Harper: My trip to Brazil … and the irresistible, tattooed fighter I met there … were just a quick break from reality. Now it’s time to focus on my residency and my career as a doctor.
Except my vacation fling turns out to be my stepbrother -- the son that my new stepfather never knew he had. And my life is going off the rails. How can a man who’s a total player, who never had a father, help me deal with what he’s left inside me?
Everything is chaos, but there’s one thing I’m sure of: I want Crash more with every day that passes.
Crash: Maybe I haven’t always had the easiest life. And yeah, maybe there are things I wish I’d done differently. But you can’t change the past. The future’s what matters -- and with Harper, I have a chance at something real.
I want to man up, step up, and do the right thing. But how can I when she won’t even admit the truth?
I have to admit that the overview intrigued me but the read let me down. I was expecting something else, I suppose. The writing is fine but I think my biggest issues were that the pace of the book was far too fast and the fact that the book was so unbelievable due to the pace. 3 I wanted to love it but just couldn't stars.
I'm all for step-brother romances because it's kind of interesting to play with and can be awesome if the story line is executed right. This one revolves around an ex-military guy who is now a pretty well off MMA fighter who has a one night stand with a hot women while in Brazil to only learn later that she's his new step-sister as his recently learned real father is married to her mother.
The craziness moves at the speed of light from there. Honestly, the two kind of didn't work for me, either. They fell a bit flat because I needed more personality, more struggle, more something. It was a super fast read and I didn't struggle to finish it, but I didn't fall in love with it, either.
One hot steamy night that neither one of them can forget for many different reasons. "Crash" is fighting his way through life and as its something he excels at he is now making a living from. An ex marine he is now a MMA fighter making himself known in the ring in Brazil. After the death of his beloved mother a discovery in the bottom of s long forgotten box has him rethinking his plan for life.
Harper is an intern, on track to become a brilliant doctor. Having recently broken up with her long term boyfriend as he was too controlling she has a holiday fling with a complete stranger to celebrate her new found independence. What happens in Brazil should stay in Brazil...
Tangled together in more ways than one this is a story of how one night can change everything. Harper must decide what she really wants from life and reconcile her choices with her conscious. Crash also has big decisions to make when he realises the woman that he wants to date is his future step sister. Can something so taboo ever be right?
This is a short fast paced story that showcases the talent of this new author. It has a lot of things going on and some ideas would have been great if they were more fully explored as they were a little cliched. An ex marine becoming an MMA fighter but risking it all by losing himself in a bottle due to his grief. A woman fighting to be a success in the male dominated world of medicine. Parents that meet and fall in love making them step siblings after they have already spent the night together...It was intriguing and I certainly enjoyed it. It lacked a supporting cast of characters that I wanted to explore but I would definitely read more by this author.
Andrew " Crash" Nolan is a former marine who is back after serving in the military. He is fighting in MMA fights in countries like Brazil where is going to get a title shot. There he meets Harper who is on vacation after stressful year in medical school. They have a summer fling in Brazil, thinking they would never see each other again…which ends up not being the case. Harper gets home and finds out her mom is getting married to a man she has only known a few months. Harper is happy that her mom is happy but there is something not right about this situation. About this time, Crash is going thru his mom’s belongings and finds an old letter she had written. It looks like it was written to his dad or so it says. Crash is beyond angry and he goes in search of this man back in the States…when he gets there, he gets several huge shocks to his system—one of them being that he comes across his summer fling, Harper and the other is his father is going to be getting married to Harper’s mom. There are multiple twists and turns in this story along with passion, angst, anger, and joy. The ending is fantastic. I really enjoyed this story, especially with the MMA theme.
My rating: 4.4 stars ****
*A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review*
I tried to like this book, I really did, but it just didn't do anything for me. I love a book where I can really connect to the characters and feel emotions through them, and I just felt nothing for these characters. I especially got very annoyed with Harper from the get go.
So Harper is on a trip to Brazil with some of her friends before they start their residency at a hospital when then get home. They go to a bar and that is where she meets Crash for the first time. This is where the book first took it's nose dive for me.
