Errico Malatesta (14 de diciembre de 1853 Santa Maria Maggiore, Campania, Italia - 22 de julio de 1932, Roma), es uno de los grandes teoricos del anarquismo moderno y con el podemos decir que se cierra la etapa de los clasicos anarquistas (junto a Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Mijail Bakunin, Benjamin Tucker y Piotr Kropotkin). Su pensamiento post-materialista abre una corriente, hasta el momento inexistente en la teoria anarquista, hecho que le llevara a un conflicto ideologico con el mismo Kropotkin al que considerara cercano al positivismo. Sus teorias influiran en las nuevas corrientes filosoficas que surgen a fines del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX en torno al neokantismo y neoidealismo."

Errico Malatesta (December 14, 1853 – July 22, 1932) was an Italian anarchist. He spent much of his life exiled from Italy and in total spent more than ten years in prison. Malatesta wrote and edited a number of radical newspapers and was also a friend of Mikhail Bakunin. He was an enormously popular figure in his time. According to Brian Doherty, writer for Reason magazine, "Malatesta could get tens of thousands, sometimes more than 100,000, fans to show up whenever [he] arrived in town." (Wikipedia)

Just a chat between peasant farmers about anarchy. Makes these huge topics super easy to understand. I loved the breakdown of the differences between communism, socialism, collectivism and anarchy. They were always very muddled in my brain until I read this. Simple and effective.

Very good + too bad that the final idea in the book, that workers will organize transnationally and overthrow capitalistm in the near future (book published in 1884), is more than a century later far from reality. No reason to give up the struggle tho.

I think for it's length is pamphlet is probably the best intro to Anarchism you can read, Arguably more so than At the Cafe. A lot of complex aspects of theory are described in a fairly straightforward way and you get convinced alongside Bert, which speaks to Malatesta's strength as a writer (one of Anarchism's best alongside Bakunin). A lot of points likely derive from Kropotkin: A critique of property, a call to put land and tools in common for social use, the impossibility of determining payment (critique of collectivism), and an outline for a society based on free contract through federated communes. I'd argue what makes Malatesta a better writer than Kropotkin (not necessarily a better theorist, cool it) is his willingness to address objections to Anarchism (which he also does in At the Cafe). He is willing to correct misconceptions about overpopulation, "crime" under Anarchism, how will people work, and how anarchy will be organized. He also ends by giving straightforward explanations about the definition + differences between Socialism, Communism, Collectivism, and Solidarity (in a very cogent way). Once again, for it's length you can't get something as good as this (in Anarchist theory).

A obra reúne dois dos mais importantes textos de Errico Malatesta, sendo um deles ''Entre Camponeses'', que exibe o diálogo entre dois indivíduos, Pedro e Tiago, sendo Pedro um comunista libertário e, Tiago, sendo um senhor perdidamente alienado pelos seus patrões. O diálogo provê dúvidas típicas quanto ao socialismo assim como os devidos argumentos, além da diferenciação e explicação dos termos ''socialista'', ''comunista'', ''coletivista'' e ''anarquista''. O texto que vem posteriormente é o ''Período Eleitoral'', no qual discorre um breve debate entre um anarcocomunista e um socialista.
É uma obra altamente instrutiva e acessível, portando uma escrita de fácil entendimento.
