An epic love story of imperfect romance.

Mika rents a quaint cottage on a seaside estate. Perched on the cliff, her mysterious landlord lives alone in a stately glass house, although his home is transparent, there’s no penetrating the blue abyss of Cain’s eyes or the coldness of the striking man who disappears for days at a time.

Women are Cain’s business. The fantasy he sells has made him a wealthy but empty man. Within a short time, he’s lured by Mika’s beguiling spirit. When life cracks its whip at her, he’s there to catch her. Discovering her secret, he teaches her passion, but it’s her love he desires, not her flesh. To keep her, he’ll have to confess his past sins and convince her that beauty is more than skin deep.

Natasza Waters is one of my favourite authors. I absolutely love her Code Name series & re-read them whenever I can. When I heard she was writing another book I was super excited. I had every faith that Natasza wouldn't disappoint me. This story blew my expectations out of the water.

I loved every word of this book. I'm not the type that cries while reading lots of books. However the tears rolled down my face during this read. I felt the characters emotions and I loved how the author portrayed them as real people.

The storyline is epic. No I'm not giving anything away about the storyline. I feel you gotta just jump in and feel this story.

Mika and Cain are the main characters. I absolutely loved them both. Cain is my new book boyfriend. Yes he's mine.

The author added this to the end of her book description...

5 Tear Jerker Stars

This is my first book by Natasza Waters and I'm sure I went through a few boxes of tissues while reading it. "His Perfect Imperfection" is a beautiful, profound and moving love story that is dedicated to the millions of people who are unique, not flawed, by Psoriasis and other skin diseases. The author did a wonderful job of handling this sensitive subject. I was able to connect to Mika and Cain as well as feel their emotions. The story was simple and engaging and the writing kept me interested throughout the book.

The book is about two damaged people, Mika and Cain. Mika feels she is damaged on the outside while Cain feels damaged on the inside. They meet by chance when Mika rents a cottage from Cain who owns a multi million dollar estate on Vancouver Island.

Cain is almost instantly attracted to Mika who hides behind baggy clothes to cover her scars and keep her secret. Mika is beautiful, witty and full of life.

"Her dark curls bounced like black coils of silk under the brilliant lights. Desire pulled at him, and it wanted him to smash through the darkness he’d walled himself behind."

Mika sees Cain as a handsome mysterious single man. Cain hides behind his past and what he does in the present, keeping his life a secret from Mika.

As Cain and Mika get to know each other their mutual attraction keeps growing. Eventually they reveal to each other the secrets they have been hiding and their relationship grows more intimate. Even though revealed, their past secrets keep getting in the way of their relationship forcing Mika and Cain to both learn how to overcome their past.

"I fell in love with a real woman. Your body is a vessel, but your soul is the essence of who you are. What shines through your eyes is
what I see.”

Overall this is a beautiful and mesmerizing story and I highly recommend it. Well done!!

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review

4 STARS!

Whoo! I Love, Love, Love, lovelovelovelove a disabled or disfigured protagonist. I can't even tell you how much these stories knock my socks off. I love the twisting in my gut when one character wants and needs love so badly but can't seem to believe they're worthy of someone seeing beyond their looks or disability. Love when the "beautiful" or "perfect" character would walk through fire to show them they are beautiful and loved. GAH!

So when I found this and discovered that the heroine was suffering from psoriasis and that the hero was a high-priced escort and her landlord, I did a happy dance (refer now to the GIF above).

I appreciated that this was different. My grandpa had psoriasis that was pretty severe so I could definitely understand the pain and inconvenience caused from it and also see how a young, beautiful woman would have her self-esteem and hopes for romance dashed when living with this disease. Add to this that the hero was an escort/prostitute with daddy issues and let me tell you, this was full of feels.

As much as I felt for Mika and her situation, I was really touched by the way Cain's life was altered when she came into his life. He was deeply unhappy and basically isolated; wounded by the lifelong shabby treatment by his father and immersed in a career that was chipping away at his soul. Along with Mika came a horde of great friends, fun times and companionship. Not to downplay Mika's loneliness, but I really loved that Cain's life was so enriched. It was sweet.