When Harper meets him she automatically knows that he is a player. She tells herself she isn't going to let him make advances on her "I was sure that kind of thing worked with other girls, but it wasn't going to work on me. No matter how much my friends encouraged me to have a rebound fuck." When Crash starts to make advances on her she leaves to go to the bathroom, and her friend tells her she should just go and have sex with him and Harper tells her no, "I'd never had a one night stand in my life, and I wasn't going to start now." When she exits the bathroom she finds her friends took her seat and Crash just pulls her reluctantly right onto his lap. Then later they leave to head to the beach and end up having sex in the ocean.
Now..... I'm all for a bad boy player manwhole type falling for a good girl, I'm all for a girl character having a one night stand with said guy she just met, what I am NOT okay with is having a female lead character with no backbone and just fawns over a guy because he's hot. She takes a character that doesn't want a one night stand, isn't interested in the guys advances because she knows he is a player, and completely shoves it all out the window because her friends tell her to and because the guy is hot. She could have easily made this character play a little harder to get and still have ended up with a one night stand for a better reason. It just pissed me off that the character was that much of a pushover. *ugh* It just made me so angry! I had to stop reading for a few hours.
When she gets home her mom tells her that she is going to get married to a guy (who has lots of money) and asks her to come visit. When she gets there the mom asks her to move in because she would be closer to the hospital and wants Harper to get to know her new step father. This is another problem I had. This girl is supposed to be becoming a doctor, she has gotten herself through school, and worked her ass off to get where she is by being top of her class. She is independant and lives in an apartment with her friends. NOT ANYMORE! She decides at the drop of a hat that she's going to move in with her mom and stepfather now. Can this character not have any form of indepencence or sense of self at all? *sigh*
Crash's mom dies and he comes back to the US from Brazil to settle his moms estate and that is when he finds out who his father is. We find out that Harpers new stepdad is Crashs father.
I'm not going to reveal the rest of the book, but it ended up with a happy ending.
I just couldn't get over how much she could have made this female character so much stronger and not such a pushover. Crashs character was okay but forgettable. He's an MMA fighter, which could have totally been a great spin on the story, but there's only one or 2 scenes he fights in.
This book had a great concept but poor execution in my opinion.
I always love to read new authors but hate when I have to leave a bad review, but I need to be honest.

Andrew " Crash" Nolan, former marine having served two tours in Iraq now fighting a different fight this time for championships, for money. Don tells him his soon to be step daughter is a doctor and can expedite the Dna testing. crash agrees and goes with him and is further floored and excited at the same time when Don's stepdaughter is none other than the women he has been craving, the women who he can not get his mind off of ,vHarper Kelly! I really enjoyed this story, the characters had depth and wonderful chemistry when together. My thanks to Haylee Delane for the arc copy in exchange for an honest review!
I received an advanced review copy of "Crash" to give an honest review.
Wow I was kind of hesitant when I first received early copy of this book . I've never heard of (Haylee Delane) author before and of course since this is her first book you can understand why I was hesitant. I hate giving bad reviews to upcoming authors.....If this is her style of writing Plz sign me up for any future releases.... This author style is amazing.. The story was well written it's got a great plot to it that flows nice and easy.
with that said let me give you a brief view of this book cuz I do not want to spoil it by giving you too much details away. ... Crash & Harper first meet in Brazil at they had one amazing one night stand, imagine their surprise when their lives interact in ways they never expected. Crash being Marin doing 2 tour in Afghanistan , he had no troubles using his skill in the MMA Octagon Harper just finish Medical school & was going to start her 1st year of Residency at Santa Monica Genercal Hospital I would highly recommend it to anyone that loves the MMA Fighter books a
Mixed feelings. I love books by new authors, its always fresh and new. You could see the potential and their feelings/hope through out the book. I believe its the best time to connect with an author is when he/she are totally new and with a clean slate.
Harper and Crash. I loved the characters. Despite Crash being a total asshole at first and Harper being an idiot near the end. I still loved them. They had potential.
