Sarah has always been torn between two worlds--the carefree, easygoing world of her hippie mom, where life is all about helping others and building good karma, and the real world, with real responsibilities, like paying bills, and getting to work on time, values obviously gleaned from dad's side of the family.
She has nothing but fond memories of her father. He was always there for her, and clearly loved her mother more than she thought possible, despite mom's overtly eccentric behavior. Losing dad was tough, but Sarah's been reduced to being the girl with the crazy mom, a reputation that's not likely to increase her chances of landing her dream promotion at the resort across the bay. Especially with the new competition. Ben is an attractive, sophisticated, and savvy businessman, clearly there to destroy her chances of getting the job. Her luck couldn't be worse.
With an obvious attraction and closeness forming between the two, Sarah discovers that Ben's motives may not be as clear as she first thought. What's he really doing there? Is she being played?
***
Benjamin Rothschild has come to the popular upscale resort strictly for business. There to evaluate Sarah for a new position, he can't help being drawn in by her sensual charm and free-spirited nature. But for some reason, this passionate beauty has it out for him. What has he ever done to her?
With so much confusion and something obviously lost in the translation, he'll have to do everything in his power to convince her that his intentions for her are true.

Sarah runs the sophisticated resort for quite some time and gets very uneasy when Ben arrives to “evaluate” the place. She believes he is there to take her job as she is hoping to become the official manager there. Sarah agrees to take Ben with her when she heads to the mainland on her days off. He then easily understands where her carefree spirit comes from - her mom. He begins to realize that life is not all about city life and corporate jobs. He learns that he may want a more simpler life. As he and Sarah stop fighting their attraction, he still can’t understand why she won’t give in completely. After some bumps in the road between them, they begin to realize that they are good for one another and once Sarah knows the reason why Ben was there, the grander picture is better than anything she could have imagined!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Apparently, I’m an exception to most on this book. It has over a 4-star rating, but for the life of me I can’t figure out why. I never felt a connection to the characters and I really didn’t feel any chemistry between them. Sarah acts like a middle school girl and Ben is maybe a freshman in high school. I can’t believe they are two adults who are supposedly top in their careers and thought very highly of by everyone they work with. I could barely make myself skim the pages. The only thing that kept me reading is my OCD tendencies; once I start a book I have to finish it. I definitely need to get over that!

When Ben is sent to evaluate Sarah's work at the resort he falls head over heals for her...quite literally...he had been sick and after a long flight and a ferry ride he passes out before he even makes it to the resorts door. Sarah is under the impression that Ben is there to see if he wants to relocate and take her position at the resort. There are many secrets being held close to each of their hearts but that doesn't stop them from getting into a relationship. There was a major twist towards the end of the book, actually there were a couple of surprises which I am sure will lead us into the next couple of books in this series.

This was a good start to a new series by Jill Sanders and I look forwards to see what happens next.

Sarah Holley has had a different upbringing, being home schooled by her hippy single mum. She suffered being different and bullied at school because of the way she was dressed as a child. Sarah's father had died of cancer when she was 8 years old. She is close to her mother's side of the family who look out for each other.

Sarah has been working as the stand-in manager for the nearby hotel, and running it well, when head office send Ben Rothschild to check out the hotel, or her? She's very wary of his motives and wants to prove she has been doing a good job, but is convinced that Ben is there to take it from her. She wants to hate him but her body is betraying her as she finds him increasingly hard to resist. Will she give in to him, or fight for the respect and position she deserves.

A really nice story, very easy read, with a few secrets revealed along the way to keep you hooked.

Ben is supposed to see if Sarah will be able to run the exclusive resort. When they meet, he promptly falls on his face at her feet. He has been sick and with the traveling to get to the resort took the last of his energy. Sarah couldn't believe the guy from corporate headquarters just fell at her feet. She and another employee get him to his room. When he finally comes to, he realizes that there is something very appealing about Sarah. She wants nothing to do with him because she thinks that he is there to take her job. After quite a few misunderstandings, she not only has her dream, but she has also the family she wants.

