Yato is still trapped in the underworld and Izanami is doing everything in her power to prevent his escape. The only one capable of helping him now is his old nemesis Bishamon. Will she find it in her heart to rescue her hated foe? Or is there another way?
I would never have guessed starting the first volume of this series with flippant fantasy that it would end up struggling with such deep issues regarding self-doubt, shame, secrecy, family ties, death, loyalty, and how to live life as a good person.
This volume was lighter than the few previous ones, but enjoyable nevertheless. I also love the way the writer-artist puts a little something in the end and makes you want to read the next volume as well.
noragami belongs to one of my favourite anime of all time. and, what do we know about favourite anime? it takes a lot of time for them to release new seasons, apparently. i watched both seasons of this anime years ago and since then i have fallen in love with this world and the characters especially!! ( •⌄• ू )✧ yato, yukine and hiyori are just precious and have to be protected at all costs.
so, since there are no signs of a new anime season (or at least nothing i have heard of) i decided to start reading the manga from where the anime ends. i actually never do that because while i appreciate the hard work of manga artists and their amazing talent i just found out that i prefer watching anime over reading manga. sorry!! 。
this volume is still part of the anime, though and i read it to jog my memory a bit. it helped a lot! the manga was just as epic as the anime episodes and i am a big fan of the mangaka's art style. the plot twist caught me off guard and that although i have already watched this!
i'm really looking forward to reading the next volumes and finally, after all this time found out what happens after the end of the anime. meanwhile, i'll also use my last 5 yen to make a wish so that the producers of the anime continue producing new episodes. 💸
DAMN! The father reveal! I WAS RIGHT! Little Ebisu is so cute, and I’m glad that, since it seems like Yato is adopting him as his own, he’s gonna be around a lot. As always, I’m very proud of all three of my kids. This series is just superb. Actually, this volume is probably my favorite so far. AND this is where the anime stops and the new (for me) stuff begins and I cannot be more excited!
Reading Noragami is like eating a hearty feast. Each turn of the page is like taking a bite of excellent food. The problem with Norgami is that it’s so heavy and rich. This is a series where if you binge it, it’s okay but you don’t get how rich and deep it truly is.
This has a lot of plot twists and “gasp what’s gonna happen next,” especially in this arc. I really like this series. It’s just so exquisitely done.
Yato!! Teaching the children bad things lol. I'm loving learning more about him and I especially love when the panels show him as a child and it shows his loneliness and he's need for acceptance. It makes me want to cry.
Now that there's some drama among the gods the story is getting more interesting. I'm guessing our initial conflict with Hiyori won't get fixed until closer to the end? I'm starting to really like this series.
Good volume!!! I liked the conclusion to this arc. The scenes between baby Ebisu and Yato, Yukine and Yato were excellent! the art, THE ART! Gorgeous stunning effervescent
As the Yomi arc wraps up, we get more insight into Yato and his past. He's worried that if Yukine and Hiyori know the truth about what kind of god he truly is/was, that they would want to have nothing to do with him. There is a moment when he even admits that he didn't want to stop killing people as a god of calamity, which gave me pause. Yato says that he does not want to be a god of calamity; he says he wants to be a god that brings happiness to people. But, does he really? Is he able to shake off the shackles of his "father" and move forward with Yukine as his guide? I enjoy this kind of story where our hero wants to be better than he is, but for every step forward, he takes a step or two back, that things don't come as easily as they often do in stories, but more like how it is in real life. His complex relationships with Yukine and Hiyori continue to develop in interesting ways. Noragami is definitely my kind of shonen! Highly recommended.
I liked the second half of this volume much more than the first. The first part is dealing with Yato and Bishamon still fighting in the Underworld. The second part is Yato out of there and trying to get back to his life.
While all the fighting was cool, I'm dumb as shit and I didn't understand what was even happening. It was a lot going on and I was confused.💀
It was also sad oh my god. Ebisu has died and been replaced so Yato takes the new one out to get a meal at the place the last one wanted to go. When gods die and are reborn, they don't have the memories of the previous ones but Yato still tries to get him to remember him.
Yato getting emotional dealing with this situation went hard, and when he was finally dealing with his stray. Personally I'm bummed out he got a new tracksuit because goddamn he was serving looks in Kazuma's borrowed clothes.
Yukine and Hiyori are the cutest ever and Yato jumping on them had me crying in the club. That's his family and he really wanted to get back to them.😭
When I realized what that reveal in the last chapter actually meant??? Gagged me.