This book was really short for me. I kept on waiting for more, but just nothing happened. The book was really fast sometimes, and then suddenly slowed down, fast fast and then slow. It was confusing.
Still, I enjoyed the book. And having high hopes for the second book by this author, I guess it would have improve a lot. Crossed fingers!

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This does contain some spoilers.
I like very few Step-brother romances. Only a few have gotten it right. I was hoping I was going to love it. Unfortunately, I didn’t love it. It didn’t have editing errors so that impressed me. I do think it needs to be clearer at each chapter who’s POV it is. It took me a few sentences to understand who was talking. This book moved slowly in parts. Some of it was drawn out and some of it wasn’t. I admit I skimmed a few pages here and there. I did have issues with the book.
Harper and Crash meet at a bar while she’s on vacation and he’s fighting the MMA circuit in Brazil. They have a one night stand. They have unprotected sex and she thought she was on the pill and that’s what she told him. Then remembers after she is sober she isn’t. I liked her at first. She’s working on her residency to become a doctor. She’s head strong and works hard. She’s tough on the outside but inside is soft and sweet. That’s at first and then that’s so not her. She turns into goo or something. Crash is your typical playboy. He’s had it rough growing up poor and no father, and is a MMA fighter and before that a Marine. Seems like a good guy but lost a little. He hasn’t been home in a long time. Takes solace in many women and that doesn’t seem to be working for him anymore. He finds out his mom died and decides to go back home. He’s angry because he didn’t know she was sick. That’s something I am surprised that there isn’t a whole lot of details or development on that front. Him being gone for so long as well. He finds out he has a father who never knew about him. He goes to talk to him and finds out it’s the same guy Harper’s mom is marrying. Boom. He takes it quite well actually.
Harper being a doctor does a DNA test to confirm for Crash and Don which takes her seconds. Realistically that’s inaccurate. Even in an actual testing facility it takes minimum 2 days and up to 2 weeks. So author needs to research that kind of thing before adding it into books. Most readers are going to know that and its an error.
Harper keeps the fact she’s pregnant with his baby from him. Its kept until the very end which doesn’t work for the story in my opinion. Should have been revealed much earlier and dealt with by both Harper and Crash. She told 1 person and that happens to be her gossipy best friend Ava who told her ex Jeremy. That came with a slew of issues too. I get what the author was trying to do with that but it just didn’t work. Their romantic relationship wasn’t developed well either it was mostly physical. It bothered me that she wrote that Crash took things so well. There wasn’t any real conflict between them. Not really. This story just wasn’t developed as well as I like the end was too fast. It had some plot holes. I know all authors are different. They write different. This story just wasn’t for me unfortunately.
CONGRATS HAYLEE...PLAN ON READING SOME MORE OF YOUR VERY INTERESTING BOOKS I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW........OVER 18 READING Crash Nolan, MMA American fighter, left the Marines two years ago but for the last year he had lived Brazilian MMA fighting and now he had taken their championship, now it was time to ready and go home. But for this night he planned to celebrate his manager had two women, limo and hotel room ,also handed him a bottle of tequila. The next evening he ended up at the hotel bar where he saw three young women, one of which really drew his attention, so he offered to buy them drinks. He introduced himself, and one of the women says," I'm Ava, that's Mia and this (pointing to the one that had his attention) is Harper'. He discovers that all the girls were on vacation in Brazil, between medical school and starting their residency. Ava and Mia had boyfriends back in the states, but Harper had broken up with her 's a month before so while they wouldn't be cheating, they saw no reason not to try to fix Harper up with Crash, and they slipped away while they were talking. Now their plan wasn't Harpers, she knew that Crash was a player and she wasn't in to one night stands, but he pulled her out on the sand, where the band was playing for a dance, and moonlight walk to the quiet end of the beach to swim. As the sun woke Harper up, on the sandy beach with Crash, she realized she had gotten drunk , she walked away to get ready to go home to Santa Monica to start her residency. When Crash woke finding her gone an realizing for the first time he wanted to see a woman a second time, he goes back to the resort and talks to the guy at the desk who tells him that the girls checked out to return to the US, but he was able to get her last name-Kelly. On the day Crash was going home he woke to a call to inform him his mother (who was his life, a single mother who had done her best ) had died, he didn't even know she was sick-cancer. He Told His Mom's Lawyer he was coming home today and would see him the next morning. When going though his mothers things he found a letter that looked years old and was never mailed, reading it he found out who his father was and that his mother never told him about being pregnant and the address told him where he was and that though his mom worked hard to put food on the table his father was well off. He decided to go tell him she was dead and took the letter. Two hard weeks of long hours and Harper just wanted to go home and sleep, but her mom calls and tells her to come to her boyfriends house for dinner and they had something important to tell her then she could sleep there because it was close to the hospital...so she went .. was she in for a shock, actually over the next month quite a few of them. As these two keep getting knocked down by one thing after another, they keep getting back up and growing stronger. I loved the story and the ending was great, this was defiantly a story I could have kept reading.