You Complete Me!!!

Sarah Holley worked at the East Haven Resort, in Silver Cove, she was aiming for a promotion. Sarah was very easy going, carefree and always wanted to keep things zen. There was also another side to this beautiful soul, she was a very responsible and an independent woman.

When she met Benjamin Rothschild, there was an instant attraction betweem them but she knew that there was more to him than beneath the eyes. She just couldn't figure out what it was. And what she will do when she finds out why Ben was really at the resort?

Benjamin Rothschild came to the resort on business, he was there to evaluate Sarah Holley for the promotion she always dreamed about. Even though he wanted things to stay professional, his heart had others plans for him. Ben couldn't help being drawn to Sarah's free-spirited nature.

But Sarah didn't trust Ben, she was very wary of him..Which didn't sit well with him seeing that the woman had invaded his thoughts. Ben had to raise the bars when it came to showing Sarah that he wasn't playing with her emotions.

SILVER LINING is the first book in Jill Sanders' newest series, SILVER COVE ...the story was beautifully executed, loved the push and pull between Ben and Sarah.

Loved how fate works in mysterious ways, Sarah got back what had belonged to her family for generations. And found happiness in a similar way as her parents did. Sarah got a second chance at getting to know one of her family members.

Looking forward to more in this amazing series. Another exquisite novel by Jill Sanders. 5++++

A new romance story from Jill Sanders and I'd call it a hit. Set on the coast of Maine, the story is set in a quaint town that has characters galore. Sarah was raised in the town and now manages a private resort on a private island just off the coast. Ben is second in command of the company that owns the resort and is coming for an evaluation. Will Sarah lose her dream job or will she gain the dream guy? Well plotted and the character development was well fleshed out. The author could easily adapt this book into a series as there are many characters whose stories could be told. The setting is one that I would enjoy revisiting frequently in the future.

The story was good, but I was distracted by the terrible grammatical errors. The punctuation was very poor, and the text was filled with run-ons, fragments, and incorrect word usage. I am wondering if this book was even edited, and I am astounded that both the author and the editor believe that a suit a man wears is called a “suite.” This occurred multiple times in the text, and it only one of several incorrect usages of words. In a published work, one should not find 3-5 glaring mistakes on every page. It makes it hard to focus on the story.

In the time of "Me too" this book is hard to read. Sarah loves her job, trusts and let's almost no one into her heart and world and then Ben shows up to "evaluate her". So many work romances and yet for some reason this one bothered me. He relentlessly pursued her and wouldn't take no while she believes her career is in the balance. Just couldn't get into it thinking how wrong it seemed. I know, it's a sweet romance with a hea and yet...just kept thinking how inappropriate his actions were through the whole listen.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was such a great story and a great beginning to the new Silver Cove series. Great characters, great storyline, romance, a little mystery, and a HEA make this another great Jill Sander's book. Definitely recommend this book as well as all of her other books!

Ugh!

In this badly edited book, the hero, who starts out by tossing his cookies, is sexually harrassing the heroine, whom he came to evaluate for a promotion--his attraction to her being too strong to control. I don't know what happened next, I decided I would rather clean my bathroom.

Prepare to be swept away in a captivating romance like no other! Silver Lining by Jill Sanders weaves a tale of love, uncertainty, and unexpected connections that will leave you spellbound. Sarah, torn between her carefree, hippie upbringing and the responsibilities of the real world, faces a challenging situation when Ben arrives at the resort she manages. In Silver Lining Benjamin Rothschild visits East Haven Resort at Silver Cove, Maine to evaluate the acting manager, Sarah Holley for the position of permanent manager. He quickly decides she is doing an excellent job at the resort and reports back to his boss that he has gather the information they need about Sarah. The CEO of the holding company tells him to take a week and dig deeper.

Everything about Sarah attracts him to her. He loves her organization and hands on approach to managing the resort and that all the employees love her and are loyal to her. Personally he loves her free spirit and sense of fun and adventure as he gets to know her.

