This book was so good I stayed up until 1 a.m. trying to finish it.

February 20, 2018No Rating. Once I realized the author was trying to pull off a "big misunderstanding" between people who were around each other frequently for nearly 20 years, I couldn't make myself take Angie or Preston seriously. It just wasn't real. So I skipped and skimmed, lol.
Angie was openly hostile and it just seemed OTT. I understood her seeing him differently/ dropping him when they were in school. Sex between friends is always messy, but your first lover? Sheesh. I kept reading reviews saying she should have gotten over it but nope. High school or no, the side eye would be permanent. However, she acted like it was yesterday. Just silly.
And I was so annoyed by her being distracted by him in court and never winning a case against him because of it, like really? Why do authors write stuff like that? How am I supposed to believe this woman is a good attorney?
I didn't really like Preston, either. He was so childish in the beginning. I kept waiting for him to pull her hair and steal her French fries. This is a 30 something functioning adult?! It was clear he was in love but he came off almost as silly as Angie. And anyone who reads my reviews knows I dislike ho-ish male leads.
Their bffs were a hot mess. Who asks their friends to plan their entire wedding?!

I have read a few books by this author and her stories are diamonds undiscovered. I enjoyed this story about Angie and Preston. I loved the longevity of their relationship that went from childhood to adulthood, and from good to bad to good again. The flashbacks to their adolescent stage gave me a glimpse of the past and help me to vision how their relationship evolved into the present. The hero was at times a jerk and I really didn’t know if I would like him by the end of the book. But the author was able to reveal moments of vulnerability with Preston and I began to root for him because like their circle of friends I wanted them together too. Angie held on to that grudge for 20 years and that is sometimes what we do. I got a little nervous at the end because I was afraid after all that they wouldn’t end up together. Another great read by Ms. White.

What can I say about this book other than I LOVE IT. Angie & Preston are friends turned lovers turned mortal enemies...at least that's how Angie sees it. She's been nursing (and feeding) a 20 years' long grudge against him and would be content to hold on to it for another 20--until their best friends work together to try & force them to forgive & forget.
This story is at turns hysterical, tender, sweet, heartbreaking, and scorchingly sexy. I completely fell in love with the characters (even Angie, because despite wanting to knock her out a couple of times, I understood the source of her anger & hurt and I also kind of wanted to give her a hug).
I've read all of D.L.'s published work so far (and a fair amount of the unpublished stuff!) and she is, without fail, a wonderful storyteller and masterful character creator. Once again, she's made something beautiful with this story.

When I started reading this book, I wasn't sure I would like it. I thought the premise of the wedding planning was too far fetched...but somewhere along the way, it worked and I was rooting for Angie and Preston!
I tend to stay away from romance novels but I genuinely enjoyed this story! It made me smile. DL wrote relatable characters; you either have a friend like them or your are them!

A Tight Story
A thin line between love and pretending to hate is the best way to describe this story. Preston and the love of his life ex girlfriend and best friend from elementary Angie, were forced into planning their best friends destination wedding. While planning the wedding the happy couple schemes and hopes that if Preston and Angie spend quality time together they will find HEA.... A superb story!

This book is funny, and romantic, and sexy as hell! Angie and Preston will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you neglect all the things you are supposed to be doing. Their banter and chemistry is so well written and and realistic that I found myself blushing, and laughing, and sighing and rooting for them to win.