MMA fighter reacquaints with vacation fling and meets his father.
~~~I received an ARC of Crash by Haylee Delane for an honest review!~~~
This is Ms Delane’s first book, and for being a beginner it was well written. This only thing I had an issue with, and why it's only a 4 star, is that with each chapter I had to figure out who's POV I'm reading. My suggestion is to do as other authors do and label the chapters by who's POV we are currently reading. Other than that, I truly loved the story and premise.
The story starts out with “Crash” Nolan winning his fight and having his trainer providing “entertainment” for him. The next day he meets Harper and her friends in a bar at the resort they are all staying at. Harper’s friends are trying to coax her into having a fling with Crash to get her mind off her longtime boyfriend. She at first resists all his charms but as she drinks more, she loosens up…..and well you dear readers know where that can end. Only thing, once Crash wakes up and finds Harper gone, he goes to the resort to find her. Only he finds that she and her friends have flown home to the USA, and only getting her last name, not where she lives.
Harper Kelly is in her first year at a residency at Santa Monica General Hospital. She has always been the top of her class, never doing anything reckless……that is until her vacation to Brazil and the one-night stand with Crash, that she just can not forget. And with a secret soon to emerge, she will not be forgetting the handsome hunk of a one-night stand anytime soon.
Both Harper and Crash have events that await them once they are both back in the good ‘old US of A. Theses events once again bring them together, the only question is what will they do once they are together again? Can they maintain and step-sibling relationship or will they succumb to more? What secret is Harper carrying, and how will it affect everyone?
This step-sibling story is similar to most others out there, but it has a different feel to it. It was like they weren't has hung up on being step-siblings as in other books, but their hang ups are the secrets that will be revealed. I would recommend this book to all romance lovers, though just remember that the chapter breaks are not labeled as to who's POC you will be reading.
I received this for an honest review. This is a taboo book but do not let that scare you off. Many times people get the wrong thought when it comes to stepbrother books. I know it is not for everyone. There is so many types out there. This one is were they meet before they know they are step siblings. Actually truth of the matter is their first meet they were not even step siblings yet.
I always love to meet news authors. This is Haylee Delane’s first book. Let me say she has done a wonderful job. It was truly an honor to read for her. This was an awesome book. I loved the fact that it was a taboo book and also a MMA fighter bad boy book. Crash was totally yummy. I truly don’t think was a part that I did not like about him in this book.
Crash Nolan was an american MMA fighter. He had formerly done his duty in the Marines. He knew what it was like to serve his county. He was given the bad boy image because he was a fighter, loved his women, booze, and bar fights. He never thought he would want to settle down. He never thought he would give up a different woman each night. Funny how if the right one comes along things change.
Harper Kelly was a Doctor doing her first year residence. She was enjoying a vacation with some friends in Brazil. She never dreamed of having a fling with a hot sexy bad boy. Did not help her friends pushed her his way. Only if she knew they were getting ready to be related.
I can only imagine Harper’s thoughts when future stepfather announced he had a long lost son and it was the same guy she had a one night stand with. OMG, I bet she about freaked.
