The Colloway Brothers #3

Luke's Absolution

Rate this book
Demons. Regrets. Absolution.

Luke has lived on the wrong side of the law since he was seventeen. His hands are stained and his soul is black, but the worst sin he's committed is falling in love with his brother’s girl. Then he met her. Addy Monroe is pure, innocent and stubborn as an ox. Even though he doesn’t deserve her, Luke will stop at nothing to have her. But just when happiness is within his grasp fate rips her away, reminding him once again that there is no absolution for sinners. Will Luke be able to let color fill his blackened soul?

From the first time Addy saw Luke Colloway over ten years ago she wanted him. Addy has been attracted to rough, crude, inked bad boys with a bike planted securely between their thighs and wicked promises falling from their lips her entire life. Every one of them has let her down. Every one of them has broken her heart. Every one of them has put her second. She's never going to let that happen again. When Luke promises her a future, will Addy let him in only to have her heart broken again?

Book 3 in a 4 book series. Each book features a different brother and each can be read as a STANDALONE. To get the full Colloway Brother experience, however, it's most enjoyable to read in order.

***Mature readers only, 18+. Features alpha men with foul language and penchant for hot sex.

Note: Luke’s Absolution is the third in the Calloway Brothers Series and is a standalone that can be read independently of the prior two books. This reader recommends, however that you read them ALL and in order ;) No major spoilers are given to the prior stories, but come on – you have to read in order. (Is my OCD showing?)

From the moment I started book one, I knew one thing. I needed Luke’s book. His story. I needed to spend time with him and love him and just be in his presence. He was that captivating of a character. He was mysterious. A bad boy who really was just a damaged good guy who had suffered his choices and some that were completely out of his control. You know from his actions in Gray, that he was redeeming. That he was worthy.

LA brings us the story of Luke and Addy. A woman he knows is too good, too clean for him, but one he can’t deny himself. Once Luke makes the decision to go after what he wants, he’ll stop at absolutely nothing until he makes her his.

For Addy, falling for the wrong guy is a common complication. But for the first time, she’s fighting her pull towards the tattooed-leather wearing kind of man. The only problem? Luke Calloway is making himself pretty irresistible and ensuring that she doesn’t forget the promise he made to her the night of Gray’s wedding. I won’t go into the story at all for this review, you just need to take my word for it that this is worth the read.

Soooo. Can I just say how smoking hot this was? Before I get to the amazing writing, let’s just tackle the smoldering aspect of this story.

Luke. Colloway.

Jeezus did that man know how to take care of his woman. Toss in his struggle with his past, his choices and the stains he can’t seem to clean off. This girl was sold. I was ready to run away with him after we ditched Addy, and make beautiful Luke babies (or die trying).

If you’ve read my prior reviews of this series, you know that I love it. That I love KL’s writing and have major feels for these characters. But this was by far my favorite of all the books in this series. I think that boils down to the star of this book really being Luke and his story. Addy had her issues, but this story was all about Luke.

Damaged heroes are my absolute favorite. But balancing out the damage and the strength is not an easy task. KL manages this perfectly, giving you a slice of tragic with a man who just can’t see past his own sins to see how bright he truly shines. And boy did she deliver on the twist in this book! I was in full on freak out mode!

The Colloway Brothers Series is a can’t miss, must read series. Feisty heroines, alpha heroes and love stories that capture your heart from the word go.

Luke's Absolution was my first book by K.L. Kreig and now it will be my mission to work my way through everything she's ever written.

Good Lord what a graceful writer--but it's grace mixed with total badass.

I think the thing that really set this book apart for me, besides the quality of the writing, is the absolute chemistry between the two main characters. Like off the charts chemistry. Like there must be some equation I learned in high school chemistry to describe the reaction these two have when they are combined. It's breathtaking and glorious.

Luke Colloway is bad boy, alpha male, tattooed hottie goodness. And he's damaged goods. Like major league damaged goods.

Abby Monroe is a feisty entrepreneur who is attracted to Luke, but also knows that she would be his second choice. And she's strong enough to know that she doesn't want to be second choice for anyone. She's got her own issues too.

Luke barrels his way into her apartment through an amusing loophole and then the tension becomes one of will-they-wont-they and it's so good to read. Then SPOILER they do get together (IT IS A ROMANCE NOVEL) and I loved the development of their relationship. I loved how KL delves underneath to get at the person below the past, the person below the damage, the person the character really is.

With beautiful, funny, heartbreaking writing, mixed with a touch of badass (that really is the only word that's coming to me right now), this is a great read. 5 stars.

