Fate moves you – whether it’s a gentle nudge or a violent push, your life is never entirely your own. Calina Konev is a gutsy and determined young woman, trying desperately to support her family in early 20th century Baltimore. Sparks fly when she meets her new co-worker Nessa Brennan, a charismatic beauty with a keen intelligence and lively wit. But both women have big secrets… Faced with impossible choices, Calina and Nessa must find the courage together to not only overcome the dangers of their everyday lives, but also defeat a cunning threat in a world neither knew existed.
Heather McVea was raised in a small town south of San Antonio, Texas. Prior to escaping to the big city, she raised Hampshire pigs, rode motorcycles at entirely too young an age, and once snow boarded behind a Ford pickup truck. She relishes a strong gin and tonic, or a well-made old-fashioned (but never at the same time). Heather and her wife have three furbabies, and divide their time between Texas and Maryland.
Amazing read! always good seeing something new from H.McVea because many readers know that whatever book is release will surely not disappoint. And this book lived up to everything: from love, family drama that showed in combining of two worlds:- one in the future and the other in the past. I do not know how she(author) does it but this was really good penmanship on paper without a doubt and was even enjoyable, entertaining from the first page to its ending..recommend to everyone
Again the author brings to life a wonderful and magical world. It has everything, action, romance, history.Calina, loyal and fierce and Nessa strong and compassionate ( condemnation compliment). I loved how both women were so strong taking into consideration that the set up is in the 1900's Baltimore. November's End is a total fairy tale. Hope is a start of a wonderful series.
I'm too cheap to purchase a book and then abandon it, I'm not disappointed as it is a worthy and weighty enjoyable story of it's own, It just wasn't for me, it's too far removed from the Waking Forever series which captivated me and kept me spellbound....back to waiting in hope Heather McVea can churn out another vampiric themed treasure.
It could easily have been a 5. I just loved the first half of this book. 19th century, early at that. Two women so in love, both defying society. It was fantastic and romantic. And after that, while still very good, disappointed me a bit but not much. Maybe I should have gone with a 5. Will read this author again and again. Ok it is a 5.