There are some secrets that Harper is keeping. She does not want Crash to find out little long her mom and stepdad. She is worried of the out come. I truly think she handled everything wrongly, but in all fairness she was not thinking straight and she truly had Crash’s best interested in mind.
I did not like Jeremy in this book. I don’t feel he got what was really coming to him. There were a few things he did that were unacceptable. There should of been some stalking charges among other things against him.
When you are reading stepbrother books you see different things when it comes to the parents. I have to say I loved how this one ended. Sorry need to read the book to find out more. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
I was gifted and ARC of Crash: Bad Boy MMA Romance for an honest review.
Wow, there is a lot going on in this book, and I congrats the author for trying to blend everything into a smooth reading story. Solid 4 stars.
Come along for a story that is full of all sorts of things. This is the first I have read of the author Haylee Delane and was pleasantly surprised with all that she tried to fit into this book.
I received an arc copy of this book for an honest review. We have Crash, an MMA fighter and ex military man, hot sexy player who never has more than a one night stand. We also have Harper, a star pupil, entering her residency towards becoming a surgeon, and recently broken up her boring 3 year relationship with her boyfriend Jeremy. Both happen to be in Mexico for different reasons but find themselves at the same hotel one night and smitten with each other. Harper for once goes with her attraction and has a night of steamy passion with the tattooed bad boy. After their one night stand they both return to their own lives, Crash to return to states and find his mother has passed away, and finally finds out who is father is. Harper to return to LA to her residency and to find her mother is getting married to a rich RICH man lol and now we have the step-brother twist, Harpers mum is getting married to Crash's new found father!
I really liked both characters although at times i did get frustrated with both. Harper seemed to deal with a lot of things emotionally and immaturely like a 16yr old, I mean she's a clever woman ! Crash being a fighter and ex military seemed at times to lose his strong personality and be a little too pussy whipped. But on the whole i found it a good read, a little slow at times but it still kept me turning pages. I did find it odd that 1 day after Crash found his father, the conversation was about how much much his father was gonna leave him in his will, but then its fiction right? I loved the chemistry between both characters at times it was sizzling hot !!! Would i recommend this book? Yes, it may have room for improvement but its also the authors story and i really did enjoy it. It's worth a read and i am now looking forward to more
Crash is a veteran who is now a MMA fighter. He takes his fights seriously but has no interest in relationships. One time is it with any woman. He meets Harper at a bar while she is vacationing in Brazil before her residency. She knows what he is about and has only recently ended a long term relationship. She resists a little but then thinks one night might be fun. It has lasting consequences and complications neither expected.
Harper is an interesting woman. She has dedicated her life to being a surgeon and focused on her education.Her three year relationship was not very good but she stayed I suspect because it just didn't matter that much to her. He had planned out their future and that scared her enough to end it. Crash and Harper come back in contact under interesting circumstances at at a very intense time. She has to make some serious decisions about her future and who to involve. It was a little frustrating to see a highly educated woman considering some really poor choices. I would hope she would have more understanding of the consequences of her decisions and not be so quick to want to involve people that she knows could cause problems. Luckily, Crash is committed to making the changes needed to be the man for her and their child. He has a good heart underneath all those muscles. They have great chemistry from the beginning and develop more as they spend time together.
It is a well-written story with interesting characters that keeps your interest. It is narrated by alternating characters which is my favorite as I feel like it gives me a better understanding of the characters.
Crash Nolan: Ex Marine, MMA Fighter, and total player who believes in only one night with any woman.
Harper Kelly: Over achieving good girl, Just finished medical school and is ready to start 1st year residency.
While out celebrating the day after winning the MMA Championship in Brazil, Crash sees Harper and her friends in a bar. Harper and her friends just finished medical school and are there on vacation before having to start their residency. Harper's friends convince she needs a night with Crash, she just ended a relationship back home and what's the chance she will ever see him again...
