No matter where she goes, USA Today Bestselling author Nikki Lynn Barrett hears voices in her head. Instead of calling her crazy and locking her up, her family realizes it's just a product of being an author and allows her to write the stories so that the voices shut up. But they don't. And probably never will. There's no need to lock her up, Nikki knows she'll never escape the voices, not until each and every last story is written. And for every story she writes, about ten or more ideas pop up.
When she isn't slaving away at her computer writing books that will probably make you cry and keep you in suspense, Nikki plots to take over the world one book at a time. What? It's a sickness. One she can't escape!
Books aren't her only addiction, though. Nikki can be found making up parodies to drive her son crazy, and bantering back and forth with her husband, who somehow manages to steal her away from the fictional world she lives in all the time.
Nikki lives in Arizona with her husband and son, where she can be found using every creativity outlet she can find through music, photography, handcrafted things, and random interests that she may pick up from time to time.
I finished reading Sharon's Last One to Know last night. I LOVED the book! I would have finished it sooner, but life responsibilities kept getting in my way. The story line was great! It had a couple of twists & turns that I didn't expect, but it kept me on the edge of my seat more. It's a wonderful story about country music, friends & love - love that you might not even know has been there all along. I don't want to go into details to spoil it for anyone, but I do say this is a MUST read for everyone. It might be considered fictional, but there are so many truths & I know so many people can relate to the subject content. Go after what you want in life, fight for it, live for you!!! This book reinforces this. Love, love, love it!!
Quinn Winters is known as the actress who is always killed off in the TV shows she is in. Desperate for a bit of a clean start she heads to Nashville hoping to pick up a recording contract but soon she finds out that it's not as easy as what she thought it would be.
Tucker McGinnis won a reality singing show and after gaining much popularity he is now suffering from the dreaded sophomore jinx. When he overhears Quinn singing one of his most personal songs he knows that he wants to help Quinn which in turn may help his own struggling career.
The two begin to get closer and wonder how far they can push their arrangement. Yet both hold back major secrets from the other which may cause and end to everything they know. But before they can save each other they may need to save themselves.
This was such an amazing and heartfelt book. I can't go into too much detail without spoiling things but I have so much empathy towards both Tucker and Quinn with how they grew up and what they have gone through. Both are strong in their own rights and have to work hard to maintain their own sanity.
These two were so awesome and had such huge hearts!!
Dissonance by Michele Shriver
Kenzie Bolton is looking for a second chance at getting her career back together after getting divorced from her manager, Jesse Cole. Unfortunately he said she would never make it without him and it looks like he was right.
Chad Radcliffe is an alternative rocker whose band, A New Horizon, is currently on hiatas and is asked by his manager to sing with Kenzie Bolton, one of his clients. Chad has his doubts but after hearing Kenzie sing he decides to give it a shot, if they can work together to create their own song.
Will Kenzie learn to get over her self doubts after her relationship with Jesse and see the talent she has or will years of doubt cast a shadow over working with Chad and opening her heart up once again?
I loved this book! I thought the issues that Kenzie had were so credible and real to what many people go thru on a daily basis. I loved the whole idea of the crossover of genres and I loved how they came together to write the song, each bringing their own emotions and feelings into the song.
Such a great story and look forward to more!
Holding the Other by Lyssa Layne
Wow! Another incredible romance by Lyssa Layne!!
Kyle "KK" Kelly has had a dream of singing on the big stage but after countless bad romances with guitar players she has given up on her dreams. But her best friend, Brianna Rossi, has not given up on her and will do everything that she can to make sure KK is at least heard by the right people.
Lee Maverick is facing his first tour without Miranda Wallen, his ex-wife, and is not sure he can do it after touring with her for so long. His best friend and manager Red Garber wants to show Maverick that he still has what it takes to be the King of Country Music.
When KK joins up with Maverick's tour sparks fly but neither KK or Maverick want to give in to their desires, thinking that it may sabotage both of their careers. But maybe somebody out there will do it for them instead and when Miranda comes back with a huge surprise for Maverick what will that mean for everyone?
