★ ★ ★ ★ 4 'X FOR XENA' STARS ★ ★ ★ ★

This was such a touching and ultra romantic story. It grabbed my attention from the get go and kept me on the edge of my seat. I applaud the authors for giving us the fairytale feeling with the heartstirring use of sex and can say I really enjoyed reading a story that was based on mutual love, respect, trust, friendship. This book really makes you believe in that unconditional, emotional and selfless love that we all want to have at least once in our lives.

About the story: Parker and Mia meet in the Dark Room of Society X Sex Club, in which people experience anonymous sex. Parker is the new (silent) investor, the owner is a good friend of his, and he decides to live the experience of the Dark Room because of the mystery that surrounds it.

Dark Room: The two partners can have sex in a dark room, but it’s forbidden to talk to each other, exchange numbers and names… No strings attached - freedom in experiencing sex - easy sex on the down-low - emotionally safe - live sexual fantasies with strangers!!

Parker’s first partner is Mia. That’s also Mia’s first usage of the Dark Room. Their sexual chemistry is amazing. When they start have pre-arranged meetings in the Dark Room, they soon develop deep feelings for each other.

My thoughts: Do you believe in fate? Well if you don’t you will after reading this book! Both Mia and Parker face a double dilemma – either invest in love outside the Dark Room or keep on drawing pleasure from the unconventional relationship with their partner in the Dark Room. In the end, friendship, true love and fate pull them through.

This romantic story will fill your heart. The love that is written on these pages is enough for anyone to just melt. Readers will find the connection between the characters quite surprising and endearing. I was so glad to watch Mia and Parker go through some very tough times and stick it out together and draw from each other. I would recommend this book.

I had high expectations after fantastic description of the book. Probably it is why I have a quite conflicted feelings at the end.

About the plot: Mia and Parker know each other since years of high school. She had a crush on him ever since, he also felt something for her, but she was the forbidden fruit as the younger sister of his best friend. Their paths spread when Mia met another man. Only after two years when she ended her relationship, she regained the same friendship with Parker.

At the same time, Parker became silent investor in the Society X club. And Mia went there during her friend's bachelorette party. They were both for various reasons tempted by the unknown, decided to use one of the rooms of the club, completely unaware with who they will end up in bed.

Final thoughts: The action takes place very quickly and it has really interesting idea, which I actually liked from the beginning... but still sex without words was a little colorless for me. I miss the steamy descriptions and dirty talk. The thread went into tension and intrigue in the background with a little twist, which I do not fully bought. Bad for me and my reading.

As I said at the beginning the high expectations can sometimes be a barrier. I'd love more mystery and more really hot scenes. But I definitely was excited to see what happens when they find out with whom they sleep in this dark room. And I have warm feelings when it comes to main and side characters of this book, so I'm curious where everything goes with the other characters if it will be a series. With this great idea of Society X, it can be a very interesting adventure. This book just did not hit all my buttons.

As soon as I read the blurb for this book I just had to check it out. Then a friend had read it and liked it and I bumped it up immediately..LOL I am glad I did as it was nice to read something a little bit more unique than the same old stories we have been getting lately. I enjoyed "Dark Room" quite a bit, but I four starred it because I expected this to be more "hard core" in the sex aspect than it was. Please don't get me wrong, the sex is hot!; but it most definitely isn't over the top kinky or anything like that. In fact, it is pretty tame considering it takes place at a club called "Society X."

We are introduced to Mia who has recently discovered that her boyfriend was cheating on her...Mia goes to a friends bachelorette party; which takes place at this new club called "Society X." This particular club is an anonymous club that has strippers and all sorts of sexy goings on. The real draw to this club though, is "The Dark Room" This room is where ALL of your fantasies can come true, and the only real rules in it is that you can't talk or know who your partner is. You are screened before being accepted, as well as you fill out a form about what it is you want from the Dark Room. Mia's friends convince her to let loose and apply to become a member.

When the she does finally participate in that Dark Room, all of her fantasies do come true, and she develops a real connection to her partner. She doesn't know who he is though....What happens when she find out?

