For two thousand years, a betrayer has occupied the throne on Olympus. Hungry for power, he has wreaked havoc among the gods, as well as the humans on earth. But a spark of hope ignites in the form of four young women—ones who are destined to free the true king and save the human world. Two have been found, and the others must be located before it's too late.
Drakōn would love nothing more than to turn his back on the whole thing. It's not that he doesn't care about humans, but he has his own world to worry about. But then, he is given an impossible task—one he finds himself unable to refuse. He is charged with protecting a woman, but not just any woman—Tana, goddess of wind and fire.
Tana is more than he bargains for. Sentenced to an eternity of imprisonment for burning hundreds to death in a fiery inferno, she has powerful enemies. Drakōn finds himself facing off with those adversaries even as he questions why he doesn't simply destroy her himself. But Tana is one of four destined to save the world. That is, if she doesn't destroy it first. And Drakōn? He may just lose his most guarded possession. His heart.
Holly Kelly is a wife, mother of six, author, editor, former English teacher, and daydreamer. Holly spent her childhood in a small town in Kansas reading, climbing trees, tumbling across her front yard, and swimming daily at the local pool where she spent her time pretending to be a mermaid.
When she was a young teen, she and her family moved to Texas (where she discovered how much she hated the heat), and then, during her senior year in high school, they moved to Utah. Despite living in the desert, Holly's fascination with the ocean grew. Before graduating from high school, she decided she wanted to be a marine biologist. This led to her attending college in Hawaii. She adored her time there swimming in the blue waters and studying the marine life, but missing her family had her returning to the mainland.
While attending college at BYU in Provo, Utah, she met and married karate teacher, James Kelly. Holly and James then welcomed six amazing children into their home. Between diaper changes and late-night feedings, Holly decided she wasn't tired enough. She began writing a novel, which she did between 3 and 6 AM every morning (before the kids woke up). Several years and four completed novels later, CTP Publishing offered her a contract to publish Rising, and the rest, they say, is history! Holly now has seven published novels, including the first book in a trilogy that released in September 2024. She also has several published short stories, all of which you can read on this website by clicking here.
Holly now spends her time writing young adult, paranormal books, freelance editing, and working on her master's degree in Creative Writing. Oh, and don't forget reading! She's always reading!
I can't believe that this series is over. It's definitely a bittersweet kind of moment right now.
Raging focuses on Tana and Drakon. However, people from the previous books do appear in this one as well. Tana and Drakon are both powerful and dangerous. However, not in the same way. Just knowing about those little tidbit facts of them.. well, I still shipped the crap out of it. Drakon and Tana were adorable together. He the only one who could calm her down. Which of course is any kind of love I can get behind.
I enjoyed the crap out of this book. The pacing was so good that I couldn't put the book down. I honestly just wanted to see how this series was going to end. I do wish I got more love than I got though. Kisses here and there were cute but I was just expecting something more.
Overall, it was good. I really enjoyed everyone coming together to defend the humans and gods. I loved reading about these mermaids and I can totally see myself rereading this series again and again.
Extraordinary ending to an excellent series. When I closed the book, I felt totally satisfied. All the loose ends were tied up, and I had that glowing happily-ever-after feeling I like to have when I finish a series I've spent four books reading. Thanks, Holly, for a great read. This is a series I hope to see on the big screen.
I have been reading and reviewing this series since the beginning. This is the final book in this Rising series and I'm both happy and sad to see it ending. Resolution always feels good and that's what this last book brought me but it's always sad to come to an end of something that you've loved reading.
This book focuses on two main characters (Tana and Drakon), but everyone from previous books makes appearances here along with a few new minor characters. Tana is powerful and dangerous. So is Drakon, but in different ways. I love how he has the ability to calm her fire. Literally. Of course he has to love her. She would fry anyone else and that would just be sad.
The conflict comes to a climactic explosion and brings everyone together to defend the humans and gods alike. It was fun and fast paced. I will miss this overlap of the world I know and the world of mythological gods and underwater beings.
I'm looking forward to what comes next from Holly Kelly. I'll be on the lookout!
If you haven't started this series yet and you would like to, the first book, "Rising", is free on Amazon right now.
Content: Clean (some kissing and some violence)
I received this book from Clean Teen Publishing for my honest review.
I was reading this, waiting for the epicness of the first 3 book to shine through and was greatly disappointed. The book was entertaining and had all the cool aspects of the first 3 but it was lacking. I feel as though the author should have either written a longer book or added a 5th to the series. I believe it would have made a huge difference.
All my favourite characters were back and everyone was working together to save the world but it all felt so rushed. Then all of a sudden we have new relationships and new characters that play major roles and a solution to the main threat just fell so flat.
It was a good story it just felt unfinished. I didn't feel like the end of a series is supposed to feel. Still check it out and tell me if I'm wrong. I maybe, everyone reads a different story after all.
The gripping conclusion to the Rising series definitely does not disappoint. For me this series has gone from strength to strength and I feel that Holly Kelly has done an amazing job wrapping this up in a very satisfying way. As with the end of all series I have mixed feelings that the finale has arrived but as I turned the last page I can say that this "felt" finished, something that doesn't always happen for me.