Another thing that I appreciated about this was that Mika and Cain became friends, very good friends and we got to see that happening. We got to believe it. So many books nowadays are relying on insta-love for the sake of...I don't know, brevity? Laziness? Whatever the reason, I tend to prefer well-drawn characters and a believable love. This definitely delivered on both counts.

So why not a perfect score? There were a few things that I didn't love, a few cliched things that annoyed me.--I know, I know romance and cliche almost always go together but I had my hopes on this book being unique and not going down the road-most-traveled.

Cliche: The hero is extremely wealthy. He gives her very expensive gifts, *eyeroll*

AUTHORS! Hear this now: We don't have to have a jet-setting, Jag-driving hero who buys clothes, jewelry, automobiles and houses for the heroine in order to enjoy your book. I get that it's fantasy. I do, but not every hero has to do all of the things that make up our every fantasy.

And, of course, true to character, I have found defect with the heroine (Shocking, I know). Once the heroine finds out that the hero is/was an escort, she takes to nicknaming him Hooker Boy. A lot. It seemed cruel, callous and she said it so much that I was beyond annoyed. I was really hoping he'd call her Scabby Patty or Itchy Izzy because I was getting riled on his behalf. But it was just her signature ribbing and he took it good-naturedly. Which also pissed me off.

There's a little joke about Cain's brother's gf having only one brain cell and this conversation comes up later when one of Cain's old girlfriend's makes an appearance:
"Old girlfriend, huh?"
"Why weren't you born with one brain cell?" he muttered, leading the way.
"I wouldn't have come up with Hooker Boy, if I had."
"Very Funny."

Yeah, because it takes a real genius to come up with Hooker Boy

At 80% through when she and her friends convinced him to do a strip-show for them, I nearly lost my shit. Cain, you want to buy her expensive gifts. Fine. I can roll. You feel you gotta strip for her and her pushy friends... I got a problem. If only I could virtually cut a bitch. But, here we are, again, with me getting annoyed for the hero when he's smiling and not at all upset. I really am crazy.

Lastly, there were a few editing issues--not many--this was very well written. But this one stuck out to me and had me cracking up:
"See ya, handsome," Dinky said, and they fisted each other.
Uh...
I think she means Fist Bump

Not... uh... fisting

(No, no Captain Kirk, you need to relax and breathe through it. Don't tense up.)
LOL, okay, okay, now I'm being silly. Fisting is fine, I getcha.

Anyway, I really liked this book. If anyone is wondering about the sex level, there's a couple of explicit scenes. And while they have some description, they really don't feel steamy or particularly erotic.

From the moment I first heard about Natasza Waters writing and sharing a book about this particular subject…. I knew something special was going to be given to me. However, I didn’t realize just how special it was till one moment near the end, where something I knew in my head sunk deeper into my heart…. it’s kinda the opposite of the golden rule: If I accept others for who they are beyond skin deep, why can’t I believe and trust others to accept me?

His Perfect Imperfection is a beautiful, profound story that captured my heart from the first words in the dedication to the last words of the epilogue. I was enthralled by Mika (love that name btw!) and Cain’s journey from meeting to falling in love, from enjoying each other’s presence to digging deep and discovering the depths of each other’s souls. Cain’s determination to not give up on Mika and show her the woman she really is and Mika’s love, bravery, acceptance, and affection towards others endeared them both close to my heart.

Natasza wrote a novel that touches on things not usually seen in romance books and just that alone is refreshing and challenging. This story just continues to make a reader realize that they aren’t alone in whatever they’re struggling with, and that they are loved and beautiful, no matter what the outside world may choose to think. This is a book you do not want to miss!

Thank you, Natasza, for being brave and sharing this touching and beautiful story. It is on my favorites shelf and will be revisited often!

Cocktails and Books Review

I first want to say wow, it has been a while since a book not only blew me away but I couldn’t predict the twist and turns and His Perfect Imperfection did both and then some....This is the first book I have read of Natasza Waters and her writing style is fantastic. The way she handles the dual POV’s (which I know I have said in my other reviews, I absolutely love), the dialog between the 2 main characters – Mika’s wit and Cain’s charm and the way she lets the story develop, not rushing the big love scene was all done brilliantly..... I felt like I was living the story through Cain and Mika’s eyes so when something happened it really did surprise me and that is rare again a testament to great writing.

