Olivia Luck is one of those talented authors who deserves the spotlight and attention. Ms Luck continues to deliver stories that pushes readers out of their emotional comfort zone but along the way she slowly reigns in her reader’s hearts and emotions as she hold us hostage with her beautiful message of hope, love, new beginnings, and second chances. So can I pinpoint to the time where I fell in love with Olivia Luck’s writing and storytelling? Yes, from the first book that she wrote.
If you have been following the Point Series, then you must know that Olivia Luck doesn’t write any typical romance story but instead she writes a love story that has meaning, depth and beauty. And in this fourth installment, Pinpoint, Olivia Luck introduces readers to Iris Harper, Violet’s younger sister, who we met in the last book. Iris joins Violet in Chicago after she leaves the life that her parents planned out for. Starting over is never easy and so Iris learns how different life in the city is and so she befriends Oscar. But what happens when the good girl befriends the bad boy culinary chef? Will sparks of romance fly? Or will Oscar put Iris in the friend zone? Will these two be able to pinpoint the moment when the lines of friendship gets blurred?
Olivia Luck writes a love story that is practically a modern romance fairy tale. Luck douses her readers with an emotional story line that is sprinkled with banter, vulnerability, passion, love, friendship, and most importantly new beginnings. She reminds us all that when one door closes, another opens. And for Iris Harper, her happiness and freedom just got a little sweeter with a chef that knew how to stir her heart. So if you are looking for a story that incorporates every facet of beauty, truth, understanding, and love then look no further than an Olivia Luck book.
One of my favourite New Adult authors that I have come to enjoy is Olivia Luck with not only her stand-alone books but also her The Point series. For those who have read her previous books, you will see some familiar names. Pinpoint carries on from Book #3 Point of No Return. In Point of No Return, we met Violet Harper whose husband Max - a firefighter had passed away and then she later met Cameron - the hockey player. We also caught a glimpse of her life growing up in the small-town of Winter under her father's strict rules and how she was disowned by her family. Now that we have Point of Return's basis covered , in Pinpoint we meet Violet's younger sister Iris Harper who like Violet has been living under her father's strict rules but now she too has moved out and been disowned. Iris has moved to the big city and is currently working with Violet and her event planning business. Her passion however lies with baking and cooking and Iris has picked up a few teaching classes at Mentoring Chicago. It is through the classes and her sister Violet, that she meets famous chef - Oscar. He is a hot/cold type of personality and as Iris hasn't had any experience with men, she is not sure where she stands. On one of their first dates, she gives him her V card and then she wakes up the next day to him gone and a note. Feeling dejected and hurt, Iris tries to move on but of course Oscar can't stay away from her and can't show his true feelings. Can Oscar prove to Iris that he loves her or will it be too late as Iris can't bear to be hurt once again by someone she cares about? I really loved this story and I think a lot of it had to do with Iris's mentoring job as I have always hoped I could do something like that but where I live there isn't really any opportunities for that particular work. Also for fans of Olivia Luck's previous books in The Point series - we do get to read guest appearances from Stella , Blake , Cam , Tucker , Felix and Dom also. If you are looking for a New Adult romance with a slight Edge and an eventual HEA then check out Pinpoint by Olivia Luck.
Promising chef and aspiring baker. Oscar and Iris have an world presented to them that they both, in their own way, are trying to find their own place in. Exhilarating, pleasant read at understand who one is and the learning the world around them.
Life had thrown many challenges at Iris. She has had to find ways to make her life more than the box she had been closed into. She finds that she was not really living life. Not until she had an encounter with Oscar. Oscar was just a man that had his own doubts about the world. He was a bit of an arse, but he was able to open up a new world to Iris. Give her options and experiences she had not had before.
