because it was going to be her home now too." Although I did love James he could be a bit strange, “you crave me. You told me yourself. You crave me like a drug. Your body knows you need me.” Telling her was both painful and exhilarating. I never wanted to hold anything back from her again." Of course there was a cliffhanger but I really got into the story when a few surprise characters popped up and now I'm eager for the next book.
In Forged in Ice, James is keeping a pretty big secret. The darkness is creeping in, both mentally and in the physical world. How is this possible with James' dad being dead?? I'm not telling. I don't fully understand it yet myself, but it really has me intrigued. The characters go on a journey where we get to meet some new faces and some familiar faces(from other series), and it ends with me completely on edge and wanting to know what happens next.
The ARC of Forged in Ice by Alyssa Rose Ivy was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
** received a ARC copy of this book in exchange for an Honest review **
I was so excited to read this after I enjoyed the 1st one in the series and as usual Alyssa Rose Ivy did not disappoint.
I loved reading the blossoming relationship between James and Ainsley, reading his struggle with the guilt he feels for dragging her into this situation but his love growing for her all the time.
Got very excited with them being joined with some other great characters from one of her other series, they all went so well together.
Another fab read highly recommended and I can't wait for the next one in the series
James and Ainsley's story continues in Forged in Ice and just wow! As I finished this second installment I can honestly say that I was left speechless. The turn of events that takes place that leads up to the end of this book leaves me anxiously waiting for the next installment. As James and Ainsley's romance continues their kindred bond strengthens and their journey takes them on a twisting path of deception, their bond will be tested, lines are drawn, sides are chosen, and an ultimate betrayal of trust will forge the way for our hero. I can't wait for Forged in Fire!
I wish these books were longer. That is my only complaint. I want to know more and see more. The story picks where book one left off. Ainsley is still floating from here to there. She loves James and want to be with him at any cost. James stills holds on to many secrets but is still true at heart, until those he thought he could count on turn against him. When you are backed into a corner, you come out fighting. I can't wait until the next to see where all this is going.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. *
Forged in Ice is the sequel to Forged in Stone. I have to say I didn't think the story could get any better but Alyssa proved me wrong. I loved seeing characters from other books come into the story to help. Ainsley and James relationship continues to grow. The ending has me worried of what's to come. If you loved Forged in Stone you will love this book!
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review. Book two in the series. Book one was good but book two was even better!! More action more characters. Ainsley and James need to find a way to take off the spell his dad has put on them. Going to Louisiana to find the descendant of the Dire Kings so that they can defeat the darkness. Ainsley's best friend and her boyfriend also go missing and have to find her too. It's action packed fun filled ride!!
Well a disappointing 2nd book I have to say . ... I dont like weak women who depend on men especially for sex. This is an unusual story where the poison is associated with the need for sex. However Im still not sure what the story is about other than getting rid of darkness who has poisoned Ainsley. I do love the two POV makes it all the more interesting. Sexual content not for a younger audience.
I loved this book. Nothing makes me fangirl more than when Alyssa crosses over characters from other Chronicles books. This one had my number 1 and my number 2 chronicles guys in one book and it was amazing. This story is getting so interesting. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
This book is amazing I love reading anything from this author she is truly amazing in what she does I love all the character crossovers in her book really couldn't put this book down its a must read.
Another amazing book in this awesome series, every book Alyssa release in theses book i have to read. I cannot wait for the next one, I'm dying to know what happens.