Thank you Felicia

When you start this book make sure you have about 8hrs time on your hands because this like all of Ms. Waters' books is a read-in-one-sitting-book that has you running for the nearest handkerchief but also howling with laughter.

I loved in this particular story that the topic wasn't something the general romance author population keeps rehashing ad nauseam. Yes, the heroine has her severe insecurities. But unfortunately since the stream of stupid idiots who can't keep their rude and hurtful comments unsaid won't cease, she is darn well entitled to have them!

In the end Ms. Waters tops her masterpiece of with a piece of wisdom that should be tatooed on said idiots' foreheads (sorry after an incident with their kind where I was on the receiving end of their dimwitted remarks - not 'P' mind you but something similar - my patience with them is running a bit on the thin side of the ice):

Love is more than skin deep. It has nothing to do with flesh and everything to do with what the heart desires.

I will keep this treasure of a book on my favourites shelf because it is just that: a treasure! One doesn't find this kind very often and I hope and pray more authors will take a page from Ms. Waters book. The world is in desperate need of more stories like hers are!

All I can say is go get this book and read it. Wow, the power of love, knows no boundaries. Very few books and I mean, very few, have moved me the way this one did. It’s a must read for EVERYONE, man or woman.
We’ve all been shunned for something at one time or another, whether it was our own doing or the hands of fate. We are all beautiful in our own way. Beauty lies within all Of us, although the world sees beauty through rose colored glasses 90% of the time, unfortunately.
Cain and Mika’s love story is so powerful, you will never again take a person’s soul, personality, or inter-beauty for granted.
Just grab this one and be prepared to be amazed. Natasza Waters And His Perfect Imperfection has just changed me forever.
One amazingly written book that should be shared with everyone.

Oh my gosh! What a great book. Wasn't sure what to expect, but I've always loved Natasza Water books. This story didn't disappoint. From the lovable characters who draw you in, to the heart wrenching predicaments the heroine finds herself in. Many of us can put ourselves in her shoes and feel what she feels. Well done, Ms. Waters!!

What a beautiful, heartwarming story, far from being a cliché! His Perfect Imperfection is a retelling of the Beauty and the Beast but here it's the heroine who considers herself the monster because of her skin condition. Her struggle is realistic and believable. The book was written from the heart and you can feel it on every page.

When one suffers from an autoimmune disease it is easy to slip into a feeling of isolation. I speak from experience. In this male-escort-with-a-heart-of-gold story, 30 yr old Mika (Meeka) suffers from an AI that causes unsightly skin lesions and convinced nobody would ever find her desirable -- although she is in remission when the story starts. Cain Sallas needs a tenant for his cottage on his estate so his beloved German Shepherd,  Breeze, can be taken care of while he travels.  Mika answers the ad & ends up bringing a ray of hope into Cain's lonely world.

I thoroughly enjoyed following Cain win Mika's trust, friendship, & eventually love. This is more than a love story, for it also is a story of redemption  & acceptance. Cain has "entertained" powerful,  glamorous women but Mika steals his heart & changes him and gives him a new lease on life. She accepts his friendship even after learning of his profession  (the world's oldest, she teases) but can he convince her he'll be there for her once she goes through another flare? Will she trust his love and desire for her when he's been with so many physically perfect women?

“I’ve looked in your eyes at least a thousand times, and every time I’ve kissed you with my gaze.” “Making love isn’t a sprint, it’s a dance…and I’ve been waiting all my life to dance with you.”

“His Perfect Imperfection” is one of the best romance stories I’ve read! Mika’s internal battle with a disease that makes her feel unworthy of love and Cain’s emotional coldness brought on by an age old profession, weaves a tale of how perception is not always reality. This friends to lovers romance is one that shows if you truly love someone, you love all of them. Their fight becomes your fight and those imperfections are what makes them unique.

I’ll never be able to write a review to do this book justice. READ IT! This beautifully written romance by Natasza Waters is a 5 Star plus read! I absolutely loved it! Highly recommend!

Mika finds a quaint little cottage to rent on a multi-million dollar piece of property, but she wasn't expecting the drop dead gorgeous landlord that came with the place.

