Liz Michaels is spending the Christmas holiday with her recently engaged daughter. Christopher Harrison is spending the holiday with his recently engaged son. Liz and Christopher have one objective - to get their kids to slow down and re-think their engagement. When their week of planning and scheming is derailed by a chance meeting under the mistletoe, runaway romance takes on a whole new meaning ... A romantic novella, set on the coast of Maine, this story follows Clairmont Series novel, Done With Men Forever.
S. Jane (Susie) Scheyder was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, and grew up in the Midwest. She graduated from Valparaiso University with a B.A. in Music Merchandising, though writing has always been her favorite artistic outlet. Her first book, "The Other Side of the Pulpit" was published in 2006. "Cafenova," her first novel, and the first of her Clairmont series, was released in 2010. She and her son Jacob collaborated on "One More Thing," a children's bedtime story, released in the summer of 2013. Susie returned to Clairmont in the novella, "You Smiled," (January 2014) and Becky's story, "Done with Men Forever," the second full novel in the Clairmont series, was released on November 1, 2014. She and her husband and five children live in southeastern Connecticut.
This is one of those books I got and saved for Christmas reading. As expected, it was a nice, heartwarming read, eliciting a few girlish giggles on my part. It really helped me relax after a rough day while getting me into a more festive mood for the holidays. Short, sweet, and nicely whimsical.
I am a big weirdo who apparently started in the middle of a series rather than the beginning. That kind of spoils the endings of the earlier books, but, honestly? I enjoyed the reading and characters enough that I hope to go back and start the series from the beginning. I'm not someone who reads just for the ending--I like the experience and seeing how things piece together. I really enjoyed this nice, chaste romance, and you can tell that the author has put a lot of work and thought into the community and personalities involved.
I can happily recommend this for light romance reading!
Mistletoe A Clairmont Novella by S. Jane Scheyder Liked the story line, set off the coast of Maine and each of the kids adult parents Liz and Christopher are trying to make them slow down-they had just gotten engaged. The parents can't understand why the rush, Cam needs to finish his law degree as Kelly works at the coffee shop. The mistletoe gets to them, she can't get enough of Christopher's kisses and keeps going back for more. Love hiking and other winter activities and descriptions along the way. Like hearing both sides of the same things happening. The parents may get what they want.... great story, enjoyed. Excerpt from another in the series is included at the end.
This was a great love story. Liz is trying to get her recently engaged daughter to slow down, stop and think. Christopher is doing the same with his son who is engaged to Liz's daughter. It Christmastime, a B&B, snow and Liz and Christopher are falling in love. The story continues from their first kiss and they are still trying to keep it together so their kids don't see it.
It was a warm, apple pie kind of Christmas love story. Enjoy it for what it is.
I enjoy a good, romantic story. This is most definitely a good, romantic story. Plus, it is set at Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year. I really enjoyed the well written characters, they were interesting, and felt real. This can let you escape for a while.