This really was a neat love story, even if it was a lot tamer than I expected it to be! Like I said in the beginning of my review, it does have a uniqueness to the story, and it isn't all smutty sex either...there is a story in between the passion! The characters that we are introduced to are likeable, and a few of the secondary characters I would be interested in getting their stories as well. All in all, a fast and enjoyable read!

4.5 Stars SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!! Spoiler Alert be Warned now:)

OK, I am conflicted in a sense that I LOVED the characters and LOVED the story BUT wished that some of the storyline itself had been executed differently. Now....let me try and explain what I mean by that!

The characters....whoa, I LOVED, adored and thought they were spot-on for me personally and throughout the book. Why then am I feeling conflicted...well I guess once they have their "night" together in the dark room of course NOT knowing who the other person is at the time....for me I guess after that first time and because it was so explosive for both of them and they could only think of that other person even though they did NOT know who that person was and then proceeded outside of that club to have feelings for each other....it was just weird. I loved their inner thoughts about each other, they were written beautifully BUT for me my issue was ok I can see how they feel about each other BUT yet the fact that they still meet up in the dark room with essentially a "stranger" because they don't realize it's each other, lol, it just seemed and I don't say cheating because it wasn't I guess for me I felt it was emotional cheating in a small sense. Now, I say that because the storyline was written so great and you can understand why they try and keep it "cool" between them in their life considering the brother and job issue, yes I do get that, BUT the fact they acknowledge their feelings to themselves and the yet still have the fascination with the "person" from the Dark Room was just too weird. NOW I had wished that he had realized very soon after the first time and then maybe it would have made me feel better, lol, and then it would have seemed kinda cool that he knew it was her and getting the best of both worlds while being professional and having her brother as a friend, etc....but it took too long for them to realize it was each other for me. OK, does that make sense because I am having a hard time to express my feelings about that. It all plays out great too and most readers may not even think in the way I was thinking, lol but I guess I wanted him to have known or found out right after the first time....

Other than that minor issue for me I thought the book was fascinating and again, LOVED the characters as well as the side characters too!!!!!!!!

Congrats on a book well done:) AND yes, I am picky in my old age, lol. But really a great read!!!!! Overall I really loved them both from start to finish and their love was so genuine and sweet!!!!!!!!

This book hit the spot in oh-so-many ways!
Dark Room is a fun, sexy, twisty read that I devoured. It's a sweet romance set in a sinful spot - the perfect read!
The characters are smart, mature and, most of all, realistic. The pace is fast enough to keep you turning the pages, but unrushed. The plot is engrossing and intriguing and you have no idea how it's going to play out.
And the heat. Good lord, the heat. The sex in this story is hot, but it's the build-up, the anticipation, that will keep you fanning your face in and out of the Dark Room.
This will warm up your cold, winter nights! A perfect blend of romance and steam, Dark Room is 5 sizzling stars!

4.5 Society X Stars!

Oh my goodness. This book. As a fan of both L.P. Dover and Heidi McLaughlin, I couldn't have been more excited to hear that the two of them were teaming up to write a book together. I honestly had no idea what to expect, I just knew from the moment I heard about this book, I had to read it. And with each teaser I saw, the more excited I got and the more impatient I got to get this book in my hands. And I gotta tell you, it was worth the wait!!

Told from dual points of view, Dark Room is an exciting, thrilling read. It's hot. It's fun. It's just the read I was looking for. From the moment I picked up this book and started reading, I had to know more. I was intrigued. I fell in love with Parker and Mia from the very beginning. The two of them together will leave you begging for more.

I'm not going to say much about this book, because I don't want to spoil it for you. It's one of those reads that it's just so much more fun to go into without a whole lot of information. What I can tell you is that this book is so well written, and flows so seamlessly, that it's almost impossible to tell that it was written by two different people. Dark Room will pull you in instantly. It will intrigue you. It is sexy and fun. It has angst and a little drama. But, overall, it's just a really great read. I can not wait to read more from this duo in the future!

Firstly this is a standalone, secondly i have to admit this is my first book from either author but definitely won't be my last i will be checking these two authors out.

The plot is based on Parker, Mia and the dark room at Society X club.