My first read with Olivia Luck went very well. I was so drawn in to this one with the sweet but earnestness that I want the others of this series. I just cannot envision you being disappointed with this read. I was captivating from the beginning all the way to the end. **This ARC was provided via Book Enthusiast Promotions in exchange for an honest review.**
Violet and Iris Harper live in the small town on Winter, Illinois. They have been demoralized their whole lives by their father and their mother haven’t spoken up. Violet leaves and Iris is ;left behind. Now the verbal abuse is nastier then before toward Iris and when she got old enough, she decides to go to where Iris is living but before she can actually get the nerve up and do so, Violet comes to get her sister and safe her –by then Iris is completely ready to break free and make her own way like Violet did when she left. As she is leaving, her father disowns her too and tells them both to never come back. Iris is very naïve and innocent; she believes that she has a “white knight” out there waiting on her; she isn’t street smart when it comes to life and is very inexperienced. She works for her sister in her event planning business yet she dreams of being a baker and owning her own store. She meets Oscar Alexander, a well-known chef, at a party. She finds her very handsome and easy to talk to. They talk and one thing leads to another and they end up sleeping together. She gives him her virginity and she thinks this is the beginning of a relationship—what she doesn’t know is for Oscar, he is a one night only type of guy. They have a push/pull type of relationship. Oscar doesn’t know what it is but he wants to be around her but then he doesn’t. He tells Iris he can’t be anything but friends but he ends up wanting more with her. Poor Iris doesn’t know if she is coming or going with him. Oscar has some tragic emotional scars which makes it hard to trust and love but there is something about Iris that makes him want to go the extra mile to do so. Can they have a relationship or will Oscar push Irish completely away? Iris is one sweet and loving woman who has gone thru so much that makes you want to smother her with love and affection ; as for Oscar, he is such a gruff and complex alpha male yet when he makes up his mind what he wants, look out. He is definitely a sexy and intelligent man who rights his mistakes. What a fantastic and complex emotional read. I really enjoyed reading it and I cannot wait to see what the author has next up.
My rating: 4.6 stars **** **I was given an ARC by Book Enthusiast Promotions in exchange for an honest review***
"I see it now; things heat up between two chefs in the kitchen. Romance lit by a gas stove."
Iris Harper finds her way to Chicago to live with her sister, Violet, after her parents condemn and disown her for not following the path they chose for her.
Stuck in a job she doesn't love because she wants to remain close to her sister, Iris slowly finds her own way...of course, the help of a friend never hurts.
Does it?
"Friendship is all I have to give, Iris. I know it's not much, but I'm asking you from the bottom of my heart to accept me as I am." Fudge. The line between rationality and romance blurs dangerously. I'm losing the battle to remain logical. Friends, friends, friends, I chant inwardly."
Oscar Alexander has never wanted anything more than a little fun on the side. Too driven in his career to consider someone to share his life with, it's no surprise he pushes Iris into the friend-zone. Except...he doesn't want to be her friend. There is something larger at work between the preachers daughter and culinary bad-boy; it's more than just chemistry in the kitchen.
"I gave into my desire to make her mind, completely, then she would own me. Wholeheartedly. With that power, she'd have the ability to hurt me, and because that's the way life is, she would hurt me. Destroy me. Irrevocably. There it is. The spot I can pinpoint my resistance to enter into a relationship with Iris. Or any woman for that matter. I refuse to give anyone that power over me."
Another fabulous story of love and lessons by Olivia Luck. I can't get enough of her writing or this series. Each story, while can be read as a standalone, flow so beautifully into each other. It never ceases to amaze me the creativity and diversity of her characters. It feels like life. But much more exciting.
I have enjoyed each book in the Point series by Olivia Luck so far, and Pinpoint was no exception. This book could be read as a stand-alone, but there are additional delights for those of us who already know and care about some of the other characters.
Here we get Iris's story. Iris is the younger sister of Violet (for those of you who have read others in the series). Iris and Violet were raised in a very strict religious home with parents who had a lot of rules and plans for their daughters that didn't include taking their opinions into account. Violet escaped by going to college, and when she returned years later, she helped Iris leave. Iris is thrilled to be living and working with her sister in Chicago. She has a passion for baking, and has found a way to blend her love of baking and her desire to help others. She meets Oscar Alexander, a well-known chef, and acquaintance of her sister. Oscar has no desire or time for a relationship, and even though he is very attracted to Iris, he knows that she is too sweet and naive for the kind of relationships he has with women. Iris is ready to experience life and make choices for herself and one thing she wants is to explore her desire for Oscar.
Iris is a very likable character and it is easy to cheer her on throughout the story. She is definitely inexperienced, but she doesn't let that hold her back from experiencing or exploring what she wants in life. Iris takes good care of those around her and I was really hoping she would find happiness in her freedom. Oscar is a pretty great character as well. He doesn't always make the best choices, and he is obviously struggling with some personal issues, but overall I liked him as well. This story is pretty predictable, but I enjoyed it and enjoyed spending a little time with characters I came to know in Luck's other books. I will gladly read more by this author in the future.

