Terri Clark feels blessed to demonstrate her passion for young adult fiction as both a teen librarian and author. For as long as she can remember she’s been fascinated with the paranormal, so it’s little wonder her stories dabble in the dark and different. Her next book, Hollyweird , will be released May 8, 2012 with Flux Books and you can currently read her in the Hunger Games related anthology The Girl Who Was On Fire from Pop Smart books. When I first saw a picture of this cover, I had now idea it was a suspense story, I thought it was another cute romance. So when I actually saw the book trailer, I was surprised. The book looked so good I had to give it a try, even though scary stories aren't my favorite. (Plus, there was a promise of romance, so I knew it had to have something I'd like!) I ended up loving it! It was a quick read that kept me up-(in a good way wanting to read more, not in an 'I'm so scared' kind of way) and it was full of suspense! Plus, there's a great romance between Trinity and Dan, who just so happens to be the son of the lawyer that got Rafe off on insanity. It was just a perfect blend for a scaredy cat like me. There's a lot about Trinity's dream walking gift that I'd like to know, so I hope Terri Clark writes more about Trinity. Plus, Terri Clark is a teen librarian-yay-and who better to write for teens than someone who works with them all day? (I especially loved that she had Dan and Trinity head to the library to do research!) I thought this was a good debut and I'd recommend it readers wanting some mystery and suspense with their romance.
It's a sweet dream or a not-so beautiful nightmare...from the author with all the comedic, heartwarming lines - Terri Clark - comes a story of a girl whose dreams are just left of wacky...because they come true. But maybe just this once she'll have to be open to the idea that they're there for a reason, and use them to bring Rafe, the murderous criminal, to justice. Whilst enjoying her summer, buying a new dress and finding a boyfriend of course.
Sleepless had a very cool premise to it. Trinity can basically "dream hop" and see the darkest most personal parts of people's lives. This leads her to seeing her friend, Kiri, getting killed by Rafe. The whole book revolves around Rafe and what happens after he is convicted of killing Kiri.
While the concept of the book was unique, the execution was poor. I never truly got a grasp of how Trinity's "powers" worked and what brought them on in the first place. The author touched on in a bit, but since it is what the whole book is surrounded by, I think it should have been explained more. Like knowing how Trinity happened to have dreamed of Kiri the night she was killed. Along with that, I wish we knew more about Kiri and got a flashback of Kiri and Trinity.
Then there was Dan. I liked him as a character, but again, he was just underdeveloped. He seems to show up out of nowhere and have this deep interest in Trinity. And of course, Dan and Trinity's relationship. It evolves so quickly and is way too insta-lovey for my taste. I usually don't mind that, but in this case, it felt like they were just brought together by Rafe. Besides that, they didn't have a great connection.
I also did not enjoy how the author completely jumped over parts and left it up to the reader to decipher what happened. There was one chapter in specific that started and it talks about this huge development between Trinity and Dan. It wasn't talked about in the previous chapter though, so I had to go back and double check to make sure I didn't accidentally skip over something.
Overall, I think this book had great potential but just needed to be executed better. I actually think it would benefit a lot by being longer and having more detail. Cool concept though!
COVER -- It is cute and simply showing a clothing for sleeping which is the main topic in this book.
CONTENT -- have you ever wondered if dreams are real? If you have dreamed about someone someone, would he or she be dreaming about you too at the same time and moment you do? Would dreams somehow be interconnected with reality? All of these are true in Trinity Michaels' world. She has the ability to sleepwalk through dreams that led her to solve a kidnapping case which also made her run for her life. With this power, whether asleep or awake, she was in danger. For me, this is really a unique concept because I have never read anything like it or even similar to it before. I actually love Trinity's power but too bad it comes with a price. It also gives the readers a few goosebumps since it will be targeting your psyche making you paranoid that Freddie Krueger might visit you in your sleep and who would you think will believe you that he's real when you are already dead. Haha. Just kidding and exaggerating the point. What kept the shiver and heat was the romance. Oh it was a roller coaster of bliss. knew that I was swooning over them when I was too engaged that I can't put it down. Good thing I did try to open this book because it was pretty good despite my poor judgment on the cover. In all honesty, I thought it would be the usual romance book--love that makes you sleepless, yada yada yada. But Sleepless is an understatement. It was a whole new twist and perspective on being sleepless. Oh and caffeine is badly needed!