***** This book was kindly provided by NetGalley for an honest review***** Will be released March 26th, 2016!!!

It has taken me 10 minutes looking at this screen to try and put into words how I feel about this book and its characters. It is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read..... no joke. And I have read a few let me tell you. But you cannot start with this book because the previous 3 in this series are almost as good.

Luke is such an enigma and he's deep let me tell you. There is so much he has had to deal with, but he knows what he wants and what he needs and Addy is it for him. No holds bared. She's stubborn and just as troubled, but hides it so well. I cried, I lost my breath..... its just that good. LOOK for the last in this series coming soon..... DESTINATION CONNELLY (releasing summer 2016).

Kreig takes you through this story of undeniable love, passion, healing and bordering obsession that you simply cannot put it down. I felt like I was literally right in that book feeling all those emotions. I'm sold, I'm done......... she is at the top of my author list folks.

I'm going to be watching for the first available time I can meet her when she comes south!!!!

I have come to love these Colloway Brothers ~ Big Time. They each bring something different to the table, yet they are all so close and intertwined you can't help but love them all. Luke is definitely the black sheep of the family, but he has a love that goes so deep for his siblings, that it isn't until you read this book that you really get it. MY GOD Luke's story was such an emotional journey. There were times I was swooning with wet panties, to filling kleenex with my wet tears. KL Kreig totally brought it in Luke's story! I can't wait until Conn's story....these brothers and their women have settled into my heart and I love them all immensely! 4.5 Stars for Luke's Absolution!!

Every time I start this review I end up deleting everything I've written. I'm at a loss. I have no idea how to explain my feelings about Luke's Absolution without giving something away. Even though this can be read on it's own (and thoroughly enjoyed/loved/etc), I implore you to read Forsaking Gray and Undeniable Asher first. You will have a deeper understanding of, well, a lot of stuff.

Luke Colloway is that BBF you want to heal. He thinks of himself as broken, but at no time did I feel that way. He was hurt beyond belief, not repair. He'd been traumatized, and instead of reaching out for help, he walks away from everything he's ever known. This lead to a less than stellar lifestyle and by the time he meets Addy he views himself as worthless when it comes to a good woman.

Addy is that good woman. She may not have had the best history with men, but her issues are easy to relate to and when she hits her epiphany I was a bit irritated. I know you want to know why, so I'm gonna tell you. Because I have had A LOT of feelings similar to Addy's and when she holds herself accountable to those feelings, It was hard to read. I was irritated at MYSELF! I was forced to examine at myself the same way she was. Damn you KL Kreig for making me adult!

When I'm reading, there is something that is absolutely exciting to me. Picture this:

Your H & h are snuggle-bunny happy and you feel complete and are ready for them to start making babies. Suddenly, your gaze hits the % read on your kindle screen and all you can think is "OMG! There's that much left?? WTF is gonna happen? Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit." And then you proceed to gorge yourself on the book.

Yeah, that happened. And I loved it.

The effort that Luke puts into Addy and their relationship will melt you. Be prepared to become a lovely puddle of goo as the man woos his women. Yes, honest to God wooing! I mean, how often to you get that with pig-headed alpha males? Luke will give it to you.

Luke’s Absolution (The Colloway Brothers #3) by KL Kreig
4.5 stars!!!

“You’re my color.”

Ever since I stumbled on this series and this author I have been itching for Luke’s book. While Gray and Asher have both had their moment in the limelight, finally it was Luke’s turn. While this book can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the series in order. Luke first appears in book one and is quite pivotal in Forsaking Gray and by reading that book it would give you a great insight into Luke.

“I need all the absolution I can get and on a very regular basis. I have so many sins to atone for, I could go to church daily and it still wouldn’t be enough. It will never be enough.”

I knew Luke’s story was going to be hard, he was an enigma, he held his cards and emotions close to his chest, he had a lot of demons, but under all that “gloom” was a heck of a lot of “bright” even if he couldn’t see it himself. When we first met Luke in Forsaking Gray you could tell he was a good man, he was self-sacrificing, he knew right from wrong even if the lines blurred a little, but you knew he had a huge heart, it was just a shame he kept it under lock and key. One thing Luke deserved the most was to love and be loved, he just need to believe that himself.

“…not with a man like me who has so may fucking ghosts in his closet, I’m surprised people can’t hear them howling.”

Addy was a woman that had her own issues too, everyone she loves leaves. She has been let down by every man she has opened her heart to, so her outlook on love is pretty bleak. While she knows deep down she wants it all…marriage, kids etc. she knows that that kind of love is hard to find in the ever present sea of sharks. Her heart is firmly guarded too, what little left of it there is. Addy has never had a close relationship with her mum either and it is this rejection that causes a lot of her issues. She has had it rough but Addy is one tough cookie and if anyone can make it, it is her. I loved Addy’s wit, her tenacity and her sass after all, Luke doesn’t call her “Fireball” for nothing.