This book was great on so many different emotional levels! I loved KK getting the chance to live out her dream and her attitude of not wanting to replace Miranda. She is very determined to get there on her own merits and I think her character is awesome because of it! As I learned more about her past I was blown away and totally surprised with everything that came out and it truly made me love her more!
Absolutely loved Maverick and the doubts he had in himself with performing again. I also liked the degree to which he protected KK from everything and how he wanted her but didn't want everyone to think she was just replacing Miranda. I also really liked Miranda from the Catch My Heart anthology and really liked her in here too! I loved how she spoke her mind!
Such a great book and I really hope we see more of these characters in future books!
Broken Strings by Susan Ann Wall
Jake "JD" Donovan is a country music playboy who is best friends with Colleen Cooper, the co-host of a country radio show. Both may secretly have more feelings for the other but neither will admit it and jeopardize their friendship.
When JD's tour mate, Margot Potter is stabbed the attention and suspicion focuses on JD. When he takes a break to spend time with Colleen, his assistant Rebekah Charles finds him and wants him back out on stage. When it is clear that their lives could be in danger, JD and Colleen get away but trouble seems to find them wherever they go.
Could JD really be sabatoging his own career and does Colleen's ex-boyfriend, Detective Devon Taggart have personal reasons for wanting JD to be found guilty?
I really enjoyed this book as I loved the developing relationship between Colleen and JD, yet there were so many secrets kept that I wasn't sure what was going to happen when everything came out. I had definitely made certain assumptions about who was guilty and one definitely surprised me!
Such a great book and looking forward to more from this author!

Their attraction is strong and swift, but both have insecurities that prevent them from thinking the other feels the same. Secrets from their pasts make them hesitant to truly open up to one another.
This is an amazing book, very well written with complex characters. I ran through a gamut of emotions reading this book. Keep the tissues handy...you will need them. I highly recommend this book, as well as all of Ms. Barrett's books!!! Great Read!!
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Just finished Last One To Know, by Sharon Coady. This story is a sweet one that takes the reader through the ups and downs of fighting for what you really want in life, while trying to be everything to everyone else. Add in the beauty of country music talents, true friendship and love, and you have Last One To Know. A nice read.
Queen of my Hearts is amazing. I laughed, cried and at times got mad! Love it and could not put it down! This book makes you feel as though you are right there will them!
This review is for Lyssa Layne's Holding the Other. Looking forward to reading the rest!
Lee Maverick (Mav) Hot, sexy, man-bun-toting, King of County music. Newly divorced from Miranda Wallen, who was also his tour partner. Mav is less than motivated about going on tour without her. He’s struggling with the changes in his personal life and professional career. Touring without Miranda just feels wrong to him.
Maverick~ “Whatcha’ smilin’ for sweetheart?” Me~His southern drawl – I’m a pile of goo when he gets all "twangy."
Kyle Kelly (KK) AKA to Maverick as, Buttercup. Let me pause a moment to dramatically sigh in envy…. Okay - She is sweet, smart, and sassy. She has been an aspiring singer, but never got her big break, singing in the small country bar, Lils’. She has completely sworn off guys who play guitars, but, ahem, we know how that story turns out, don’t we?
Noah Jones (Jonesy) So, technically, he is a secondary character, but I felt the need to mention this southern sweetie pie. Plus, the author was totally giving those hinty vibes that he will maybe have his own book in the future. Noah is the lead band member of, Heart of the South, the opening act for Mav. Get a load of this description: baseball cap, holey jeans, combat boots, and a tight T-shirt hiding a ripped body. I know! GULP! Lyssa Layne’s secondary characters always have such substance, and never just fade into the background. You are always wondering about them, too, which I so appreciate.
Speaking of characters, Her main characters from her novel, Until you Fall in Love stopped by for a visit and it was like “seeing” old friends again. Yes, I'm totally delusional. Anyway, it seems to be one of her writing trademarks to have characters from her other novels make "guest appearances."