Well how do I put this nicely..Oh Yeah! This book SUCKED! I AM SORRY BUT I CANNOT THINK OF ANY REDEEMING QUALITY FOR THIS BOOK! THE ROMANCE WAS LUKEWARM.THE PLOT WAS BORING AND I DON’T KNOW IT JUST DIDN’T GO ANYWHERE!!! So here goes. Trinity can dream walk. She helps catch a killer after dreaming about her friend’s death or something. Now the killer is after her. She obviously escapes him. Story over. Yup. Okay Am I being to harsh? Well I do like Trinity’s friendship with her bff Coral. They are like opposites. Trinity- Goth. Coral-Jock. But that lasts for just the first chapter. After than Coral goes to Camp and the fun goes out of this book. Also Lucid Dreaming is something I am extremely interested in since I experience it pretty often but even that couldn’t make me love this book. And Pop-culture references are littered throughout the book and usually that would have me all happy and skipping but even that felt flat here. I can only wish I had skipped this book. Recommended to people who like boring teen book. Also if you are fed up of the usual paranormal stuff dished out you could try this. But don’t .Oh Please don’t.

OK when I looked at the cover of this book I was thinking this would be a cute romance (which it does have a lot!) NOT a paranormal/suspense book.
Characters:
Trin: A awesome character, very cute and tough. I have to say I liked her very much.
Dan: HOT, and oh-so swoon-worthy, awesome!!! Oh and HOT.
Rafe: I would never want to be in Trin's position, this guy is a crazy psychopath!!! *shudders*
I have one complaint about this book. WHAT IS UP WITH THE COVER? I mean, really? She can dream walk! And she's being hunted down by a crazy psychopath killer! There has to be something better then PAJAMAS.
BUT. All in All this is an great book you have to read it, do not underestimate because of the cover. This book was a mix of Paranormal/Suspense and Romance.
Dreaming, for sure, is some section in our mind, we don't know all about. That's why it makes dreaming to become really interesting and ... sometimes even kind of supernatural.
I've never regret buying this book. Even if the summary doesn't seem to be thrilling, the story will get you hooked up on it. Trinity is not the average girl and some different kind of character with some extraordinary skills and that makes it interesting. Towards the end you get totally thrilled about the story. Terri's style of writing is really great and gives utterance to the book.
Woaah that was some ride. It's almost 5 in the morning and the title sleepless definitely reverberates what I am currently experiencing. Who knew a book's title can say soo much?!!
First of, don't judge this book by its girly pink pj's cover! It has more to offer than say sappy summer predictable romance...
A must read!! It's got romance and suspense well rolled into one ;-))
Read this a long time ago. I can't even remember much of what happend except her and her boyfriend got hurt in their dreams (more of nightmares) by some dude...

Sleepless by Terri Clark is a YA romantic thriller.
When Trinity Michaels sleeps, her subconscious mind picks up on peoples’ dark secrets. One year ago, a call for help came to her in one of these dreams, and while she could not stop the murder, her ability helped put the killer away so he could not cause further harm. But now the killer is loose, and he’s coming for Trinity in her dreams.
The premise of this book was intriguing, and while dream killers aren’t a new concept, I would say the author took this in a unique direction. There are some parallels to A Nightmare on Elm Street, but it didn’t feel like an Elm Street ripoff. The story is fairly suspenseful, and the romance angle adds some levity to an otherwise bleak situation. I also enjoyed the cultural references because they took me back to my teen days.
The romance felt a little forced. I think it would have served the storyline better had Clark built up Trinity and Dan’s relationship a bit first instead of forcing them together by circumstance. It makes sense that the nature of the situation deepened their relationship, but I don’t get why Trinity turned to Dan in the first place. If I was in peril, and my family/bestie were out of reach, I’d scan my acquaintance list before turning to the “enemy” hottie.