“Most women I know still have their man firmly by the balls, but I think most of them are okay with that if it’s the right woman doin’ the tuggin’.”

These two really were the perfect fit, but with two broken and guarded hearts this was always going to a story about opening yourself up. Luke was a man on a mission though, no woman had ever turned his head like Addy. He had been admiring her from afar for a long time, but because of his self-worth issues and the fact that Addy was his best friends little sister, he stayed away, no matter how painful…little did he know the attraction was far from one sided.

“I’m rough and crude and definitely on the wrong side of heaven. Damaged, at best. Ruined, at worst.”

Luke and Addy have been skirting around each other for years, but for both of them those burning embers were just waiting to be ignited to a raging inferno. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and the thrill of the chase only whetted your appetite for what was to come. KL Kreig really delivered the slow blow and the agonising build up. The half-hearted fight of emotions from Addy was comical at best and you just knew that she wouldn’t be able to hold out forever, but Luke was the gentleman in every sense of the word and just kept waiting and pursuing until Addy’s little moment of defiance was over.

“…I have no idea what I am doing relationship wise. My brothers are tender where I’m hard. Refined where I’m rough. Boardwise to my streetwise.”

Luke was a truly amazing man, to see his soft side was beautiful and he showed what I knew all along…he knows how to treat a woman. He was like a dog with a bone with Addy’s heart, he knew it belonged to him, he just needed to dig it up…and he dug and dug until even Addy couldn’t deny that it truly belonged to him.

“I never knew sex with a woman could be almost transcendent. Silence, haters. I guess that’s how it is when you make love versus just fuck.”

These two have their troubles to deal with so you know that the course of true love will never run smoothly but I always believed that these two had what it takes to dodge the curveballs that life would throw at them. They have a few and most of them emanate from their pasts.

“I wish I could tell you I didn’t fuck it up, but I can’t. I’m a man. We fuck everything up at least once.”

I high-lighted so much in this book, from witty one liners to heart wrenching, beautiful quotes that had me tearing up with happiness. The growth in KL Kreig’s writing from book to book has been obvious and with each Colloway brother she has delivered three vastly different stories, while sticking to her writing style of intense love stories intertwined with her ever present wit. Sometimes it’s a little but she had fun with Luke and Addy. Considering I thought this was going to be a dark and brooding Luke I was pleasantly surprised that she showed us a different side and this lightened up the book no end. So now I wait on tenterhooks for the final brother, Conn. This brother we don’t know much about but what little we do know sets a precedent for an entertaining read. Can the unobtainable really settle down? He is adamant his heart isn’t for the taking, I can’t wait to meet the woman to knock him on his arse. Another winner from KL Kreig and I cannot recommend this series highly enough.

“He’s ramming against my zipper, declaring outright mutiny, and has recruited the twins below, who are probably so blue they look like Smurfs by now.”

This is book #3 of the Colloway Brother's series...and to be honest, I found it just a so so read for me. I do think that this was the case of "it was me, and not the book!!" I had a hard time staying focused on the story, but mainly because of my mind being preoccupied with my life issues! I still plan to read the last book, as I do like the author's work and I am eager to read about the last brother.. Hopefully my mind will be more into my reading when I do!!

5 Incredibly emotional, scorching stars!

It’s been a while since I read a book that I gave 5 stars to. But this one hit the ball right out of the park. It has a mix of angst, sex, love, emotion, tears, and everything else that you could want in a story that will whisk you away. Including an incredibly hot alpha male.

Luke Colloway is the ultimate tattooed bad boy. He’s got a past that he’s not proud of. This is a broken man that doesn’t think he’s worthy of love. And that just makes you love him more. Luke has his sights set on Addy. She’s everything he could ever want in a woman. She’s feisty, sexy, beautiful and she gives him a run for his money. He should walk away, but he doesn’t want to. There are things Luke wants to do to Addy that will make your panties melt off, or instantaneously combust.

Luke’s Absolution

Since he first laid eyes on her, he’s wanted her. Ten years is a long time. And when you still feel that kind of attraction there’s nothing that will stop you from having that person. No matter how stubborn they are.

Addy on the other hand fights the attraction she has to Luke. It’s a constant battle between the two. But when circumstances put them in close proximity she can’t continue to deny her feelings. Surely taking a chance and putting your heart out there isn’t that bad. Or is it? Luke has secrets, things he can’t yet share with her.