I love the enemies to lovers trope...I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy the lovers, to enemies, to lovers trope. This book was SO sweet. Buttercup from Powerpuff girls sweet. Swedish Fish chewy candy sweet. Rot your teeth with one bite sweet. And not in a cheesy, unrealistic, all is bliss, rainbows and candy canes way either.
Angie and Preston are childhood friends turned lovers. They spent most of their time in high school wrapped up in each others space and lives, planning their future together, experiencing new things with each other, and living their fullest lives as teenagers on the cusp of adulthood and forever with one another. Until an unintentional betrayal causes their puppy love to end in firey flames. Turning their sweet dreams of forever together, into constant bickering, arguing, and fighting. Both in their personal lives since they all share the same friends, and in their professional lives since they also share the same occupation as lawyers, frequently fighting on opposite sides of the courtroom. Tired of their decade's long pettiness and fighting, their best friends Nate and Morgan, devise a last resort plan to push them into reconciliation by forcing them, as best man and maid of honor to plan their wedding. They didn’t really believe it would work and Preston and Angie just KNEW that it wouldn’t...but as they say. There's A Thin Line between love and hate.
DL White wrote her ASS off with this book. The amount of character development and exposition that went into this book is crazy. This is the first contemporary romance book I’ve read this year, that focused just on the relationship between two characters, that didn’t leave me feeling like I wanted and needed more. I’ve found that the romance books I’ve been reading this year have left me with wanting more substance. More information about the characters character, more insights into their day to day lives as individuals, just MORE. But with A Thin Line and the way it was written and executed, I was perfectly fine with just following Preston and Angie on their journey to rediscovering their love for one another. The amount of times I smiled throughout this book at just the sweet gestures they showed one another, or feelings and thoughts they had for one another is definitely unprecedented.
I loved how much attention and focus was put not only on Preston and Angie as characters but on their friends and family as well. The detail and regard that was given to the secondary and even tertiary characters really lent itself to given a full and robust picture of who Preston and Angie were which only made it easier to fall in love with and root for them.
This was just an overall SOLID book and I’ll definitely be reading more of DL White's work.

This book will give you all of the feelings. I laughed, choked back tears, wanted to punch Preston dead in his chest -- multiple times-- and yet also just wanted to hug him.
If you need an escape from reality for a while and need a book that take your mind off your troubles, A Thin Line is just what you need.
Preston and Evangeline (Angie) started off as childhood friends who grew into a high school sweetheart romance. Until that wench Stacey, who couldn't stand that she wasn't the chosen one, threw a monkey wrench in their plans on prom night, and ruined their plans for the future.
Overnight, Preston and Angie went from young lovers to arch enemies and it has stayed that way 20 years into adulthood. But two of their friends have plans to get them back together.
Will it work? Or will Angie and Preston try to kill each other? I guess you'll have to read the book to find out.

This was great. This book really takes you through a gamut of emotions. In parts, you hate the main character for being so stubborn and not seeing what's right in front of her - in parts you are totally cheering her on for being totally right about everything.
I found this so easy to relate to on so many levels and some parts of it really hit close to home - this book really takes you on a journey with the characters!!!
DL White is one of my favourite authors and this is very different from her other books but every bit as good. She really has incredible range and has a talent for making characters come to life completely. She also has a wicked sense of humour that comes through in everything she writes!

This story was a read I highly recommend. Angie and Prescott story starts as young love. The authors paints a story that has you struggling with Angie and at times I just wanted to shake her...Really??? She was a bit frustrating but I understood. Read this, I am going back for a second read today.

I honestly thought Angie was going to physically harm Preston
This a cautionary tale of what can happen when past hurts aren't addressed in a healthy manner. I loved their banter, but I also sided with Angie in the reason she stopped dealing with Preston. Did it need to carry on so long? Absolutely not, but it takes two to keep a battle going.

Loved every word
The tension between Angie and Preston was so authentic. Once the reason behind the tension and anger was revealed, I understood Angie so much more, but also Preston's persistents. I really enjoyed the journey that this story took me on. The laughter and the tears that I shed while reading this book were absolutely worth it.

