And yes,you are now in business, so “let's make it simple”.This book provides tips to follow basic publishing steps to become successful. - Determine Company Name (for ISBN) and Title of Book - Set up shop - Toll fee #, Fax #, web site, email - (your 24/7 availability) - Contact newspaper, book reviewers, radio stations (remember call-write-call) - Send first newsletter - this is your first announcement - call to verify newsletter arrived safely - this is a test of your contacts - Copyright your final manuscript - remember 2 Form TX & mail to self - Celebrity endorsements for back cover - (Mayor, Executive, Director, Principal) - Layout (edit, illustrations, photos) - Obtain ISBN, Bar Code and submit ABI information - Investigate best printers to review - Get price/cost/time-line info on your final printer choice - Prepare Press Kit that include advance sale information - Develop Brochure & Literature for advance sales - Send next newsletter if you haven't already - (remember past, present, future) - If galleys are accepted send book to book reviewers - Arrange Barnes & Noble and other speaking events - Send out news release on all public speaking events - one release per event - Place info in calendar section of newspapers (usually free listing) - Phone or email all available friends, family, associates of event - Call to verify news release has arrived safely - answer questions if any - Event - offer advance sales, example % off cover price - With sufficient funds, go to print - For reviewers requiring final product for review, send to book reviewers - Ship books sold in advance & ask for an opinion - use opinions in newsletter - Sell books on consignment at location of previous speaking events - Schedule other speaking events and sell on consignment. - Eventually the shelf life of the book will end. A 2nd edition can give new life - Remember tax write offs from all expenses to help cover business costs