Luke’s Absolution

I haven’t read the other Colloway brother’s stories, but after meeting Luke, I definitely want to meet the rest of the family! This book is so beautifully written the words melt into your heart, they pull you into their world and hold onto you until you’re at the edge of your seat. Until you’re reaching for a box of tissues, or a cold shower. This is the first book by KL Krieg and I can definitely say it will NOT be my last. She’s woven an intricate story with character that will have you sitting with a book hangover.

I loved it immensely. I loved how author captured our interest towards the couple Luke and Addy from the prologue. Oh god, the tension they both had going on really made me hot and so bothered. Word after word, I kept reading to know what's going to happen. I was happy that Addy didn't give in easily and Loved how Luke didn't give up without a fight!! He knew what he wanted and went after him. the demons still plagued his mind but Addy silenced his storm, the beast raging in him and he wanted her. Even with his feeling for Livia, he knew nothing was going to happen. The scarifies he has made for the family made me for concerned and I fell in love with him so much!! He is a very honorable man. I really loved Addy, she was perfect for him. I loved their connection. Even with bad luck, she found a guy who gave her importance and who doesn't want that? Doesn't matter whether she was the first or the second option. She became the color for Luke <3

I will highly recommend this book to everyone! Do make sure to read in the order to understand better but it can be read as standalone.

Seriously.
I will read anything you write. K.L. Krieg.
Your next one really can't come fast enough.
You write words that connect characters together so well, you actually feel it in the pit of your stomach when they get butterflies.
I remember opening one chapter and literally feeling like I was on a roller coaster ...thinking...let's go!
I am a big fan of this series, and I would say that Luke is one of my favorites out of the clan. I think he may have fell the hardest.
The heroine...she was feisty and had great character growth as well.
I literally can't wait until the next in the series!

I'm bored out of my head with this story. I'm tolerating Luke, but Addy is bugging the fuck out of me, and I think I might slit my wrist if I have to read the word "Fireball" one more time. What a ridiculous pet name. This is such a bummer because I've loved all of this author's other stories. Think I'll start on Connelly's story. Fingers crossed.

This is the kind of book that has your heart racing so insanely fast that it may skip a beat and your head spinning around every few seconds to make sure no one is behind you as you sneak and read this at your desk. Your eyes reading so fast that you re-read the same sentence twice and it affects you even more. The sex scenes are so hot you imagine how your going to recreatethem when you get home! Ya this is "that"book!  Is it really that good you ask?

As Luke so eloquently put it  “Abso-fucking-lutely”!

I could feel the uncurrents of electricity in every word that was written. Hell it flowed out of my kindle and I swear I got tiny shocks everytime I swiped the page. I swear to God I feel like I cheated on my husband.Hell a in a few scenes I swore I got pregnant!!!

Luke was a dominant, sexy alpha male with a dirty mouth. The best kind right? He was so damn sweet and kind hearted though. He was seriously the man of my dreams.  He put Addy at the top of his list. I loved the way showed her how he felt. Every little action from cooking her dinner, to putting his name in her phone, to helping her overcome personal setbacks. Although, she does the same for him in return.

Addy is a sassy talking independent woman, who just happens to be his sister in law's best friend!  She is more than attracted to Luke, but under no circumstances does she want to admit it to him or herself. Luke also happens to be her brother's best friend. A bad boy that proves himself more than worthy even if he doesn't believe it himself.

This story is superbly written. Perfect in everyway. I'm gonna share with you my initial reaction after reading the last word in this book. I opened up a message and typed this to the author.

Ok so I'm going to sound like a broken record I know I said when I read Forsaking Gray that it was fanfuckintastic and I loved it and then Undeniably Asher came and I was like damn I fell for another Calloway brother but believe me when I tell you Luke's absolution blew me the fuck away!  I mean if I could put it in a metaphor I would say with Forsaking Gray I fell hard and Undeniably Asher I fell harder but for Luke's Absolution I jumped off the Empire State Building it was, oh God it was everything.
Everything is always better for me from a man's perspective and I don't know it takes a special kind of person to be able to write the male perspective so well that it just makes me pool into a puddle especially a cocky, sexy, tatted one. I know this message is going on forever and I can't help it I'm just fuck I don't know. I don't. I don't know. I don't even know if, I mean I know you saved him for last but I honestly don't know if any anybody can top Luke's story and this series is definitely in my top 5!  I just I'm so captivated and reeling right now and you can best believe my review will be just as good I hope I have no words except,  THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful gift with the world and mainly that I got to read it because FUCK me it was amazing A. MAZ. ING.  please! please! please! please! please! whatever you do never ever ever stop writing because no matter what,  like you said even if you never ever ever hit the best sellers list and Fuck I don't know how you wouldn't but Nothing Else Matters besides the fact that you are a kick-ass writer that has once again captured my mind, my heart, my soul so thank you I know writers love to thank bloggers but honestly we're nothing without the stuff you give us so thank you!!!!!
So what is my rating you say?

