Heartwarming, true story of a lonely, older man who places an ad in the want section of the newspaper. "Wanted: One family to eat Christmas dinner with. I will furnish the turkey." For forty years, Joe Smarzik had been estranged from his family. Finally, the loneliness prompted him to reach out. This small book follows his journey from that Christmas dinner with Homer and Betty to a joyous conclusion.
This is a sweet, tender true story about loneliness and love. A man who was lonely for 40 years. But in his older age he gained friends and reunited with family long lost. And it all started with an ad placed in a local newspaper. It is short.
Sweet, short story of a lonely old man who had the guts to reach out. I liked that he wasn't afraid and wasn't pretending he was someone that he wasn't. He didn't deny his past mistakes and realized he still had time to change. It was cheesy, but believable as a true story. It got a little redundant after a bit, but it was short so it was tolerable.