Hold on to the Other will hold your attention and keep it there. The storyline has every element you might seek out in a romance novel, and the inclusion of a backstory (sniff, sniff) gave a complete understanding of the character’s actions, which you don’t always get… and oh, the drama that ensues in this book… how I love the author for indulging the reader with a healthy dose of it, or unhealthy dose, however you want to look at it. :) Love me some drama!
Another great story Lyssa Layne! I give, Hold on to the Other, 5 Country Stars!
Dissonance written by Michele Shriver is one of the fantastic new stories in this box set. In this story we get to meet New Country Star Kenzie Bolton who in the past year has gone through some emotional and Physical struggles but is looking for a way back to the top with her music career. That is where she meets hopefully her saving grace in the form of Rock Star Chase Radcliffe. Chase's band is on hiatus and he's just sitting around when an opportunity falls into his lap about recording a duet with Kenzie. Not knowing her history when they meet Chase is unsure but when he meets Kenzie he feels the chemistry and knows it's the right thing to do. While you are hoping for a hit not with just the song you are hoping that Chase and Kenzie will be a hit with one another.
Another amazeballs read by Lyssa Layne, this one left me with that warm fuzzy feeling :) I wasn't a fan of Mav at the beginning but he totally grew on me. I loved KK aka Kyle Kelly from the beginning (her and I would be total besties in real life), seeing her grow along the way was great. I thought Miranda was going to be this horrible vindictive bitch but that role was taken by the person I least expected and that little twist was fantastic as I totally didn't see it coming. It was great to see Brianna pop in a few times as well
This review is for Susan Ann Walls story, "Broken Strings". A very well written, fast paced contemporary novel with enough suspense to keep you VERY interested and just the right amount of heat. The emotional struggle of taking that step from friendship to lovers, with the fear of things going wrong and losing a friend was handled very well through this story. I really enjoyed this story and am very much looking forward to the rest of the stories in this set! Whether you are a fan of country music or not you will thoroughly enjoy this story!
I finished reading Sharon Coady's Last One to Know and she has yet again exceeded my expectations. Romance books are not my ideal book to go too. I am more of a thriller/true story junkie, but if it has Sharon's name on it, I will be reading it. She knows just how to pull at you heartstrings and keep you wanting more. This is yet again another book everyone must ready.
***** "Love Notes" box set (Only a select few reviewed at time of release. Will add additional reviews afterward)
Wow. I got a chance to read only two of the eight novels in this collection. And if they are any indication, this is going to be one amazing box set.
The two I read literally knocked me off my feet storyline, character, and novel wise. They were both so extremely well written, they ensnare the reader from the beginning and never lets them go. And when they are, it is awhile after the novel ends. They both weave multiple separate and very different story lines into the novel, making it richer and stronger.
Not only do I highly recommend the individual novels below, but I highly recommend the "Love Notes" box set, as well.
***** "Dissonance" (individual novel and in box set) by Michele Shriver)
I absolutely fell in love with Chase and Kenzi from the very beginning. Such truly wonderful characters that were so well written. The reader was able to zero in on their strengths and flaws quite easily and relate to them from the get go.
Using the lyrics of a song they cowrote was such an interesting way to tell their story as it was happening. Yet, the reader was unaware of all the lyrics until almost the very end of the novel and of how very accurate they were.
They learn so much about each other, and this the reader does of them, via the multiple means of interaction between them. As they are writing, rehearsing, touring Nashville, dancing or just being together and talking. They bring out the best in the other, even in the difficult times, until their feelings become too deep and something neither of them have felt before. Which scares Kenzi to the point she is willing to let Chase go, even as it is the last thing she wants to do. Chase, gives her plenty of chances for her to change her mind, and instead of fighting for her he heads home.
They both come to very similar conclusions while they were separated...and when they meet again a few months later for a live performance things fall into place for them both.
Michele writes with such honesty, warmth, realism, and from the heart. She pulls her readers in so quickly and leaves still engaged but also thinking long after the novel has ended. Her books are not ones you can finish and then head to another right away. There is so much passion in them that the reader needs time to digest it all.