I honestly don't even know where to begin with writing this review. There are no words I could possibly write that will do this book justice. It is no secret that I have loved all the books in this series and while I know this one is technically a standalone, I really think they should be read in order. Luke has been a big part of the previous books but especially the first one. I knew without a shadow of a doubt after reading the first book, Forsaking Gray, that I really needed Luke's story. Addy, the heroine in this book, is Livia's best friend and Luke being Gray's twin and also the man who saved Livia's life. Honestly, these two were written so well that I really felt like I knew these two. Luke wants Addy even though he thinks he is not good enough for her and Addy really wants Luke but tries really hard to fight that tooth and nail. These two are quite simply hilarious and even more than that they are absolutely perfect for one another. I love the banter between them and when they do give in it is nothing short of explosive. I could practically feel the heat pouring off the pages of this book. Each of the Colloway Brothers have a place in my heart but Luke is in the lead with who holds the biggest piece. I can not wait for Conn's book. I think, no I know, this series is one of my very favorites and ones I will read over and over again. Do yourself a favor and go pick them all up and get to reading. I guarantee these brothers will have a permanent place in your heart as well. This book really deserves way more than 5 AMAZEBALLS stars!!! Highly recommend!!

WOW! If I could give more than 5 stars I would give them all to Luke!
Living with his dark past and c=secrets has turned Luke hard and closed off to what he could have... LOVE from an amazing woman, Addy. His feelings of unworthiness are nothing compared to the need to have her, so he pursues her.
Addy has been in love with Like for a long time. So long that she has a hard time falling for other men. She has been burned and set aside so many times that she feels giving into to the one she covets over all and having him set her aside would break her beyond repair. Against it all she gives him the chance.
This story is so powerful and full of second chances that you will be beyond blubbery. You will be beyond heated at his dirty mouth. You will be beyond swooning at his gentleness and romantic gestures. No, Luke will own you after you read this. I know he owned me! After having read the first 2 books in this series I can honestly say that Luke is my favorite. The pain that he carried, The guilt he buried and the solitude he forced his heart into.. well it is simply amazing to read. Oh and lets not forget how much he loves his mother!!!
Yes Luke is my Favorite of the brothers and yes they are all hot and pure alpha men. But there is something in a man opening up to you and showing you that not only is he flawed beyond what yu imagined but his heart only beats for you and only you hold the secrets he has kept guarded for so long. You are the reason for his every breath and heart beat. You are his light, his color. Yeah I love Luke and no I am NOT sharing...jk!

Not even sure where to start with this review..... I have loved this series and was always insanely curious of Luke. What exactly is it about him that my mind seriously kept going back to Luke. So, needless to say, Ms. Kreig had some serious epicness to write because I just needed to know all that is Luke. She did NOT disappoint. She floored me and made my head spin so hard that I'm pretty sure my focus isn't back 100%. I found Addy to be the perfect woman for Luke. Without going into too much detail, I don't think that this book could have been as well written without Addy belonging to Luke. The writing flows excellently in this book and you find yourself being a part of the book. I loved that the characters from books 1 & 2 still had an important spot in this book but that they didn't overshadow Luke. This is certainly a must read and re-read! 5 stars all around

I don't know what to say.. that's how bad I am at the moment..
Can I just say..yes, please.. I want a man like this?! Lol
Luke is hot, tattooed, troubled past and choices that are heavy to shoulder , but underneath it all he is a great man..even when he can't see it.
Addy has a tendency of going for the bad boys and she is wise enough by now to know that nothing but heartbreak comes after..so she's not going to put herself through it again...but how can she resist the pull?
These two together are just explosive..crazy chemistry. .and it's impossible not to swoon for that man.
Now that's where I stop..read and find out what happens. .cause a lot happens ;)

This was a sweet, steamy read with a little drama but lot's of sexy, dominant alpha that borderline's on caveman, and a relatable heroine that is feisty but still sweet and caring. I love this author's writing! Her writing always reads smoothly and keeps you engaged. I love the that she always involves the H or h family. It just makes the story even more well rounded. At the end I always am always left completely satisfied. What else to ask for while reading the perfect steamy romantic story?

See review for book 4, but reading the same sexual positions and "male" POV. A lot of taking the heroine(s. of all three books) hard and fast in the same positions. Maybe I shouldn't have read all the brothers in one block. No, I know I shouldn't have.

“But I’m not looking for a relationship; I’m looking for a good fuck. I’m looking for oblivion.”

From the first moment I have read about Luke, he already had an impact with me. Strong character, very dark surrounding him, and intense. More intense than the other brothers. I was hesitant to start reading his book because I had expectations, and I don’t want to be disappointed. But disappointed I am not.