PinPoint (Point #4) by Olivia Luck. This is the 2nd book I have read in this series and I do need to read the other two as they are both so good. This story is about Iris. I thought the beginning was great, very emotional and I really could feel what the author was trying to portray. The pregnant woman his wife gives birth to another girl, he is not happy at all, he wanted a boy and well that isn’t going to happen. The start of this book gives a quick look into Iris’s young life and to understand why she left. I am glad that the author wrote this part. Iris moves to Chicago two hours away from her parents to get away, she moves in with her successful sister. She hasn’t seen her since she left home. Her sister Violet has a success event planning business and her boyfriend is a big hockey player. Iris helps her sister with her business and they both live together. Iris needs more, she volunteers for a Teen program and teaches them how to bake. Baking is her passion. Right before she starts teaching she meets Oscar; he is a Top Chief with his on cooking reality show. Something clicked with them but Oscar has no time to put his emotions into a relationship. He has made that clear and Iris understands but the heart wants what the heart wants. Oscar decided to put Iris in the “friend “category. Their chemistry is there but there are a lot of emotions that need to be worked out. I really enjoyed reading this book, I loved the way the characters are and how the author made sure that the reader understood what was going on and the emotions. Which are all important to me. I like to understand the characters and to know what is going on. Even though this book is in a series you can read this book without reading the others. I want to thank Book Enthusiast Promotions and the Author for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review. I received a free copy of a book in exchange for an honest review
Every time Olivia Luck writes a book it's an automatic one click for me. I have enjoyed all of her books immensely and this one is no exception. With each book she's written, her characters become more in depth. The descriptions become more colorful and the plot becomes more in depth.
When I picked this up yesterday, I knew about Iris. We met her at the end of Point of No Return (Violet's Book.) We knew she was quiet, shy and extremely sheltered. Probably the best part about this book to me was watching Iris grow into this person that could still stand up for herself but maintained the love she had to give the world. As she navigated through this new life she made for herself, she gave with all of her heart. She met new people and saw the best in them even when we as readers didn't want to. Case in point was Oscar. They meet and sparks fly, he's broken and jaded and Violet sees the best in him.
Oscar is a chef that has become more of a personality than a cook these days. He is extremely successful and seems to have the world at his fingertips. He meets Violet and all of a sudden things start to change for him. He pushes her away, treats her horribly but can't stop thinking about her. We learn a lot about Oscar's past and his feelings in this book and without these alternate points of view from him, I think some of my sympathy for Oscar would have been lost.
In the end, this book was a great story about love and trust. I completely enjoyed the banter between characters and the appearances from other characters as well. I really hope that we have more books in this series because I feel like there are more stories to be told. Iris and Oscar will still remain my favorites but I feel like Olivia still has a lot more writing up her sleeve that could wow me just like this one did.
This was my first time reading anything by Olivia Luck and I must say that i thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story. Olivia Luck has given us a story that will suck you in and will keep you there from start to finish ,and then will leave you wanting more from this author. This is Iris Harper's and Oscar Alexander's touching story. Iris has always been expected to live as her parents had planned for her, but she was tried of suffocating living in the small town of Winter. So she packed and followed her sister Violet to Chicago .But there's one problem you just can't take the small town out of the girl , but each day Iris struggles just to fit in but the one she doesn't need right now is romantic crush on Oscar Alexander . The hot and sexy Oscar Alexander is known as a lady killer ,he not only known for breaking records at his restaurants, but he's also known for breaking hearts with ease. Deep down he knows that he's not the man for the beautiful Iris ,but there's just something about the lovely Iris, that he just can't stop himself from wanting her. And he's decided that he's just not going to try to stay away from her. The characters are strong and amazing chemistry and the storyline was written very well. Olivia Luck has given us some heroines that are tough and tender also, and her heroes are sexy and hot and seems to be heart-breakers. Can Iris and Oscar find love with each other or not? I must say that the author has weaved a very unique romance that will touch your heart and soul. I could tell you more about this touching story ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you give this story a try, you won't be disappointed.
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Oscar Alexander finds the temptation of Iris makes him challenge everything he's ever stood for. Is it possible to ignore undeniable attraction? Can we ever get over the desire for another and be just friends?
