Jade Parker, who also writes as Lorraine Heath and Rachel Hawthorne, is the daughter of a British beauty (her mother won second place in a beauty contest sponsored by Max Factor® during which she received a kiss from Caesar Romero-who played the Joker on the old Batman TV series) and a Texan who was stationed at Bovingdon while serving in the air force. Lorraine was born in Watford, Herts, England, but soon after moved to Texas. Her "dual" nationality has given her a love for all things British and Texan. She enjoys weaving both heritages through her stories.
When she received her BA degree in psychology from the University of Texas, she had no idea she had gained a foundation that would help her to create believable characters—characters that are often described as “real people.” She writes for both adult and young adult readers. She received a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award for Americana historicals. Her novels have been recognized with a RITA, Romance Writers of America’s most prestigious award for excellence, a HOLT medallion award honoring outstanding literary fiction, a Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice Award, five Texas Gold Awards, the Golden Quill Award, the Rising Star Award as well as other awards and recognitions. Her novels have been selections of the Doubleday and Rhapsody Book Club. Her novels have appeared on bestseller lists, including USA Today, Waldenbooks, and most recently, the New York Times.(less)
My least favourite out of the trilogy, but I still enjoyed it and am happy with how the things were brought to a close. Whitney was a lovable character who already grew on me in the Robyn book. A lovely ending to a cute teen summer series I liked to be part of during these hot summer days, it was so fun and easy to read :)
I liked this book the best out of the three since Whitney really changed the most over the summer at the water park. With a wealthy father, privileged Whitney doesn't have to work. Her father thinks it will help her see the "real" world so here she is with her uniform on "working". As the summer goes on Whitney starts to see things differently. She starts to have pride and actually work, she makes friends and most of all she starts to trust those friends. After everything that happened to her with her last "friends" this is a huge step for Whitney. Caitlin is still dying to know the truth about Whitney but Whitney's being secretive, holding back. Can she confide in Robyn and Caitlin? Are they truly friends? What about Jake? She likes him but does he like her? Whitney is slowly coming around to wanting a real life instead of a privileged one where everyone agrees with her and does her bidding. But she doesn't know how to live that life....can she learn?
This was the third and last book in this little series. It was another cute story, but my favorite is still the first one. Its one of those book when our girls get to be tweens I will totally let and encourage them to read. They are just fun.
What a cute high school romance series. Just adorable. Glad I read them on vacation. Highly recommend if you enjoyed Wildfire and Sweet Valley High books from back in the the day
This is the third book in the series and it is the concluding story to the other two so read it if you have read the others and finally answer that question who is whitney. Setting the scene first job ever finally have a good friend who whitney sort of trust, starting to notice a boy around you while cutting down on ice cream since he moving it and then finding out that her nemisis is coming to her job. Then to top it off finding some unsettling things near the end of her father's actions.Oh and this is what the best is finding out who her dad is becasue even thought it is hinted through out the other two books that need for it to be said who he is is here. Compared to Jake, Caitlin, and robyn will marci with the i's ever stand the chance of makeing things worse. How will whitney handle her self and what are her thoughts. Being the only one unexperienced with boys she doesnt know waht to do when she is trying to be private since she doesnt trust well.Leaning so facts about life as a normal teen. I think people who read this book schould be poeple who like to finish a series, girl teens and people who like to see what life at a water park seems to be like.People who like fiction, romance and boys shoould read.see whitney try to have fun this summer even with all these problems. The font of this book is easy to read too if it bothers you like me sometimes.
Whitney is working for the summer at a water park. It's normal for most teenagers to have a summer job, except Whitney doesn't really need a job. Her Dad is a very wealthy business owner, but he thinks Whitney needs a "real life" experience.
Whitney is kind of enjoying her summer working at the water park. She's made a couple of friends, Robyn and Caitlin, and she has a crush on the very cute ice cream boy, Jake. When Whitney finds out that her ex-best friend, Marci, will be renting the entire park and throwing her sweet sixteen party, she's afraid that all her new friends will find out her secret!
WHITNEY is a very cute, quick read! It's perfect for a summer day. After being burned by her former friends, Whitney has big trust issues, and her Dad almost ruins it for her completely. I was glad to see by the end of the book that Whitney found the confidence in herself to realize that people might actually just like her for her.
I really enjoyed Ms. Parker's writing style and I will most definitely be picking up more of her books. I'm especially going to have to read the first two books in the MAKING A SPLASH series!
Winnie is finally going to be thirteen and she is pretty excited about it. She has her two bff’s, Cinnamon and Dinah and her bf, Lars.
But being thirteen has a lot more in store for Winnie than she initially thought. She loves her two best friends, although they couldn’t be more different. Winnie still remembers her old best friend Amanda and at times this makes things unsettling for Winnie. Then of course there is Lars. This is Winnie’s first "real" relationship with hand holding and her first kiss! But Lars is only human and he isn’t perfect as much as Winnie would like him to be.
This was a very cute book. I hadn’t read anything by Myracle before, but I enjoyed her look into the early-adolescent psyche. It isn’t easy being thirteen and this books displays the tribulations gracefully, but still makes a point. Even though I think this books is aimed more for the younger adult audience, I still enjoyed reading it, as well as the writing style of Myracle.
Another cute and fun finally this the "Making a Splash" series. I felt bad for Whitney during this book. I think the book was more about trusting that there are people who could like her for who she is and not that she has money or who her daddy is. Even though Whitney's character had annoying things about her in the previous 2 books in this final installment you get to find out why and find Whitney huggable and very likable.
So Book 3 and if you had been paying attention, you knew where this was going but it was a nice fun ride for the few hours it took to read. All ends well and the true meaning of friendship and boyfriends is demonstrated via the eyes of 15 year old girls!
At first, I didn't think this book would be good. But it's like going to a movie that turns out to be better than you thought. It's definitely worth keeping