I knew I like Luke from the get go. He was an asshole, and embodies trouble to a T but I just fell in love more and more with him. His intensity, his attention to detail, and everything he does, most especially his tats. Such a sweet, sweet man in a way that isn’t sweet at all, that imperfectly perfect fictional character you’d just love.

Getting to know Addy was such a surprise. She wasn’t really what I expected to be but she was also a likeable character. And I’ve never hated her nor been angry with any decision she did. She was passionate with her work and with the people she love.

“If I have a plunged into such an enchanted place, please don’t wake me. Fuck the real world. I want to stay right here. Forever.”

I love how the writer writes in such a way that captured my attention from the start through the end. It’s like an addiction that once I started, I wanted more and more. Kudos to such a great work, and for the story itself. For what the character went through and how they have faced and lived their lives. It touched and warmed my heart in a way that just tugs at my soul and makes me ached for a Luke.

I was glad I’ve met Asher, and never been more grateful to be able to read the rest of the Colloway Brothers. I can’t wait to read Con’s story and surely, I’ll want more.

This story for me is all about us being human. We had made mistakes, and some more than others are so great they seem unforgivable, but it’s how we’ve become and shaped us to who we are. The important thing is, every action, no matter how small or big, have made an impact that lead us to what we are thankful now. The other thing is being the first. Finding a love that will make us their first priority.

If you’re looking for a contemporary read about second-chances, an all-consuming love with a tatted hot guy who don’t know what a Louboutin is but is willing to make a woman happy, mistakes and absolution, then this book is definitely for you. One hot and intense read.

Existing perpetually.
Everlasting, especially without significant change.
Long lasting or nonfading.
In other words, forever.
Forever.
For keeps.
Till hell freezes over.
Permanently.

Stand alone novels in the series. I advise to be read in order though.

“I feel like I’m diving head first into the shallow end of the pool. There are warning signs posted everywhere, but I ignore them, taking the dangerous plunge anyway, praying I don’t hit bottom, ending up paralyzed.”

“Riding the rails of hope is like being on a rollercoaster. The g-force is intoxicating for those few short seconds; then the ride is over and the rush is left behind on the ground far below. Each time you ride it, the thrill is short lived, but damn it…you’re addicted now and you want to do it over and over again just to get that heady feeling one more time. Luke is hope. Luke is my rollercoaster. One I’ll surely crash and burn.”

Broken Characters: Check. Sexy, Determined Alpha Male: Check. Friends to Lovers Story-line: Check, Check! Luke’s Absolution checked all my boxes for a great read and then some. Luke’s Absolution is the third book in the Colloway Brothers series, but it can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

From the moment I picked up Luke and Addy’s story, I was hooked. Luke has a lot of demons and regrets in his life. His slate is anything but clean. He thought he knew everything he wanted out of life, until he met Addy. Addy is sweet, innocent and has the worst stubborn streak. He knows that he’s wrong for her and will taint her, but he can’t help but be drawn to her. And even though he knows he’ll never be what she deserves, he will stop at nothing to make her his….Addy has been in love with Luke for as long as she can remember. But, Addy has been burned so many times in her life. She wants a man to put her first for once. So, even though she’s been in love with Luke for as long as she can remember, Luke is a bad boy and she’s not ready to let this bad boy have her heart. What she didn’t count on was Luke’s stubbornness and determination. Will Luke be able to wear Addy down and make her take a chance on what she’s always wanted? Will Luke find peace and get the HEA he’s always needed?

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It pulled me in from the very beginning. It was so easy to fall in love with Luke. He’s damaged and broken and 100% alpha male. I couldn’t help but find myself rooting for him to get the girl. I loved how determined he was and how he never gave up on Addy; no matter how many times she tried to push him away. And Addy…I just loved her. I found her very easy to connect with. I loved how stubborn she was and how she didn’t just give into Luke. I appreciated that she made him prove to her that she was the one he truly wanted. I loved the chemistry that these two shared. Their connection was not only instant, but it was scorching. Their push and pull was so strong. I couldn’t wait for these two to give into the passion they shared and let me tell you, it was so worth the wait.

Luke’s Absolution is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I have to tell you, I can not wait to read more! She has given me a wonderful read with intriguing characters. This story and the characters are impossible to not fall in love with. And by the time you finish, the only complaint that you will have is that the story is over.

Oh dear, this was an anticipated next-book-in-the-series read that's left me rather disappointed. I really wanted to know Luke's story way back from Forsaking Gray, where the twists and turns, especially those that included Luke, kept me riveted. I loved Forsaking Gray, and Luke really intrigued me so I expected huge things for his book. He was the dark and silent protector, the hot takes-no-prisoners alpha and I was clamming for his book.