Back in the States, Harper starts her residency, her mom, Christie, calls to have her come meet her soon to be step dad. Crash is called back to the states to attend to his mother's death. While going thru her possessions, he finds a letter addressed to a man, his long lost dad. With letter in hand, Crash tracks down who his mother stated was his father. His father, Don Porter, is a very wealthy man, who loved his mother and made a mistake years ago, when he chose a different woman to marry, never knew he had a son. Don and Crash go to the hospital so that his soon to be stepdaughter, who is a doctor, can do a DNA test.
What do you do when a person you cannot get out of your mind turns out to be your future stepsibling? How long can secrets stay secrets before everyone knows?
The story line and characters are well developed. The story line draws you in and keeps you to the very end. I could not wait to see how Crash and Harper's story would play out!
This was a great book and well written storyline. Two people who grew up with their mother and find love in a . They meet in Brazil. Crash, is a MMA fighter and Harper, is taking a mini vacation before returning to start her first year residency. She's with friends and he just won the Brazilian MMA championship, an American. This is the last night in Brazil and her friends are encouraging her to hookup while in Brazil, to help get over her breakup with her ex-boyfriend. They meet in a bar. Their eyes meet. He comes over. He buys drinks. They go for a walk on the beach and end up swimming in the ocean. One thing leads to sex, mind blowing sex, unprotected sex. She's on the pill, he's tested clean for the fights. He wakes up on the beach all alone, she's nowhere to be seen. He checks the hotel, the girls checked out that morning. He doesn't know her last name and asks the clerk tells him Harper's last name is Kelly. The characters are from similar backgrounds. Both raised by their mothers, one a household maid, the other a pediatrition. No father figure in either household. Neither has ever married. The story continues and the lives go on. A death and a letter bring the two back together and the twist begins. I liked the story and thought the plot was fresh. There is a major twist that puts thing into a conundrum. I do recommend this book to fans of the author and those who are looking for a good book to read. This book/arc was provided for a honest review.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review (Thank you!)
Crash is the tortured hero and fights for a living, while Harper is the hardworking doctor who’s taking one last vacation before getting started on her residency. She’s the good girl and hasn’t even dared to participate in a one night stand, let alone have one in another country when she’s about to go home. So where is her head when that’s exactly what she does? Crash has the best sex of his life with Harper, but she’s gone when he wakes up. He doesn’t know how he’ll ever find her when he gets back to the states, but he’s sure as h*ll gonna try.
One of the hottest, most lust-inducing bad boy romances I’ve read in a long time! Not your average bad boy, stepbrother romance, but definitely thought provoking and heartwarming. The sex was well written, but there definitely should have been more (wink)! The story moved along at an even pace and kept my interest up at all times. The stepbrother issue always adds a little more drama and stress, but that only ups the romance factor in Crash. I loved the way the hero and heroine each stepped up to the plate to make everything work out. This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to read a Haylee Delane romance and I’m already digging on the web for more (you betcha)! 5 Stars!
So, I think this book was good but I think this writer will continue to grow and will one day be really good. I thought the beginning of the book was a little forced or to “descriptive” in some places…for example: drying my hands on the “scratchy” paper towels…we already assume they are scratchy. Or like when Crash was showering and washing his “close cropped hair” and soaping his “sinewy muscles”….does anyone really think of themselves or their bodies in that way…no. Those are descriptive words Harper would have thought about Crash. I do, however think that one aspect where her description detail was greatly appreciated was during the intimate scenes, which were hot, hot….so, kudos on that. But less than half way through the book the story started to really flow well.
Crash was a little annoying in the beginning as well . He lacked the finesse/charm that some bad boys possess. He just wasn’t smooth and everything seemed short and forced with his character but he grew on me over half way through the book. I liked Harper’s character fairly well, she was a little bit testy at times but other than that her fears and thoughts were valid....I am sure the hormones did not help.
Overall I ended up really liking the book and look forward to reading more books from this author.