Holly Kelly s Raging is a masterpiece that had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath with all the twists and turns around each corner. This series from the beginning was amazing but Raging was taken to a whole new level of O.M.G. exciting. I loved this book and so will you.
I have really enjoyed this series and I did enjoy the book. My biggest hang up is that she seemed to stuff two books into one. Everything felt much more rushed compared to the other books.
Most Epic finale EVER!!! I will say this. Holly Kelly is one of the best authors ever! She describes the gods, the underworld, and everything so vividly you can see it as you read! So many can't do that. This book we find out who the True King is ans where he is. I loved the part where the Fates, actually bow to Sara. (They are tough broads and never bow to anyone.) I loves this entire book! And I can't describe how jam packed with action and adventure this book is. One thing though in the end. All the women really show just how strong of goddesses they are. Especially Sara and her mom. This book ended perfectly. I cried and laughed.
This book will touch part od your soul and stay there. I feel I have such a connection with all the characters. Thank you Holly Kelly for this adventure
An action packed ending to a series that I binge read in less than a week. Yes, I stayed up late reading each and every book in the series because my curiosity about the plot lines was so high that I couldn’t sleep until I found out what happened next. I loved each of the main characters from the four books. I was rooting for them and wanted them to succeed on both their individual and around quests.
Note: For full disclosure, I was given a copy of this book by an acquaintance of the author. However, I feel that my rating of this book was not influenced by that, as evidenced by the many sleepless nights I endured when reading this series. :)
This is a review on the series as a whole. I really enjoyed these books and they would definitely be something I would read again in the future. I liked how the characters evolved. I read the first book because of the mer concept and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the Greek mythology in the other books and even the other Gods And Goddesses. The last book tied everything together into a nice ending and all the other characters joined in the last half of the book.
Wish there was another one🙁 So sad it's over. Great series, I felt like I was there in every scene watching a tv series or movie. There were so many characters that I did have to take a moment to remember who was who in a few parts but that made it great too. All the characters from each book transferred to the next. Great story!
This was a super fun, clean series. I really enjoyed all the mythology and thought it was a fun twist on the mermaid tale this series started out with. Loved the conclusion and how it ties everything together. Nicely done!
I must say, I enjoyed this book pretty much. The conclusion was really epic. I’m still amazed, how complex was the story and the ending. Couldn’t been better! I loved the main characters, Tana had really ruff life and I found myself nearly in tears at least few times. But... here comes the big but! I think the story was little bit chaotic in the scenes with a lot of characters. It was confusing as hell. But the rest of it? The rest was so cool I’m still amazed. Really good series with epic finish. I couldn’t ask for more. (Maybe just for more books about this breathtaking world.)
I loved everything about this book from how it tied all the characters together to the story and adventure of it all. From page one I was hooked and didn't want to stop reading until I was through, therefore finishing it in less than a day. Holly is a great writer that knows how to target her audience and I highly recommend reading this book as well as the whole series if you haven't started it yet.
I love how she melds and blends the characters...Greek gods, sea creatures, humans, and the mix between. I know they managed to free the forgotten king, but I almost would like to see one more book playing out the ending...the Zeus hiccup and them getting the job done and the happily ever after...lol! LOVE THE SERIES
Great book to conclude a magical and mythical packed series! Original characters meet new friends and new loves. This entire series is filled with clean romance, adventure, magic, mythology, suspense and a great storyline that keeps you hooked and keep saying just one more page!
Book 4 of the series. Wow. I didn't think that this last book would be as good as it was. Talk about a happily ever after. These books are good, clean books for teens (and adults, too). Uplifting, easy reading!
This was a great series and I really liked this series final. There were a few pacing issues for me in the beginning, but it quickly hooked me. I would recommend this series to anyone, especially if you like mermaid-type stories.
I was bummed that this was the last book in the series. I have to say that when I picked up the first book in this series, I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined it ending up here. I mean, it went from mermaids (excuse me, Dagonians) to Greek mythology and all sorts of twists and turns.
I was a little disappointed with this book because I felt like it was rushed. This is often the case in the last book of a series. All of it happened so quickly and people met and fell in love the day they met or first saw each other. I just felt like it was a little cheesy. And I'm all for happy endings and how it all worked out well, but it was just a little too happy and cheesy for my taste. It was just resolved too quickly. Like, a conflict would arise and be solved almost instantaneously. I felt like they needed to be drawn out a little bit more before a magical resolution. But all in all, it was well-written.
This was a great series and I'd definitely recommend reading it! It's clean with good characters and plot. It has all sorts of twists and turns that you'd never expect.
While it took me longer to read, due to some extra hours at work and holiday stuff, I really enjoyed this finale to the Rising series. I've really loved how all the characters end up intertwined. I also like how the "bad guy" of the story is someone you would never suspect. And how the seemingly "normal" people are actually pretty special.
There is a lot of back story that you really need to get from the previous three books, so definitely read these books in order. In the final book, we move on to Tana and get her story, but we also still see Sara, Gretchen, Nicole and all the others in this tale. It's pretty awesome to get so many of the side characters from previous books into their own story in the sequels. There is a lot of character and "world" building in this series and you really get drawn in.
I would recommend this series for any fans of mermaids, mythological gods and goddess, and paranormal romance.