I was reading in bed until the early hours as i couldn't put it down, Dark Room is one of the books that draws you in from the first page and has you 100% addicted.

The plot mainly centres on Society X strip club, Mia wants to re discover who she is and Parker is a silent investor but one night of Dark Room hot, passionate secret sex has them both hooked the only twist is they already know each other Parker is Mia's brothers best friend they have known each other for years, will they find out or will it forever be a secret?

I loved all the characters, plot is addictive and extremely well written, couldn't ask for more.

Paker - A sexy millionaire who recently went into business with a friend. When his friend offers him a taste of the business there's no way he can refuse. BUT there's a few rules. No names, and no talking can Parker handle the "dark room?"

Mia- Recently single and not looking for a relationship, gets dragged to a friend's bachelorette party at the last place you would ever expect Mia to be at Society X. Will Mia go through with temptations and go to the "Dark Room?"

This was a HOT HOT HOT READ and my first read from both Authors. I LOVED the storyline, the chemistry and did I mention this was HOT yet? It was a good read and I highly recommend it :)

Colour me the odd one out. I felt meh about it all.

I didn't find anything to love in this one. There was no cool banter, one liners, loveable characters. It was all just rather bland for me. Even the sex. I was disinterested in the business-world-talk, the added bitch and douchebag ex seemed cliché. I totally didn't get any of the romance, despite them loving each other forever. And the 'forbidden' seemed the mildest form in a story ever.

It was well written, the 'Dark Room' was unique, but seemed like the whole thing was a let down when after all the introduction to the club was wasted with a few bland sex scenes.

3 stars for a book that didn't really interest me.

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I could do this with you every day and it wouldn’t be enough. Being with you is like breathing. You’re what I need to survive.”

This was a quick, hot, sweet read. The characters were surprisingly likable and the drama was suspenseful without being over-the-top or rage-inducing. Additionally, the fact that a lot of the events went down in a sex club made the story more interesting than your average read. The editing was good enough and the pacing of the story was done quite well. I liked the juxtaposition between real life and what went on behind closed doors. It was a good reminder of how quickly inhibitions can melt away when nobody's watching. Essentially, the story is centered around the fact that at the beginning, Mia goes to a sex club and has anonymous sex with a man in a dark room. I was expecting it to be a little kinkier, but I wasn't disappointed, because this book was the perfect mid-week read: hot, steady, and just deep enough to make it more than a sex fest.

“Does any of this sound appealing to you?” he asks. Rachel and Meredith both stare at me with hopeful eyes.
Sighing in defeat, I hold out my hand. “I’m going to need a pen.”

*** Society X is a strip club, that offers a little more, if you're chosen, then accepted to become an elite member of Society X. The Dark Room is on of those "little more" Society X offers. Parker Ward, CEO of Ward Enterprises, visits Society X as a possible business traction with it's owner and friend.

Months after leaving a relationship, Mia Hudson wants to find the person she knows she could be. She enters Society X with a friend, for some fun, while hoping to find her old self first. ***

I am a huge fan of L.P. Dover. Basically what ever story she's swings teasingly in front of me, I'm like an excited dog wanting the treat. I am embarrassed to admit, that I have never read any Heidi McLaughhlin's work, but that will be rectified. The collaboration work from these two authors created an amazing story of secrets, sex, and relationships.

The story is intriguing and very well written. Both authors were able to keep the story consistent and realistic. I like the little surprises they had in their story. While you thought or expected one reaction or something to happen one way, it happens in a way you didn't even think of.

I love the chemistry between Parker and Mia. The little glimpses into their history and their secret and blind feelings for each other. While Dark Room is about fulfilling a sexual fantasy, the romance side is the heart of the story. Both aspects of the story, the fantasy and romance was written with taste and respect.

I honestly cannot think of anything wrong or negative about Dark Room. It has all you want in a good story. It's a fantastic story that I will highly recommend.

This story is incredibly sexy! From the moment we enter Society X the sexual tension is palpable. I loved the hot, sexy, forbidden feel of this story.

This also had one of my very favorite storylines, but it’s played with a twist. Again only adding to the sexiness of this book.

