The son of the original Savage Dragon, Malcolm Dragon, is dragged to Hell by a Pig-Nun demon who arrived to Earth (Dragon's Earth) answering the call of a High School goth chick. Malcolm is transported into that hellish dimension, where he meets Nancy... and Lucifer. And they will meet one of the old foes of The Savage Dragon: The Entity, sent away to the pits of Hell in the famous saga "Savage Dragon vs Hell". So, Nancy and Malcolm must rescue of Lucifer, captive of The Entity and Pig-Nun... riding a red-and-white 1958 Plymouth Fury.
This one shot comic book has a plot that is rushed with very little story. It is the size of a standard comic book (22 pages or so), therefore there is only time to introduce the characters and have some action scenes.
Usually, these kind of short one shot comic books are a fun quick read. Nothing special, but a fun ride. This time with two different characters in the same book that usually do not belong in the same universe. I actually really like these kind of books, because after reading a long book with a well designed story with twist and turns I crave something more simple where I do not have to think about the plot and characterization. These type of books scratches that itch.
However, this story needs more action, violence, and tongue-in-check humor. The set-up just begs for cheesy B-movie fun. It does not take advantage of the weird situation.
The art work is very good with really good line work. This book is worth a read, but do not expect it to live up to its potential.
I was never attracted to the idea of a green dragon police officer. His son punching his way through hell showed me why I felt this way. This one-shot seems rushed and adds little to the universe built in the last two volumes. Nancy still wants to be alive again, Lucifer is still a pussy, but one with very destructive powers, hell is still unpleasant to say the least. The read was a bit of a waste of time.