I have an issue of downloading books to my Kindle then apparently forgetting about them until I randomly look through my library for something to read when I'm between series. A Thin Line is what I like to call a pleasant surprise and I'm really glad I read it. This story follows Angie and Preston and their almost inevitable reconciliation. They were childhood friends, eventually becoming high school sweethearts until certain events split them up for the next 20 or so years.
Angie: I found Angie to be really likable but absolutely infuriating at the same time. Her snark tickled me and provided me with a lot of laughs that kept me thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. Though I could understand her outrage--trust me, I love a good grudge as the next girl--at times, I did roll my eyes because it was almost like she was looking for something to be upset about. And luckily, she came to the same conclusion herself and calmed down. I love me a self-aware heroine.
Preston: Jury's still out on how I feel about Preston. I don't have any negative feelings about him per se, but there were plenty of moments when I wanted to shake him and tell him to leave well enough alone. He's your typical male that wants what he wants and will get it, come hell or high water.
Supporting Cast: Throughout the story, Preston and Angie's friends made frequent appearances since the couple were planning a wedding for another couple in the group. Now, I would say that I wish they would've fucked off somewhere but then, we wouldn't have a book. If there's one thing that I hate, it's meddling ass people and these fools were meddlers to the max. Literally every five seconds, here comes one of them adding their unnecessary commentary that no one asked for. They could've allowed Preston and Angie to find their way back to each other naturally but once again, if they did, we wouldn't have a book.
Overall: Definitely an enjoyable read. Solid leading characters with a fun plot line. There were a few laugh worthy moments but the supporting characters annoyed the hell out of me sometimes. 4 stars.

3.5 stars. This book is the story of young Love goes wrong and then finds its way back again.
Angie and Preston, along with best friends Morgan and Nate, grew up on the same street together. They paired off as couples early on in life and remained friends into adulthood. The story is told from Angie's POV and it is a doozie.
When Angie and Preston were in their senior year of high school, she found out that things were not as they seemed. Thinking they were both virgins before sleeping together she had this idealistic expectation that they would be each other's one and only, just like Morgan and Nate. Her naive little bubble was burst at the homecoming dance by the school trollop. This started an 18 year feud between the two former lovers.
Angie was very selfish and immature to hold a grudge for almost two decades without even giving Preston a chance to explain himself. I just never understood her position. Yeah, she had a Disney Dream of what a perfect relationship would be, but come on. This was a woman who graduated college and law school and became a compassionate lawyer who helped people. It made no sense that she had zero forgiveness for the man she once loved. Especially since they were still in the same social circle and had to see each other constantly.

This Story Was SO Goooood!!
Oh. My. Gosh!! This was a FULL love story of second chances, friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, coming-of-age-love to full grown love! This story had it ALL!
What I loved most about this story: **turn your head if you think this is a spoiler** 🤷🏾♀️ — is that we get the WHOLE love story. You know how—& this is not a complaint, it works for some books—anyhoo, you know how, in books, the couple goes through all the drama upsets, & the bad times and then as we get close to the end of the book, we get a few chapters of them getting it together & seeing a glimpse of the good times? Well, hunni, NOT HERE! You get the full Monty of Angie & Preston’s journey back to one another & with them as a couple!
And I loved EVERY minute of it!
This was a feel good book! Fair warning: Preston is a jerk but his redeeming qualities outshine his annoying disposition & attempts to get her attention & as you read you begin understand why he’s the way he is *sigh*
BRAVA!! Fabulous job to D.L. White! This book is easily one of my favorites. These people are like family now. So, I’m hoping for an update holiday short story of Angie’s dad and the crew or SOMETHING! 😍😍

I adored this book! Give me second chance romance stacked with black doctors, lawyers, business owners and you’ve got me hook, line, and sinker! My petty reason for not giving it 5 stars, this was the looooongest miscommunication known to man!
Preston and Angie are pushed back together 20 years post high school breakup. Angie dodging that good man for that long makes her the petty poster child because she was really mad over semantics! To be fair I’m probably also petty because the miscommunication is more background knowledge, it’s not a huge part of the actual plot!
Petty breakup aside I loved Preston and Angie! Their reconciliation was such a full circle moment for them, their friends, their family. I actually liked their little bickering, it’s like they were teenagers in their first love moment all over again! I loved seeing their childhood dreams come to life like they’d always imagined, the strong friend group, the supportive parents. It’s wholesome but spicy, a fun read that had me smiling and giggling through the end!

It's been a little while since I've enjoyed a novel this much. Even though Preston was rather insufferable, Angie was stubborn and could hold the heck out of a grudge, and Morgan...well, I didn't love Morgan at all at first lol, it all made sense with the story.
How much did I enjoy this? I was supposed to be doing other things but picked this up, telling myself I'd just read a chapter or two. At that point, I was at chapter 25. There are 43 chapters and an epilogue and it's almost six in the morning...I wasn't trying to stop until I finished it. :)