On the whole, though, I thought it was a good read. It kept my attention, and kept me turning the pages. If you like YA romance and thrillers, then you may want to check out this book.
cw: death, murder, death of a child, torture, asylum, violence, self-mutilation, blood
I seriously love this book. I read it when I was in my early teens - probably a decade ago. I remembered the storyline CRYSTAL CLEAR. It's truly the DREAM plot :) I wanted to read it over again but the problem in the past 10 years was, I couldn't remember the title for nuts. Typing some bits of the story plot in Google didn't quite help. I thought, if Google can't tell me anything, I probably won't be able to find it again. So I spent a sleepless night (very, very recently) troweling through GoodReads and looking into the book lists that this book could possibly be part of (Harperteen, thank you very much). So I finally! Managed! to find the book! Totally blessed my morning with such a good read. I loved Trin for her quirky gothic ways, and I loved Dan for loving and taking care of Trin and wanting to fight alongside her. That's what dream couples are made of! And I loved Coral for always always being on Trin's side even though she knows that Trin doesn't tell her everything. Nevertheless, Coral pushes Trin out of her comfort zone and encouraged her to live alongside her. Their friendship, truly the dream friendship. 10 years ago, I wished for a sequel to this awesome book, 10 years on, today, I still wish there's a sequel, talk about Coral and Trin's life in university. Just give me something more to read about Trin and Coral!
Short book that reminded me of The Mediator series but the world building was meh. Wish they explained more about dream-hopping/lucid dreaming/ why self harm gives the guy more power etc. holiday read.

This book was super good! I liked the romance of Trinity and Dan. It was so special but the end had me a little confused but I’m glad that Raf died 😝 at the end.

The pretty cover made me pick this book up in the first glance! It was no regular cosy chicklit but a rather interesting plot which was not narrated out so nicely!
The main character Trinitiy happens to have this power of lucid dreaming and can forsee things before they twist up!
The friendship between Trinity and Coral was wind up too soon and was the essential fun part which in my point of view should have stuck through out.
The chemistry between Trin and Dan was build up in air with no details whatsoever. It all felt deliberate as they quickly team up on the next page while being disgusted with eachother on the previous page.
Overall, the book could have been superb if it was not the jumping of plots and mismatched bricks placed to complete the story without any smooth flow.
Trinity Michaels isn’t your average eighteen year old. Actually she really hasn’t been normal since she first realized she had the ability to dream walk. While some think this may be a super cool power, Trinity believes it to be a curse and wants nothing to do with it.
Dream walking greatly affects Trinity’s life when she’s unable to save an abducted girl that she has been dreaming about. Although she is able to help the police capture the killer, Rafe Stevens, she is still deeply troubled by the fact that she wasn’t able to help save her. When Rafe is sent to a mental asylum though instead of to prison, because of his plea of insanity, Trinity knows she’s his next victim and not safe. However she knows nothing can harm her in her own home, until the night she has the worst dream of her life.
She now knows that Rafe has escaped and his revenge against her is coming sooner than expected. Now she must run for her life, fleeing not only from this dreaded man, but also from sleep, because Rafe somehow has the power to physically hurt her in her dreams. With help from an unexpected accomplice, Dan Devlin, the son of Rafe’s slime ball lawyer, Trinity tries to stay alive. Will Trinity allow Dan to help her, or will she turn her back on him (and her heart) just because of who his father is?
This book puts a whole new twist on freaky!! It truly captured my attention and had me with the covers up to my nose in fear of going to sleep!! Needless to say I loved the book and all aspects of it.
When I originally saw the book it looked a lot like one of those light summer beach reads. Well it’s not! It’s a full blown novel that keeps you on the edge of your seat and up until all hours of the night, just so you can find out what happens next. Terri Clark was really able to create a dark novel that kept you thinking “what if” and made you look at nightmares in a whole different perspective. She even mixed in some great romance, which made the book even better.