Returning to Boston, he has some decisions to make but instead he is asked to manipulate Sarah to Boston for a meeting and finds out he has been used for much more than a simple employee evaluation.

I loved the family backgrounds they shared, the fast pace of the relationship development and the care for Ben's younger sister. The story started a bit slow but was a very good romance with a few twists along the way.

I liked the story behind the story. The interaction between the characters was great. There was a little suspense. Things were laid out where the reader knew what was happening long before the characters.

Ben was my favorite character. I admired the way he went after the girl and still managed to keep things professional.

This book had a serious tone to it for me. It made me smile at times, but I didn't laugh out loud or cry. This is a good book to cozy up with a nice cup of something warm.

***I reviewed this book on audible.  The narrator, Roy Samuelson, did a good job bringing out the characters.

Characters - 3
Story - 3
Pace - 3
Quality - 2.5
Cover & Blurb - 2
Overall - 2.7

I'm on the fence with this one. I'm going to round up to a tentative 3 stars though, because at the end of the day, I liked the book... sort of. If it wasn't for all the deception, I would have liked Silver Lining a whole lot more.

A note about the cover and blurb rating. The cover is stupid, it reminds me of country singers either finishing or getting ready to perform a duet. As for the blurb, it's too long. I don't even know why I picked this book up despite those two things... I'm not sure I'll continue the series, maybe if I find the book at the library.

Integrity, Loyalty and Honesty

3 very commendable things to teach your kids and learn for yourself. Ben was taught it by parents who didn't live by it. Sara was so used to trying to find her own way through life since the loss of her father at such a young age, that she lived her life with those qualities yet had a hard time trusting. Overall quality of writing was good, but there wasn't anything that made the story stick out above others. There's no cheating or cliffhanger and you do get the beginning of a happy ever after. I would have liked to see more of a reconciliation and a look into how Elite transitions. Enjoy 🤓

Sweetly sexy, quaintly charming, emotionally engaging and highly entertaining start to this wonderful series about a peaceful resort town.

Sarah is a sweet, sensual, free spirited and independent working woman looking to get a promotion in the career she loves. Benjamin Rothschild is a handsome, charming and polished businessman with a strong work ethic, he arrives at the resort to evaluate Sarah for the new position. Sparks fly and tempers flare when Sarah believes Ben is there to take her dream job. Loved this heart pounding back and forth struggle to reveal the truth between this fun couple. Looking forward to my next visit to Silver Cove.

Good read

Well written, solid story kept you guessing for awhile. Sarah and Ben are great leads and their love story is sweet and simple. More depth into the secondary characters would have made this that much better. I gather this is the start of a series but our Author has fallen into the trap of the rushed ending without bringing it together. Whilst this does make the reader wonder it is also annoying and does not always lead to purchasing ongoing books. 3.5 Stars from me read it will be interested to know what you think !

The plot showed a little promise, but the writing needed work. Grammatical errors, incorrect tense, erroneously used words and run-on sentences were common. Additionally there were so many incorrectly drawn assumptions that it was laughable. For example, a good jawline does not mean the guy is going to be a good kisser. The couple also come across as fairly immature despite the fact that they were in their mid to late twenties and held down successful and affluent positions. Sadly, this book did not work for me.

I loved this book.

Sarah thought she had gotten where she was in her life due to hard work. She learns that her whole life has been a lie by omission.

Ben comes into Sarah's life to see if she is ready to take control of her family's company. He discovers it is owned by her grandfather who makes Ben promise to keep it a secret at first.

Sarah and Ben tried hard not to get attached to each other but fell in love despite the circumstances. They worked through everything to get their happily ever after

I really liked this story. It kept my attention and the plot was enjoyable. I loved the beginning where the hero shows up sick and they carry him up the stairs unconscious. It was quite the visual. The whole story line was very good with good characters.
The only bad thing about this audio book is that there were numerous editing screw ups. They were very distracting. I will, however, be looking for more books by Jill Sanders.
