Everyone has secrets. For some, it might be a report card that they "forgot" to bring home. For others, it might be an illness with which they don't wish to burden their loved ones. For Tracey Collins, it's his entire existence.
In a world where one's place in society is determined by orientation in a dynamic of Alphas, Betas, and Omegas, masquerading as a Beta is the one security that a closeted-Omega has at his arsenal. With a widowed, athletic legend Alpha for a father -- and the judgement of an entire community nipping at his heels -- the LAST thing Tracey can afford to do is reveal himself to someone like dreamy, all-star soccer captain Aaron Harper.
Caught between his duty to his prestigious father and his forbidden, innermost desires, Tracey is faced with a difficult choice: (1) continue to hide behind pheromone dampeners and omissions, cementing his father's reputation, or (2) take that leap of faith, where a particular green-eyed Alpha may or may not catch him.

Being a natural introvert with significant extrovert tendencies he expresses himself through the world of writing MM books, often with a darker, paranormal twist. His books are written from the heart of his deep, sensitive and mysterious, but playful and creative, wild spirit.

I was in the mood for a quick read and had just gotten what appeared to be the first part of the story from Amazon. At the end, there was the option to sign up for the newsletter to get the second part. I have to say that with the way the book ended at the first part, I don't think I would have continued to read it if I would have had to pay for it. It was clear that it was unfinished and almost felt like a gimmick to get me to sign up for the newsletter. BUT, in the end, I did end up getting the entire book (part 1 and 2) as a full book from the newsletter, so that was good.
The story had an interesting premise. Tracey was an Omega who was forced to pretend he was a Beta because his father made him He didn't want to disappoint or embarrass his dad, so he lived a lie. He finds Aaron very attractive, but he happens to be an Alpha, so Tracey isn't allowing himself to get involved. The twist at the end of part 1 (middle of the whole book) was annoying to me . The story finally starts to go in a direction where we can see Tracey start to fight for himself and his right/desire to be happy, but it ended rather abruptly in yet another cliffhanger. Grrr. I don't like cliffhangers, especially when there are 2 in a short story/series. I'd be interested in reading the next part of this if it finishes and we see Tracey get his HEA, if there is in fact going to be another part, and if it finishes without another 10 parts.
This was less a book and more of a magazine serial - it just stopped right in the middle of something happening (which was pretty much the only thing in the book that happened). The characters did not seem real or make sense, nor did the environment. Were these kids in high school? College? What is a professional swimmer? Being that there's no NFL or NBA for swimming, it was confusing. Pretty sure that if you want to be the next Michael Phelps, you work on that from age 5 on up and it's not something that you just decide at 20 or so (if that's how old this MC was). I don't know - one star is harsh but I couldn't find anything redeeming in this one.
Two stars for an interesting concept. I applaud the author for trying a new twist to omegas. I hope the author takes this series and makes one interesting (no cliff hanger) of a complete book. I would read that developed plot. Also get a good beta reader.
I LOVED the cover, hot and mysterious. It made me look at this short story.
I can't believe this is by the same author as "Sailing Deep". If this short story is your first read by Noah Harris, PLEASE read his "Sailing Deep". It is wonderful.