Pinpoint is another enjoyable romance from Olivia Luck; without a doubt she will always be one of my favourite Authors.
The attraction and connection that Iris and Oscar share is instant and gets stronger as the story progresses. They are the other half to each other’s soul and without truly realising complete and challenge each other in all the right ways.
Iris is a bright, caring, loyal and outstanding woman. Given her tough upbringing she stopped at nothing to be happy and is open minded to what the world has to offer.
Oscar is a kind, caring, head strong, clever and talented businessman with a dark edge to him. He threw himself and his life into his work to escape the demons that were eating away at him every day.
As much as I enjoyed the characters of Pinpoint, I didn't find myself falling in love with them, however the story was still sweet, strong and romantic. This story tugged at my heart and I can't wait to read more from Olivia Luck.
If you love contemporary romances with enjoyable characters and a story full of undeniable love, you will definitely enjoy the Point series by Olivia Luck.
I love this series and was so excited to finally read Iris' story. She and Violet are special sisters raised under the roof of a tyrannical religious father. In Violet and Cam's story we meet Iris and are left wanting so much more of this vivacious, smart and talented girl. In Pinpoint we meet the woman she has become, living and working with her sister and thriving. But she is missing two big piece's of the Iris puzzle....her career and her family.
Iris is a talented baker and teacher and wants to pursue this but obligation to her sister stops her from pursuing these dreams. She has become the proverbial third wheel to Cam and Violet and longs for intimacy. Until she meets Oscar....
Oscar has no time for relationships. His restaurants and his TV chef career are his life. He also longs for more, but only realizes how much more when he can't seem to get Iris out of his mind....and then his heart.
This is a lovers to friends to better friends story that we hope and pray becomes the ultimate love story. Iris and Oscar are so different yet so alike and their initial chemistry is off the charts. But is it too hot to keep the fire burning?
In all the books in this series, Olivia Luck leads us on a dramatic ride to romance. She has a fan in me for sure. Pinpoint is a standalone with recuring characters from the series ...so why just read one book when you can read them all? You wont be sorry.
Violet and Iris Harper live in the small town on Winter, Illinois. If that isn't bad enough their father is a pastor and he is very strict. The girls aren't allowed to do anything that isn't related to the church. After she is old enough, Violet goes her own way and her father is furious. He disowns her and told her to never come bad. Poor Iris is left to do everything . Iris really misses her sister and she is not allowed to talk to her. Years later Violet comes back to Winter to get Iris. She gets ready to leave with her sister and her father tells her she is disowned and to never come back. Iris is very inexperienced as far as worldly things go. She works for her sister in her event planning business. She dreams someday of being a baker. She meets Oscar Alexander, a well known chef, at a party. She really likes him but he is a one night only type of guy. He asks her out and she looses her virginity to him. She thinks this might get him but it doesn't. This story is so sweet. I just loved it. There is profanity and a small amount of sex. The things that happen between Oscar and Iris are worth reading. You will love this one
I love the Point series written by Olivia Luck, and I looked forward to reading Iris’s story after reading Violet’s story in Point of No Return, the previous book in this series. In case you haven’t read any of the books in the Point series, Violet is Iris’s older sister. Also, even though they are all standalones, I think you should read all the books in the Point Series. I loved Iris. Although her sheltered upbringing made her early years unbearable, I can’t help thinking they made her into a person who possessed beautiful qualities. I loved watching her blossom during this book. Even though I loved Oscar, I must admit I wanted to give him a slap around the head a few times. I loved “catching up” with what was happening with Violet and Cameron. I enjoyed reading Pinpoint; it was an easy read and the best thing of all, I finished this book with a smile on my face. However, I did find it a bit predictable–I wanted to be surprised. I wonder if there will be more books in the Point series? I hope so. I know I will be reading them. I gave Pinpoint 4 and a half stars. Written by Karen from A Thousand Lives Book Blog
A beautiful contemporary read about self-discovery.
Iris has been sheltered from the world by her religious parents. She joins her sister, Violet, in escaping their controlling clutches but her life experiences are limited...until she meets Oscar. Oscar, a famous chef, awakens experiences and feelings in Iris. And, whilst Oscar seems confident and successful, he is trying to find his own place in the world just like Iris.
Iris' innocence and naivety was very sweet and charming, as well as refreshing. Whilst Oscar's behaviour towards Iris left a lot to be desired at times, he helps her find her way and discover what she wants from life. When Oscar is good, he is very good, and when he is bad, he is awful.