Her night out with her friends complicated her life. Harper Kelly was in Brazil vacationing when she met Crash Nolan. She was almost drunk, not thinking and aroused by the sexy hunk of man. Crash was a MMA fighter feeling high after a fight and wanted the woman he felt attracted to. He was feeling empty, tired of his routine with women and booze but Harper was something special that he couldn’t keep out of his mind. But as always, Fate likes to party with the protagonists lives and Harper and Crash found themselves in a complicated situation. Harper and Crash characters keep the hot chemistry from the beginning of the story to the end. The reader had both points of view, Harpers and Clash, so, we got to understand the motivation behind their behaviors. The narrations were interesting with details that added to the story line. There was hot sex, some suspense (because I was expecting something wrong to happen and precipitate the outcome of the story) and many tender and emotional feelings by Harper and Clash. The story was good, not rushed, I could feel the character’s struggle with what was happening around them. I kept reading until the end because got caught up in the story. That means that I liked it a lot.
I enjoy MMA fight stories as well as taboo step brother romance's. When i read the cover for the story it sounded like my sort of book. which it was. I would of gave 4 stars if the story didn't drag in some area's and maybe if their was a bit more drama around Harper's ex Jeremy considing what he did in the story. I enjoyed the characters and how they developed and grown through out the story. Some times it was a bit hard to figure out who's point of view it was but wasn't such a big deal.
Overall the story was a good read, it was written really well and was enjoyable. some parts had me turn pages quickly where as other pages i just wanted to skip. I enjoyed the plot and the story line as it was really good but if their was a few changes it would of been amazing.
Crash character was brillaint described and you really get a feel for who he is and why he is the way he is. Harper's character was also amazing as she was funny and down right on earth. I liked her character as she was selfish and only wanted to protect every one she loved and cared about.
This book was 50/50 with me as it is stuff i liked to read but at the same time their wasn't enough drama or a big blow up which most stories include.
I love reading a good book about an MMA fighter, and Haylee Delane's debut novel didn't disappoint. Ms. Delane takes a plot and weaves a few twists into it to bring it out of the normal realm of today's MMA books.
During a trip to Brazil, young resident doctor Harper meets up with Crash, an MMA fighter who lives by a no-strings attached philosophy. After a hot hookup, both return to the States, expecting to be rid of the other. However, that one-night stand is only the beginning.
Once Harper returns home, she discovers her mother is engaged to a very wealthy man. On the other hand, Crash has received word that his mother has passed away. In a twist of events, Crash learns some unexpected news about his biological father and Harper's involvement in that relationship. As this side of the story unfolds, each character realizes how much the other has affected them.
To avoid spoilers, I will only note that this relationship takes on a new level in every way. Crash is completely swoon-worthy, and Harper is a strong female character. And, when they get together, there is the perfect mix of chemistry.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. For me this was a solid 4 stars. Harper and her girlfriends decided after taking their medical exams they needed a much deserved vacation. So off to Brazil they go where Harper meets Crash at a bar. One night in paradise is what she gives into. The next day she leaves back to the U.S. to start her residency at the hospital. Crash on the other hand can't believe the hottest night of his life with the sexist woman he has ever been with just up and left him. He can't seem to get her out of his system. He doesn't know why. He tries to look for her at the resort but finds out she has already checked out. Chances are he won't ever find her again he returns to the U.S. Twists of fate throw these two together and now they have to figure out what they are gonna do. What does one do when you realize the hottest sex you ever had with a person you thought you would never see again is now going to be your step sibling? You pick up right where you left off of course!
Two great genres pulled together, MMA and Step-brother! What alpha male is hotter than one that can protect you with his bare hands. Add to that this idea that wanting the son of the man your mother wants us taboo and you've got a great story. And now a bit about the story...
Crash Nolan has just won the MMA Championship title in Brazil. Now he just needs to find the right person to celebrate with. Harper Kelly is also in Brazil, celebrating passing her boards... next up residency. Since there is no rest time for young doctors, her and a couple friends take a quick getaway. After one night of passion crash wakes up on the beach alone. Later to discover she has returned to the U.S. and then to discover his mom has passed away. Now his life is scrambled, how is he going to find his Harper....
Favorite passages: - I was either going to have to f*** her and forget her or marry that woman. At that point in time, I really didn't know which one I wanted more. - It was both the most terrifying and exhilarating information I'd ever received.
