Shōtarō Ishinomori (石ノ森章太郎) was a Japanese manga artist and cartoonist. Known as the "King of Manga", he is regarded as one of the most influential manga artists of all time.
This is still held back by its Shonen-esque emphasis on battle after battle although this is still likely to appeal to anyone who wants less talk and more fighting. Real gem in this collection is the final side story about a "Phantom Dog" (not sure why, it's not a phantom at all...) which brings in a slightly more complicated emotional depth to the comic hitherto lacking. It's short though and represents a style I suspect will be left behind in the next volume.
