Relics of Camelot

This is the third book in an urban fantasy Camelot retelling where the last battle between the knights of the round table and Mordrid hasnt happened yet. The Destined One must reunite the knights and reclaim the lost relics of Camelot in order to defeat Mordrid once and for all. In this installement we get to explore more of Camelots past. We follow the same characters but at a different time in their lives. We get a few scenes in the present time but not enough in my opinion.
To be honest I felt like a good chunk of this book dragged on. There was a lot of details and uneventful scenes that didnt seem that important. I was in that kind of mood where I just didnt care how many ribbons her dress had. I know why the author repeated a lot of info we learned in the first two books but it was really boring reading through those first couple chapters. I read the other two books back to back and remembered everything so it felt very redundant for me.
I had to reread a lot of scenes several times because I just couldnt focus. I think it could have been edited down a bit to make it flow better. Its not that there wasnt any action because there was, its just the inbetween parts felt longer than they really were. I noticed a couple errors and a scene where the author wrote Merlins name when I know she meant Mordrids and Morgana hiding spot. I also didnt understand why Aliana didnt understand the gypsie song if she cast a spell to be able to understand different languages.
I missed the characters from the first two books, especially the main character best friends Dawn and Lacy. I loved the whole underworld scene and when Aliana finally meets up with her best friends to kick butt. I enjoyed learning more about Camelot and the knights past. We get some heart warming reunions that totally made me gush. Dagg was still one of my favorite characters. I loved meeting Vira and Arthurs mother. The last half of the story was a lot better and I managed to read it quicker.
The first half felt like 2.5 Star while the last half was more of a 4 Star so I ended up rating this 3 Stars but it could easily have been a 3.5 Star book if I had been in a better reading mood. Looking back on it now Id probably give it a 3.5 Star rating. I was sick with gallstones and in the hospital emergency waiting room while reading this so maybe that effected my enjoyement. I was already irratable and had a hard time concentrating.
I hope I get a chance to review the fourth book as Im already really invested in the story and the characters. Urban fantasy hasnt really been my thing lately and I really appreciated how this series doesnt feel like your typical urban fantasy. Ive never read a Camelot retelling but I found it rather entertaining making comparisons to what I already know of King Arthur and the season of Once Upon a Time that Im currently watching.

I just had to get this one as soon as it became available and once I did finished it in under 2 days! I couldn't put it down :)
I loved getting to see all the Knights and King Arthur back before they were cursed and how they interacted with each other and a total stranger (which Aliana was to them). I LOVED the new characters: Guinevere, Queen Igraine (Arthur's mother!), Sophvira (Galahad's sister) and Delphina! I couldn't believe her whole revelation!
I think Morgana was my favorite character to see. Her story, how she became the way she is in the first 2 books was amazing to see unfold. And her love with Merlin.....swoon.
Then of course we learned about Galahad's past, his family tragedy and how he came to Camelot. We also got to learn more of Arthur's story and his family lineage. It was wonderful how so many little things from the first 2 books were wonderfully weaved in to this tale and how much has been set up for the next book.
To say there was a ton of revelation bombs would be an understatement! And there's were several scenes that had my emotions soaring, good and bad.
Finally, the romance......OMG talk about hot Hot HOTT! Wow, I can't honestly say who I'm hoping for Aliana to end up with now. But I think the decision she made at the end was the best she could have made.
Now I need to have the next book ASAP! I just have to see what happens next :D

I've enjoyed this series and give this third book a solid four out of five stars.
This book felt longer than the first two and that gave time for the character arc to feel more natural.
Aliana finally becomes worthy of her title in this book. I'm still annoyed by the strange love triangle (if you've read my other reviews, you know I'm not a fan), but there are hints now that there's a magical reason.
Some of the secrets were uncovered. As with the other books, the epilogue sets up the next book. It looks like more conflict will find the knights and their girls in the next book - and it might not finish out the series.
This is the first book I've actually read the quotes at the beginning of the chapters. I think I should go back and re-read the ones in the other books. They definitely give insight into what the other characters are doing while we follow Aliana on her time travel and realm hopping adventure.
A few happy resurrections in this book. I'm still trying to decide if they're too convenient. I think that I'm too pleased with them to really care if they are a trite contrived.
I've been a hit-and-miss Arthurian legend fan. This series has enough of other types of magic to offset my lack of passion for that trope.
Definitely a series for historical fantasy and contemporary fantasy fans alike. Like romance? You'll get that here too. Along with enough nasty villains to make anyone who likes the battle scenes happy.