Definitely pick this novel up and read it, along with any of her others, as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed.
(Individual novel and also found in the box set "Love Notes")
================
***** "Broken Strings" by Susan Ann Wall (individual novel; also in the "Love Notes" box set)
What a novel!! Romantic suspense at its best!!
The love between best friends finally coming to the forefront; a detective that just won't quit trying to get back together with one of the main characters, and brings a lot of bias to the case; a long ago rapist who didn't succeed is back to succeed; an unstable assistant for the country star who is leaving his record label this year; odd text messages between "Viper" and his assistant; sketchy pasts of so many people; and the slicing the throats but not killing the two women by an unknown perpetrator; a queen of keeping secrets (the female main character) and the King of feeling guilty about almost anything clash a fair amount but both have loved each other for over 10 years, have been best friends about that long and finally are making up for lost time in the love department mentally and physically.
Dreams lost and rebuilt; lives shaken apart and put back together; strengths and weakness in characters and their actions; alpha males vying for a position only one can hold; manipulation and truthfulness...
So many qualities that you will find in this magnificent novel. So many strong and different intersecting stories that all come alive and weave in and out throughout the novel. Twists and turns just when the reader thinks they have it all figured out. An ending like no one is expecting and all brought to an conclusion the reader probably suspected, yet just there is more there than one suspects.
This novel keeps you on your toes. It is well written and has extremely strong characters, both of which make this novel realistic and relatable. The web the author weaves, the multiple strong and well written multiple storylines just adds the realism and strength of this novel.
I highly recommend this novel. (And the box set of the other 6 or 7 titles are as great as this one and the one other I read.)
I look forward to reading more book from Susan Ann Wall...
Review for Dissonance by Michele Shriver Beautiful story about second chances, not only in love, but in life as well. Kenzie made it high and fast in the world of Country Music, but apparently her success was significantly due to her husband/manager. When she decides to break free in order to regain control of her life and find happiness, everything falls apart. She needs a break, just one hit to get back in the map. In comes rock sensation Chad Radcliffe, everything not Country. Although Chad is not convinced, something in Kenzie pulls him toward the project that he decided beforehand to decline. Accepting not only the project, but composing a new song with Kenzie proves that together they can be in perfect harmony.
Review for Whiskey Bent by Kimmie Easley This one is an emotional roller coaster from start to finish! Sobbed like crazy, but it was so, so good! Whiskey Bent takes us five years after Tasting Nashville ends. Joselyn and Dean have finally hit it big with their group Whiskey Bent. Dean is ready to lay back a bit and enjoy life with Joselyn, but she's not ready to stop. When awful news put in jeopardy everything they know, Joselyn has to find the strength to fight and don't give up on everything that was so hard to achieve in the first place. Even though is a sequel, reading Tasting Nashville is not necessary, but highly recommended.
Arc review for honest review .Rattled and rolled by Crystal green I loved soph and crews story it's of love lost then found again plus it's from the rough and tumble series. great story . third book in set. first book in set queen of my heart by Nikkei Lynn Barrett wow lots of emotions in this one great story. second book dissonance by Michele Shriver another great read this story is of chase and kenzie who are both artist in their own right who fall in love while making a duet .fourth book is whiskey bent by Jimmie easley ok just get your Kleenex ready for this one .I just can't stop crying to tell you more .look five is last one to know by Sharon coast what a great story I cried and did a happy dance to this story. this box set is so far worth every penny and more now onto book six holding the other by Alyssa layne wow another great read when on the road living the dream a family is growing. These characters are all learning ,growing ,and love. Broken strings by Susan Ann wall wow that's awesome stories lots of mystery, twists, and turns .Nothing but a hound dog by Marcia james this on will have you laugh and hold your heart in your hand. so my opinion is what a great group of writers.
