The book is collection of ten papers written by eminent scholars of philosophy. One can get idea of Indian philosopical system consisting of Vedanta, Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Samkhya, Charvaka etc.

Difference between Indian and Western philosophy is clearly described such as "Western philosophy owes its origin to wonder, whereas all Indian philosophical systems emphasize the need to remove permanently all causes of suffering." So, it is not life negating as describe by many Western philosophers.

The paper on 'Navya Nyaya' is difficult to understand, however most of chapters are quite interesting. Last paper 'Indian philosophical systems: their basi unity and relevance today' is most appropriate in terms of modern era. It addresses applicable aspect of Indian philosophy.