I'm in the minority with all the great reviews and ratings, so I guess it's a case of it's not you, it's me but sadly Luke's Absolution didn't live up to my expectations. Instead of a nail biting story that I expected, I got a lot of repetitive inner monologue for the majority of the book. This went into fine detail how he wasn't good enough for Addy, and how Addy was scared she wasn't good enough for him and that he was going to walk away from her. It did my head in because it went on and on ad nauseum with nothing else really happening.

Then there was the relentless push and pull trope (huge pet peeve for me). Luke turned himself inside out to prove to Addy he was in it for the long haul, did she clue in? Not a chance! I struggled to connect with the characters, and I just couldn't warm to Addy. Luke's trying too hard got a bit old too. When I read a romance I need to believe in the relationship, in this case I didn't.

But what really put the kibosh on things is that Luke's entire life (and that of his family) was affected in such a cruel and life-changing way all due to . No. Just no. There was also another plot twist at the end that I saw coming that didn't work for me, Bearing in mind all this didn't happen until the last 20% of the book, it was too little, too late to pull things back for me.

I don't know how to start this review because I was truly left speechless by this book- and that doesn't truly happen often. Already a big fan of this author's work, I must say that this is her best book yet. The characters jump off of the page, and the chemistry between them sent arcs of electricity shooting from my Kindle.

Luke has a dark past, having done things that he feels are unforgivable. He uses his body as a canvas for tattoos to tell his life's story of struggle and darkness. Luke looks like sex on a stick, the bad boy everyone's mother says that you should stay away from. Luke is drawn to Addy but is afraid to "taint" her (supposed) innocence with his demons.

Addy (who is Luke's sister-in-law's best friend) has learned the hard way that it is easier to build walls than to be abandoned and mistreated. She is a spitfire, an artist full of life, spirit, and color. She is stubborn and feisty and atypical of the "woe is me" doe-eyed female that is often the heroine of contemporary romance novels (which is one of the many reasons that I love her and this book).

Luke and Addy gravitate towards each other, constantly drawing together and pushing each other away in a beautiful and organic relationship that tests their ability to deal with their pasts and move into the future. I would love to write more but I will not give away any spoilers- you'll just have to read it for yourself.

FYI, KL Kreig's books are free with Kindle Unlimited.

Another amazing book in this series. I thought Gray and Asher were hit but Luke was just amazing. Here is a guy who thought he was just this bad guy in and out but all the things he has done showsus what a truly good guy he is. I can't wait for the last brothers book, but at the same time it makes me sad to realize that will be the end of this series.

This book can be read as a standalone, but it is best to read the series from the beginning. Luke is amazing! He has a very caring heart, and refuses to give up on something that he wants. There are certainly some surprises in the book that you would not expect. I can't wait for Conn's story!

This was the book I was waiting for in this series since I read Livia and Gray’s story. I was really curious about the big secrets Luke was holding and wanted to find out more about his dark past. I thought there will be some very complicated and drama-packed history there, but sadly this didn’t live up to my expectations. The pacing of the story was relatively slow and I was losing patience at some places. It wasn't a bad book, per se. It was a nice story, overly sweet at places with some drama thrown here and there for effect, but I just couldn’t feel the connection between the characters, nor the emotions they went through. Most of the big revelations that happened in the story were pretty obvious to me and I guessed them early in the story so the element of surprise didn’t work for me.

Having in mind all the things that happened in book 1 with Livia and the story there I was expecting more emotions in that direction, but surprisingly Luke’s feelings seemed to have disappeared and he instantly fell in love with Addy. This part just seemed a bit unrealistic for me and I couldn’t quite believe in the sincerity of his feelings. He was professing his undying love for her too soon in the book and that just didn’t sit right with me considering his past. Addy, on the other hand, was an interesting character and her insecurities and fears were relatable. I really loved her feistiness and how she didn’t put up with his shit and stood her ground around him.

Most of the things in the story were too cliché and predictable IMO, but it was a nice, cute story. I had greater expectations for Luke’s past and thought this story would have some action and suspense due to the work he was doing and his criminal past, but sadly, nothing like that happened in here. I can’t say I have the full picture of what exactly he was doing for the crime boss and how he managed to extricate himself from this situation, but anyway…

Sweet, maybe a bit too sugarcoated story if you are in the mood for something similar, but just don’t expect anything suspenseful or too complex in terms of story. The writing was good and I like K.L. Kreig’s storytelling. It’s just the story itself that didn’t work for me this time since I was expecting something completely different from this book. But it could very well work for you.

