Tons of great vision for raising kids who love God and love others with passion and competence. All of the principles are well explained, come with good anecdotes, and provide really practical advice on how to implement. It’s full of creative, biblical intentionality for parenting.
The one reason I didn’t rate this 5 is because it left me a bit exhausted ... the way they run seems so overwhelming and I didn’t get the sense their lives had any margin at all. I’m amazed at the discipline and intentionality of the Seiberts. Intense! Some of it didn’t seem replicable. I suppose what i mean is, i admired them throughout the reading, was challenged by it in lots of ways, but I wasn’t always left with a sense of empowerment like “i can do that too”.
Still there’s TONS to glean. My attitude is to take small steps toward the bigger goals and start implementing what I can. As the father of a 2.5yo boy, I’ve begun taking more intentional action to train him to have quiet time... and there’s been a lot of receptivity! Excited to implement more and more of the wisdom of this book as the years go on.
A good book inside the life, rhythms, and perspective of a Godly family on how they committed to raise their kids to be full of purpose and not stuck in the pitfalls of perfectionism. This book details their strategies and the 'why' behind certain choices they made in the journey. It is a wonderful perspective that focuses on how they see God does family with us, and how being intentional, present, and your child's greatest source of affirmation made the world of difference in their own kids (And they believe make the difference in all kids with their parents.) I recommend this book!
