Marks is a compilation of poetry I have written over the past seventeen years. Each poem tells a story and each story captures a moment of my life in which I have felt something so intensely about a person, an experience, or about myself, I was inspired to document it.
Every poem in this book holds in it a piece of me, and of my encounters with love, loss, pain, and desire. Any time an individual, an event, or an overwhelming emotion has left a mark on me, I have written about it in the form of poetry.
For most of my life, I have been ashamed of my poetry because my poems told my secrets. I am ready now, however, to share the fragments of my personal story.
Michele L. Rivera is a Massachusetts native who has been writing lesbian romance since 2013. It all started with the release of her first book, “Taking the Lead,” which is a fictional story loosely based on her own coming out experience.
Through her writing, Michele strives to share her strong personal beliefs that love is love and that happily ever afters do exist.
When she’s not writing love stories or poetry, she enjoys cuddling with her adorable cats, sipping on whiskey, watching movies, and searching for artistic inspiration within the human experience.