There comes a time as a reader when you find an author that ticks every single box of what you are looking for. For me, KL Kreig is that author. From the very first pages of this book, KL Kreig drews me into a mindfield of sexual tension, longing and raw need. Her words are expertly woven to draw you in and invest you in the story in under 5 pages.

I have to admit that I have been eagerly awaiting Luke's book since I met him in book 1. I was intrigued by the blend of ultimate bad boy with a heart of gold who is not afraid to go after the girl he wants while being willing to wear his heart on his sleeve. And man was I ever delighted by him in this book. The way that he was able to switch from being dirty and delicious to sweet and delicious had me wanting to grab him and keep him all for myself. What I loved most about his character is his firm belief that he was always doing the right thing by his family but ended up on a path that took him through the depths of darkness before finding himself and the light.

Addy's fight against her attraction to Luke is a product of circumstances. Too many times she has been second best, not good enough and coming out as the loser in love. She knows in her head that Luke will destroy her but she is just not able to get her body and heart on board with the plan. I loved her own personal journey throughout this book, parallel to Luke's. She had to overcome some major hardships to be able to trust in herself and love again. That she was able to find peace through the strength gained through love is a testament to the awesome relationship between this pair.

What I love most about KL's alphas, and is demonstrated beautifully with Luke in this book, is that while there might be a bit of trepidation in the beginning, her men play for keeps. Throughout this story, once he accepted that Addy was his, Luke was not shy in demonstrating nor coming to terms with the fact that for him Addy was his forever girl. It is for this very reason that I swooned at the actions of Luke throughout this book. If you want an alpha that can't see past his girl from the moment he lays eyes on her, then you want to read this book.

There is no denying the spark between this pair. Even when they are dancing around each other, the innuendo and sinful promises are enough to turn you inside out with desire. I have to say that some of the scenes where so hot that I almost needed a cold shower. And let me tell you that I will forever more look at ice pops a different way.

And let me tell you, I am typically one to cry about what is happening in a book. But there was one moment with Luke that had tears escaping my eyes. I felt every bit of emotion of what was happening in that scene and there was no denying that it was all because of KL's innate ability with words.

Once again, KL wove a spellbinding web around me with her words. Her ability to capture and invest me in her story and characters mesmerizes me each time and especially with this book. I find that her words flow into one another so effortlessly that I didn't even realise I was turning the pages so quickly. I cannot wait to see the last Colloway brother fall. I think it will be possibly be the hardest crash yet. But I do know that KL has cemented her place as one of my fave authors. Readers who love alpha's with hard exteriors and soft centres all mixed with dirty talk and even dirtier moves will love this and all the books in this series. Not to be missed.

description

This was the third book in the Colloway brothers series and while each book has been fantastic and had me hooked, this was the book I was most looking forward to reading, and now that I have, I am just so very happy to have been introduced to these wonderful characters.

Luke Colloway was considered for a long time to be the black sheep of the family. When he was a teenager he got into some trouble and went down a bad path that caused a huge rift between him and his family. He has been apart from them for years until recently. Reuniting with them also brought back into his life someone else from his past, Addy Monroe. She is his best friend's little sister who he hasn't seen in years and who he never forgot about but seeing her now, all grown up, he is thrown by the beautiful woman she has gown into and he knows that she is the woman for him. Addy remembers Luke, and thinks him to be just like all the other bad boys of her past. The love 'em and leave 'em type. She is fully ready to write him off as such, despite the intense attraction between them, but Luke isn't having that and he is determined to show her that not only is he not like the men of her past, but he is the man who is meant to be her future. She just has to decide if she can ever let down her walls, not to mention over come the demons of Luke's past to find their happy ending.

From the moment that Luke was introduced in book 1, I could not wait for his book. I had already seen so many different yet wonderful sides to him that not only did I want to know more about him, but I desperately wanted him to get his happily ever after. He is such a good guy and willing to do the truly hard, some might think soul staining things necessary to protect those he cares for. He is absolutely my favorite Colloway brother and just moved into top spot for my book boyfriends. He has such a huge heart and proves he knows how to make a woman feel truly loved.

I loved Addy as a leading lady and I loved her for Luke. She was feisty and independent, and also showed what a huge heart she had so often through out this series that she just grew on me more and more. She had a tenancy to pick the wrong types of guys and didn't feel she could trust her own judgement in that department. But she couldn't resist Luke. He literally would not let her.

Watching their journey to overcome her past heartbreaks and his demons was an emotional but wonderful experience. This was another amazing book by this author and while I am eagerly looking forward to the final Colloway brother finding his true love, K.L. Kreig created secondary characters that I also look forward to reading about and hope they might get their own book or at least to know if they find love themselves. I recommend this book and this entire series as an absolute must read.