Rattled and Rolled (A Rough and Tumble Novella) This is the only story in the set I have read by Crystal Green ***I was given an advanced reading copy of this book in return for an honest review***
Sophie Quinn a new country singer left her wedding after seeing her groom to be being unfaithful.
She has been dubbed The Bye-Bye Bride of Nashville.
Cruz Gonzalez a retired Pro Ball player is surprised when he sees a woman who looks like Sophie in the same hotel he is staying at in Vegas.
After following the woman up to her room he contemplates knocking to be sure. After all Cruz knew Sophie since they were children.
Cruz and Sophie are enjoying getting re-antiquated after years of loss contact. They even go to the Rough and Tumble for a cookout then to the R&T Saloon afterwards.
Cruz and Sophie even sing on stage.
Sophie gets a call from her manager wanting her to come back to Nashville and answer to the accusations Dex her ex-fiance is saying about her.
Will Cruz and Sophie stay together or will Dex find a way to keep them apart?
Crystal Green has given us another awesome Rough and Tumble story. We see some good friends from past stories. I can not wait to see what she has in store for her next R&T adventure.
Rattled and Rolled (ARC): Childhood friends and neighbors Sophie and Cruz have plenty to catch up on. She walked away from her country music celebrity wedding and he is adjusting to early retirement as a MLB pitcher. In a chance run-in they enjoy an afternoon together, leading to second chances in many ways. If you follow the series you will recognize other Rough and Tumble characters as Sophie and Cruz visit the saloon. Any book in the series can be enjoyed singly or in order, the novellas are short but just as fun. Wishing for Sophie to come back again as her no nonsense attitude is refreshing.
whiskey bent by kimmie easley Just finished this book, loved it. Dean the tatted up, Chuck wearing country music star Is back! Don't want to spoil this book for others but this book was an emotional read forsure, their struggle in this book definitely real. What a roller coaster ride can't wait to read the next book in this series definitely left me hanging. If you liked dean and joselyn in the tasting series you will love them even more in this book. Definitely team Dean, you will be team Dean too once u read this book
I loved Whiskey Bend and seriously wanted to smack Joselyn upside the head and tell her to stop being so dang stubborn and listen to the advice she was being given. This book is so sad and made me so mad at Joselyn for so many reasons!!!! I felt like though I could relate to the feelings she was feeling after being given some serious news. But true love is what Dean and Joselyn have and hopefully their love will be strong enough to get through this latest obstacle.
I received a complimentary copy of Queen Of My Heart by Nikki Lynn Barrett in exchange for an honest review. Oh my goodness...another great story from Nikki, she is such an amazing author, each book I read keeps getting better. Her characters Quinn and Tucker are perfect, both have issues, but great together and they hit all of the emotion buttons you have. I highly recommend this box set, if the rest of the books are as good as this one, you have picked a winning box set for a great price.
I really really loved this continuation from Tasting Nashville! Joselyn and Dean are an amazing couple. Though in this my heart aches! Joselyn gets wrapped up in being on stage and makes that her priority. Dean tries to get her to slow down. Things take a turn and it opens a new chapter for Joselyn that she isn't sure can make her happy. I really hope there is more to this story! I look forward to reading the rest and updating my review!
I am writing the review of Whiskey Bent. OMG! What a serious rollercoaster ride!! This story totally had my emotions in the down side, and feeling sad BUT IN A GOOD AND VERY NECESSARY WAY. The story line did a wonderful job with the details of how the story was going to end, But, no! It totally surprised me that I didn't need a box of Kleenex, and best of all, the story is not end yet!!! Can't wait for more!
Whiskey Bent.....wow, I totally felt for the characters struggle with a health issue. I myself have an issue which I waver between checking and ignoring. I can imagine what my husband felt when I chose not to get checked. Great follow-up for Tasting Series, can't wait to hear more.
I loved Whiskey Bent just as I have loved all of Kimmie Easley's books.when I heard she was releasing in this box set and that it was a sequel to Tasting Nashville I knew I had to read it!!! I can't wait to see what's next for her!!!! This is definitely going on my recommendation list.