I loved the progress of Parker and Mia’s relationship outside of the club. I appreciated being able to see it grow into what we can clearly see coming but doesn’t take away from the storyline. I was actually giddy waiting to see how this all sorted itself out. And then we get a peek of their happily ever after which I won’t ever complain about.

I can’t lie. I adore Parker. His alpha male dominance isn’t over the top. The respect and love he has for Mia only makes him more lovable.

Mia is the real deal. She’s selfless and confident and has Parker wrapped around her finger. Even if she doesn’t realize it. Loved seeing her character progress professionally.

Were some parts of this story maybe a little far fetched? Sure. But it‘s fiction and because I loved these characters and their story I was willing to not overthink it and enjoy the read! If you’re in need of a quick, sexy read search no more.

Dark Room...how do I review this one without letting anything about it slip?? That's going to be a hard one.

First of all, the collaboration of Heidi and LP is AMAZING!! You never know in this book who is writing what. They're voices definitely are combined and they bring you to a whole new world for each of them. I cannot wait to see what these two bring us next! They are the perfect combination together!

This book, just wow! Not something you expected. But something you definitely won't put down! I read this book in just hours. I was enraptured from the first page to the very last.

Parker, yum, is just a business man who knows what he wants and how he wants it. He's become very successful in his world because of this.
Mia, just doing what she needs to do. She wasn't sure this was what she wanted but after her first time, she wants more and more.
These two have a very very hot dynamic!

Wait til you get your hands on this one, you won't be disappointed!
Bravo Heidi and LP!!

I must admit I was pretty hyped to read this. I mean, have you seen that blurb?! I love a bit of mystery in my books. That coupled with Heidi Mclaughlin and LP Dover being authors that I love meant I was buzzed.

Firstly I have to say that the writing here is flawless, you would never guess there are two authors. Certainly not two authors that have kind of different styles. I associate Heidi’s books with more romance and LP with the steamier stuff. They have managed to get the perfect blend of both in this book.

In keeping with Society X rules I’m giving nothing away about the story line ( I would hate to lose my membership) so all I’ll say is read this.  You will not be disappointed.

Hot, steamy, sexy, alluring, yet oh so very sweet! This book reeled me in from the very first page and I was in for the journey of Parker and Mia. I did not stop as I just immersed myself in it and now I can't and won't let go! I am so in love with this story! I don't want to give anything away but you'll want to learn everything there is to know about Society X all the while loving how all the plots and subplots so brilliantly come together. An absolutely amazing, fast-paced, thrilling, sweet read for me. I love these two authors individually and together they make one fantastic writing duo! I'm looking forward to more from them!

Full review to come but what a way to be snowed in!!! Loved it!!!

***WARNING… There are some spoilers in my review but the main one is not too far into the beginning of the story***

Holy Hell!! I just finished Dark Room by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover and let me tell you I absolutely LOVED it! The premise of this book is something very different than I have read before, making it even so much more enjoyable! I had a hard time figuring out how I could write this review without some spoilers and I just couldn’t. Though the big secret is revealed early on by the reader it is not by the characters.

Parker Ward runs his family business, and he does it very well. Parker is smart and strong in the boardroom, yet sexy and hot as hell in the bedroom! He is also seriously romantic but very guarded and cautious at the same time. I’ve seriously got it bad for him. Through an old friend and business deal, Parker ends up in the dark room of Society X, where the room is pitch black; therefore you are utterly and completely anonymous. There is not talking allowed, and still Parker finds himself completely taken by the woman he spends his time with….

Mia Hudson, works an unfulfilling job at her brother’s gym has just gotten out of a pretty toxic relationship. Wanting to rebel against the bad feelings she was left with, Mia also finds herself in the dark room at Society X. Little does she know her brother’s best friend Parker Ward is the man she ends up in there with!!

And so the fun and hot stuff begins…. Parker would never go near his friend’s sister and in an effort to keep his distance he hires Mia to help him out with a deal his company is getting into and where her fashion background is needed. These two have all kinds of chemistry both in the dark room and out of it! Imagine, living out your anonymous fantasy with the person you are fantasizing about and not even knowing it? Well, this made for some seriously hot scenes!