Charming, sweet and refreshing. Olivia Luck is an author I will be returning to again and again.

It started out great and the first 30% was amazing and intriguing. I loved the chemistry and connection between Iris and Oscar. But then I hated how he treated her and how he dismissed her but wanted her to stay as hus friend, because he didn't wanted to completely let her go. Iris was too nice and forgiving with him. I also liked how Iris began working at Mentoring Chicago and how Oscar helped her with the kids, but after that the book became dull. Months passed, they avoided each other, then saw each other again. Iris was planning events with her sister, etc. The last 20% was good but I wasn't emotionally invested anymore.
Iris Harper was always expected to live the life her parents had planned for her. But instead of suffocating in the small village of Winter, she bravely follows her sister Violet to Chicago.
As the saying goes - you can take the girl out of the small town, but you can’t take the small town out of the girl. Iris is struggling to fit in and the very last thing she needs is to develop a wicked crush on Oscar Alexander.
The man places the half-eaten cupcake on my desk and extends a large hand. “Oscar Alexander.” Rolling the desk chair back, I rise to my feet and place my palm against his. “Iris Harper. Violet is my older sister.” His skin is warm to the touch, and his large hand envelops mine, but he holds my hand carefully in his, as though not to apply too much pressure. Quickly, I retract my hand and offer him an uneasy smile. I lied. This attractive man unnerves me.
Oscar is a widely known lady-killer. He not only breaks records with his restaurants, he breaks hearts with equal finesse.
He knows that he’s not the kind of man that Iris needs, but there is something about the innocent beauty that he just can’t stay away from – and he’s not even going to try.
Reaching down, I tuck an errant strand of honey-blond hair behind her ear. I hear her tiny intake of breath and nearly smirk. She wants me. “I’ll call you to arrange a time.” None of this texting bullshit. I’m a man, not a pre-pubescent teen without the balls to call a woman. “Okay.” She sounds breathless— a sexy promise of things to come. “Drive safely.” “You too,” she murmurs. Once I watch her leave the parking lot, I make my way to my own vehicle— humming. Who is in more trouble here, you or Iris? It’s hard to tell.
Pinpoint is another highly emotional story from Olivia Luck! With her signature heroines that are tender and yet tough as nails and her heroes that are heartbreakingly flawed – she weaves a unique love story that is sure to move something down deep in your soul.
Iris and Oscar will convince you that love does indeed conquer all…
What can I say? You control my heart. Each one of your books that I have had the pleasure of reading, have changed me. Pinpoint opened my heart and mind to the endless possibilities of true love and how find who you really are.
"God, I want one of my own. I want a man to love me as deeply as I love him; a partner to call when I have a bad day; a person to call when I have a good day; a shoulder to lean on when I’m feeling insecure."
Pinpoint is no different. This book is like a beautiful song. Each word flowing beautifully with the rest. Iris is every woman. Shy, insecure, wanting someone to love her. As a strong female MC she is relatable, which I love, because I can see myself in her shoes. All Iris has ever wanted is to be loved and wanted. Seeing her going through the journey to find herself tugs on your heart strings. Enter Oscar. Being a famous and a busy chef, he has zero time for love. Battling with need to be loved and wanted, Oscar sees a possibility with Iris. But his demons resurface and threaten to take away the one person he needs.
"The exact thing I’ve been afraid of happens at that moment. I lose my heart. She snatches it from my chest and holds it in her hands with one tender look. For a moment, I’m lost to her. And to my unrelenting shock, I’m not afraid."
Olivia's words take us into a dance of love, lust and wanting. And Pinpoint does just that. It pinpoints that spot in your heart, that spot that you need to open to let that love, lust and wanting in. It's help us see through our insecurities, and to show us that we can achieve our goals and dreams.
"The painful part of this process is learning that just because you dream something doesn’t mean you’ll get it overnight. I have no control over certain variable like attraction and time and willingness to be in a relationship."
This was the fourth book in the Point series and it was a lovely sweet story. Out of the 4 books I've preferred 3 and 4 over the first two. This was Iris and Oscar's story and I loved how they met and their relationship developed into more. As with the previous books there were several grammatical errors and mistakes which I really hate and it's for this reason that I have marked them down with the ☆ value.