I've had such mixed feelings with these books! I love the idea of this story. I love what the author is trying to do, and I really do love elements of this series. I like Aliana as a character and I feel like she's growing in each book, which is definitely a good thing. But I'm still not really invested in this love triangle and I still find these books to be rather slow reading. I want to be in love with these books, but there's just a gap for me between my love for the story line and my ambivalence for the actual way that things are playing out. I still recommend it if you enjoy historical fiction or Arthurian legend. It's a really fun concept!

I am absolutely loving this series!! More secrets are revealed, enemies show themselves, plot twist after plot twist, time travel, a love triangle, motives questioned and magic!! What more could you want??

I’m a sucker for fairy tale retellings. One of my favorites right now is Throne of Glass (which is loosely based on Cinderella for those who don’t know, which is probably no one. Apparently I’m the only person who has been living under a rock the past few years, but moving on.) So when I was given the opportunity to read L.H. Nicole’s Legendary Saga I didn’t hesitate. I’ve never read a retelling of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. I have seen the movie with Clive Owen, however, and couldn’t stop picturing him (and hearing that accent) as I read the book (cuz, yum), but I digress.
If you’ve read any of my reviews, you already know what my next sentence will be. I’m not going to give you a breakdown of the series. Read it. That’s what the author intended you to do when she wrote it. What I will do is tell you WHY I think you should read it (and I do think you should).
First, it’s a unique story. Like I’ve mentioned, it’s the first I’ve read of its kind. I’m not going to go so far as to say it’s the only retelling of King Arthur’s legend because I’m quite certain there are others, but the market isn’t flooded with them, and certainly not for young/new adults. So that in itself makes the Legendary Saga unique.
But an author can think up a unique story and still produce a crap book, right? Yes, it happens. Thankfully, in this case, that isn’t so. I will admit that the pacing started out quite slow for me and I had to push myself to keep going, but after a few chapters, I was flying through the pages, totally immersed in Aliana’s world. Adventure abounds and there is something for every fantasy lover, from pixies, magic, evil queens, a little mystery, and a touch of romance. Although, fair warning, there is a love triangle in the beginning. I know, I know, I wasn’t a fan of it either. But it isn’t enough of a reason not to read the series, trust me.
The characters are developed well. Aliana is a strong heroine with many obstacles in her path as she navigates her quest, but she does so with spunk, humor, and determination. She has flaws, but tries to do the right thing, as she understands it and is a good role model for young girls and a character readers will want to root for. Secondary characters shined. I loved that they were given so much attention. So often, secondary characters are just… there. Used as props or background noise. But that wasn’t so in these stories. I really enjoyed the knights and their interactions with each other.
Mechanics were good. I found the descriptions a little long and tiresome and skimmed them at some points. Otherwise, the author’s writing style was easy to read and enjoyable.
I recommend the Legendary Saga to anyone who likes fairy tale retellings or King Arthur era stories. It’s a well thought out series, with unique plot lines and well-developed characters.

Aliana has been missing for two weeks. The knights finally discover that Queen Titania sent her to the past and to Camelot. So Aliana is in Camelot with her knights, but they do not know her. She has to search out the way to find the Holy Grail and how to get home. The knights, left behind, devise a plan to find Aliana and continue on their quest. They split up, some going to Avalon, some to the Isle of the Blessed. Since Merlin and Lancelot are still banished from those realms, they will seek out Olympus and any further information on the grail.
This story fills in depth to the characters by showing us their past. I enjoyed Morgana’s story especially. Learning more about who the knights were before the spell that froze them was interesting. I still wasn’t thrilled with Aliana’s inability to chose between the men who loved her. Though I do feel as though Aliana is growing as a character, she is still young and entitled with a tendency to play the victim.
My rating: 4/5 stars.

The third book is Relics of Camelot and it doesn’t get any better. Aliana is still the most perfect person in the world, despite her victim complex and how stupid she is, LaDawn are still annoying, and King Arthur and the Knights are still worshiping at Aliana’s feet.
