Young MIT graduate, Tommy Thompson is startled when hired by Ted Talbot, one of the richest and most daring entrepaneurs in America. Tommy's treatise on lighter than air gliders has caught Ted's attention. Coincidentaly, they find out about a new super light weight and enormously strong metal that is still a lab curiosity. One quick decision follows another as Ted embarks on a grandoise plan to commercialize the nano-metal and use it in the construction of a solar glider that can stay in the air for months at a time. His daughters, both beautiful and willful become involved with Tommy in non-stop adventure culminating in the construction of an immense solar airship carrying a hundred passengers around the world. Pushing technology to the limit and his own emotions to near self destruct, Tommy works his way into the hearts of all who work with him.