I was given an ARC copy for an honest review. I'll start by saying MMA Fighting is not usually my choice of a good read. This book may have changed my mind...
The story was well written it's got a great plot to it that flows nice and easy. It's a page turner gotta see what's going to happen next.
The taboo twist was unexpected but fun to see how it played out. The charters are a variety of everything sweet, loving, mean, nasty, fun, frustrating, sexy, flirty, and friendly. It really makes the story work with the different characteristics. It gives great depth to the story and people your reading about.
Awesome book I would highly recommend it to anyone that loves the MMA Fighter books and if your like me and not so much into the fighting try it anyway I found I enjoyed this one. Fighting does take place but it's not as brutal as some of the other's I've read.
The sex is explicit and pantie melting HOT!!! so if your a prude or don't like to read the sex scenes in stories don't bother with this book...Whew....I want my very own Crash
I received an arc for an honest review so here we go. I won't add the summary just my thoughts and maybe a little extra. For a debut book I think this was a great job, I didn't feel I needed to act as editor and other then some unclear POV's the story was written well. The flow was hit or miss at times I was hooked and others I wanted to skip ahead, I guess this could be considered a "taboo step brother romance", though I wouldn't completely agree with that label. After a one night stand the characters are reintroduced as future step siblings, except the parent linking both is the father Crash just meet so there isn't years of history or a "family" connection there. Through out the book Harper is keeping a secret and while I love these particular secrets I feel it could've been outed sooner/differently, thus possibly putting a stop to the other issues that came about involving her crazy ex.
Over all I think the story was really good unfortunately for me I could not connect with the characters specifically Harper, which makes this a 3.5 star for me.
This was an amazing book! The story was beautiful and the flow was just as perfect as the characters! I may have a little bit of a crush for Crash... But who can blame me? He's gorgeous, sexy, tattooed, alpha and has a huge heart filled with love for Harper and only her. Crash and Harper met in Brazil when he was there fighting MMA and she and her friends Ava and Mia were in vacation before their doctor residency began. They shared one night and thought they would never meet again, although they both wanted to find the other. Back into everyday life and Harper has a secret a huge life changing secret and she also has a new step brother Crash... His father (of whom he knew nothing of until the death of his mother) married her mother. Can they get through the family problems? Will they get their HEA together? Or will secrets pull them apart forever? I loved this story and i recommend everyone to read it and i know it will be totally enjoyed in every way! Reviewed by Tracy@LadiesOfLoveBookBlogAndGraphics
Crash and Harper meet for one night in Brazil and their lives change forever. Devastating news brings Crash back to the states to settle the affairs. Even through all the heart ache he can't get his mind off of Harper and their one night together. Alcohol and his fighting become his new best friends for a while then while going through the things in his home he finds a letter that could make or break him. When he finds out the truth and the one woman that he can't get off his mind he's not sure what his heart wants only what his body wants. Harper can't get Crash off her mind since that one night in Brazil but doesn't expect to ever see him again. Then her mom's new fiance walks through the hospital doors where she is doing her residency with him and she finds herself going on an emotional roller coast especially with the secret she is keeping. Things get even hotter through out this story and more emotions flow. Haylee Delane put a lot of feeling and love into this story and kept me wanting more.
Crash, aka Andrew, big bad boy, ex marine, now mma champ in brazil, gets what he wants after every win, bottle of liquor and a woman or two, meets Harper, just finished med school, top of her class, who takes a much needed vaca before her residency begins in brazil. Crash meets her at a bar and wants her. She eventually gives into his advances and they have a hot n heavy romp at the beach that night.
He wakes up on beach next morning and she's gone. He goes back to hotel and her n her friends left. He cant get her off his mind, he's smitten with her, but afraid he'll never find her again. He gets notice his mom passed away n goes back to america, cleans out his moms house n finds an old letter she never sent, it was to the father he never knew, which really thickens things. So many surprises unfolding in this book!! Its a multicultural stepbrother romance, Crash is white , Harper is dark skinned. This was an overall hot, and romantic story with a beautiful HEA !!