Trinity’s character was also very interesting. While she was your normal teen, with an issue here and there, it felt like she had the grief of an old woman. Everyday she dealt with the fact that she could have potentially saved that girl, but she didn’t and she truly despised herself for that fact, but then she really learns to accept that she did more than was ever expected. I really enjoyed seeing her accept the fact that there was nothing more she could have done and I think this really made her grow as a person. Also the author made Trinity’s fear drip off the pages and into the reader, making them feel just as afraid as Trinity, which was awesome!!
Overall the book was stellar. The author made the reader connect with the characters and the whole idea behind the story was extremely original and very compelling. I recommend this book for all fans of Lisa McMann’s Wake, and readers looking for a great book. I truly hope that a sequel is in the works as I am anxious to see what other adventures are in store for Trinity.
SLEEPLESS is not your everyday piece of fluff. Those picking up SLEEPLESS thinking it's a typical teen summer romance will be quite surprised. I know I was! SLEEPLESS may just keep you up all night trying to avoid your dreams!
Okay, I admit it, there is romance in this book, but that's not all that it's about. There's far more action and suspense going on beyond the attraction between Trinity and Dan.
It's the beginning of July and Trinity's best friend, Coral, is about to leave for soccer camp. It's the summer before they start college, and Coral has given Trinity an assignment for the remainder of the summer. Trinity is usually found in black. Coral tasks her with buying a BLUE dress during the summer, a promise to get out more, and to actually go out on a date. Trinity has no idea how she'll accomplish any of these, but she vows to keep her promise.
Coral leaves for camp and Trinity's mother leaves for a long-anticipated art trip to Europe. That leaves Trinity alone. And then the dreams start to come. Trinity has the unwanted media name "Dream Girl" stemming from the fact that others come to her in her dreams. A young girl, Kiri, came to her over a year ago. She asked for help, but in the end, Trinity and the cops were unable to save Kiri before it was too late. Her murderer, Rafe Stevens, was sent to a mental hospital rather than prison. Ever since she was unable to save Kiri, Trinity has tried to avoid her abilities and all reminders of the past.
But now the dreams are back, and she fears that Rafe has escaped from the hospital and is coming for her. Aided by Dan Devlin, the son of the defense lawyer that saved Rafe from prison, the two set off to find Rafe before he can find her. Rafe has developed the ability to enter other peoples' dreams and harm them in their sleep. Dan believes in her and wants to keep her safe. During the brief time they spend together, an immediate bond forms and they risk everything to finally put Rafe where he belongs.
SLEEPLESS calls to mind the Nightmare on Elm Street movie series. The action is just as fast-past and heart-pounding as any adult thriller you will encounter. I hadn't expected to have SLEEPLESS be such a pulse-pounding read, which was a really pleasant surprise. Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to reading SLEEPLESS, thinking it would be a nice teen romance, but it was so much more than that. Now, I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep easily tonight! I'll have visions of Rafe and the harm he tried to do to Trinity and Dan.
SLEEPLESS is Ms. Clark's first novel, and she's written a real winner. I eagerly await her future endeavors.
Note to reader: There is some violence and sexual situations in this story.
Trinity is a very unique girl with the ability to dream walk. Trinity doesn’t view this as a blessing; rather, she sees it as a curse. Because of this so-called “skill,” Trinity has to deal with a whole mess of everyone’s deep dark secrets that she’d rather not know. This has only affected her negatively, causing her to grow up faster than she wants to and be reluctant to make friends, not to mention making her like a freak. But there’s only one real thing that makes it the most difficult for Trinity to deal with her unwanted dreams: the fact that she knew a girl named Kiri was going to be murdered but couldn’t save her in time. The fact that she helped catch the murderer Rafe is no consolation for this. But now Trinity has far more important things to worry about, namely the fact that Rafe has escaped from the insane asylum he was wrongly placed in and is coming to kill Trinity – in her dreams. When she sleeps, nothing is sacred or safe, not even her own life.