Total Score: 5/5
Summary: Tracy was caught between a rock and a hard place. HE wanted his father to be proud of him, but to do that he had to deny his very nature as an omega. Forced to take drugs to hide his scent and omega abilities, Tracy tries to be the beta that his Dad wanted hi to be, but the trade off was difficult especially when his dream alpha Aaron seems to always be around.
This was a wonderful start to a new series. I can’t wait to see what happens next as things are just starting to unravel for Tracy.
The narrator did a wonderful job bringing each character to life for the reader in this audiobook.
Worse part...I cannot find Closeted, #2. The print is so tiny on my kindle that I'm not sure it took. Why couldn't Noah just put the two books together than making the reader look for the second book. The way it ended I'm not sure if I want to know what happened in that situation.
If you write a short story there needs to be some sort of flow, some sort of action, plot, engaging interest that actually gives you the sense that it's an actual short story. This book is not that way. It's what I'd consider a dupe. It offers a lot of promise, with no outcome. Was the prospect of a wonderful story there? Yes. Was the writing done well? For the most part, yes. Did it give you an interesting view and make you want to read more? Yes. But it simply cut off. We're not talking sort of cliffhanger. We're talking a cliffhanger with little foundation set. There was nothing to go on. It felt like 3 chapters from a book and then that was it. It's very strange that an author would publish a short story this way, leaving us hanging without much plot to go on. All I kept thinking was... Why? Then at the very end it says click here to get rest of story. Then it asks you to sign up for something to get a free book. I assume you get the rest of the book this way. Not sure. Not going to do that. I'm sorry. It's not that I didn't think the story didn't have promise. But I am reviewing this on what I have in front of me. What was offered in what I read. Which is little story, with some good potential. I would venture to guess if I had completed this story and not been cut off and the erotic parts were done well, I would have rated it a 3 to 3.5 stars. Sadly, I give this a 2.
Another short story that I wanted to try out and see what I thought about the authors writing. This one I found wasn't for me. While a good short story should leave me wanting more from the world, it also should be a complete story, something that has a clear story arc - not something that looks like they pulled the middle chapters out of a book and published them. And ending at the start of a potential sex scene isn't going to get me to send the author my email address for the next section.
I do have to admit that I am new to the whole Alpha/Beta/Omega genre for romance books, which is why I figured I would give this one a shot. Unfortunately, I really didn't see anything in this that explained the process and/or hooked me to read more about it. And it did bother me that the male Omegas were the ones that birthed the children and there was an implication that there were no female alphas.
All of the story issues were on top of a really bad editing problem. While using spell check is good, it doesn't take the place of someone actually reading the story and it making sense. On multiple occasions, the word latter was used to refer to what I could only assume was a ladder since people were crawling up and down it to get to high places. Even a friend who is reading the story to help the author should have caught this. Unfortunately, these kinds of errors pull me out of the story so fast that I can never really get hooked.
Okay, listen. This was a good story, the little bit that I got to read. It had the potential to be hot and engaging. But this was a fucking SAMPLE! It literally stops in the middle of something pretty important...there was no story arc. There was build up, something like a climax (I guess?) then it just ended in the middle of it. I was so ready to finish the story that I even signed up for the mailing list to get the rest of the book, which the site claims will be sent to your inbox "instantly." The books were not sent instantly and who knows when I will actually get them. I gave it 4 stars because I was definitely into it and wanted more, though I can easily see why people have rated this two stars and lower.....there's just a lot of hoops you have to jump through to read the damn thing. Glad it was free.
Update: I've received the rest of the book and though it's called Omega Closeted #2, it's just a continuation of this story that still ends with a cliffhanger. As many people have mentioned in reviews, there's little here that explains the omega lifestyle and there's no reference at all to the shifter world; no introduction, no quick explanation, nothing. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of sex as well. Basically this is a really short PG rated romance. It reads as though the omegas and alphas are HUMAN what with them holding regular jobs and attending college....I'd expected more.
Tracey is an omega and working in his father's sports store. His Alpha father makes him take pills to suppress his omega scent as it doesn't reflect well on him. Aaron is the Alpha Tracey has a crush on and he seems to be returning his feelings and Jess, fellow omega, mad BFF and confidante.
This was an engaging story, the start was entertaining and set the scene of Tracey and his issues, his crush and the introduction of Aaron. Jess was an absolute card with her banter and "wise" words. For the page count, it was written well and the characters were easily invested in - Tracey's father though - I have no words for that self-centered arse.
I have a couple of issues - the main one around the middle of the read and Jess goes into heat. For a number of pages Tracey has inner musings and questions and self analysis on why he should/shouldn't assist Jess through her heat (as per dear dad's request - self image and all that -twat) - it was insightful, but felt a little confused and rambling and then we get 4 days later.....so I felt a little whiplash and wondered what I had just read and why??? It took the shine off the story a little for me. The second issue - the cliffhanger!!! It wasn't a huge one, but even so *meh*
Overall, this was an entertaining read and I need the next installment now!
Harris is an author still learning his craft. His story ideas aren't bad, but the execution needs improvement. The document had typos, misused homophones, a few places of bad punctuation, and other symptoms of one still learning. Some beta readers would help him work out his writerly kinks easily enough.
If the learning curve of an indie author doesn't put you off, then this is an Omega MM story. In context here, it's a male who could become pregnant from an alpha male. I am assuming this is somewhat standard for MM Omega stories (vs Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs where that kind of Omega is something different entirely). There is a love interest, and the two men do have an ease with each other that's welcome. The alpha in this story is a kind young man and not an arrogant, authoritative meathead.
While I do read MM stories, I'm not a fan of mpreg and omega in this context. Even though I am not interested in mpreg, I do wonder how any potential babies that come of this are supposed to be delivered in mammals, and I wonder if any of these stories ever try to tackle that. But I don't want to know the answer of that question so much that I'll go read more Omega/mpreg stories.
Tracey, an omega in hiding due to suppressants and a controlling father, falls for Alpha Aaron in the midst of it all. To add injury to insult, his best friend Jess, also an omega goes into heat and it is Tracey who helps her through it. Aaron was the perfect gentleman and even finding out Trace's secret, he was still encouraging Trace to be true to himself. I enjoy Alpha/Omega stories and found this to be off the grid and sweet. Usually an alpha is rough and unforgiving. Aaron made me frown a few times cus I thought there was a twist coming. Had it not been for Tracey's verbalizing that Aaron WAS in fact Alpha, I would have said no way in hell. I think that is why this got a low rating. I enjoyed the story, but at points it was not believable. When does the next episode come out to explain certain things? Does Sly, Trace's father concede and move on? Do the guys move from HFN? Waiting...

The story concept is great and the writing was some of Noah's best. I liked the build up of Tracey's feelings (possibly returned?) toward Aaron; we get several opportunities to see how them interact and the spark between them. The best friend was classic, a funny but surprisingly wise fellow omega. The father was a standard villain, someone you want to slap. The thing that really clenched it for me was that excellent cliffhanger! I actually yelled Arggggh! I can't wait to see how Tracey is going to get out of this one. Or will he?! Next installment now!!! I received a free copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Loved Tracey and even with the manipulative father who tries to make his Omega son appear as a beta. I found this a gripping read. It's different to usual MM romance offerings. Jess is brilliant as a friend but Aaron is the defining character. Well worth reading but I want more!
I received this in exchange for an honest review. This is a short story but well written. The characters are developed throughout the story. I'm looking forward to the next one in this series.
Kindle freebie. Overall I'm not feeling the Noah Harris stories. But this story, despite the werewolf aspect, I found really intriguing. It sorta leaves you hanging because it stops midstream.
Has the potential to be a really great read but I only got a small sample and although it's good, I need more. I like Trace and Aaron and can get on board with them as a couple. The kiss in the store was hot! But I need more of them together and I want to know how Jess is going to react to all of this.