Cain is a loner. He's learned to close off his emotions and runs a successful business as a male escort. He thinks he knows all there is to know about women, but Mika has a secret he aches to solve.

How can two so different people, one carrying scars she cannot hide and the other with scars buried deep in his soul, heal one another?

This story is so much more than your average opposites attract romance. It's about overcoming life's adversities and finding strength in the arms of the right person.

A soulmate.

I was born with eczema and spent most of my childhood in pain-filled misery, but that's nothing compared to the suffering people with Psoriasis have to endure. Natasza confronts the mental and physical toll this disease takes on her heroine's emotional journey. Love is in the eye of the beholder and Cain's devotion to Mika is what a truly great romance is all about!

I give His Perfect Imperfection 5+ lovely kisses- A Must Read!

"His Perfect Imperfection" was one of the most courageously written romance novels I've ever read. I gave it 4 Stars, but in reality, for me, it's really a 4.5 Star book. There were a couple of things that went to the heart of the story that prevented me from giving it a full 5 Stars, more about that later. First, I want to say, without giving spoilers, the topic and/or challenge the author gave to the heroine was very, very tough to write about in a comprehensive and uplifting way. For even taking on this topic, the author scores very high points in my estimation. I have a best friend who has the same issue as the heroine, so I believe I know some parts of the challenges facing the heroine and her heroic efforts to cope. I also enjoyed the unfolding of the story and the richness of the encounters between the hero and heroine, no rushed romance this. I was impressed by the author's ability to draw me in and keep me interested through many plot twists and turns.
As for the hero, I actually embraced his journey, even more fully than the heroine's, which is saying something, given their issues. He really grew as a character for me, facing down his past, changing his ways, and becoming a full-fledged heroic figure that most readers would fall in love with.
As mentioned, I did have a couple of issues that went to the heart of the story. Without doing a spoiler, suffice it to say, the heroine dealt with issues about her appearance. Whereas, the hero was drop-dead gorgeous and hunky and every woman who crossed his path wanted him. Therefore, when he put aside his shallow attributes and embraced his heroic character traits, I wished the heroine would have given him more credit for his character changes and what a wonderful man he became in the book. There was some brief mentions, particularly when he helped her mother, about his kindness and generosity, etc. However, the majority of the book was focused on how she continued to drool over how hot and gorgeous he was, although, the main theme of the book was: "beauty is only skin deep." For me, that was a disconnect in the heroine's character.
The second thing that bothered me, was, although, the heroine got hurt and wounded by other people judging her on something she had no control over, she tended to do the same thing with regard to other people. I fully and completely sympathized with her when she said: "People can be cruel." And I agree with the heroine, it's terrible to make fun of people with conditions they have no control over. However, she and her friends did just that to secondary characters, made fun of them because they were "brainless" bimbos or a "man-whore." Okay, the second one, maybe the person should change, but their sniping about dumb blondes left me cold. Because if someone is born with limited intelligence; again, as in the heroine's case, they can't help their given IQ, and they, like the heroine, shouldn't be made fun of. "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you," should have applied here.
That being said, overall, the book was an awesome read with real-life, fleshed out characters who had serious conflicts and issues to overcome to reach their HEA. Kudos to Ms. Waters for writing such a captivating and courageous book.

I am a big Natasza Waters fan. I discovered her Warrior’s Challenge books by accident through a romantic suspense forum, and I have yet to find one that I did not like. I have since joined her newsletter so that I will not miss the release of any of her books. Therefore, when this book, His Perfect Imperfection, came out, I bought it immediately
I have had it on my Kindle for several months before I finally made the decision to read it.

At first I was hesitant because this book is not a romantic suspense like this author’s other books. However, the synopsis of the story fascinated me because there were a lot of comments that sounded very mysterious. For example, Mika has a mysterious disease that is in remission at the moment. Unfortunately this disease makes her feel like a monster and keeps her from dating or going out with anyone. She has wonderful friends that she has known all of her life (they know about her disease and accept it), but she refuses to discuss her disease or let anyone see her without baggy clothes. In fact, we don’t find out anything about her disease until much later in the book.