As the story unfolds the attraction between these two both at work, and at play… well it totally intensifies. Walking that fine line between friends and colleagues gets harder and harder. Now throw in a jealous office girl and an asshole of an ex-boyfriend and this story goes from hot to on fire!!!

I really loved how Heidi and L.P. set up the backgrounds for Parker and Mia and slowly gave us little tidbits into their pasts as friends throughout the book. It was so wonderful to see they had such a strong foundation, making it easy for them to trust each other and their feelings. The attraction seemed so natural and effortless for them… And little did they know that their sexual chemistry was off the charts!!

Everything seems to come to a head at once, and boy was it explosive. I was literally sitting up biting my nails to see if they could fix the volcano that seemed to have erupted right at their feet! And the way the big reveal happened!!! Brilliant!! The Dark Room: A Society X Novel by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover was a really fun, sexy and intriguing read. Definitely earning 5 stars from me!!!

Dark Room is exactly what you think is about and so much more. Whilst the blurb hints of what the Dark Room is about and who our characters are. There is so much more to this delightful story that made me devouring this book.

Whilst the book centres about the mysterious Dark Room , a room which allows you exhibitions to run wild and be free to succumb to your carnal desires. The story is about love and friendship. It reads like any other romance with a bit of a naughty side.

Now there are two layers to the story that fuse this story and show two the different sides. However I’m not going to tell you the full gist of the story. What you need to know these two meet in the Dark Room and experience wild crazy anonymous sex. After they both decided to take a taste of what is on offer .

Mia wants a walk on the wild side after a break up that has put in the dumps somewhat and hopes that one taste will be enough. But she never expects to find a man like Parker in this room on her very first time and have sexual chemistry through roof with this mysterious man .

As Parker is new silent investor into the club and wants to experience its dealings first hand to understand the mystery and the allure of the club. He wanted just a taste as well but after one experience in Dark Room with her . Everything goes out of the window and arranges prearrange meetings with her.

As time pasts and they fall for each other in the dark room. Questions arise. Is this fate, or will they be doom from the beginning .

Dark Room was interesting book on a number levels. One hand you got the whole naughty angle and then other side you have the whole idea of fate. Was them both being arranged to experience the Dark Room together had a great motive at play exploring true love and friendship through fate?

If you haven’t read any thing by either of these authors before you are in a treat. I adore what I have read from Dover and heard the praise of McLaughlin over the years from fellow book lovers. So this was a must read and they didn’t disappoint. This is no just another erotica, suspense whatever you want to label it. Yes the Dark Room had all that but the basis of the story was as romantic as they come. It will pull on your heartstrings and the next moment want to set your panties on fire. It is a perfect mix and something different from what is out there.

If you are seeking of fairytales and HEA and don’t mind some naughty fun in your romances. You need to read this one. I couldn’t tell who was writing which part and it was seamless. I do hope the next instalment released this year. As I love the concept

The rules of Society X are simple . . . break them and you're out.

Rule #1 - No names
It doesn't matter if you want to know, it's forbidden.

Rule #2 - No exchanging numbers
It doesn't matter if you want to call, it's forbidden.

Rule #3 - Everything is to remain strictly anonymous
It doesn’t matter if you want to tell, it’s forbidden.

The Dark Room is the only place you can live out your fantasies and no one will ever know it’s you.

For Parker, what started out as a business transaction has turned into an addiction.

For Mia, it's been a chance to discover who she truly is.

What happens in the dark will have you begging for more . . .

“Holding my breath, I watch as the door shuts behind him. Did I really just kiss him? Once I start working for him, there’ll be no more late night meetings at my house, or stolen kisses. He’ll be a forbidden fruit. And if given the chance, I know I’ll take a bite.”

5 sinfully sexy stars!! This book has/had me hooked!!

There’s three rules you must abide by when entering Society X: No names, no exchanging numbers and everything is anonymous. Society X is a place where any and every fantasy is at your reach. I won’t go into much more detail except to say that Parker is worth every broken rule!! He’s sexy and so worth the risk!!! Great, great book!!

I REALLY, REALLY liked this!! The premise of the story was so intriguing that I got sucked into it immediately. The concept of Society X and The Dark Room was so erotic that I was wishing, with each turn of the page, that I could be a member too. I desperately wanted a night of my own in the Dark Room.