Sleepless is a fast-paced and exciting debut from Terri Clark. There’s a perfect mix of mysticism, action, and even romance. Trinity was a funny and believable main character. While her school nickname “Goth Girl” didn’t seem completely fitting at all times despite the fact that Trinity had a preference for wearing dark colors, the rest of her character was very well-developed. I liked that Trinity could nearly always keep her head about her except when she was a little too close to a particularly hot guy; this is one of her qualities that made her so real. Sometimes Trinity’s relationship with Dan seemed a tad artificial because Dan was such a perfect fit for Trinity, but at the same time, it made the romantic part of this story all the more sweet. Trinity’s ability to dream walk never seemed fake or superficial, which is something I appreciated. Sleepless has a fantastic combination of suspenseful plot and credible characters to make an incredible story I wholly enjoyed.
Readers who liked Lisa McMann’s novel Wake are sure to enjoy Sleepless. Even if you haven’t read Wake but still like romance, action, and the supernatural, you should definitely check out this awesome story. I most definitely recommend this fast and fun read, and I hope that there will be a sequel or at least another novel by Terri Clark.
Plot: Trinity always has lucid dreams, and her dreams usually involve other people and their deepest, darkest secrets.
When a teen girl goes missing, Trinity dreams about her, and is able to tell the police exactly where to go. Unfortunately, by the time the police get there, the girl is already dead. But, they are able to catch her killer, Rafe.
Rafe claims insanity, and goes away to a mental institution. He escapes, and starts coming to Trinity in her dreams. The only problem is, if he hurts her in the dream, he hurts her in real life. And if he kills her in the dream, then she'll never wake up.
Trinity pairs up with an unlikely friend, and together they try to find Rafe before he finds them.
I really liked Sleepless, and it was even better the second time reading it. It was fast-paced, witty, and fun, while still keeping a creepy and suspenseful edge.
Characters: I loved (LOVED) the characters. They were extremely realistic, I could picture them in my head, and they made the story all the better.
Writing: I like the way that Terri Clark writes. Sleepless was narrated in first person, and let me tell you, Trinity was a great MC to get to go into the mind of. Sleepless was really exciting, and I'm especially impressed with it since it was a debut book.
Cover: The cover isn't that amazing, but it's not too bad, either. I like the simplicity of it, and how it's pretty distinguishable from other books. One thing that I don't like is the font used to write "Sleepless" --- I just don't think it goes well.
Lovely Line: For most people, dreams are nonsensical fantasies.
For me dreams are an intrusive, ugly reality.
And though I thought my worst nightmare had already happened, it was just about to begin. (Page 20)
The Final Verdict: I think Sleepless should have a lot more recognition than it does, because it's such a great read. If you haven't heard about this book before now, don't let that stop you from reading it.
I definitely recommend you go read this book. The perfect way to read this book, in my opinion, would be curling up under a blanket on a rainy day and immersing yourself in Trinity's world.
Terri Clark's debut young adult novel is a fast-paced, thrilling read.
Trinity Michaels has the ability to dream walk. It is ability that she doesn't want as it often leads to her seeing the darker side of people and their secrets. The worst by far was dreaming of Kiri the day after her parents reported her missing. Trinity was able to help the police find her but it was too late - she had already been murdered. Her killer, Rafe Stevens, was sent to a mental institution instead of jail. Now Rafe has escaped and he has developed the ability to invade people's dreams and mix them with reality. He is after Trinity in her dreams and if he kills her in her dreams she will die for real. At least Trinity doesn't have to face the danger alone as she finds an unlikely ally in Dan Devlin, the son of the lawyer who kept Rafe Stevens out of jail.
Terri Clark writes fast paced action and witty dialog that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. The novel is dark and twisted while also containing humor and even some romance. Clark peppers the text with contemporary references that today's teens will easily relate to. Her characters are interesting and dynamic with solid motivations for their actions. While there is no word currently about future books starring Trinity, Clark certainly leaves the possibility open.
Trinity's dreams are not her own. People come to Trinity while she sleeps and they tell her things she'd rather not know. Lucid dreaming they call it, but as far as Trinity's concerned it's a nightmare. She's tried to keep her so-called “ability” to herself. Her mother's known about it since Trinity was a child, but not even her best-friend knows the truth.