Cain, the hero, is also very mysterious. “Women are Cain’s business. The fantasy he sells has made him a wealthy but empty man.” Cain is not your typical romance hero. But I see him as a hero because he is loving and caring toward Miko and refuses to judge her based on her reactions.

These two “scarred” people become wonderful friends who are able to help each other cope with their lack of self-esteem and their loneliness. Eventually they fall in love with each other. However this love comes with a lot of angst, a lot of work and a lot of help from each other. It is not an easy relationship.

This book is not a romantic suspense, but it is an absolutely fantastic read. The author’s style enables us to feel everything each character experiences as if we were right there with them. She also describes each character in a realistic way, including their strengths and weaknesses, bad characteristics as well as the good characteristics I absolutely could not put this book down until it was finished.

I do have one small warning. The prologue talks about Abel and Cain as they appear in the Bible. My first thought when I saw that was that I was reading a deeply inspirational and/or religious book. I was a little concerned when I read the prologue that I had misunderstood the genre of the book. However, I was wrong. The only reason the author mentions these characters from the Bible is because the hero’s name is Cain, and his brother’s name is Abel.

The end of the prologue talks about Cain’s lot in life and how he must work to do what is right in this world. This is a wonderful reminder of the Bible story and allows me to make comparisons with the characters in the story. This is not a religious book; it is an uplifting book about how important it is not to judge people by superficial factors. We need to look inside a person before we decide on how we view them and react to them.