The way the story is presented its like we're getting two stories in one. The mysterious and sensual encounters in the Dark Room as well as a budding romance between two long time friends that have longed for each other for years.

The Dark Room was so not what I expected but so much more than what I hoped to get from the story. It was hot and sweet, erotic and sensual and everything in between.

I hope this will be a series. Perhaps we could get Rachel's story next?... or Andrews? Ooooh, Rachel & Andrew? That would be interesting. I would really like to get more from the supporting characters.

What a fantastic read!

Mia's fresh out of a relationship with a cheating jerk. While attending her friends bachelorette party at Society X she finds there's more to the club than lap dances!
There's a separate club, one where you can go to act on all of your fantasies, even if that fantasy is sex with a stranger in the Dark Room.
Well out of her comfort zone but willing to take a chance, try something new, Mia is chosen to apply for membership. She gets one freebie and then she and her partner will rate each other. If she's rated badly she won't be invited back, if she's rated highly all she needs to do is pay a monthly membership fee and she's good to go.

Parker doesn't have any interest in sex clubs, except maybe monetary interest to help out a friend. He visits Society X to check the place out, see if it's something he wants to invest in. As he tours the club he can't help himself, the idea of anonymous sex in a dark room where no one can speak is appealing. Eventually he decides to give it a shot.

After one night both Mia and Parker rate their partners highly and are invited to join the club.
Mia can't afford it, Parker wants the woman he was with again, once just wasn't enough so he signs up.

Parker is best friends with Mia's brother. Mia's been in love with Parker as long as she can remember and Parker has wanted Mia but refuses to act on it because of his friendship with her brother. Parker asks for her help with an investment and ends up hiring her, his no fraternization policy should make it easy to keep himself in check. But being close to her everyday isn't as much of a deterrent as he hoped it would be.

These two cross paths in unexpected places, unbeknownst to both, with a few twists they find themselves in a situation they both long to be in but can't be.

Dark Room is one of my favorite recent reads, it's well written and will suck you in quickly. I read it in one sitting, and wanted more when it was over.

I knew this story was going to be sexy as hell, as licking the cover was my first thought, but it surpassed all of my expectations. Mia has been with her boyfriend for a long time when she discovers he's cheating, and it hurts. Her friends talk her into going to a party at Society X, where there are strict rules to give people a safe place to kink up. She decides to try the darkroom where she can't seen anything, nor is she allowed to speak, and proceeds to have the best sex of her life. Parker has invested in the club, and is talked in to partaking some of it's perks. His time in the dark room is also the best sex of his life, and it's turned into an addiction that he has no desire to fix. It's helping stay clear of Mia, who he's had a thing for since they were teenagers. What happens when these two people figure out the truth?

HOLY HOT AS HELL BATMAN! The character development is awesome, with secondaries that I pray get their very own stories. A sexy, addicting, and well written story line flows effortlessly. Dark Room is written by two authors, but they meshed so well that if I hadn't already known, I would have never guessed. I was hooked from the very first page, and didn't put down until I was finished. The chemistry is off the charts, with EXPLOSIVE sexy scene goodness that shouldn't be read anywhere but home. They added in twists and turns that I never saw coming, which kept me on my toes. I CANNOT WAIT to see what these two brilliant authors write next, so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I'm not sure what happened to my original review of this book. It showed up yesterday in my "Amazon Books to be Added" list, and I know I reviewed it. Hmmm. Weird.

I said something about liking both these authors individually, and that all my liked authors seem to be putting out books that follow some list of obligatory books. This is the "sex club book" for both these authors.

I don't remember much else about the review, but I do remember that I said I probably would have liked it better had it been written by an author unknown to me.

I do like the characters and their relationship. I love friends-to-lovers stories, but this one seemed to have those one-in-a-million chances of all these circumstances working together to make this all come true. Therefore, it leaned toward the unbelievable.

I feel bad that the review disappeared for two reasons. Not only did you have to read another one, but the details of the book aren't fresh. I remember the first review rocked (ha!) and this one kinda sucks.
