AmarA was born and raised in the Twilight Zone (though she did not realize it) on a steady diet of Star Trek and amid a constant influx of classic books from Anne of Green Gables and Ramona to Mark Twain and Jekyll & Hyde.

She studied acting through adolescence (Meisner mostly) and discovered the world behind the stage lights which transformed her into a scenic designer, painter, and sometime costumer.

Traveling led her to explore using her skills to illustrate, to help shy young men propose to their beloved ones, to brand and to entertain.

She has been writing continually since her first Star Log journal in 1990. AWAKE: A Vampire Tale is her first novel.

I wrote it, so here I tell you that, for what it's worth, I love reading this book. It amuses me. It surprises me. I snicker and I cry at certain sections. It is riddled with obscure references and references it's own obscurity in the end. It leans on brilliant men to speak beyond on it's own voice. It entertains and the illustrations create a world in the underground and darkness of Seattle.

**I was asked by the author to read and review this book. I received a copy though Kobo that was free.**

I am going to admit something here that might put my love of vampire novels to shame, however, this novel read how I wish an Anne Rice novel would read.
When you think of newly awakened vampires, I’m sure ravenous and uncontrollable beast springs to mind but not for this new vampire. Her ability to resist is strong. Her maker leaves her to fend for herself at first, which was an interesting turn of events.

I wrote the thing and then put it away for a few years while I continued with my regularly scheduled life, occasionally punctuated by rejection emails from publishers. When I digitally dusted it off, I was as surprised as anyone to find myself drawn in by the tale, turning the pages, and reticent to be torn away from it.

It is a good book. It is a good tale. It is worth a read, even if you usually do not do vampire books.