~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
As I began reading, I became intrigued by the simplicity and sweetness of "boy meets girl". It was so beguiling, I literally could not put it down until I finished. Lost a whole nights sleep but it was so worth it! Two fabulous characters, beautiful, strong and so damaged. Cain is handsome, wealthy and sought after by many rich & powerful women. On the inside, he lives in a dark, cold prison, alone and unworthy of love. He chooses a profession that only freezes his heart and damages his soul. Mika's damage is on the outside, her skin ravaged by a skin disorder that convinces her there is no love in her future. So she refuses to let any man get close to her. Their lives are brought together by a simple renter/landlord action. And that is where the entertainment of this story begins. Watching them evolve from darkness to light was mesmerizing, sometimes laughing, sometimes holding a breath, sometimes shedding tears. When they work through a lot of their issues, then their hidden demons rise up and past choices come forward to topple all the progress they had made. The writing was so exceptional I felt I was right along with them on their passionate, emotional journey. Loved this story! Highly recommend it!
This book had to be one of my favorites. I like how the author visited the theme of flaws in this book. I also like the way that she took that theme and made the flaws in the positives. I like romance with suspense and dark twists. This romance was a combination of sweet intense and suspenseful story telling.
Natasza Waters has written a beautiful story that shows beauty is more than skin deep.
Cain Sallas has made a living that lets him travel the world and be with some of the most beautiful women. He made a fortune but the one thing he gave up for all this is happiness.
Mika is a beautiful woman who keeps a carefully guarded secret. She's the fun one in her group of friends but still finds herself lonely.
All this changes the day Mika rents a cottage on Cain's estate. Cain finds himself staying home more and waiting for Mika to return home at the end of her day and he notices that he is smiling and laughing more. He also decides to make a big career change. He just wishes Mika would warm up to him and tell her secret that all her friends seem to know but she evades him.
Will Cain be able to get Mika to open up to him and see that he has fallen for her or will Mika keep running?
What a deliciously scrumptious story! Every day of her life, Mika wages war with a disease that leaves scars on her battered body, as well as her mind. As a result, she keeps herself closed off to anything other than friendship with men. Her new landlord sees something in her that makes him want more than friendship.
Cain Sallas has the body and face of a Greek god. Although he's beautiful physically, he's hiding his own ugliness . . . in his way of life, his soul, that leaves him with his own scars.
This uniquely told story had me chuckling, laughing out loud, sniffling, sobbing, panting, and finally smiling with immense satisfaction. We all have flaws. We all have imperfections....or most of us, anyway. This story is about two people, perfectly flawed in their own ways, who manage to look past the physical and spiritual imperfections to find the beauty within. Beautiful read! Pick it up...you won't regret it...guaranteed. Ms. Waters' finest work, yet, in my honest opinion.
A truly beautiful story where two beings learn to love and most of all, to be loved.
This book really affected me fro multiple reasons. Having just move to Vancouver, it made me want to explore Vancouver Island and Victoria even more. But also, having a younger brother who has had psoriasis since his birth, I know how hard and discriminating people can be, even to a child. It made Cain and Mika all the more beautiful and touching.
I didn't give this book a 5 stars because, unlike Ms Waters's other book, His Perfect Imperfection lacked some suspense to add some spices to the mix. But appart from that, this book is a MUST read for sure!!
I edited this book and I have to tell it is amazing! Mika and Caine will break your heart and put it back together again.
A more unlikely couple you will never meet, but the chemistry between these two is undeniable from the start.
Both have secrets, both are scared, and scarred, but in different ways.
His Perfect Imperfection is an heart-felt emotional journey that you don't want to miss.
I laughed, I cried (a lot) and I sighed. I love romance that makes you sigh!
I highly recommend this fabulous book!
My Perfect Imperfection is very different to the last Natasza Waters novel I read. There are no Navy Seals! This said, she is still doing what she does best and creating brilliant characters that readers can really engage with. This time she created a female lead who has suffered from Psoriasis which introduces a new dimension I haven’t seen in a romance novel before. The subject is handle really well and actually makes for a sweet and endearing novel that also gets you thinking about the biases we sometimes have. It was easy to give this 5 stars.
I'd give this 10 stars if I could. This book is PERFECT!!!! I love everything about it: the easy camaraderie between Cain and Mika, the light flirtation between them that always manages to give me the tingles, the passion and deep love they have towards each other. Love, family, friendship and romance play a very big part in the book and they're all interwoven to give one perfect story, Cain's and Mika's story. Did I mention that I LOVE this book?
PERFECT to the end! From page one I fell in love with the imperfect characters. Mika’s humor and direct speak is a very refreshing read. No victims in this book! Her struggle with disease elicits empathy, not pity. The friendship between Mika and Cain evolves naturally and the progression to love is fun! If you need to laugh, cry, and simmer inside a love scene…you will LOVE this book. Three Cheers for a sequel!
Beauty is only skin deep and Natasza Waters does a brilliant job reminding us of this in His Perfect Imperfection. A big thumbs up for tackling this subject with such a tender and insightful touch. The story was great, the characters really spring to life and at the end of the book you are left with something to think about.
What a deeply awe inspiring this book His Perfect Imperfection is and the title is spot on. Mika is determined to never get involved with a man because of a very life altering health issue she has that she believes any man in his right mind wouldn't stick around for. I can't imagine spending my life hiding in order to not get my heart broken and to avoid the cruelty of the human race. We've all been in Mika's shoes in one way or the other being shunned by others for what others view as beautiful, too fat, or too thin, etc., etc.
Cain is a drop dead gorgeous man that life has also been hard on. He may be close to perfect on the outside and beyond rich but he's broken on the inside. After all, money doesn't buy happiness and Cain is a very unhappy man, a man with a very unorthodox occupation. An occupation that he believes makes him unworthy of finding true love.
Cain puts up an ad to rent out the cottage on his property. Mika answers the ad and when she shows up to see the cottage she falls in love with it and having a hot landlord even though he doesn't have the best personality will do too. Cain finds himself drawn to Mika in a way he's never been drawn to a woman before.
This is a must read book and stands to teach everyone what true love should be all about. I feel in love with Mika and Cain!
My apologies to Ms. Waters as she was kind enough to give me the honor of beta reading "His Perfect Imperfection" and I was remiss in my duties of writing her a review. I knew that she had edited numerous parts, so I went back and read it for a second time. I NEVER read books twice, however, after reading this a second time, it has solidified my opinion of what an astounding author Ms. Waters is. I have read every word that she has put out so far, and will continue to do so, because you won't find a more thrilling or exciting author. I ADORE this woman's writing. Her writing sucks you in with the emotion and depth of her characters, and you feel every little thing they are going through. Sometimes that's not an easy thing, but that is just proof of the talent Ms. Waters holds, the ability to bring forth every emotion felt, by every character in her stories.
If you have never read any of her work, do yourself a favor and read this book, you won't be sorry!!!