Trinity has always tried to hide from the knowledge she gets in her dreams, but when a murdered girl comes to her for help, Trinity can't back down. That was a year ago. Thanks to her, the police caught the man responsible, but thanks to his lawyer Rafe Stevens won't go to jail, but instead to a mental hospital. Now Trinity's dreams have taken a turn down a very frightening road. She's seeing images of torture, pain and pleasure. Trinity knows it's Rafe and she learns something else: he's coming for her.
SLEEPLESS is the perfect title for this debut from Terri Clark. You won't want to sleep, you'll be too busy reading. I was so desperate to see what would happen next that I tuned out the world. Trinity is a great character and I would love to see her and her friends again. I also love the whole dream aspect of the story. Dreams bring out some of our biggest fears and vulnerabilities and it's interesting to see this kind of take on them. It's also a different kind of paranormal which is always good to see. All I know is that from now on I'm keeping my eye out for more from Terri Clark and you should too.
My Review: Trinity has a ability. More like a curse actually. Whenever she sleeps she dreams about someone. To phrase it accurately she learns about people's deepest darkest secrets which she has no interest in. She wants to just have a normal life so when she is about to ignore her abilities a girl she met at Surf Camp comes in her dreams and tells her to save her Trinity has no choice but to do just that. Except she is late. The girl is dead. The killer Rafe was caught but after a year of this incident he is loose again. And now his next victim is none other than Trinity. Help comes from a place where Trinity wouldn't have thought about. Dan Devlin, son of the lawyer who helped Rafe get admitted in asylum rather than a jail. Hot, definitely! Trustworthy, Maybe? Can Trinity trust Dan to save her from the villain Rafe who has gained some super powers of his own? Or does she have to walk the Dream walk and fight Rafe alone? In the universe of dreams where if you die you die in real life too. Will Trinity accept her powers and conquer Rafe?
The book is definitely a one time read. Trinity's sarcasm and Dan's Quirkiness are the best parts of the book. The plot is short and to the point. No going round and round to catch the villain. All in all? Its a good read and definitely recommended for thriller story readers. There is everything a good book should have. Mystery, Thrill, Humor, Romance. Definitely a Good Read!
Trinity is an 18 year old girl from South Beach who finds herself with the ability to 'dream walk', right into other peoples dreams. She considers this ability to be a curse, as she ends up knowing the deep dark secrets and private thoughts of those around her. Things really turn into a nightmare when she is unable to rescue a kidnapped classmate who makes a plea for help in one of Trinity's dreams. Soon, the kidnapper escapes a mental institution and the only place he can be found is within Trinity's dreams. It seems he has developed a dream walking ability of his own, and uses it to threaten Trinity and those she loves.
I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. Previous reviews have mentioned that the cover can be misleading and I agree wholeheartedly. Sleepless pulls you into the story rather quickly and is a fast and fun read. I enjoyed the story and thought the idea of dream walking was unique and interesting. The book carries you a long at a steady pace and before you know it you're wrapped up in the climax of the story. I liked Trinity's character and her developing relationship with Dan, but I found myself wishing it had more time to develop.
I would definitely reccomend this book if you are looking for a quick and entertaining read, and would like to pick up more from Clark in the future.
I’ve been obsessing over reading this and I was so excited when I was finally able to get my hands on a copy. Unfortunately, this was pretty terrible. I think this is another example of a book that would’ve been better if someone else had written it. I don’t like being mean, but this book was boring and mediocre the entire way through. It’s sad because it started off really good. I loved the opening scene with Trinity and Coral. Their dynamic had me laughing and it set a tone for the book that made me think it was going to be a cute, funny read. Instead, the rest of the book is this lame story that I couldn’t stand. The killer in your dreams sounded like something I’d enjoy, but it was such a miss. It seemed like the author was trying way too hard and her efforts just fell flat. The story wasn’t suspenseful. The villain came off as corny and I couldn’t take him seriously. The final nail in the coffin was the romance between Trinity and Dan. Their relationship was too rushed for me to find it convincing.
I don’t know. At first, I was thinking that maybe I’m too old to like this book, but it wasn’t even good as mindless fluff. I have no problem reading light books. However, there still has to be something entertaining about it. For me, this book basically failed on most fronts. The idea was good, but the execution wasn’t there.
